Pendry is a great spot, whether you're there for date night or a celebration with your friends, it's great vibes and a go to place that as fancy as you can get in Newport without having to head to LA. Be prepared to spend $22+ for a drink, not including the hefty valet fee, and you'll have a mix of attractive people (mostly females), weeknights draws business men at the bar, working gals aka escorts, and groups of people coming there for post work meetings drinks. The staff and service are top notch, or always is! But my husband and I were surprised with Pendry not cracking down on the escorts, it's very obvious and for paying patrons like us who want an upscale hotel for a quick staycation, it's a bit of a distraction and distasteful and put a damper on our view of Pendry. We would expect this at a seedy place but not Newport and definitely not for those prices on drinks, food, valet. We will be back but probably not anytime soon. I often times have to entertain international clients when they are in town and I would be very hesitant taking them to Pendry for dinner and drinks after what I witnessed yesterday. It would be very uncomfortable for a professional setting.

Had to beg for service here because I didn't want a 80 year old man to buy my drink and on top of it the bartender was rude and dismissive. But our passion fruit martinis were good but our bartender was rude and unfriendly

Classy, clean, pretty, and unpretentious bar, and by unpretentious I mean they give you a bottle of water instead of putting you on the spot and asking, "Expensive or toilet?" The giant pretzel is amazing (we know, because we had a bad one at a German restaurant the night before)- it was soft and buttery and filling, with a rich cheese sauce. The truffle fries were great. And the chicken sandwich has great breast. The buffalo chicken eggrolls are good, but they taste more like macaroni and cheese than buffalo chicken (needs more wing sauce maybe). But their side salad is weird, full of blueberries and oranges. Beh! Don't order too much- there's no fridge in the room. And, if there's no ice machine in case you are thinking you can just turn the drawer into a cooler, uh, like my friend.

Bar Pendry was such a great experience. The service was incredibly attentive and detailed. We never had to wait long for anything, and our server always seemed one step ahead. The space is perfect for people-watching, and we saw plenty of fun interactions, from smooth conversations to a few entertaining misses. The Caesar salad, fries, and drinks were all excellent, simple but really well done. We stayed at the hotel, which made it super convenient to enjoy the bar and head right upstairs afterward. Valet parking was easy and efficient, making the whole experience smooth from start to finish. Would definitely come back.

Valentine's Day is super happening here at the bar and so many fancy cars waiting to be parked. It's definitely a scene and be seen. lol super entertaining to watch everyone interact. I love my crudo and Moët champagne. We had a great time here tonight with my son and his adorable girlfriend and will definitely be back with my daughter next week. They need some smoked almonds as bar snacks but other than that, super cool hang in Newport Beach!

My friend was staying at the Pendry so we met at the bar for drinks. Such a stunning hotel and the bar area is no exception. I loved the lounge vibes. I ordered the Pandan, a pandan-flavored gin gimlet and it was refreshing and sweet. The service was decent but depending on where you sit it can be a little off the beaten path and you might not get as much attention as if you were seated at the actual bar. Would definitely recommend checking it out if you're staying at the hotel!

Bar Pendry is already a beautiful spot in Newport very stylish, lively, and with a menu of bites and cocktails that disappoint. On the weekends, the energy is wild in the best way, full of interesting people and good conversation. But what truly makes this place special for us is one person: Stone. Stone is the kind of bartender you hope to come across but rarely do. He goes above and beyond every single time we visit. Instead of just pouring drinks, he crafts experiences reading our mood, asking what flavors we're into that night, and creating unique cocktails on the spot that are always top notch. It feels personal, thoughtful, and far from the standard "order off the menu" routine. On top of that, he genuinely looks out for us. One night, he even went as far as calling us an Uber to make sure we got home safe something you don't forget. That kind of care is rare, and it's exactly why Bar Pendry has become our go to. The bar itself is gorgeous and worth a visit, but Stone is the reason we'll keep coming back time and time again. Newport, you've got a gem behind the bar here.

