I've been fortunate to eat at some incredible restaurants over the years, and I don't say this lightly: Seven Hills served the best meal I've ever had. Had a great diner here with my party of 5, and I would definitely recommend making a reservation since it can get pretty packed. The restaurant may not look very big from the outside, but there are plenty of tables extending toward the back. The dim lighting inside gives the place a cozy and elegant feel. We had the tagliatelle, pappardelle, grilled heritage pork chop, and couple of salads. I may be forgetting a few other dishes because of the wine, haha. They have an extensive wine list, and the staff were very attentive throughtout the night. We sat close to the chef's station and got to watch them make and plate all the beautiful dishes. The staff at Seven Hills were super nice and accommodating! We were unable to get a reservation for 7:30pm on a Friday night, so we decided to walk in. We were offered a table outside right away! It was a windy night, but the outdoor seating area had overhead heat lamps that made us warm and cozy. The area also had sufficient lighting even though it was night time. We ordered the maccheroncelli and pappardelle. Both were good and the restaurant was able to give us some chili flakes and parmesan cheese on the side as well for more taste. Portion sizes are pretty small though, but typical for an Italian restaurant in SF. Our waitress also told us their menu rotates, so I would definitely come back to try other pastas! read more

This restaurant is located in a very charming residential neighborhood. One thing to keep in mind is that parking can be extremely difficult to find. We ended up driving around the area several times looking for a spot and arrived 15 minutes late for our reservation. I highly recommend arriving much earlier than your reservation time if you're driving. The restaurant itself was a little dimly lit, but it had a lovely atmosphere. Every staff member and server we interacted with was incredibly friendly and welcoming. There is also outdoor seating available, which looked very cozy and private, with small curtains and heaters to keep guests warm. Everything we ordered was delicious. The garlic bread was good, but not necessarily a must-order item. The pasta was excellent--perfectly seasoned, neither too salty nor too bland, and the portion size was just right. The American Wagyu carpaccio was absolutely outstanding and easily the highlight of the meal. Highly recommended. Overall, we had a wonderful birthday dinner and really enjoyed our experience. The only small thing I would mention is that it might be nice if the restaurant offered a little something for guests celebrating special occasions like birthdays. We came here with family friends for Monday night dinner and while I had heard good things about Seven Hill, I was blown away by the freshly made pasta. It's really everything I could have wanted. We started off sharing the burrata with grilled peaches and prosciutto di parma salad. A great way to start with some veggies and the peaches were super ripe and sweet! My favorite was the Maccheronchelli which had the perfect texture and held the super flavorful tomato sauce so well! The dish sounds more simple than the pasta options, but this one is a must order if you visit. The pasta + sauce + ricotta makes for an amazing bite with the right amount of chew. We also tried the corn agnolotti, beef casoncelli, and mushroom tagliolini along with the house foccacia and garlic & parm foccacia. The pastas were all delicious and packed with flavor.The foccacias were yummy and more chewy with a whole wheat texture than expected. Seven Hills has been in my bookmarks for ages, so I was super excited when my partner and I were able to snag a day-of reservation for a late night dinner. We ordered a bunch of dishes to share family style: - Fior di Latte Burrata (peach burrata salad): it's stone fruit season so of course we had to order this, and it did not disappoint. The ingredients were so fresh and tasty! - Corn agnolotti: FAVE DISH HANDS DOWN. The corn filling was so sweet and creamy and the pasta was cooked perfectly. I would've licked the plate if I were eating at home lol. - Mushroom tagliolini: the pasta was al dente and the mushrooms were fragrant and buttery. It didn't wow us like the corn but was definitely a solid dish. - Focaccia bread pudding: I'm a sucker for bread pudding and focaccia is one of my favorite breads, so we had to order it. The blueberries were so fresh, the cream wasn't too sweet, and the focaccia base meant the texture wasn't as spongy as your typical bread pudding. - Espresso martini: this was more espresso than sweet, which is just how I like it! - Americano spritz: this was refreshing but was more citrusy than coffee. Our reservation was for the last time slot but we never felt rushed through our meal, even when we were the second to last table remaining at the end of the night, which I really appreciated. My coworker is always raving about seven hills, so I made a reservation there for a late Valentine's Day dinner, and it did not disappoint! I love that they have a rotating menu with special off menu items. We ended up getting the Rockefeller oysters, burrata salad, duck liver pate, shortrib agnolotti, and shredded duck tagliatelle. First off - the Rockefeller oysters. I have come such a long way with oysters. I used to hate oysters, but have recently started enjoying raw ones. This was my first time having baked oysters. Personally, I loved the seasoning on this one - the oysters were topped with I think garlic, breadcrumbs, and a bunch of herbs or other seasonings. I just thought there was too much oyster for me since these were bigger oysters. On the other hand, the bf liked the size of the oysters, but thought there was too much happening with the toppings. Next up - the burrata salad. This was stellar! Soooo good, def my fave dish of the night. The burrata was paired with some mixed greens, citrus, pomegranate pieces, and pistachios. Everything just tasted soooo fresh, and the pistachios added such an unexpected nuttiness that balanced perfectly with the burrata. 10/10! Then - the duck liver pate. I grew up on viet sandwiches, so I love pate. I haven't had as much duck liver pate, but this was pretty good, especially with the fruit marmalade on top. This was actually one of my most anticipated dishes here. My only gripe was that the bread was a bit hard and it felt like a bit too much pate and bread for an appetizer. I think I would have preferred just two pieces instead of four, and with each piece cut in half so that they're bite size pieces. Next - the two pasta dishes. Both were good! I had hoped they would have a squid ink pasta on the menu, but not that day, maybe next time! This was my first time having angolotti - it was like a cross between a tortellini and a ravioli. The shortrib inside was nice and tender, and I liked the tiny potato pieces that came with the sauce which was light and almost brothy. The tagliatelle was also pretty good. I'm just more of a pappardelle gal, so I would have liked a thicker noodle. The duck was interesting! If I hadn't known it came with duck, I would have thought it was shredded beef. Finally - tiramisu! I can never say no when tiramisu is offered as a dessert. This was good, no notes. Overall, I enjoyed our meal and would go back just for the burrata and to try other seasonal dishes. My partner and I came to Seven Hills for the first time for their Valentine's dinner prefix menu. I haven't had too many prefix dinners (vegetarian, my options are usually limited) so my expectations were muted, but as soon as we walked in we were greeted warmly and seated early in a comfortable, dimly lit romantic setting. Our server was very chatty and friendly and explained menu items to us and suggested wine pairings + offered us generous pours before we made our drink decisions. My partner initially ordered an old fashioned, which didn't blow his mind, so we stuck to wine after that. My review is for the vegetarian menu - my boyfriend ordered the oysters, wagyu carpaccacio, rotolo al forno, braised short rib (his highlight of the menu) and and fully enjoyed his meal. First course - Citrus salad I wasn't a huge fan of this. It was refreshing and flavorful but I would have preferred something a little more substantial to start my meal. At a certain point I felt like a was just eating sliced oranges. Second course - Beetroot spaghettini This was the highlight for me! The portion was generous and it was absolutely delicious - super creamy and satisfying. We could have ended the meal here and I would have been content. Third course - Acquerello risotto This dish was delicious on its own, but combined with the spaghettini it felt unbalanced. I was hoping it would be heavier on the mushrooms than risotto - but it was very salty and rich and I think it could've been replaced with a more vegetable forward dish. Finally for dessert we ordered the tiramisu and panna cota. I could pass on the panna cota but the tiramisu was one of the best I've had. So light and flavorful. After our huge dinner it was the perfect amount of delicate sweetness to finish things off. Parking is extremely difficult around the area! Recommend looking on Polk for parking. Atmosphere is loud on the inside as tables are close together. Pasta is delicious but on the saltier side. Expect to spend 40+ per person if you order appetizers. Service is quick. The Duck Liver Pate appetizer is on the sweeter side and reminds me a bit of strawberry jam. Doesnt have a distinct Pate taste if thats what you're expecting. Burrata was on the harder side, tasted more like mozzarella. I did enjoy the fruits in the burrata. Our main courses were an assortment of their housemaid pastas...one pappardelle, one tagliatelle, one maccheroncelli and The squid ink pasta with lobster special. These were prepared and presented with perfection. Dereck did a wonderful job in guiding us through our dining experience. Super garlicky, basically like very cheesy garlic bread on thinner toasted focaccia. The focaccia itself was really good so I want to try it plain next time. Highly recommend as an appetizer. The duck liver pate had an apple butter that made it unexpectedly sweet, way too much for me. Wouldn't get it again but not marking down the restaurant for one dish that just wasn't my taste. The ambiance was fairly nice, a little dim which I liked for a more intimate dining experience. It got quite loud in the front section where we sat but it was bearable. Service was excellent with our main waiter being super helpful and attentive. Food came out with really nice timing. WOW. This is hands down some of the best pasta I've had in SF -- not to mention the service is incredible and the ambiance is so charming. I found this out by calling the restaurant. The owner, Alexis, actually called me back very quickly, was extremely kind, and even offered to take my name down without requiring a card since it was our first time. He only asked that we call a couple of hours prior if we needed to cancel. I thought that was excellent customer service. At the time of arrival, the staff was VERY attentive and friendly. We had 5:15 pm dinner reservations, and the place filled up quickly around 6 pm. The food was very flavorful. I do wish the serving sizes were slightly bigger, to be honest. It definitely had the "ambiance" vibe--great flavors, decent prices--but after our appetizers, bread order, and small portions of handmade pasta, we were still a little hungry. To be fair, it was probably a normal-sized serving for one person each, but no leftovers. So if you arrive very hungry, you may end up ordering a couple of extra dishes, which is something to keep in mind with the pricing. They also don't serve soda, which I'm guessing is part of the trade-off for the "mood setting" the restaurant is going for. Slowly trying new restaurants in SF that I'm hoping will be on par with NYC. Happy to say that Seven Hills will be on our rotation of restaurants to visit. Booked an early reservation but walked in much earlier at 5pm on a weeknight. The place was fairly empty but started getting busier around 530-6pm. We ordered the Beef Tartare and Hawaiian Kanpachi off of the specials, and the Pappardelle and Campanelle Verde off of the regular pasta menu. The Beef Tartare was pretty simple (not much going on here but good beef quality) but the star of this dish was the garlic bread. Holy moly is this garlic bread amazing. They said they sell this bread on the regular menu, so when we come back we plan on just ordering the garlic bread. The Kanpachi was good but not amazing. Wasn't as citrus forward (which I prefer) but the strawberry component was interesting. Onto the pastas, aka why we came here. The Pappardelle was amazing. Sooooo delicious, perfectly al dente and I also LOVE mushrooms so it was perfect flavor wise. However, they grate the parm that goes on top of the pasta in the kitchen, and after a couple of bites the dish became way too heavy. I wish they did the cheese grating tableside so I could've controlled how much cheese was on this already heavy dish, but at least I know for next time to say no cheese or on the side. The Mozzarella Di Bufala was a refreshing start - creamy, sweet, and perfectly balanced. The carpaccio was fresh and flavorful, and I especially loved the tomatoes that came with it. The focaccia was warm, soft, and packed with garlicky, cheesy goodness. For our mains, we shared the pappardelle and the New York steak. The pappardelle sauce was fantastic, rich and well balanced, and the pasta was cooked perfectly. The steak was also excellent, cooked just the way we asked, and came with a creamy risotto that we both really enjoyed. Service was decent and the vibes inside were nice and cozy. Two different friends suggested I come here when in SF on travel. They were not wrong. I came in alone around 5 pm. Sat at the bar. Had a delightful glass of wine. I had market fish, pan fried and served with market greens. I also had the burrata with watermelon radish and greens. SO GOOD! Service was great. I had a variety of people behind the bar helping me out. It's dimly lit, nice lighting, perfect for a date or just a nice dinner. 10/10 wouldn't change a thing. read more

We had dinner there last night. Restaurant week, but to get the special menu (because there was one share dish) we both needed to order it. My wife didn't want quite that much food. Usually I rate Seven Hills as a 5 star place, we have had many great experiences there. But last night both glasses of wine were disappointing (and they have a great wine list) and I felt the service was not quite we expected. It wasn't bad, but in the past our server always made us feel special. Last night it was just "Oh well, another night out." The food was still very good. read more

The food and service was very fancy. We loved the garlic focaccia bread (ask for the olive oil in the back). We also ordered the tuna crudo, beet salad, tagliatelle, and pappardelle. They also have a grand Italian wine list. I would recommend! read more

I had high hopes for this place but left disappointed. Dined on a Sunday and our waiter was covering at least 6 tables alone (two of them were parties of at least 6 people), seemed like they were short staffed. Food -Garlic & Parmesan focaccia 4/5 -Burrata 3.5/5 (fruit was very tart and the stems weren't removed from the figs) -Pappardelle 3/5 (bland) -Casoncelli 4/5 (lukewarm but good flavor) -Panna cotta 2/5 (had an odd aftertaste, like it was slightly rancid) Drinks -Espresso martini 5/5 -Bourgogne Blanc, Saint-Veran, Les Pierres Grises (France) 2023 5/5 The food was just okay, nothing to write home about.
