The strangest part of my trip to NYC was my cell phone suddenly failing on Saturday afternoon. It couldn't read my SIM card leaving me unable to text, call, or access the mobile network. In the middle of a gathering with friends in midtown, I excused myself and went to one local Verizon store, which got me nowhere.  So the next morning, after being unable to get a rep on the phone, which wasn't shocking, we went to this Soho location. The store opened at 11 am, and we were standing in front of the store by 10:30. And with 15 minutes, the guy had my phone working again with a new card that I wasn't charged for. We were treated very respectfully and had a great experience. read more

Customer service was telling me my bill did not increase $50.00 and I told them look at my last two bills and my next. They still insisted it did not increase and basically called me a liar. My old IPhone crapped out when in to buy a new phone and yada yada yada 900.00 later and they lost all my contacts and text message and after 2.5 hours for the last 2 nights trying to figure out what the hell the guy did, the final result was the "manager" telling me to go home and get my iPad and see if that could help restore my contacts and I ran home drove back after already being there for 2.5 hours ( day 2 of this shit) and ..guess what? As a tech challenged person I was unsure of how much patience the store personnel would have for my many questions and was prepared for eyerolls and frustration from the store personnel. I am happy to tell you that my fears were completely, incandescently, unwarranted. From the first moment when Emily encountered me she was thoroughly knowledgeable with respect to all my questions and was supremely patient in explaining to me in great depth the way the phone works even as I at times asked her to repeat certain details. This fine lady never hesitated to make me feel better when I would apologize for asking her to repeat things even two or three times. She was sincerely helpful to me no matter the question and never rushed me even one time. I am supremely grateful to this intelligent and very patient woman. But that's not all. Over the next three days I visited the store at 581 Broadway NY NY two other times seeking more information and advice about the phone. And on BOTH THOSE occasions...first with a wonderful gentleman named Eric and the next day with the equally intelligent and patient Cee...I was astounded to find that Eric and Cee were just as smart and patient and helpful as was Emily on my first visit to the store. I rate Emily and Eric and Cee 100% devoted to helping customers with all aspects of the purchase and operation of any item they buy at this singularly helpful Verizon Corporate Store at 581 Broadway NY NY. It is my privilege to have shopped there and to have made the acquaintance of all three of these wonderful people. Do yourself a favor and save your time and dignity--DO NOT GO TO THIS VERIZON LOCATION!! Manager, James, is extremely rude and unprofessional to paying clients! Absolutely horrendous customer service! I walked into the store and wanted to inquire about changing my phone's family plan due to consistent, exorbitant data overage charges every month. I tried to do it online, but it would only allow me to change the plan for one specific phone number on the family plan (when there are 3 phone numbers on the family plan I have). I went to the Soho location and James, the manager at the location, was extremely rude and berated me for 20 minutes until I walked out of the store. I asked to take a look at my phone bill to go over it and compare it to the new "unlimited data" plan he was suggesting I switch to as he claimed it would be "significantly cheaper" than my current plan. I wanted to do my due diligence and understand my itemized billing for what I was currently paying for and what would be different in the plan he was suggesting before making any switches. He consistently refused to show me my own bill after asking me to sign into my account on his iPad where the bill was pulled up. He would constantly grab his iPad back and not allow me to look at my own bill and say "this is my tablet" and then continue to say he was "doing me a favor" today by "helping me". Hilarious and absolutely childish. He then said (after 20+ minutes), he can't even help me update my plan--that I would have to do it online myself or go through customer service because "this is a retail store" and that he doesn't have the authority to upgrade my plan. Absolutely ridiculous. Why tell me this after wasting my time for 20+ minutes when the first thing I told him is that I wanted to assess my bills to potentially change plans or not in-store as I couldn't do it online. After 20+ minutes of these charades and extreme unprofessionalism from James, I walked out. read more

Finally got rid of my Verizon landline. This review is more about Verizon than the individual store. The dialtone stopped. Called service, made an appointment for sometime between 10AM and 2PM, after texting "on the way," they never showed up. Rescheduled, 2 days later. This one between 9AM and 5PM. Again, they didn't show up, no text at all this time. Then, I went to the Verizon at 581 B'way. There was a line to speak to anyone, even ask a general question. I waited some time to speak to an agent. "We don't do landland lines here," he said. He then sent me to the Delancy Street office, about a mile away... "We don't do cancellations" they said at Delancy Street. Had to hike back home. The Verizon website is useless. A human does eventually answer the phone when you tell them you want to disconnect. I'm now 212-free! Go T-Mobile for cellular! For a big corporation, they're one of the best of 'em. And cut that cord. Verizon just doesn't deserve the business. read more

