The customer service at this place is a joke. Tonight was the second time that we have called to order a pizza for pickup and have been told that they are too busy to take anymore orders and to call back in 30 minutes????? What???? In my 50 years on this earth, this is the only place I've ever been refused to place an order due to them being too busy. My wife and I have probably ordered over 50 pizzas from them since they opened, but never again. You're too busy for my order at 6pm on a Friday? Maybe you should have someone answering the phone who actually understands what customer service is. You've lost our business. Spinatos's is better pizza anyways. read more

So...I'm going to write this without being overly off-putting. Food is tasty, and service is always good. We enjoy the thin crust pizza and the "no mess" wings. Yummy going down. Here's the problem...we've tried several times and each time we have belly regret a few hours later. Not just me, but my wife as well. The place is super clean, so I'm not saying it's due to cleanliness. You won't find a better deep dish pizza.. expect to wait 40 minutes for this pizza to be ready. Great place to have a few beers and conversation before the pizza arrives. My wife and I gave Buddyz a try and I thought it was fair at best. Service was good and the place had a very clean appearance so it was a good start. We ordered fried mozzarella as an appetizer and they were a bit oily. We ordered a thin crust pizza that was half pepperoni and sausage and half vegetarian. The toppings were generous and tasted pretty good but the crust was neither thin nor tasty. The crust tasted like an unsalted cracker that disintegrated every time you took a bite. I judge a pizza by the taste and quality of its crust and theirs just didn't have a passing grade. On a side note the restuarant has a western exposure and the sun was brutal hot coming through the windows They do have shades but they're not dark enough. It's only going to get hotter as the summer approaches so they need to fix this problem now. read more

Well, my loyal followers, all six of you, This will be my last review of Buddyz, Vero pizza in Ahwatukee. Tonight, tried to order a pizza for delivery and they are not taking any. Not the usual 90 min wait, just sorry try back in an hour. So being in the business it leads me to believe that they do one of two things or maybe both. They either don't pay their employees enough to retain them or they don't treat them well enough to keep them. Either or both are not good. So I'm officially deleting their number from my contact list and will give my business to Rosatis. My advice to them, if they actually read these, hire employees at a higher rate, treat them with respect and work with their availability. Then you won't have to essentially pause your business on a Thursday evening. Btw, they open at 4:00 it's not a large place and they don't deliver. Take a business management class, there's valuable information on this thing that's pretty popular right now, the World Wide Web. It's pretty cool. read more

Great pizza, try the calzone!! Amazing. They lack a little in the overall running of a restaurant but it ain't easy and seems to be especially hard in Ahwatukee for some reason. Closes early so no bar scene. Their chopped salad is the best too. Give it a shot in case you are looking for a really good pizza! Let's start out with the positive and I will definitely end on the positive. First, the service was good. The person taking my order listened well and set proper expectations in terms of delivery time. Second, the overall texture of the pizza was really good regarding both crust and cheese. The meatball and sausage was chicago like. But that is where it stops. Claiming this place to be a Chicago style pizza joint is a farce. The buttery crust was no different than pizza huts pan pizza. Moreover the pizza was incredibly sweet. The the topping outside of the meatball and sausage was burnt and salty. Additionally, what makes pizza is the sauce. There was no sauce on both pan and super thin pizza. The thin crust was terribly thin with no substance (no sauce). From a business perspective the price for the 3 pies were over 80 bucks including tip. Unreal. The pizza had no sauce, too salty, and too sweet, which is not a good representation of a Chicago pie. For the price, i wonder why pizza owners fail time after time to put the appropriate amount of sauce on a pie. I guess when demand is high during these strange times you can price however you want especially when there is no competition or a community who does not know what a quality pie is. In the end, I respect the business for serving the community and I do appreciate their efforts. It was nice to put my dollar in their business at this time. By the way I am a native Chicagoan and like to think I have a mature enough palate to know quality pies. Best of luck to them. read more

