Went in on a quiet Friday afternoon for a beer or two which turned into THREE, and by the third Beer the Brewery was PACKED. My wife and I sat at the bar and at First Chris was our Beer Tender, he must not have found us entertaining or he got busy or.... At any rate Brookes became our Beer Tender which turned the 2nd beer into a third. She was A Riot. Amazing personality, friendly, social, looked at pictures of our kids, all while maintaining the ever growing line of thirsty patrons. My wife started off with the Run By Fruiting which she enjoyed but then switched over to something else which is escaping my memory, which I am blaming on the Quaffee. Stopped in here for drinks on a Friday afternoon, and had a great time! Fun crowd, lots of seating inside and a small patio outside, friendly bartenders, and of course amazing beer. There were three of us, so we had plenty of opportunities to taste several of the brews. Verboten serves in 4oz, 10oz, and 16oz sizes, so it's easy to order a flight, a few extra tasters, and then settle in for a 16oz of a favorite. If you're looking for a great dark beer, then I highly suggest the Killer Boots, an amazing caramel porter. read more

Loveland's newest brewery is a hit! I have heard about Verboten opening but I got caught up with problems of every day life and packing and forgot all about it. That is until a friend of mine on Facebook posted a picture from here and I spontaneously made the decision to go to Loveland and give them a try! Wow! Is their beer good! I had four of their five beers and enjoyed them all! My first one was Thinking About Orange which was a wheat beer. The second was the French Kisser which was a Wit beer that had a great taste of Lemongrass to it. I wanted to try their IPA and the porter so I got two tasters of those. The IPA was good and clean tasting with a brown sugar sway to it. The porter was a caramel porter. Caramel is perfect for a porter! I enjoyed all of their beers but my favorite has to go to the French Kisser and the Caramel Porter. Those were just fantastic! Whenever I am back in Colorado from Washington I will put Verboten on my bucket list! Thirteen days and counting before it happens! P.S. Verboten is the German word for "forbidden". It was a lazy Sunday afternoon and my wife and I had decided to visit Verboten in Loveland, CO. It was a short drive away from Ft. Collins and, as always, I love going to a brewery for the first time. Nothing quite compares to sharing an experience for the first time regardless of the place or activity (except jail or being kidnapped and tortured, which I kindly refer to as most of my trips to my hometown in Wyoming). We found the place off of a small street adjacent to Loveland's more residentially built community. At face value it appears to have no distiguishing character except for the name and logo that appears on the side of the building. Nonetheless, with the excitement of a wide-eyed child about to walk into a candy store, we proceeded to discover the magic and mystery of this new brewery! We enter and quickly notice that we were the only ones there (besides the bartender). "Hmmm", I thought - maybe we were just early for the normal drinking crowd. I walk up to the bar and explain that it's my first time and wanted to get a flight of their best beer. He showed me their beer menu in a laminated sheet, which contained only 6 different options. "Oh - ok. Then, I guess I'll have a taster of all of them!" I asked if they had a discount for AHA (American Homebrewers of America) and he replied that they do. I think that it may not have applied because it's $1 off pints, not tasters. Anyways, we found a table and tried to get a good look of the place as the barkeep brought our tasters to us. A quick glance will tell you that this place is ginormous in head room, but not really in seating area, which we thought could be problematic on much more busier days. We were almost afraid of talking above a wisper as any sound at all echoes and gets carried accross the empty building. At least there was music softly playing in the background to eliminate the creepy-quiet feel of an empty taproom. My miniture tulip taster glasses were lined-up in front of me in order of the beers on the menu. I had their Roll In Ze Hay Gose, Hello Handsome Belgian Wit, Not The Irish Red Ale, Nuclear A-Poco-Liss Cascadian IPA, Killer Boots Caramel Porter, and Pure Imagination Double Oatmeal Stout. All of which were good and slightly different to the style that they were catagorized into. IMO, differentiation is the key to standing out and if all of their beers leaned off-center then that speaks to the creativity of the brewers and I applaud them for it. I didn't detect any off-flavors in these samples. They were all relatively session strength so fusel or ethanol flavors weren't an issue. In fact, in each sample I found exactly what was advertised and I could pin-point the ingredients that read in their respective menu descriptions. My favorite of the line-up had to be the Killer Boots. I am a huge fan of strong Scottish Ales which tend to have a rich caramel sweetness that can be done either by scorching the wort, or adding caramel in the boil/fermentation. I could easily order this or the Pure Imagination again and again. My only criticism is that the carbonation was lacking in most of my samples. The Red Ale was nitirous so that's to be expected, but I didn't like that my Gose and Belgian Wit were nearly flat, which one should not expect especially in those styles. Overall, I would think that this place would be pretty fun with a larger group. I don't know if they do tours, but all you would really have to do is look around the corner to the bathroom and find a large open warehouse area. The entire brewery is open for the naked eye and not much could be left to the imagination. I appreciate this sort of openess; I think it allows the customer to see the tools of your art and craft in full view and encourages their curiosity to learn more about brewing and how it's all done. I will definitely come back again and I will eagerly await to see what new brews will be on the menu in the future. Cheers! read more

Of the three micros we went to in the area, Verboten was my favorite. I tried the Where's Carl IPA, the Mantooth Imperial IPA, and the Salted Caramel Chocolate Porter on Nitro. All three were very good and I brought home a growler (well actually it didn't make it all the way home. We had a few more samples on the limo ride back to Denver. : ) This is one stop I probably won't miss on future brewery sortees into the northlands. read more

