I liked the airy open feel of the restaurant but it was a little confusing walking in as there wasn't a host station so you're just standing in the middle of the restaurant waiting for someone to come out and acknowledge you. The staff was friendly but service was pretty slow, especially on a Sunday night when it's not too busy. I got the shrimp cocktail and thought a good size, it was a tiny bit fishy tasting. I got the salmon dish and it was overall good but the crispy skin, which I normally am excited for, it was also fishy. I got a surprise me mocktail and it was perfect, very refreshing. They were able to proved us separate checks per person, which is a huge plus for our group. Parking is plentiful, there's some upstairs around back that no one realizes. read more

Wow I have found a new restaurant that is my new fav. The service and staff are over the top. I took my girlfriend there to celebrate her birthday. We had a three hour dinner that was so delicious. We started with a beet salad yum. I had the hanger steak and she had the salmon. Both were excellent. We ended up with a scrumptious cheesecake. We both will return soon. read more

Heard about this restaurant on an IG reel and thought I'd check it for dinner. The restaurant ambiance is upscale but laid-back, with diners including small groups, couples, and families. Server was nice and attentive. Our order: - roasted pickled carrots (recommended on IG and by our server) (5/5) - delicious! Carrots were nicely charred and tender while not being mushy. The flavor was a refreshing tang and the creaming dressing helped balance everything out. - Beet salad (2/5) - diced beets with caramelized walnuts and goat cheese (I think!). I thought this dish was fine. The vinaigrette was a tad too tart for my liking - Prime Hangar Steak (4/5) - cooked to medium rare nicely. The meat was lean yet tender and easy to slice. I would've liked the meat to have more umami and less finishing salt for a more balanced flavor. It also had roasted broccolini and fingerling potatoes. The potatoes had a nice crisp and were fantastic! Overall, it was an enjoyable experience and I would come back to try the other dishes! read more

Verde consists of two parts, a bright and open restaurant on the top level and a cozy, lavish bar downstairs. The downstairs bar also serves some food, and the upstairs restaurant also has a bar. My friend and I dined at the restaurant this time but I'll definitely be back to hang out in the bar. Service was top notch. We were always attended to and although they give you a jug of water for the table, I never had an empty glass as they continually came to pour it for us. The menu is seasonal, made with ingredients from local providers so you know everything is top quality. So many things sounded good that I want to try it all, but my friend and I split 3 appetizers, one salad, one main and one dessert. We truly enjoyed every dish. The onion spread was so unique that I recommend giving it a try. I'm a huge steak tartare fan and theirs was absolutely delicious. And another standout was the duck salad. It was so light and fresh and it's not often you see the addition of duck. We rounded out the meal with the wild mushrooms and the hanger steak, both perfectly cooked. Don't forget about their cocktails which are unique and expertly crafted. Lip Service was nice and cozy with the addition of spiced pear. My friend enjoyed her two mocktails as well. Loved outlet first experience at Verde. The food was so delicious and fresh. We loved how the produce and food is locally sourced. The menu has such a wide variety of options for being a small menu. Saw this new restaurant Verde when I walked by (it's close to my house) so I thought I would stop by with a friend and try it out. Glad I did. Amazing food and service. Started with a few cocktails. I got the Overnight Celebrity and my friend got the Lip Service. She said it was amazing. Loved my drink as well. Super balanced and on the fruity side but not sweet. They said they jigger everything so the measurements are always exact. We then shared two appetizers: Steak Tartar: This was the star of the show tonight. Super fresh and tasty. Generous portion too. Also got the Onion Dip with chips. This was a superb dip. Never had anything like this. Didn't taste "oniony" if you know what I mean. The dip was so good I asked for another bowl of chips! We then split the Market Salad. Very delicious salad. Big too! Big enough for us to share. Fresh greens and veggies. Loved the feta on top. Highly recommend this salad. For the entrees we go the burger. SUPER JUICY AND JUST THE RIGHT SIZE. Not too big where you're eating so much burger you feel gross afterwards. This was just perfect. Juicy, fresh, and delicious. We opted for a side of aioli to go with the fries. We also shared the Tagliatelle pasta. Homemade pasta very fresh and light. Great texture and flavor. Ended the night with coffees and desserts. They have two dessert options. We got both! Chocolate cake and the Frozen custard with pistachio and kumquats. Both were excellent. Not overly sweet or rich. Service was perfect. Never had to ask for anything. Servers and bussers all worked well together and brought out food and drinks in a timely manner. Very professional and hospitable staff. Also super spacious and clean restaurant. Lots of open lighting and windows. We have to check out the bar downstairs next time. Overall a very good dining experience. Their restaurant is on the upper level, while their bar is on the lower level. The two businesses are under the same name, but have different hours and menus, so be mindful. Wife and I went for lunch, so I can't comment on the bar atmosphere, as it's only open later, but there is a small bar within the restaurant, too. The restaurant is upscale casual with very lively and vibey happy music. There is indoor, outdoor (with umbrellas and heat lamps if necessary) and bar seating. Full service, sitdown restaurant. Fast and very friendly service! I tried the a la carte tacos - shrimp, salmon, and carne asada. Shrimp was my favorite! They're served on blue corn tortillas with very flavorful toppings. Wife tried the trout sandwich (not fishy smelling or tasting at all) and she chose fries as opposed to a salad for her side. I tried both and would've been happy had I ordered that. Lip Service gin cocktail was recommended to me as their most popular, and I was not disappointed. Great experience, and we look forward to visiting the bar next time! read more