So happy to have found a quality deep dish pizza place in the Valley! My pizza-living kid has never had deep dish prior and loved it! We also had wings and calamari and enjoyed both. The wait staff--oh my goodness--from the hostess to our waitress and everyone in between we could not have been treated better. They allowed us to bring in a cake for my son's birthday, they kept it refrigerated until we were ready for it, they put in the candles and lit them for us! And even though we were there past closing they didn't rush us out. This level of customer service is harder and harder to find and our family appreciated it so much! Highlights: Good pizza Food was al hot and fresh Menu Managed expectations on 35 min for deep dish or butter crust pizza $3 PBR If you have lots of time to drink $3 PBR, it's a great place. Just order an Uber because you will have a lot of PBR waiting for food.... Don't come with young kids or if you're hangry... Don't let the 35 min minimum wait time for deep crust fool you. Everything takes 45 min! Don't expect a lot of table clearing ... Don't expect to see a manager stop by to ask "how are things"... because they probably don't want to know Do expect to wait. A. Long. Time. And do expect to have the waitress apologize to you and everyone else on "we're really busy, sorry it's slow". Can someone provide the number to Chef Ramsey? Live in Ahwatukee and been waiting before going into Buddyz so they could get the kinks out. 6:30pm on a Thursday night stopped in for dinner and sat at the bar. The bartender/server promptly came by to tell us they were out of toasted ravioli, fried mozzarella and their 10in deep dish pizza. OK then. Bar is sparse and they told us they have opted to only do wine and beer because they do not want a bar crowd- they want the family business. That's fine. Asked for a wine list and was told only one exists so it would be hard to find. He named off a few wines so I ordered and unknown sauv blanc and my friend a Stella. We decided to get a medium thin crust with onions, mushrooms and green peppers. The place was not packed but the pizza still took over an hour to get. When it came the green pepper was haphazardly thrown on the pizza... some pieces had it others had none. The pizza itself was fine and even rather bland. Nothing special to keep you coming back for it. Sadly the service was slow. I would give it a try for yourself. But Ahwatukee has a number of good pizza places (Spinato's and Florencia to name a few) that you could skip the trip into the foothills and still enjoy good pizza elsewhere. read more

Now that Buddyz has calmed down since firy opening we don't have as much if a wait. Just order takeout early or get there a but before the crowd and it's no problem. We love the Rush Street thin-crust. It's Italian sausage, mushrooms, onions, green peppers and ricotta. Ask for pomodoro tomatoes on top. Delicious!! There aren't too many food options in the Ahwatukee Foothills, so I'm stoked this place came to my hood. Sweet Nectar of the Gods! The butter crust pizza is delicious!!! It is exactly as advertised: buttery, salty, delicious crust that's crispy around all the edges where the dough came into contact with the pan. It's sort of like what Pizza Hut pan pizza would be if Pizza Hut was any good. The thin crust and deep dish are awesomesauce, too. We've ordered takeout from Buddyz 3 times now, and it's our new go-to pizza place. The only thing that could make it better is if they delivered. read more

We thought we would try this new place out because we live very close and I love pizza. We arrived around 5:20p not too busy, lots of kids. After a few minutes we got our drinks and order an app. The app came out very fast (Deep Fried raviolis), these were very good. Hot (as expected) and the marinara sauce was tasty. Before the app came out we placed our dinner order. Small thin crust pizza (2 toppings) and a Italian sandwich. It took over 30 mins for our dinner to arrive. The pizza looked good, but unfortunatly that is all it had going for it. 1. The crust tasted like cardboard, not very flavorful at all and parts tasted almost doughy 2. The BBQ sauce (I had one of their "specialty pizzas") was only burnt around the crust, didn't seem to have any under the topping. 3. To much chicken for the size of pizza. The chicken also tasted like it came from Costco's rotisserie selection. 4. There only seemed to be a few slices of onion Overall I would suggest you go do Little Caesars or Domino's across the street. You will have a better and cheaper pizza. Also the service was terrible. very slow for not being to crowded. And they didn't even ask why I didn't eat or want a box for 3/4 of the pizza that was left behind. We wont be back to this place.