I really like how this place is so close to another outstanding microbrewery making it easy to taste the variety between the two. But getting here could pose a challenge. You may feel like you're in the wrong place if traveling your first time because you have to drive through residential neighborhoods and keep a close eye out for the smaller signage. First impressions is that Verboten is a small operation with limited seating in the front by the door. Though they do have a few seats directly out front for sitting outside on nicer days. If you're lucky enough to grab a seat their beers are well worth trying. I liked the 'Got the Knife (5.5% ABV. Golden Ale) and 'Good Choice' (5.5% ABV) Raspberry Wheat from the selections I tasted. I'm looking forward to trying more and will definitely be going back. Food selections are limited to peanuts, chips, etc. read more

Verboten Brewing blends the industrial, large square footage feel with the small batch nuances of a nanobrewery. With some wild flavors and board games. Oh, and plenty of munchies to soak up some of the ABV in your veins after trying all their brews. From dark beers containing caramel to wheat beers with orange blossom, the menu will most certainly cater to anyone desiring to dabble into fun beers. At the least, they will provide even the "I don't like bitter beers" person in your group with a good taste of something sweet or light. You could waste away a whole day here... though it wouldn't really be wasted, per se... unless you are wasted... but even then, is it wasted? read more

Probably my favorite Loveland brewery beer-wise, just because small batches mean they're able to do so many interesting things. Taproom has a great cozy feel, the staff recognized me on my second visit, and somehow they always have the Ablaze food truck there when I go - yum! My favorites (which they may not have by the time you read this, the peril of small batch brewing) have included the Orange Blossom Wheat, Caramel Porter and Lemongrass Wit. Their IPA is probably the best in Loveland, and I am continually checking their social media outlets to see what's next. As a caveat, it can definitely get crowded fast, the taproom is definitely small. read more

What a SUPER awesome brewery. A friend took me here one afternoon to get our happy hour started at 2pm and Verboten definitely delivered. They have a wide range of different brews to satisfy every palate type, something I appreciate as a beer drinkers who likes very dark or very light, but not much in between. They also get major bonus points for clever names. I got a taster of As You Wish, Killer Boots, Thinking of Something Orange, and Five Second Frencher. All four were excellent and distinctive. Five Second Frencher was my favorite, I'm generally a huge fan of lemongrass and it was easy going down without any major flaws or dropoffs. Everything I've had there is amazingly drinkable. The space is also super cool. They have a great antique freezer where the lines are kept and the L-shaped bar lends itself to a more tight-knit atmosphere, and makes it easier to get the bartender's attention. I'm eager to go back and see what else they have in store throughout the year! read more

This brewery recently opened. They were packed! We sampled 4 of their beers:Five Second Frencher (Lemon Grass Wit), Killer Boots (Carmel Porter), Where's Carl (IPA), Thinking of Something Orange (Orange Blossom Honey Wheat). All in all, we were happy with them. They certainly have some creative beers, but could work on having more intense flavors. The featured ingredients weren't very strong on the pallet. But they get an A+ for creativity. The staff was super friendly and attentive. I was impressed at how quick they worked since they are brand new and were slammed with people. It is a very small tasting room, so we had to stand to drink our beers, but it was fine since they were tasters. We wish them well and hope they are successful! read more

The final stop on our brewery tour and it was great last stop. I ventured out of my norm and got their vanilla stout (which I can't remember the name). It was extremely smooth and, well excellent. I also tried some samples of a couple of the lighter beers and was equally impressed. Then started wishing that I had enough time to get another one before we had to leave, but that didn't happen. A couple of people in our group did buy growlers and were kind enough to share them in limo on the way back to town. I really can't wait to do another brewery tour again and when I do, I hope Verboten is on the list! read more

Beers here are exceptionally good. Had a flight of some barrel aged goods and some 10ozs after that. Problem here is the service. I don't expect you to kiss my butt to provide exceptional service. But being friendly helps. Thank you helps, especially after tipping 20% with subpar service. Not giving off the impression that by asking you a question about something, I'm burdening you helps. I went up twice to place my order, so this wasn't a one off. Sorry, but this alone could sway me away next time I go downtown to get some craft beers. There are options. read more

When I pulled up to Verboten, I thought to myself, Great, yet another brewery in an industrial park. But it's amazing what they did to create a great atmosphere here. Aside from the high ceiling, you'd never know you were in an industrial park at all. And the beer was quite good. I especially enjoyed their Lemon Grass Wit and Orange Blossom Honey Wheat. New location is nice, but the selection was atrocious. Flagships only, and I am not a big fan of their flagships. I come for the rich, creative beer. Once we realized that there was a third brewery within walking/stumbling distance of our house, we knew that we had to make the trip over to find out what Verboten was all about. I have to say, we weren't disappointed! My fiancee and I decided to do the full sampler, and taste all 7 beers they currently have on tap. We were impressed with the variety of their lineup, which included 3 wheat beers, 2 porters, and 2 IPAs. Within those, they had a huge variety of flavors! I fully believe that the IPA here is probably the best in town. As someone who is only just starting to enjoy IPA, I really was pleasantly surprised at the balance that they achieved. We were also big fans of their Porters, and we were split on which one is our favorite. They really are the epitome of a small batch brewery, with beers sometimes changing weekly. We can't wait to come back and watch this little brewery take off to become something extraordinary! read more

I like the new venue. Long and diverse selection of beers on tap. Service was super helpful with recommendations and knowledge about the beers. We got beers that we were very happy wtih. We mentioned that we noticed the gourmet snacks; the barmaid cheerfully pointed out that there were free pretzels at either end of the bar. Nice. They also had a few games to play.
