Stay away from this place. ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS MONEY. They play on emotions and will basically tell you your animal is dying, they will price gauge you for everything. This place is ALL about money. They get annoyed if questions are asked. They get annoyed if you decide to wait at the facility with your pet. They want to take your pet from you, put them in a back room, and have the pet owner leave. Then they will call you with horrible news and try to get you to do every charge they can think of. They were clearly annoyed we wanted to stay with our pet. We got no answers and just a huge bill. After sending us an itemized receipt they then decided to "relook" at our bill and add MORE charges that were "initially missed" by billing. Sounds very sketchy! I'm no vet, but I am an ER trauma nurse and some of the reasoning/rationale just did not make sense here and the bedside manner was just awful. They thrive on patients emotions. My friend's dog and my dog got into a fight, and the dog had minimal cuts in his ears and along his tongue. I've been in the medical field for 5 years and examined the dog myself, who was not in distress or crying or anything during the exam. My friend was freaked out by blood and decided to take him to the nearest emergency pet place to have him looked at. She chose Vergi out of convenience - this place completely took advantage of how panicked she was and totally ripped her off. Her dog did NOT even require stitches for the minimal abrasions he had, yet they changed her $500 for cleaning his wounds! They wrongfully administered an NSAID, a narcotic, gabapentin (neuropathic pain - really guys?) lab work (which they tried BSing and saying it was needed for the antibiotics - which is false, liver enzymes are affected by strong antibiotics and this dog had MINOR CUTS), and they charged for a "clip and clean" even though the cuts were perfectly visible. Oh, they also told her they'd have to sedate her dog to do a full exam?!?! I did a full exam 20 seconds after the fight, and the dog was perfectly calm and even jumped down from the table to keep playing! I'm reporting this place to the State Attorney General for fraud. You should be ashamed for taking advantage of worried pet parents and nickel and diming them at every corner. Do NOT take your pet here!!! read more

I had to give one star because there was no other choice. The worst vet place I've ever been. It's all about the money and less about the animals. I brought in a cat that just had kittens she was so stressed after a long birth with her kittens. They were not compassionate at all. She nipped one of the techs and they turned me into the city. I was served by an officer which I had to quarantine her and her babies. The officer told me to never take an animal there again. That statement speaks for itself. This has cost me so far $1000.00 I don't believe the vet tech knew what she was doing. I took her to my private vet and he and the staff said they had no problems with her at all. Very quiet wasn't upset even while they looked at her kittens. Some people know how to handle the situation and some don't. She was examined twice daily. Maybe you should check the tech who got bitten. Animals pick up negativity much quicker I've had 3 of my neighbors tell they had brought there animals there and they were extremely rude and wanting $3000.00 in one case before their dog was even examined. read more

these people are very money hungry! i took my 1 year old dog in to seek immediate help at 4am he was very pale and needed attention asap we were the only people there at 4AM they were quick to take a $300 payment for a simple test and took over an hour and a half to come tell us something and the dr that was taking care of us made us wait another 40 minutes and said another dr is going to assist y'all im clocking out mind you my dog needs literally attention I ask for an estimate so we can immediately get him on a iv as he was losing his color the only helpful person was a nice Hispanic lady she ran outside after we dropped there papers saying we'd have to pay 7k to only get one day of hospitalizatio once we finally get to the clinic she recommended they skipped a room full of people to take my dog in and get him on medication and iv fluids immediately like if we were the only people there and told us his temperature was at 106 already VERY SCARY FOR A PET OWNER while my dog was on the edge of his death these people took 2 hours to tell us to give them 7k for a one day help I recommend if you love your pet take them somewhere they'll see them immediately especially if they are very sick! read more

Arrived at 10:45 am after my dog had been vomiting every thirty minutes for 12 hours. Was told they would call once they have a chance to evaluate him. I called at 2pm concerned since I hadn't heard anything. At 2:45pm they called back asking for my credit card to begin evaluation and conducting tests. I was told to expect a phone call after 2-3 hours since they required an xray technician. 3 hours came and went so I called again, to be told it can take 4-6 hours for an xray tech and to be patient for them to call. So I wait another 2 hours, still no word on my dog, called again. All clear on his results but the doctor recommended a shot and anti-nausea medicines. Dr. John Mehanni said he needed time to discharge him though. Another two hours later- 9:30 pm still no phone call from Vergi. I showed up and requested him to be released without any medication since they were unwilling to provide an estimate of how much longer it would take. Received my dog at 10pm. I understand they were busy, but the utter lack of communication is wildly unprofessional. I asked if he received any water while in their custody and care. The nurse said "no since he was under observation." So if you are in a similar predicament with your dog - just lock him in a cage for 12 hours without food or water and save yourself $1000. read more