We had a wonderful meal here from start to finish for my mom's birthday. We started with salmon crudo, cauliflower and snap peas. The kids got the chicken and the burger off the kids menus and the fries those came with were so good. They both had the mint mocktail and loved it. The adults had salmon entree, trout, and roasted cabbage. All top notch. The prices were reasonable and the service was super friendly. The restaurant is beautiful! At the end , we had the vanilla ice cream and dark chocolate tart (so yummy!). My only small gripe is I wish it had come with a candle to celebrate the birthday. Such a gem of a restaurant located in Eastside Costa Mesa! We came here with the fam on a Sunday evening. I started off with carrot what cocktail and it was so refreshing with just the perfect hint of carrot. The cauliflower with sauce appetizer is a must and will be one of the best cauliflower dish you eat. We also ordered the hangar steak, sumac chicken and cheeseburger and enjoyed all our entrees with our favorite being the steak. It had a perfect char to it that extended to the broccolini side that just elevated the dish. This is a great hidden gem on Irvine Ave & Mesa Dr. They have a bar on the 1st floor, but I have only been to the restaurant on the 2nd floor. There is parking up on the 2nd level with easy access to the restaurant. I live across the street and they are dog friendly so it's convenient for me, but I keep coming back for the ambiance and FOOD! I couldn't find the pic I took of the smoked chicken salad sandwich (my favorite so far) but it all has been great! Hangar steak, Cheeseburger, butter lettuce... all Great! I've only had good experiences with the waiters and owners. All of them are very friendly and accommodating. Check them out! Went there for the second time last night. This place is superb in every way. Had a cocktail in their bar and it was first class in environment and drink. In restaurant was nice decor, lots of air, and nice table setting. Service was excellent. Best part was the meal. I had the flat iron steak,it came on a bed of potatoes and a nice supply of broccoli. We went to the downstairs bar to listen to a friends live performance. It was not busy for a Friday at 6:15pm but quickly filled in. I Ordered the protein bowl with chicken without the tabbouleh (due to gluten free) and the chicken was perfectly cooked. I loved how perfectly bite sized the broccolini was cut up. My husband had the burger and enjoyed it. Our friends had the hangar steak and it looked great-they reported it was a very good steak. I had a glass of delicious Italian Sangiovese. My husband had the "Really? Carrot?" And it was good! Bathrooms are outside/shared with the complex businesses and clean. Service was good. Overall we would definitely return! Mixed feelings about Verde. This is a great nook for a restaurant - very walkable for the surrounding neighborhoods. The interior is fresh and bright but felt slightly sterile. I met a friend there right when they opened at 4pm for an early happy hour - "early entry" menu is very tapas-oriented. We enjoyed the cheese plate (it was a cheese in the parmesan family that I hadn't heard of before and I thoroughly enjoyed) and an order of fries. The star of the evening was the cocktail - our server recommended Lip Service and we polished off two rounds. Just like the interior of the restaurant, it was fresh and bright, perfectly balanced. Light on the gin...after 2, I wasn't buzzed and I usually would be. My half of the bill after tip was about $60. I'd be curious if there's a better vibe during dinner hour, but for me the place and people lacked warmth and I'm not itching to return at that price point. We were really interested in Bar Verde downstairs - much warmer space. According to the website, they are open on Tuesdays but our server upstairs let us know they changed the days/hours - couldn't find them posted anywhere on the property or on their website. Call first if you're checking out the Bar. I hope they find their stride! read more