We're the regulars at the Pendry bar on Fridays and Saturdays. This place used to be the old fashion island hotel and was renovated and rebranded under the Pendry hotel chain. There are a few restaurants in the hotel but the main Pendry bar is the place everyone 20-40 years of age looking for a standing bar to hangout with friends and socialize are. The bartenders do a good job but the drinks are overpriced comparatively. They used to have DJs at times when they just opened and even a live band but now they only play a house set and leave it be. Ordering a drink from the bar can also be quite a hassle as they dont have enough bartenders mostly. There usually is a looooooooooong line by the door and the security and valet act as if the inside is so crowded and over occupied but that hardly is ever the case and when you get in you see the purpose of such a long line is mainly marketing purposes. The mentioned age range looking for a classy hotel bar come here often but there are times that as a regular I question whether its worth it or not. There are only 3 restrooms for women with NO hanger which is ridiculous for a hotel as even dive bars do. There is a restroom close to the entrance but the same issue persists there. In general these are point yo consider before going there as you might have to commit to a 1-1.5 hour long line anytime after 9-930 on Fridays and Saturdays, but worst on Saturdays:

The bartenders are AWESOME. Bar Pendry has been my watering hole since October and I've gotten to know the staff. Wonderful people and the shenanigans are always on pointe! Come for a good drink and stay for the shenanigans. BUT be safe and "gird your loins!"

Bar Pendry is located inside the luxurious Pendry Hotel. We valet our car for $15 as we entered the gorgeous hotel lobby towards the bar lounge. It's an open space lounge with some outdoor seating as well. It's a really classy spot and they even had a live singer, which was a nice touch. All of the cocktails were $25 each, which is definitely on the higher end. I ordered the Te'Kiwi, which was decent. The Shiso leaf that garnished my drink was so sad and limpy --pretty disappointing when you're paying this much for a cocktail. While our waitress was nice and helpful, it took awhile for us to pay our bill towards the end. Unless you're already staying at this hotel, I wouldn't come back here just for this bar.

The bar of the Pendry is a cool hangout spot and they got live music on the weekends at night starting Thursday. The prices are as expected for a five star hotel. Cocktails are well prepared and the bar food is of good quality. They got paid Valet parking. The Valet system works well and is very convenient!

Nice setup with circular bar. A couple of TVs by the bar as well. Drinks are around $25 which is pretty steep. We ordered Oaxacan Water which is a mezcal drink and another drink that was like an old fashioned. Both drinks were good. We went around 5pm on a Saturday and it was pretty chill. I think it gets b

Mixed feelings about this place! The food was decent and the ambiance is beautiful and amazing for people watching, but maybe the service is still finding its legs and working out some kinks? It's also fairly loud, so if you're trying to have conversations, you may find yourselves having to raise your voices to hear each other. Despite the fact that reservations aren't allowed, our group of 4 was asked to leave abruptly while we were still eating, supposedly because a large party was coming in and they needed our table... Our waitress offered us a round of drinks in exchange for leaving, but told us we would not be able to get another table right away (as in we weren't next in line). Luckily, one of our friends asked another person who looked like they were a manager and we got seated promptly at another table so we were able to order more food and finish eating. On our first visit, we ordered: COCKTAIL SHRIMP: decent, not a standout, but it tastes fine. The Baja cocktail sauce was mild. KOREAN FRIED CHICKEN SLIDERS: served with kimchi butter, carrot and radish slaw. This was pretty tasty but also on the mild side in terms of flavor. Our group liked them enough to get a second order, as they come in a set of 3. DUNGENESS CRAB CAKE: tasted fresh, but also not a standout. I tend to like more flavor in all my food, so this dish wasn't super memorable to me. FRIES: crispy and delicious! Fries done right. FRIED MUSHROOMS: very interesting and unique dish - the way the mushrooms were fried made them very delicate and crispy. Would recommend if you're a mushroom fan. SHISO PRETTY COCKTAIL: Vodka, Passion Fruit, Shiso, Lime Cordial. Super tasty and refreshing cocktail. Would order again! GOLDEN HOUR COCKTAIL: Clase Azul Tequila Plata, Mezcal, Pasilla Arbol Syrup Blood Orange, Lime, Mole Bitters. Well balanced but the smokey flavor of Mezcal was still prominent, so I'd only recommend this one if you enjoy Mezcal. Overall not a terrible visit but it definitely had some kinks. I would still go back if friends or family want to go.

