Later, two male staff members repeatedly passed by our table to assist neighboring tables but ignored me despite several attempts at eye contact. Whether it came down to not ordering alkie (we can't drink wine) or something else (we were the only POC table outside), it's not a good feeling. Please try the Pain Perdue, it's such a luxurious bite. The combination of a slightly bitter caramel with the creaminess of the custard is perfect. Top off your bite with some ice cream and you've got a delicious bite. The fondue is definitely a fun dish. You get little forks and the potatoes are crispy perfection. I loved the dark movie theater mood upon walking in. When we walked in, the first thing we noticed was a marquee with entree items which I thought was brilliant. Instead of traditional menus, you look up at the marquee to see their daily offerings. My husband and I walked in around 8:30pm on a Tuesday evening and were able to nab 2 bar stools immediately (no reservation required). We were met by a lovely server who was very attentive. I had to try a glass of wine because it was a wine bar after all. Hand on heart, Verjus is one of the best gems in the city of SF! I've been here 2 times and both times have been absolutely incredible! The service is great and the menu while limited, is perfectly curated. The ambiance is romantic and vibe, and I love how every table has fleur de sel, black pepper, and good olive oil! The mussels on toast was my favorite bite of 2025! The mussels were succulent and fresh, and beautifully balanced on a crispy piece of bread. I cannot rave enough about this dish! We also tried the lightly tossed salad, which is refreshing and piled high! The manchego sausage is a good meaty bite, the bread is crusty with perfect butter, the beets were well balanced, the fondue is a must, but the pièce de résistance is the pain perdu. Minus one star because I have not eaten here! So the rating is based on my experience with the wine bar portion of the restaurant. This place was recommended to me by a friend and it did not disappoint. The wine selection was abundant and the service was good. We did have to wait a little to be seated inside, and the way they do that is by writing your name down on a chalkboard which was interesting but at least you can keep track of who is next. The ambiance, the service, the food are all amazing. Our server recommended a rosé that was perfect by itself and with our meal. Reasons for 4 stars were because the rattan chairs were quite uncomfortable with no back and no cushion, they are small and low chairs so if you happen to be taller, your legs might get tired bending them for the meal duration plus the corners of the chairs were digging into my thighs. Service was friendly but a bit lacking at the beginning of our meal, it slightly picked up (being tend to) towards the tail end of our meal. They do seat everyone on stools, so you have to hang your jacket on a coat rack - they do have a few scattered throughout. The space is gorgeous and we were sat right by the open kitchen. One thing to note is that the menu is on the marquee and we had to crane our necks a bit to read it. We started with their special escargot which were buttery and garlicky perfection. The fondue was very funky in a good way. The liver mousse was phenomenal and the bread was perfect with it. The Boursin omelet was so creamy and delicious. We also had the duck confit which was pretty well done, but is better at L'Ardoise. The standout of the night was their pain perdu dessert. There was quite a bit of hype around verjus and I'd heard great things about its popularity before Covid. I finally managed to secure a Friday night reservation, and I am glad I did. The interior was charming, perfect for a date night or an intimate small group dinner. They also had a cave area at the back, which looked ideal for larger gatherings or events. Being at a wine bar, we ordered some wine along with a few dishes to share. The bread and butter were great, especially after spotting the butter tower in the kitchen. However, the razor clams felt overpriced, and I was disappointed they were chopped instead of whole. We also ordered the omelette Boursin, sugar snap peas, and the lamb sausage special - they were pretty unique and flavorful. I had a great time overall even though it was on the pricier side. Definitely try to make a reservation if you can. They open up a week early at midnight, and they're pretty easy to make. Alternatively, you can also set alerts for your desired date and time and get text/email alerts whenever a time slot opens. The space is much larger than it appears from the outside. My friend and I were seated on the side with the bar, which was a bit too loud, but it was much quieter on the other side where the bathroom is. I was here to catch up with my friend, so it would've been nice if we had been seated in the quieter side. Oh well. On our side, most of the seats were bar stool-type seats with no back, so I had to awkwardly hold onto my purse. They have hooks along the walls for jackets. They have a good selection wine and some cocktails + beer for alcohol as well as some non-alcoholic options. The food menu is posted on a board on the wall, so I'm guessing it changes on a fairly frequent basis. After some debate, we shared the below: chicken liver mousse ($16) bread & butter ($8) duck for two ($90) pain perdu ($16) Everything was so so good. The chicken liver mousse was super creamy and paired well with the bread it came with. It's a generous amount of mousse, so we ordered additional bread to eat it with. The duck was phenomenal. I don't think I've had such amazing duck in a while. It's roasted and served in slices, so it was super easy to eat. Each slice was super tender and juicy. The vegetables that were served on the side were super fresh too. Our favorite was the turnips. After the duck, we were completely stuffed. But I was determined to try the pain perdu as I had seen it mentioned in multiple reviews, and I'm so glad I did! It looks like french toast with a scoop of ice cream on top, but each warm bite tasted like almost like custard and paired well with the ice cream. I was a huge fan of this dessert. He brought me a new cup every time, I finished one. Razer Clams: 5/5 Honestly Razer Clams are my favorite clams!! When I saw this on the menu I had to get it. Dish didn't disappoint. I wish there were more restaurants in the Bay Area that serve razor clams. Oeus Mentaiko: 5/5 Highly recommend. The soft boil egg was cooked perfectly!! Sauce complemented the egg every well. Mussels Escabeche: 5/5 LOVEEE! The Mussels was seasoned really well. The seasoning reminds me of the taste of fresh kimchi. Bread Pudding: 5/5 Perfect sweetness!Crispy outside with soft bread pudding center. Leek Vinaigrette: 4/5 This was very unique. It had a bunch of nuts stopped on the leek, gave it a lot of texture. Was finally able to snag reservations here - I set up an alert for Wednesday reservations, which opened up on Monday. You definitely need a reservation here since walk-in is pretty hard to get a table. The place decor was so cute and had amazing vibes and amazing service. While we waited for our table, they served us champagne on the house! I ordered the leeks, oeufs, pork croquette, and pain perdu. My favorite by far was the pain perdu - definitely save room for dessert! It was perfectly sweet and warm and really hit the spot. Came here for quick drink and some snacks. Our server was so sweet! The vibe is amazing but we were sat in the second room which wad not the main area and so it was a little bit less vibey but still very beautiful. We asked for a wine recommendation and the bottle was a 10/10. Food wise, a few vegetarian options the bread of course and I enjoyed the omelette. The meat eaters loved the little starters and sausage. I would love to come back and try the desserts! read more