It was a bad experience. Today my daughter went to this company to add a line. But the employee charged $30 in cash for the phone call. But it's always been charged to my account. Why the extra cash charge. I suspect this employee lied to my child. And he got my trasfer number wrong. And a terrible attitude. Not helping out with problems. And left it to my daughter to do it. Do we need to go to the store if we know how to do it? This is clear discrimination. It took hours to sort it out. I was going to go back to Access Wireless, because Congress hadn't renewed the Affordable Connectivity Program. Verizon offered me a $200 gift card if I would stay with them. Then they called me and said I had to get a different box (Internet Gateway). They said they would ship it to me and send me a return label to return the box that I had. They said I had to return my old box and call them when the new box arrived to get the $200 gift card. I never got the new box, so I couldn't call them to get the $200 gift card. read more

My Verizon iPhone was stolen on 5/31/2023. I did an hour or so of research (having had a pretty bad experience earlier this year at the Grand Central Verizon store near where I live) and saw the excellent Yelp March 2023 review of the GM at the Soho store, Kevin Geneous. I went down to the Soho store, found Kevin and had a great experience. He got me a new phone and retrieved every bit of my data (apps, texts, emails, photos, etc.) from the iCloud - all while supervising the staff and all within about an hour - 95% of which was download time. Excellent customer service. Highly recommended. read more

Of all the Verizon stores in all of NYC the SoHo location is my favorite. And the main reason is for their staff. Excellent customer service form the moment you walk in the door. Over the span of a week I visited twice - first to check out my upgrading options and then to make a purchase. It's been a while since I shopped for a new phone and then Verizon recently updated their plans - so I had a lot of questions... the staff at the store answered each and every question I had and couldn't have been nicer about it. My go-to Verizon for sure. My only complaint - and maybe its a silly one - was the temp of the store. Holy cannoli was it warm in there. It's hot outside, Verizon! I applied for a post paid account back in May 2023 and my account was never activated by the sales person. I didn't know this until I called to register for my DisneyPlus package. I was told by their IT department that I didn't have a post paid account; instead the sales person activated a prepaid account which I already had. I was signing up for a free Iphone 14, the Disney package, the Apple One, and premium package. Since I wanted an Iphone 14 pro max, I was told I would have to pay the difference across 36 months of 400.00. I sent them my I phone 13 pro max which would be credited $1000.00. Verizon sent me a bill for the entire amount for I phone 14 and when I questioned where my $1000 credit was they said since my post paid account was never activated I lost the credit and all promotions. The only was to rectify it was to pay the phone in full and then I would be credited 42.00 each month for 24 months. I agreed and paid the phone and signed up for the post paid account. Today I was told by Verizon they could not honor that agreement and there was nothing I could do. They are going to have Alred who was the last person to help me call me back to tell me he made a mistake. I have spoke to over a dozen people in the last three months and each of them from different departments, on conference calls for three to four hours at a time. Each person has told me the last person was wrong and that they would take care of it. What they have done is taken my phone that was only a year old, dishonored the previous promotion I was to receive, blamed me for not activating the phone, refusing to give me the 1000.00 credit for my phone, took my 1300.00 payment for the new phone and I got not NOTHING for changing to post paid from pre paid. AND tonight while at the mall my granddaughter tried to use my hot spot, and when I called customer service to find out why my hot spot wasn't working I was told I do not have mobile hot spot with my new plan. I had unlimited with my prepaid plan which was $15.00 less per month! Since they won't return my original phone nor give me credit I have to spend more time and money to continue to get my phone credit. read more

He was so patient as I called my family to organize all of our devices and accounts. Helped us through all of the steps for a solid hour and fifteen minutes and was so nice. I needed to go into a store to resolve a Cloud issue on an old phone, so I went to the nearest store which was obviously a mistake. The representative who assisted me was rude and kind of condescending, thinking that I didn't know what I was talking about when I told him the steps I had taken already. I'd been on the phone with a Verizon IT guy (who was super friendly and helpful) for about 30 minutes or so prior to going into the store so I knew what the issue was. The representative didn't attempt to do anything with the phone and said that there was nothing he could so. But he told me I should call the IT guy back. Verizon, please hire better representatives. Seriously, I just wanted to exchange money for a phone but the manager was a sexist pig and wouldn't help me because I wasn't the "head honcho" on my account. My name is on the account and I have account "manager" status. I have bought many phones over the years without my "honcho" present. I went to a store in Brooklyn and he sold me a phone with zero hassle and a simple ID check. Then I discover that the manger at the first store even changed my account status without consent, so I could no longer chat with support. This guy sucks. Staff here is poorly informed and under-productive. (I'm actually writing this In the store while a rep is looking at cars for sale on the iPad next to me. There are two people still waiting to speak to service reps, and this guy isn't even paying attention to what's happening around him.) My boyfriend and I were greeted with a friendly customer service rep at first, and the rep who attempted to solve our issue was kind enough. However, this rep did not accept much responsibility for ensuring my boyfriend's or my customer satisfaction. As I write this, my boyfriend is on the phone with customer service (not even the manager offered to call for us to help solve this issue), while 3 reps stand around and chat at the counter with the manager playing on his phone nearby. We might as well have called and skipped the effort of coming into the store, since nobody here has actually attempted to help solve the issue any better than my boyfriend or I could ourselves. I have had customer service in northern California which far exceeds the quality and professionalism of the service in this NY store. It's too bad this store is giving me such a poor image of NY. Me: Can you help me understand why that 3G laptop seems to load websites faster than this 4G tablet? Employee behind desk: They're both running 4G. Me: But the laptop network says 3G. [Employee gets up, walks over to your laptop] Employee: Oh yeah, it is running 3G. Me: So do you know why the 3G device seems to load web pages faster than the 4G tablet? Employee: Well, 4G is 10 times faster than 3G. And you can run up to 5 devices on a mobile hotspot. [Customer gives up, shoots self in head in frustration] OK, so that last line was a fib, but this tale illustrates the level of product knowledge you'll find at 581 Broadway. At least the employees are completely honest in their ineptitude. The one exception is the door greeters, who seem to be universally cheerful. read more

It's certainly not the worst Verizon store I've been in...I'll reserve that for the one in Washington Heights. The service here is fine...eveyone seems pretty willing to help when selling accessories (pretty sure it's because they get commission on the sale). I wouldn't trust them with knowledge about devices...but when it comes to stopping in for other things, it's a great pop in and out store. This store has excellent customer service all around, but the biggest praise has to go to Scott. Having your phone stolen before a big holiday is never fun. I had already called Apple and went to another store, stressed at the idea of having to sell my unborn first child for a new mini computer. Luckily, when I called and spoke to Scott, he suggested a way to take advantage of an in-store promotion that didn't leave me completely penniless. The promo was confusing at first, but after careful explanation (a chat with my mom :P), I had a new phone, change in my data plan, and a new tablet. Scott and the rest of the team here were incredible. I was easily able to access the internet with their assistance and the wait time to actually get the phone set up and ready was light years faster than I've ever experienced before (even with some technical delays!). I went to this store to get help with a crappy mifi device that some other Verizon retail store sold me. It didn't work and was crashing my laptop and the service kept going off and on. Instead of just telling me I had to go back to that store and return it/deal with it, Alex went completely **above and beyond** to HELP me and she didn't give up until I walked out of the store with a new working device. She made multiple calls on my behalf to try and sort out the obstacles due to the other device being on my account, and she was just STELLAR and friendly and actually CARED about helping me and making sure I left happy! It's hard to find this level of amazing customer serving anymore. I'm SO happy with her and everything she did for me. She's a diamond in the rough of life! Thank you Alex!!!! read more

When I originally entered this location, I was greeted by Rokeisha who was professional and helpful in answering my billing questions. However, she did not give me that "wow" feeling I've experienced in other Verizon stores with great customer service. Having worked in customer service and frequenting various establishments, I expect to be made to feel as though I am being offered all products and services available to me based on my needs. I spoke with the manager, Jorge, and expressed my concerns in that I heard about a specific product offered and wanted more information and was prepared to purchase. He was extremely understanding and diligent to improve my experience. After our discussion, Jorge paired me with Luis who was EXCELLENT! He offered other products and services and was extremely knowledgeable on the product I was purchasing. In addition, he provided his contact information in case there are any issues or concerns with this product. This is the type of service I expect to receive no matter who I deal with at Verizon.