We've been here a few times before and always thought it was decent. So, we made the last minute reservation online and got here 15 minutes early. When we arrived, there was a short line, but per the reservation instructions, one of my friends went in to check in while we waited outside. Friend: Hi, I'm checking in for a reservation. Bartender: What time is your reservation. Friend: 10 Bartender: What time is it now? Friend: 9:45 Bartender: Then I'll see you at 10pm. Friend came back annoyed and explained what happened. The bartender didn't say it in a joking way, but with attitude and annoyance. Most staff would respond "Thank you for checking in, we will let you know when your table is available." We weren't going to let this ruin our night, so we waited and were seated by the hostess. The bar itself is dimly lit and very tight. The music was loud enough that we had to almost yell to hear each other. The waiter came by soon after and was extremely friendly. We said we'd been here a few times before, but it's been a while. He refreshes our memory by saying they specialize making variations of classics. They want customers to focus on the flavors and that's why the menu doesn't list the spirit in their drinks. Also, they only make drinks on the menu because their drinks are prebatched/premade. We ask for recommendations which he was happy to give. We each order a drink and a snack for the table. As we're talking (very loudly so we can hear each other), we lose track of time before we realize that it's been 20 minutes and we haven't gotten our drinks yet. For something that's prebatched, it shouldn't take long. Before we can flag down the waiter, he comes by and apologizes that they lost our order and had to put it back in. We appreciate the honesty and say it's no problem. 5 minutes later, our drinks and food arrives. He again apologizes for the wait and has a second order of our food that he's including for free. Honestly we were ok with just the apology, but extra food too? Hell yea. Sounds like it was turning around. The drinks were okay. Not amazing, but definitely above average 3.8 / 5. The snack, bread and butter, were surprisingly good. 4.5 / 5 When we asked for the check, the waiter brought the credit card reader and told us we can swipe our card any time and left it on our table. We look at the bill and realize the waiter not only gave us the 2nd snack for free, but comp'd 2 of the drinks also. We all agree this waiter is GREAT. So why the 2 stars? Well first let me say, I would leave it at 1 star, but the waiter definitely earned them another. We wanted to pay cash, so we waited for him to come back. Instead, the original rude bartender comes by and realizes we haven't paid yet. We ask if we can pay with cash. He explains that they don't accept cash. Friend: Are you sure? *Proceeds to try to insert cash into the chip reader slot* Bartender: You're pretty stupid, aren't you? Friend: Maybe if I swipe it instead *Doubles down and proceeds to swipe the cash through the magnetic strip reader* Bartender: Wow, you really are stupid. My friend is a 100% a goofball and having fun with the bartender. It was OBVIOUS that he was joking. Was it funny? A little. Was it stupid? 100%. But for the bartender or ANY customer service staff to call a paying customer "stupid", that's simply unacceptable. We're all pretty pissed at this point and simply swipe the card and the bartender leaves. As I said earlier, we've come here a few times. We don't live especially close, but when we're in the area, we would always consider coming here. Now, there's no chance. For any business, even if your drinks and food are great, customer service can easily DESTROY your experience and that's exactly what the bartender did. Note to the male bartender with no hair: You really shouldn't be interacting with customers. You were rude from the start and have no sense of humor. Could you be having a bad day? Sure, but that's not an excuse to be rude to customers. I know management saw my original post because it was removed, probably because I referred to the bartender by his hairstyle (or lack thereof) multiple times. If they rather remove my post than deal with their bartender, that's another sign to avoid this place.