If there was less than 1 star that would be my choice...this place does not get high marks with me. I took my dog in for emergency care. To their credit, she was very sick (and had been sick for a while and was being treated by a vet) so I want to be clear this is not why they are getting low marks. Nature is nature and they have no control over it. It was their attitude. Dr. Cornelius was very rude and was talking to my mother the entire time, although I am the owner. I explained calmly 4 different times my mom was here for my support and I am the owner, so please speak to me and she ignored the request. Additionally, her delivery of my dog's prognosis had absolutely no warmth to it and was icy. Dire situation, yes. But this is my DOG and obviously I am stressed. Abrasive personality is not what you need. A few moments later I was literally told to "Get back to reality" by Dr. Cornelius. It took everything in me not to take her down. I was horrified. I would like to think perhaps, she was going through something personal but that is no excuse. Additionally, there was a woman working the reception area. She appeared to be a tech of some kind. She had very short hair. She was worse than the Dr. No "bedside manner" whatsoever. She was gruff, rushed you if you had questions and basically spoke to myself and another person like we were complete morons when it came to our dogs. She treated the other gentleman like he was an animal abuser (his dog was dying and he was trying to cope the best he could...he was alone) and literally yelled at him. I probably would have gone over there and stuck up for him if I was not so upset about my dog. My dog passed away :( but that was my choice. She was very ill and nothing more could be done. The only sunshine in this place was a blonde assistant who took my dog's pawprint one last time. : ( : ( She consoled me and my mom and was very, very gentle. When she handed me the pawprint she said over and over she was really sorry. I just appreciated the human-ness. That being said I am not likely to use this vet again. I had a miserable experience here. I was sent here from a vet over the weekend just to monitor my cat and keep him on fluids. When I got there they gave me an estimate and included everything/every test the previous vet did. AND $400 just to have the intern there watching the doctor examine my cat. I explained that I was under the impression that bringing him here was just to monitor and give my cat IV over the weekend. They asked for a $2999.45 deposit and when I said I didn't have that type of money on me the doctor suggested I put him down. NO LIE!! What kind of place does this?? When I said I wanted to take my cat and go, the doctor kept telling me putting him down was best. My response was "how do you know?" Her response "from the tests the vet sent". Soooooo if they're basing it on those tests why do the same tests?? I said I doubt anything changed in the 15 minute far ride. Dr was so unpersonable. I decided I'd rather have him home with me than at that place. My cat passed. He's in a better place. And I'm glad I didn't let him there. I 10000% regret taking him there. If you have an emergency and it's the closest, by all means take your pet there (but look at the over inflated budget they show you...its a joke). Took my sick chihuahua in who was quickly diagnosed with kidney failure. Excellent staff all around from the receptionist, vet techs, and especially the vet who helped to put my girl down for me. Very informative, honest and upfront. Yes ER care is expensive but they are good at what they do and deserve to paid as such. Medical costs are not any less expensive because a pet is involved. I really appreciated the time they took with me and my pet and the loving care they gave to her. My overall experience at Vergi helped me to come to terms better with having to put my pet down. Forget this place! I called around MULTIPLE emergency vet clinics for some newborn kittens I found cause their mom was dead and they needed constant care. I finally called this place and they ASSURED me that they would be picked up and cared for! They got my hopes up. After hours of waiting, I call back and they start talking to me like I'm stupid and tell me that "they only pick up injured animals" and to call animal control. WHY WOULD YOU MISINFORM SOMEONE LIKE THIS??? I was clear in my initial call that they were not injured just fucking days old (eyes not open and barely crawling) and they still told me that they would be picked up!! My friend's dog was hit by a car, we rushed her here, they refused to do anything with the dog and kept pushing a $850 emergency plan. We paid the money, waited for hours, nurses and doctors assured us the dog would be fine. They kept pushing their prices for the "care" while withholding important information. The dogs front right leg was a major concern for us and they told us her front right leg is OKAY. Once we came to pick her up after refusing to pay an additional cent, the doctor THEN wants to tell us our dog is 3 legs down and in need for surgery. They literally wanted to charge us 100s of dollars extra to just WATCH her overnight. When in reality, the poor dog was drugged up in a kennel for HOURS. Now here i am, waiting in the parking lot for over an hour waiting for them to bring the dog out when i called ahead of time to have her ready bc she'll be much more comfortable at home. I went inside a few minutes ago to ask where my dog was and one of the employees had the audacity to say "i cant rush the technicians when they're working on other critical patients" to which i replied "babygirl IS a critical patient". The employee had no other words to say but apologize. They were... okay. Being that they did not save my puppy, charged me a thousand dollars+ for basically 12 hours of care I couldn't really give them a stellar review in good faith. Initially my poor pup had parvo and was transferred here from the veterinary clinic with high recommendations and I didn't want her to be left alone overnight again. The Bayou Clinic was optimistic she was on her way to recovery (but not out of the woods) and I wanted to do everything I could to ensure the best chance of this happening even if it costly. They said they were expecting me but we waited a good 20 minutes after being sent to the a room to wait in with my sad puppy. HELLO THIS IS ER! HELP HER ASAP! We got there around 7:45pm and didn't get seen until 8:15 or so. They expounded on how dire her situation was when the doctor finally came in and that she would likely need 5-7 days of treatment which in my head was like upwards of 10k just based on what I've experienced so far. Their suggestion: go all out or do nothing. ( OK- I've read on an number of parvo cases where the owners could not afford this ridiculous bill did what they could with what they had and the pup still made it. ) Well, OK. I was prepared to spend a few K but 10K and you can't even ensure her survival? That's a lot of money.. (at this point I was already out 1800 at a different clinic). We asked for a 2 day quote and they literally took 45 minutes to provide this. They wanted up front payments and charged me on the high end. I then asked for a 3 day quote since the tech said each day after 2 would be on average 5-700 per day-- (not the case). This took another hour until I finally went outside to see what the hold up was. Their printer was out of toner. Seriously? Anyway I left my puppy there and hoped for the best. I got to see her one last time before I left at 11:45PM. I checked on her before I went to bed and again first thing in the morning. They said her gluose level has declined and upon further inquiry she wasn't checked prior to that since 1am. 6-7 hours without checking??? Isn't the whole point of me paying for overnight care so you can make sure something like that doesn't happen? I'm not sure that her situation was preventable or not even with more frequent checks but it does upset me to find that they didn't appear to do everything they could've to save her. By the time they administered the bolus injection of glucose it may have been too late. So for those reasons: (-4) long wait time did not explain treatment costs/payment situation well did NOT give my puppy "24 hour" care as promised did NOT explain whatever the crap care credit is. Some of the staff was helpful and sympathetic, but that's about it. They did refund me for the difference of what was initially charged and services performed. (+1) I talked to multiple doctors through out the night/day during their shift change and they appeared to be supporting her as much as possible. (+.5) I'm less confident in the techs whose checks throughout the night was basically walking by her cage and seeing if she was still breathing. (-1) Overall, 2.5 read more