Visited on a Thursday night around 8:30pm with a friend. Place was packed most seats and tables were taken so added ourselves to the waitlist, there were 4-5 other groups ahead of the two of us. Decided to grab drink and snacks at the bar while we waited, they do take a number down if you want to wait somewhere else. We were seated after about a 30-40 min wait. Drinks: Nice selection of wine by the glass written on the chalkboard, got to do a little taste before committing to a full glass which is great if you are indecisive. Cocktails, beer and non-alcoholic options availible as well. Food: Bread and Butter - served nice and hot, crisp baguette with lots of butter, can't really go wrong with bread and butter, each "table has salt and olive oil as well so you can really season your own dish as you please which is nice Mussels Escabeche - really tasty but on the oily side, 2 plump mussels on a thin crostini served with an aioli, lots of olive oil and pickled onions, a great bite to start the meal, came with 3 small crostini to an order Pate en croute - a generous portion, served chilled with grainy mustard, prune, and cornichon, pastry was a nice golden brown, meat pate in the center was plainly seasoned so the accoutrements really helped to make each bite a little more interesting, very heavy, definitely meant to be shared, didn't wow us but wanted to give it a try since this isn't on many menus Leeks vinaigrette - 4 leeks topped with an tangy herbaceous hazelnut vinaigrette, beautifully presented, I wish this were served warm so that leeks soaked in the sauce, hazelnuts added a great crunchy texture to the silky leeks, portion size on this one is a little small Duck Confit - a pretty large duck leg served on top of fava beans, a delicious creamy green sauce and a a demi-glace, and a few greens, meat was tender and well seasoned, skin was nice and crisp, this dish was comforting while feeling new and interesting at the same time, perfectly seasoned, if you like duck would recommend ordering this one Service was fairly good, staff is knowledgeable about the wine and food. Dishes felt well paced, staff checked in through our meal and made sure we got food orders in before last call. Team changed plate and silverware when mains arrived which was a nice touch. Water was refilled periodically. Overall enjoyed revisiting Verju post pandemic, great spot for date night with a nice selection of wine and an interesting food menu. Make a reservation if you can to avoid the wait. Spot is pricey for the experience but worth a try. read more

This place is such a vibe. We got the omelet and bread with butter. Both dishes were great. The omelet melts in your mouth and was definitely the most high quality egg dish I've tried. Ambiance is wonderful and so are the staff! Want to come back here for a full meal soon read more

I'm so happy I finally got to try this place! We came on a Thursday after work and got a seat at the communal table. Our server was super friendly and talked us through the food menu and wine selection. We shared a delicious bottle of orange wine and some chicken liver mousse, bread and butter, and the pain perdu. The chicken liver mousse was so delicious, paired with a really lovely soft bread. And the pain perdu was a perfect dessert--warm caramel-y bread with ice cream. The restaurant itself was busy with lots of happy grabbing drinks or dinner after work, but it made for such a fun happy hour spot. read more

SUPER SUPER cute spot for a casual (???) but also upscale spot with great wine, good food, and good vibes. WE walked in around 5pm on a Wed and they mentioned that they would definitely have seating for 2 people, which was great, because as much as I love a packed restaurant, it's a bit stuffy. We ended up sitting at the bar which was actually really cute and super worth it, chatted with the bartender. We got the croquette, the pate en croute, the asapragus with hollandaise, the manchego sausage, and the pan perdu. they were doing a wine popup as well so got the vino du jour (always great!!). highly recommend the pate and the sausage, kind of exactly what you want. read more