The menu is interesting and the food was promising but in many cases needed a little extra seasoning. The onion dip was a lot of fun but needed more chips, our waiter did offer some. My salmon was cooked well but could have used a pinch of salt to liven it up. The same was true of the mushroom starter. This location is easy to get to with lots of parking. Our party shared a wealth of dishes, including the steak tartare, onion dip, catch of the day, hanger steak, duck salad and tagliatelle. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend any of the dishes but found the fish to be particular good and well cooked. Service was very friendly and attentive. Came here for dinner with some friends and had a great time. For starters, we began with bread and butter for the table then the shishito peppers. The bread is like a sour dough focaccia with a whipped butter. It was absolutely delicious, I honestly could just eat that alone and be content. The shishito peppers surprised all of us and were great as well with a sweet & sour type of glaze. I decided on the steak sandwich and despite not being that into horseradish, it complemented it really well along with the toppings inside. My husband had the hangar steak and although it was tender, could've had more oomph in the sauce for flavor. The broccolini's were gigantic too & a tad overwhelming. The potatoes though were amazing. This was unexpectedly an incredible meal! We went in the evening and it is tucked on the second floor of a strip mall area? I am not familiar with the shopping area but it seemed like everything was closed at the time we went on first glance so at first glance you may not expect it. The food tasted so fresh and I can tell they took care with the ingredients. From top to bottom including the drinks the food was delicious! My partner got the lip service cocktail and he really enjoyed it! I highly recommend the gem lettuce salad I think that what it's called. That was my favorite since it was so light and fresh. I wish all places had salads like this! We also got the tagliatelle pasta with meat sauce which was excellent I'm pretty sure it was fresh made pasta which gives extra points. And we also got the cod which was the catch of the day which we finished so fast it was that good. I know this place only opened in November so I'm very impressed with it! My only recommendation to add a nice touch is the paper menus kind of made it seem too casual, but I think the food and prices aims to be more upscale. If they put the paper menus in a folder or something I think that would be a nice touch. I know I'm picky but everything else I don't have any complaints or suggestions so that's saying something! Appetizer has hair inside... We went there during a week day. Order steak tartar, seafood stew and cheese burger with fries. ( total bill with tip is $3 short from $100) I would think this should be a restaurant with decent quality, but obviously not... We were excited to try the steak tartar, cuz I really like raw beef. When I had the second piece of bread with the steak tartar, I realize there was something like a hair in the middle of the tartar in my mouth. I had to pull out the hair. ... I almost was going to throw up. Called the waiter and told him the situation, he just said a quick sorry and took the dish ( I was discussed by the hair so didn't take the photo) The entree seafood stew was a $ 40 dish but the seafood was like frozen small tinny pieces. Flavor was good but I don't feel it has the value. Until the end, no store manager or owner came to ask or say sorry about the hair inside the appetizer. read more