Recently my dog was boarding at a kennel just before having ACL surgery - I was out of town - and he was on Previcox for pain. Previcox is an NSAID and (like Advil in humans) can cause stomach problem. Well, while I was out of town and he was there, he began vomiting and having bloody stool in the middle of the night and couldn't stop. The kennel staff took to VERGI for treatment, and they hydrated him and gave diet recommendations. I was completely beside myself hearing about all this from 1000 miles away, but I was really impressed by the staff at VERGI when I called; I asked for records so I could share them with the surgeon for the upcoming procedure, and they immediately emailed me a PDF with extensive notes and details. I was then able to go over it with the surgeon and be sure he was OK to have his leg fixed. Unexpected dog health problems while you are away is a nightmare, but I am really impressed by the thoroughness of VERGI and their assistance in getting me up to speed on what happened. read more

Christmas dinner is just out of the oven. The prime rib is cooked perfect and the rest of the meal is ready. I look over at our dog Zena, who was suffered a serious spinal injury last week and she is in distress. She is shaking like a leaf, panting like a teen at a dirty movie and in total distress. I ask my better half to come check Zena out and we decide right then and there to go to VERGI. We are so happy we did. We called first to let them know we were coming. When we arrived we were buzzed in and as we filled out the paperwork the Vet Tech Jennifer came out to ask a few questions and start the evaluation. We were upset and she tried to be patient but was all business. The Dr came out a few minutes later and took our dear Zena in to inspect her. When she came back she confirmed what our regular vet had diagnosed but she was more eloquent and precise in telling us what was happening. Dr Erbe was the 2nd opinion we should have had last week. She was compassionate and treated us with respect and spoke to us in a way we wish our regular vet would. She even taught us how to help our dog in her healing process. I wish Dr Erbe was available to be our regular vet. But alas she is an ER Vet. Jennifer the tech was wonderful. I understand why some of the ratings are so low. It is because people who come in are in a emotional traumatic state. People respond the best way they can, it is a matter of perception how that goes.. If you want to be treated well, treat others well. If you are a stressed out jerk wanting the world...well you need to know, the doctors are doing the best that they can. I hope I never have a need to go back to VERGI. But I will if it is necessary, becasue I have confidence in them. When we got home, the dinner was totally cold, But we were happy because Zena was much better, and that is all that mattered. Family First. read more

The service here is by far the worst I have experienced in the veterinary industry. 1 star for this place is like giving a Motel 6 five star status... I brought my 10 month old golden retriever in due to vomiting (9 times) and diarrhea throughout the day including being very lethargic. I arrived (6:15pm) and it took an hour before I received a call from the doctor. They recommended an X-ray be performed. I was told by the DOCTOR that it would be about two hours for results and then her assistant said it would be less than two hours for results. It took them FIVE hours to get the results back. I called them at 3, 4, and 5 hours. When I called in the 5th hour (1:00am) they told me they received the results and to let them call me back for when I could go pick her up so the process would be smooth and I wouldn't have to wait on anything (paperwork). Received the call at 1:45am. Arrived (2:05am) and I have been waiting for over FOURTY minutes to pick up my puppy. Once I got my puppy the vet tech started walking away. I had to stop him to ask where the $85 in medicine that I just paid them for was! On top of this, my puppy had a blowout in the kennel during all of this time with them and she wasn't cleaned properly and still smells like diarrhea.... I am not whatsoever confident in the quality of care provided for my puppy during this nightmare experience. read more

Nobody wants to have to go to an emergency animal hospital .The experience is is terrifying so when you have a staff as calm and caring as VERGI has you can't help but to feel a little relief. I came around 11pm on a Wednesday night. My dog has severe thunder-fright and while I was gone at work there had been a storm. I came home to him having demolished his wire crate (those black ones you buy at petsmart -apparently they aren't meant to hold a determined doggie). I noticed he was limping and saw blood on his leg. Having been a vet tech myself in the past I decided to take a look and doctor it myself. Once I got him laid out to where I could see the wound I realized this was a job for the pros and he would need surgery. I called one of my friends who is a current tech and asked where the best emergency clinic was. This is where she sent me. We had to be buzzed in because it was nighttime and a tech was with us getting his history before I had even finished filling out the paperwork. He was taken to the back immediately for his exam and the doctor came into the exam room where I was waiting to tell me he would need to stay overnight. They treated his immediate emergency, but they also went the extra mile to discuss prevention of another incident such as this one in the future. I can't remember what the name of the doctor was but she was very helpful and knowledgeable. My technician's name was Deana and she was very gentle and loving with my dog. I left with the feeling that he was in good hands and when I picked him up the next morning my feeling was confirmed. Overall they made this terrible experience a little more bearable. read more

Overall, my feelings on this place lean towards the positive. I'm grateful for the care my pup received, the cost was reasonable (given that it was emergency care), and the clinic followed up with my regular vet without me prompting. However, I'm wasn't impressed with how they prioritize patients and the speed of care since this ordeal took 10 hours. Came in on Christmas because my dog had a rather nasty bite from a larger dog which I knew required stitches (the vet tech and vet confirmed this was a bite that shredded through skin and muscle). I've been here previously with another dog so I was expecting at least a 4 hour wait and maybe 2 or so more hours because of the holiday. While the vet tech gathered my dog quickly, it probably took another 2 hours before the vet saw my dog , 2.5 more hours for the procedure, and 5.5 hours for discharge. If it's an emergency, I will probably bring my pet again since options are limited. However, be aware that this will be an all-day ordeal. read more

I understand that emergencies require quick thinking and that sometimes results in misdiagnoses, so please note that this negative review is not at all based on the misdiagnosis I received from vergi. However, just because it is an emergency does not mean that a complete lack of respect, empathy, and EXPLANATION should be tolerated, and I write this just in hopes that no other loving pet owner will go through what I went through at vergi. One day, my dog (peso) all of a sudden seemed to be struggling to use the restroom and was in obvious pain. My vet was closed so I mistakenly went to the closest emergency animal hospital, vergi, instead of asking for a recommendation. Peso's escalating pain is obvious when we get there and, despite calling ahead, it took about 15 mins until a professional even came out to lay eyes on her to assess her urgency. Finally, a tech does a 10 sec visual exam and says vet will be in soon. Even though Peso's breathing is getting heavier and her pain is worsening, we patiently wait 20 mins until vet comes in. He does a visual exam and then says he is taking peso for an ultrasound, offering no explanation so far. 10 mins later he comes back in and tells me, with absolutely no sympathy or compassion whatsoever, that we are looking at bladder cancer and that long term prognosis WITH treatment is about 6 months max. Basically he tells me I need to hurry and make a decision (with absolutely no explanation) and if I was going to try to treat her then I needed to get out of their way at this clinic because they don't do that kind of surgery or treatment there and says if I choose that he can give me a list of places that do. This whole time he seems apathetic, provides no comfort, and even has some kind of smirk while he watches me break down crying. He's in no way concerned about peso being in obvious pain or explaining anything to me. He just kind of sits there smirking, watching me cry and offers me no plan, or guide, next steps to take. He offers no other explanation or possibility. I calm down enough to tell him I'm obviously going to treat her or at least get a full diagnosis and I ask him for the list of places he told me he could give me. He says he will be right back with it and leaves my poor suffering dog, whose pain is worsening, alone in that room (with creepy surveillance cameras) for another good 25 minutes. FINALLY I hear the door open and I am relieved to know I can at least get a few questions answered and get a referral on where I can go, but instead it's just the tech again bringing me my INVOICE. The vet never comes back to answer questions. Never brings me the list of places. Just gave me a four minute consultation telling me peso had cancer and there's pretty much nothing I can do. I ask the tech for the list and she brings me one, again with no explanation, and doesn't offer to call them to tell them I'm on my way or recommend one or anything. All she cared about was that I gave her my debit card and paid the fee. I pay and sprint out of there, finding the closest place on the list--gulf coast vet specialists on wirt. Unlike vergi, upon arrival a tech was waiting for us so she could immediately take peso back. Every staff member was so compassionate and when I get taken to her exam room, the tech (I wish I remembered her name) was SO patient and comforting and let me tell her/ask her anything. A few short moments later, that same bedside manner was reciprocated by the vet, Dr. Dixon, and they reassure me that there could be several things aside from cancer that it could be, but no matter what there will be options that we can discuss. WHAT A DIFFERENCE. If I would've known to just go to gulf coast first, it would've saved me so many tears and poor peso an extra hour of being in pain (and a $100 exam fee at vergi just to be smirked at, but that's the least of my concerns). My dog ended up staying at gulf coast through the weekend and gulf coast staff constantly kept me updated. They were patient and thorough, never seemed rushed, and answered any and all questions with great explanation. It's never a situation you want to be in, but gulf coast, in comparison to vergi, seemed to genuinely care and gave me comfort knowing she was in great hands; something I would not have felt if she stayed at vergi. Oh and that diagnosis of cancer with no other explanation or possibilities? It was bladder stones. TL;DR: don't go to vergi. They do not seem to care about you or your pet and provide no explanation, no respect and no comfort. They misdiagnosed my dog with cancer and offered no other possibility. The second they realized that the procedure they thought my dog needed couldn't be done there (meaning they couldn't charge me for it), they only cared about getting my payment for the "exam" (if you can call it that), and getting me out the door. Save yourself some heartache and go right across the highway to gulf coast vet specialists. read more

DO NOT ALLOW THIS PLACE NOR THE VETERINARIAN'S EMPLOYED BY VERGI TO TOUCH YOUR FUR BABY & GUT YOUR WALLET. I had gotten an appointment to see my vet Saturday morning of a holiday weekend after my cat had stopped eating the 2 days prior. My cat is diabetic & recently diagnosed hyperthyroid. We suspected the thyroid meds (felimazole) was underlying cause for our cat not eating. My vet advised that in addition to not eating, my cat was starting to go into ketoacidosis. Our vet sent me home with fluids to administer at home subcutaneously and instructions when to administer insulin over the next two days. Later, Alex was groggy and disoriented (likely due to anti nausea med Cerenia & appetite stimulant provided earlier that day). I then realized I had administered a double dose of the electrolyte solution subQ in error & worried I had compounded the issues. In a panic, I ran to VERGI to have him looked over. I met w/ Dr. McKenzie-Long and provided detail & history along with my veterinarian's diagnosis & summary of treatment to provide at home. The doc advised the seriousness of the condition & need for overnight stay with IV fluids, insulin & constant monitoring. She repeated that it would be 24-hour stay and one of the staff would bring a treatment plan to review. Just a few min later, the doc came back in the exam room advising she felt this was a 48-hour stay & her treatment plan would be updated. A bit later, the vet assistant came into the room with the treatment plan for review which now included a 72-hour hospital stay at a cost of $3,000. I was in tears. The vet assistant left the room for me to take it all in and would return to answer any questions I had. I had come to VERGI worried about over administering the electrolyte solution in error and the impact on an elderly sick cat. How did this escalate from 24-HR 72-HR without so much as one diagnostic test? The doc hadn't a single diagnostic test in-hand at time of working up this treatment plan. ZERO DIAGNOSTICS yet situation so dire that it warranted a 3-day stay. No one had checked blood glucose, pH, ketones in urine and/or blood. I did not have my vets lab results from earlier in the day so this was truly based on zero data. The vet assistant returned to the room to answer questions when I advised I could not afford $3,000. She left and the doc came into the room aggressively advising that Alex is gravely ill & I need to commit to the treatment plan or euthanize Alex that night. The doctor left the room and the vet assistant returned. I again advised I could not afford 3k & asked to run the diagnostic tests first. Let's see #'s first then make a decision. The plan now at $275 to run a handful of tests. I agreed to the plan. The doc came back into the room, still aggressive in stance and tone breathing heavy and hyped up. The doc now advising that the treatment plan of 72-hours and $3,000 was merely a starting point and we were really looking at at least 5-days in hospital and a much higher monetary commitment. We asked what Alex's prognosis would be if we admitted him to hospital for this treatment and the doc said "very guarded" and that we'd possibly be in this same position in 30 days. Again, this was before seeing results of tests. The doc again advised that if we couldn't commit to the treatment plan that we must euthanize Alex. I advised the doc that I needed to take my cat home for the night as I wasn't ready to say goodbye. She left the room only to return a few min later with labs even more hyped up advising how grim the situation was as she showed the results. I ask about my ability to treat Alex at home as I had two bags of fluids, capable of syringe feeding, monitoring glucose/ketone levels at home. The doc said no way I could manage my cat's care repeating euthanasia was only option outside of the now 5-day hospital stay. Now I was starting to feel very uncomfortable. VERGI was repeatedly up selling their treatment "plan" which grew by 2 days each time I showed my emotions. Vultures. I grabbed Alex, paid bill & went home. I continued the treatment plan as prescribed to me that morning by my regular vet and here I sit two days later with a cat that is seemingly back to normal. He's alert, energetic and eating on his own. I continue to administer SubQ fluids, monitor food intake/blood glucose/urine ketones and pray we maintain until I can get back to my regular vet tomorrow. I'm still appalled that I was provided with two options, thousands of dollars or euthanasia. Nothing in between. Vultures and opportunists. read more

I took my dog in yesterday morning after he started breaking out in hives and his face was swollen after eating something unknown in our apartment complex. The waiting room was packed when I got there but they got a tech out immediately to review his symptoms with me and get him to the back for treatment. I met with the doctor about half an hour or so later to review his treatment, what I'm able to give him currently and for any potential future instances. Dr. Baudy was very friendly and thorough. He explained that my dog was just being monitored now to make sure his swelling was going down and he was responding to treatment. Since it turned out to be an allergy, not poison, he explained that I could continue giving my pup Benadryl OTC, purchase Prednisone from the clinic for $25, or fill the rx with my pharmacy. I appreciated the options and did not hesitate to get the meds from them to save time and frustration. O did have to wait quite a while for my boy but I understood and was grateful that they wanted to keep him a bit longer. Everyone there was pleasant and always treated you and your pet with respect, calling them "your baby" and such which may sound silly, but when your pet is your baby, this is much more comforting than alternatives. Someone came out to reiterate treatment and at home treatment, as well as costs. Office visit is $98 as clearly posted in the waiting area. I felt that costs were fair overall. The waiting area was clean and comfortable. There was a coke machine and coffee (albeit cold) and there were blankets in a bin that were clean and neatly folded for use. The only complaint I had during my whole visit was that they had to call to the back at least 3 times before they brought my dog up front. I also would have liked to have seen my dog at some point while he was in the back to ease my concerns while I was waiting. I was there an overall of right at 2 hours but we left healthy and happy. read more

I really wished I could give them zero stars! The worst experience EVER. I took my puppy to get checked and someone came out to get my dog to take her to the back and without my permission or discussing prices they shaved my dogs neck and arm, then called me on the phone since everything is curbside due to the pandemic to hit me with a $500 dollar bill when all they did was give my puppy dextrose!! After I declined and told them to bring my puppy back to me to go elsewhere they purposely took forever to bring my poor dog out. They were really quick to come outside to get my credit card though! When they finally brought my dog she looked worst then when I originally took her! They do not care for animals they care for money! Don't take your animal here there are places that do care for animals. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE! read more

I took my dog since he was attacked by another dog and his eye got hurt . They took care of him he looked happy when we arrived he just wanted to kiss all the workers and he was OK with staying but when I went to take him for his follow up for the bandages to get removed we got a different veterinarian named Liz and she was not kind to me and my dog she basically took a look at him and decided he was a bad dog and aggressive because he's a pitbull and started to lecture me about how to take care of my dog and what I need to do to make him not fight when she did not know how he got hurt . She automatically assumed he was the aggressor my baby is the sweetest pitbull he is not a fighter he gets along with my cat he he just loves to love you and she was just looking at him so ugly and animals can fill when one person doesn't like them so he growled a little bit I told him to stop he completely stopped and continue to just lay on the floor and she started calling him aggressive and he needs to be put to sleep so that she can look at his bandages and proceeded to tell me it would take a while but in a way that she was insinuating that she was going to take her time because she did not want to see him The first time I went when he was attacked the doctor I forgot his name but it was a male doctor and he was very understanding and did not seem in any way that he was stereotyping my dog liz on the other hand stereotyped him and just assume he is aggressive and mean those were the exact words she told me so I left and I am looking for a different place to take him to get checked out for his bandages because I feel like she would not take care of my dog and give them the best care . Came here late last night until now for a dog having screaming fits, sporadically crying in pain. It happened 6 times randomly in a 2 hour period so we brought him here. They doped him up with pain meds (knocked him out) so they were unable to observe these fits I brought him in for. So now I'm going home with my drugged dog, a 4 hour wait, no answers and $190 bill. I guess I'll take him to our real vet tomorrow and start all over? I can't imagine a scenario where I walk into an ER cause I've had extreme pain for hours and the doctors give me a shot, knock me out and then shrug they don't see what could be wrong. Awesome. The gentleman who got our dog curbside was fantastic and gentle. The receptionist and lady that discharged our dog were great. The vet herself was short, rude and abrasive with an inability to listen and lacking the care to try to help. Coming here was certainly a mistake. My dog is having screaming fits as I TAKE HIM HOME! Vergi 24/7 gave my mom and brother the run around with their poor pup who needed emergency care for a gash that left his bottom eyelid flapping open with a gaping wound. They went to go get a consultation and when they were told the overall cost, which they were asked to pay upfront, they needed to wait until they had the means to pay for it. When they tried to go back with their dog the very next day, this vet tech Krystal dismissed his situation as "selective surgery" and not "emergency surgery", which would delay the availability for them to see a vet, unless they paid $600+ to call in an outside surgeon. They also needed to take a photograph of the statement they had drafted the day before because they were so unprofessional, they hadn't even logged the visit from the previous day in their system!!! NOT ONLY THAT- they had prescribed THE WRONG MEDICATION which caused The dog's wound to get infected!! Luckily, another near by clinic could accept their dog the same day, and began care that same night. Because there was such a big delay in time- all thanks to Vergi continuing to delay seeing the Vet, the wound began closing up. They had the audacity to charge for a visit in which THEY DID NOTHING BUT PRESCRIBE THE WRONG MEDICINE THAT CAUSED INFECTION. I get being busy, and I understand that there are different tiers of emergencies, but do not come at us like our situation is a selective one when we come prepared for payment and then push us to the side. *Krystal was entirely disrespectful and showed zero sensitivity to our situation and treated us like garbage. Choose any other place but this one. I had a certificate (given to me for an overcharge I had there approximately two years ago). I used the certificate on my cat about a week ago, the amount was less than the certificate and I was told I would be getting a refund. I have it signed that one would be forthcoming. I spoke to financial services manager on the phone who assured me that after talking with the director I woud be sent the certificate. After waiting a week with no certificate and no word, I called today, spoke with an extremely rude and unprofessional woman who stated she was "about to call me" to tell me there would be no refund. My certificate was for a one time use only. I said, "How could that be, if I was to use it for vaccinations (as stated on the certificate it was possible to do) I would surely have a remainder balance. The bottom line is this: I am owned $235 in credit which I am now being told I cannot have. I was treated deplorably by the administration of VERGI and I will do my best to let people know that customer service matters- as well as honoring your intentions. VERGI has failed on both accounts. I can't say enough to recommend the VERGI 24 HOUR EMERGENCY HOSPITAL and Dr. Sutherland. I brought my dog Miley in late on Sat, afternoon, I eventually had to have her put to sleep, I am very grateful that I chose this clinic for an ultrasound and diagnoses. Every member of the staff that I had contact with was respectful and helpful. Their pride in their work and love for the animals entrusted to their care was obvious. Throughout my visit, Dr. Sutherland gave me all the information I needed to make my decision, printing out and carefully explaining Miley's test results. I have seldom dealt with a doctor who was so skilled at conveying complex medical information while neither overwhelming me nor condescending to me; she helped me to understand all of the ramifications of the tests while treating both me and my dog with dignity and respect. On top of everything else, the fees were very reasonable. If you're where I was that horrible day, paging through reviews and wondering which place to take your ailing little companion, I urge you to choose these kind and knowledgeable people. read more