The restaurant has a warm, inviting atmosphere with a beautiful design that strikes a nice balance between upscale and comfortable. It's the kind of place where you can settle in and enjoy a leisurely meal. We started with the roasted bone marrow, which was pure indulgence. I spread that rich, nutty, buttery goodness over the crispy toast points, and every bite was better than the last. Next came the prawns. The chefs did an outstanding job highlighting the natural umami from the shrimp head before the sweetness of the corn and shallots blended perfectly with the tender, succulent shrimp. It was a dish that kept evolving with every bite. The smoked short rib was the star of the meal. I asked for the sauce on the side, but it was clear the meat had already been cooked sous vide with the sauce, allowing those deep, savory flavors to fully penetrate every bite. After our party of six chatted over cocktails and preyed on pupus, we moved to a "secret" room tucked in the back of Stowaway and walked into a Belly Of The Beast. The founders and co-owners of Stowaway, Leonard Chan and Dominic Iapello, created this extension to the tiki bar with a wildly interesting Pinocchio theme and the famed encounter with Monstro the whale all the while serving the same offerings in Stowaway but with also an exclusive limited menu just for this adventure. With its proximity to Disneyland and its Enchanted Tiki Room, with the very niche underground-like society of tiki culture they found a consistent customer base and the thrill of island escapism through colorful cocktails, pleasurable pupus, tropical trimmings, and nostalgic know-how. How would my belly handle the beastly drinks concocted here!? PURCHASE(S) Gepetto's Last Words ($16.00): Intrigued by the cocktail's name, this elixir was crafted with Fid Street Gin, tangerine, creme de violette, lemon, and cucumber, it was a citrusy refreshing sweet drink that was decorated with bright yellow petals. It was nice, but for whatever reason it just didn't quite hit the spot. [ONION RINGS/STRAWS/STRINGS ALERT - 4.0 of 5.0 STARS] Onion Rings ($9.00): A decent portion with rings of medium to large sizes, these were hot, dark golden browned, crunchy, and had a slight tendency to crumble when bitten into while the onion ring (sweet Maui!) rarely pulled out at times. They were lightly oily while the catsup wasn't needed but used. SERVICE While in Stowaway, we informed our male server to let us know when we were allowed to enter the belly. Once inside and situated, we had the place and bartender to ourselves. After we all perused the menu, we placed our orders, and everything arrived within ten minutes. The rest of the time was spent chatting, picture taking, and our bartender checked in on us also giving a Dole Whip taster. All was casual, chill, and somewhat on island time - aloha and mahalo! PARKING (FREE): They shared a medium-sized private lot with several other businesses who were closed at this time with plenty of spots - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE "Hidden" inside Stowaway which was located within a strip mall, the entire theme was based on the Pinocchio story, the interlude in time spent inside Monstro, and as we entered it felt like the beginning of the Disneyland "Storybook" ride as you road a canal boat into the mouth and sharp teet of a whale. There were several marionettes (appropriate and non-appropriate) that hung from the ceiling and belly walls, along with other Disneyesque memorabilia, a few sitting booths, and a tiny bar at the end of the roo. No natural lighting whatsoever while an assortment of extremely low-lit electric lights and table candles glowed. There were no TVs while I couldn't recall any background music. ATTIRE Although I was actually dressed appropriately for the occasion in an aloha shirt, linen pants, and flip-flops, this place was totally casual, so a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops would suffice. OVERALL Belly Of The Beast was an adventurous fun evening with friends, it left me feeling childlike with the need to watch "Pinocchio", and I couldn't wait to return to try more of their awesome-soundling elixirs. I generally loved all-things Disneyana, and this new wrinkle, albeit probably not approved by the mouse ears brass, caught my fancy. My one drink was tasty but just didn't hit the right spot, the onion rings were very good, the prices were a tad elevated, the atmosphere was awesome, and the service was friendly and professional. They had an extremely limited menu, and there was some doubt whether or not ordering from the Stowaway menu was an option. Plus, I always preferred to support small local mom & pop businesses. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $27.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS
