It is always hard to get a spot at Verjus. I am not very much the kind of person who likes to fork over credit card info for a reservation. So the only way for me to get a seat at Verjus was to arrive just half an hour before the kitchen closes. This approach has its problem: menu options are limited. We went ahead with the chocolate mousse and something I still cannot read (yes I like to order stuff from the menu that I have never seen in the past). The chocolate mousse was absolutely delicious: rich in flavor but light in texture. The other dessert was so-so. Will try to go by again to try the regular stuff. Stay tuned!

Verjus feels like stepping into a charming French bistro, but with a distinctly modern San Francisco twist. The space strikes the perfect balance of cozy and elevated- intimate, effortlessly stylish, and the kind of place where you want to linger over every course. It's a wine bar at heart and they have an extensive, thoughtfully curated wine list. Sharing a bottle over dinner made the entire experience feel even more transportive- like spending an evening at a neighborhood bistro in Paris. Their staff are knowledgeable to help guide you to the perfect bottle! The food was incredible!! Every dish felt thoughtfully and beautifully executed, with classic French techniques presented in a way that felt fresh and contemporary rather than heavy and traditional. The flavors were refined, seasonal, and memorable from start to finish. Bread & butter - warm, crusty bread with a soft, fresh interior. simple perfection **Sausage- must order!! super moist and probably one of the best sausages I have had Poulet au Citron- chicken was moist, flavorful, sauce complimented it perfectly **Confit de canard - must order!! duck confit was perfect in every way from the crispy skin to the sauce...just wow **Omelette au Boursin - must order!! it was actually perfect, so simple yet well executed, creamy, rich & indulgent Pâté en croûte - great starter, pate is wrapped in a baked pastry dough Lamb croquete- rich, savory lamb ragu inside a crispy golden brown crust Salade de Vrilles - simple, fresh, light Couteaux - razor clams with meyer lemon, served ceviche style, fresh Whatever you do, save room for dessert because the Pain perdu is necessary to end the meal with. It's a decadent cross between French toast and creme brûlée with a vanilla bean ice cream on top. The service was welcoming, professional, and checked all my boxes. A truly fabulous dining experience, and I will absolutely be back on my next visit to SF!

Amazing spot for a birthday brunch! Me and my girls arrived around noon on Saturday with a reservation and were seating right away. When we walked in, it felt like we were teleported to France. I loved the interior aesthetics and the vinyl was the cherry on top. We ordered a variety of delicious entrees but the star of the show was the desert. We ordered the popular French toast with vanilla on top. It was delectable!! Such a great spot for celebrating birthdays or anything else!

Props to the BOH... The Parisian bistro fare coming out of Verjus' kitchen is bomb with many remarkable dishes. I get the hype. And, the weather couldn't be more perfect for al fresco dining...warm (for the city's standards) with a gentle breeze. Sadly, poor hospitality marred our experience but more on that later. From the team behind Quince and Cotogna, Verjus has been on my list since the opened in 2019 but fell off my radar when they closed for 4 years during the pandemic. Recently, I saw they started Saturday lunch service so made rezzies (wide open availability). Weekday rezzies are harder to secure and are released 7 days in advance at midnight. Indoor and sidewalk seating available. While Verjus is a wine bar specializing in Euro wines, they have a pretty substantial bistro menu (in French with no ingredients listed) with rotating seasonal dishes and permanent staples like the pâté en croûte, omelette boursin, house-made sausages, and the pain perdu. 6% SF surcharge. F O O D * Thon Mariné: Tuna Crudo ($22): https://tinyurl.com/4j2ux43m Fresh, silky cuts of chutoro over mild zucchini mousse with a hit of bright acid. Solid palate opener. * Mousse de Foie de Volaille: Chicken Liver Mousse ($18): https://tinyurl.com/y2rf6zfr Rich, creamy and savory with a mildly sweet and nutty flavor (not metallic-y). Easily spreadable over the toasted brioche toast. While good, this wasn't a standout dish. * Caquelon d'Escargot: Snails w/ butter, garlic, parsley ($18): https://tinyurl.com/4r728yv8 One of the best renditions I've tried, the escargot was plump and meaty, swimming in a delicious garlic butter, a flavor bomb without being overwhelmingly so. Served with garlic toast that we tore off pieces and dunked them into every dimple of the pan to soak up every bit of that rich, saucy goodness. * Omelette au Boursin: French Omelette w/ Boursin cheese ($18): https://tinyurl.com/4huc8stt Perfectly done, the omelette was soft and delicate with a custardy center. The melty boursin cheese added a subtle tang. UGH, soooo good. * Saucisse Merguez: Lamb Sausage ($29): https://tinyurl.com/yezk6f5z The sausage was juicy with a snap, packed with flavor but not gamey. Earthy fennel seeds added depth, while the chewy sorghum and smoky harissa provided texture and warmth. Hearty and deliciously satisfying. * Confit de Canard: Duck Confit ($29): https://tinyurl.com/25tkw4ry Meltingly tender with a crisp skin, the duck leg was served over sweet corn kernels and blistered padrón peppers. A simple combination, but one that let the quality of the ingredients and careful execution shine. * Pain Perdu: French Toast ($17): https://tinyurl.com/2efafcc9 A much touted dessert, the pain perdu didn't disappoint. The housemade brioche is soaked in custard, then caramelized and served with caramel sauce and vanilla gelato. The contrast in textures is what makes it memorable: crisp edges give way to a creamy, custardy center, while the warm brioche and cold gelato nicely played off each other. IF French toast, bread pudding, and crème brûlée had a ménage à trois. GET IT! S E R V I C E From the jump, our server came across as unwelcoming, disinterested, and passive aggressive. When I brought up that we didn't receive two of the dishes we ordered (seems he forgot to place the order), he brushed it off and said, they were coming. I thought he was just having a bad day but his tone and demeanor toward other tables suggested otherwise. Later, two male staff members repeatedly passed by our table to assist neighboring tables but ignored me despite several attempts at eye contact. By that point, it was hard not to feel that we were being treated differently. Whether it came down to not ordering alkie (we can't drink wine) or something else (we were the only POC table outside), it's not a good feeling. The hostess was friendly throughout, and a kind gentleman (who I later learned was the GM), both stepped in when we needed help; ordering dessert, getting water refills, and paying the bill. The blonde server working inside, who brought us our bill was very sweet and thanked us for our visit. Had she been our server, this would be 5+ star review. A M B I A N C E Lively Parisian cave à mange vibes with an open kitchen. There's two indoor dining areas and five cafe tables in front. P A R K I N G Easy metered parking on Saturday, not on the weekdays tho. Overall, I loved the food at Verjus and thought they're putting out some of the best bisto fare I've had at a wine bar. It's a shame the service largely felt unwelcoming towards us and would keep me from returning. Not that it matters tho because Verjus is always poppin'!

I was able to get a 5pm walk-in and let me tell you, I feel like all my dreams, regardless of whether or not I knew about them, came true. Impeccable wine selection, great mains, even better dessert. I'm in and out of San Francisco and go forward, I will make it a habit to have dinner at Verjus.

Wear your heels and bring minimal belongings, the tables are small and the aura is elegant. Our server was straight up fantastic, giving a thoughtful rundown of the menu, catering to our preferences, and staying perfectly attentive the entire meal. The wine brought over after we described our preferences was one of my favorites that I have ever had, truly. While everything was delicious, the standout dishes were the tomato tart, the French omelette, the pork chop according to my dining party, and the French toast dessert. The tomato tart makes you see tomatoes differently and wonder why yours don't quite taste like that.. fresh and rosy, but savory and sweet at the same time. The French omelette with caramelized onions was simple but wonderful. The blend was creamy and melted on your tongue. I was the type of omelette you eat slowly out of respect for the obvious craft within it. The French toast was something else completely. So drenched in sweetness it was almost caramelized. If you don't like French toast, don't worry this is NOT the French toast that you are thinking of - it's richer, deeper, not fluffy but saturated, and an insanely memorable experience in every bite

The omelette. Must order. Takes you back to Paris.

Date night perfected. Packed house! We arrived right on time for our reservation, & were told that our table would be ready in just a few minutes. Naturally, we moseyed over to the bar to order 2 glasses of wine. It is a wine bar, after all. Despite being standing room only, a pleasant bartender took our order almost immediately. Quelle suprise! And then, our table was ready before we even got the wine. Superb. Superb accurately describes our experience to a T. Based on other reviews, we ordered the greatest hits. Bread & butter Omelette Sausage Duck confit Pain perdu Bread & butter...do it! What's French fare without bread? The omelette was perfect, like close your eyes & you're back in Paris perfect. The sausage was unbelievably good. That cheese in the center...ooh la la! I didn't even know I liked sausage this much, & I really like sausage! Duck confit is always an automatic order for me, & it did not disappoint. But, the standout performances on this stage were definitely the omelette & the sausage. Whatever you do, save room for dessert. We did, completely intentionally. Because...pain perdu. The pain perdu is pretty phenomenal. We knew it was going to be great, & it was even better. French toast meets crème brulee. It's so good it's surreal. Everyone raves about this dish, & now we know why. Our server was great. Actually, all aspects of service (hostess, runners, bussers, server, wait times) were great. Food was exceptional. The lighting, the vibe, the DJ booth...everything was just tres magnifique! I can see ordering 2 omelettes, 2 sausages (at least), & 2 pain perdu...breakfast for dinner! I love breakfast for dinner! Our first visit, but not our last. I just wish we had made our way here sooner. It is poetry for a date night, but would be equally so for a night out with friends, since dishes are on the smaller side & shareable. The more the merrier, try everything! Fabulous restaurant. 5 stars

Dining at Verjus is incredible. The food, the service, everything was spectacular. The space is dimly lit with very intentional and seasonal touches. So even though it's loud it still feels intimate. The staff is very knowledgeable about the dishes and the wine list. We went with recommendations for every course and the pairings were a 10/10. I went for my birthday and everyone was so sweet about making it a very special celebration. I will absolutely be back.

Please try the Pain Perdue, it's such a luxurious bite. The combination of a slightly bitter caramel with the creaminess of the custard is perfect. Top off your bite with some ice cream and you've got a delicious bite. The fondue is definitely a fun dish. You get little forks and the potatoes are crispy perfection. The sauce itself isn't overly rich. We also went with the endive salad which was refreshing and light. For entrees we did the duck and the steak. The duck was tender while the skin was crispy. The staff were informative and helpful. Note that if you're a white wine lover most of the wines they carry are on the drier side. However our server was able to recommend a nice white that wasn't overly sweet or dry!

Hand on heart, Verjus is one of the best gems in the city of SF! I've been here 2 times and both times have been absolutely incredible! The service is great and the menu while limited, is perfectly curated. The ambiance is romantic and vibe, and I love how every table has fleur de sel, black pepper, and good olive oil! The mussels on toast was my favorite bite of 2025! The mussels were succulent and fresh, and beautifully balanced on a crispy piece of bread. I cannot rave enough about this dish! We also tried the lightly tossed salad, which is refreshing and piled high! The manchego sausage is a good meaty bite, the bread is crusty with perfect butter, the beets were well balanced, the fondue is a must, but the pièce de résistance is the pain perdu. The first time I had the pain perdu, I actually think I shed a tear. It is absolutely perfect with no flaws. When I took my dad, he immediately ordered another one before he finished his first. I love Verjus and I send anyone who will listen there!

Minus one star because I have not eaten here! So the rating is based on my experience with the wine bar portion of the restaurant. This place was recommended to me by a friend and it did not disappoint. The wine selection was abundant and the service was good. We did have to wait a little to be seated inside, and the way they do that is by writing your name down on a chalkboard which was interesting but at least you can keep track of who is next. Our first red was ok, But the star of the show was a Riesling that my friend picked that wasn't too sweet and not too dry! Very smooth and the vibes continued from Golden Sardine. We trickled in and still felt like we were having our euro summer in October. I'd love to come back and experience the dining before walking over to the bar for a night cap.

the best vibes, almost like walked into a french bistro in the middle of sf. same team behind quince i think? food-wise i would happily come back for the duck confit, omelette, and/or pain perdu. otherwise nothing too special. portions can be a bit small so the bill can build up fast haha but great spot to grab a few glasses of wine and some small bites

Verjus was absolutely incredible. From the moment you walk in, the ambience hits you -- dim lighting, a lively but comfortable buzz, and a vibe that just feels good. It's always busy, but in the best way. The staff is extremely professional, welcoming, and truly impressive. The service is impeccable. They know the menu inside and out without ever having to glance at it -- every detail, every ingredient, every recommendation delivered with confidence and great energy. Crazy how they can remember it all! I typically don't love French food, but this place is a completely different experience. Nothing is overly saucy; everything has real, layered flavor. The scallops were outstanding, and the mozzarella-stuffed sausage was unforgettable. Honestly, every single dish we tried was delicious. I can't wait to go back. This spot is an instant favorite.

Yes and they take walk ins for the bar

Does the daily menu typically includes at least a few vegetarian items?

Recommend the omelette and sunchokes, and save room for the crullers

When does the evening rush begin? Will it be crazy packed at 5:30 on a Friday?

No reservations. It's not a typical sit down restaurant. You order at the bar and their menu is listed on a big movie theater installation in the larger room.