My husband and I are very pleased with Vergi! Our dog had been at a daycare/boarding facility and they called to tell us they thought she might have Kennel Cough. We came in and the front staff was polite. We waited for 10 minutes and were escorted into a room. The vet tech was super sweet. The doctor was amazing- very patient! She even spoke "baby talk" with our dog, Princess Kate. She gave us two options and gave us quotes. There were no surprises. Overall, I am relieved and happy we came here. Somehow we got a magnet from vergi and we are glad we got one. We were quickly seen and the prices seemed reasonable for an emergency.

An ER visit is never fun because you're worried about your fur baby and they are always expensive- no matter where you go! We have experienced Gulf Coast a couple of times in the past and felt indifferent about it so we decided to give Vergi a try. We took our two small dogs in over the weekend due to extreme nausea and some vomiting. We believe they got into some bug repellent. Upon arrival, we had prompt & friendly service from the front desk and the technician immediately came to our vehicle to pick up the dogs (due to Covid). She was also friendly. After about two hours of monitoring, we received a call from Dr. Johnston who was thorough and was happy to answer any of our questions. Their nausea had stopped, vitals were good and there were no signs of seizures, etc. We received some meds to help coat their stomachs. The reason for the 4 star is because of the check out process. We felt the cost was expected, but it took way too long. After speaking with the doctor and signing discharge papers, we had to wait almost an hour for them to bring out the dogs. Also, everyone we encountered was happy to help except there was one technician that we briefly encountered. She might be the rude staff mentioned in some other reviews. I LOVE this place. They saved so many of our rescue dogs!!! This place supports rescues like no others. Bunch of our Shepherds who were on a death door would not be here now living a great life if not for an extremely knowledgeable and compassionate stuff at Vergi!!! Dr Lawrence and Dr Noaker are board certified in internal medicine , Dr Rutter is board certified in emergency ad critical care. Very rare !!! Sammy went outside to do his business, barely could make it back to his automatic dog door 10 minutes later. He was shaking, pupils enlarged, and foaming at the mouth. I was terrified. Upon getting there, the staff immediately took him away and another vet tech asked me some questions about his background ie; what medications are he taking? what do you know happened? After answering the questions, the staff asked me if I needed any water or anything. Very sweet of them to ask because I had now idea what was going on with my baby. A couple of minutes later, we were taken into an exam room and the vet explained to me that he had licked a toad and this was very common for dachshunds. Oh thank goodness. He was just high. They requested he get an EKG, blood-work, and then stay overnight but I declined because I felt he didn't need all that but I requested for his Cerenia shot and IV fluids to get him hydrated again. I got my baby back and left confident that he was going to be okay. Great staff, very nice and takes the time to explain what they're going to do to your pet and why and what they suspect happened to your pet. Pretty hefty price but hey, it's an EMERGENCY CLINIC and I'm sure it's costly to keep the place operational 24/7 365. Thanks VERGI. I recently found myself at VERGI when I came home from work to find that my dog was seemingly in a lot of pain... Tail down, yelping when trying to be touched, wouldn't even touch her favorite treat! When I called my normal vet, they recommended that I take her to VERGI. There was absolutely no wait to get in at the time. The vet tech (young, male, supernice, wish I'd caught his name!) came out immediately and asked me all the necessary questions, and took my pooch back to get checked. About 15 minutes later, I was taken into a room to speak with the Vet on duty. Dr. Dayna Baxter was extremely friendly and sympathetic. She gave me a great overview of what could possibly be going on with my pup including drawing out possible back pain scenarios on a dry erase board... I was super impressed. VERGI could have charged me an arm and a leg to do xrays, heavens knows I would have paid it, but Dr. Baxter was honest and practical and said she didn't think they were necessary at that time. I went home with a minimal bill and some anti-inflammatories and 4 days later, my pup was as good as new. Dr. Baxter even sent me home with a few complimentary pill pockets as I expressed concern about giving my dog her pills when she wouldn't even eat her favorite treat! I was totally satisfied with the level of care I received at VERGI and would recommend it to anyone in a pet emergency. read more

We had to put down our bullmastiff rocky yesterday and couldn't have been more pleased with the people at Vergi. We have taken him here a couple of times when he was sick and everyone there was so great. They made the process so easy and rocky felt safe with them.
