Skip all the "popular tourist spots" and walk about 3 blocks out of the Quarters and come to Verti Marte for the best Poboy in the city. You walk in, it's tight, close shelves full of snacks. Repeated by desire for a yearly "all that jazz" sandwich. I havent been to Nola for 12 months, and this Verti Marte was one of my spots I knew I needed to stop at. The volume of the food inside the sandwich has probably dropped by at least half, since last year. To be fair, I didnt feel sick after eating the whole thing, (unlike last year), so maybe this is an improvement. The inside remains too crowded, narrow aisles and tight spaces. It is not the kind of store you'd want to loiter in. Food blogs remain pretty high on this place being the best poboy spot in the FQ area, and perhaps it is? My only complaint is the place was much busier than I experienced previously, and like the rest of the world, they've implemented deflation of volume with the same high price. Would I return? This little grocery store and deli is open 24/7 and is conveniently located in the French Quarter. To order, go to the back of the store to see the options on the board on the wall. Then go to the cashier and order your food and wait for your number to be called. We ordered the all that jazz ($19) which had big pieces of shrimp, a lot of meat, and was very cheesy. Some of their food is pre-made like their spaghetti and red beans and rice and reheated in the microwave. Their other food is made in the back and brought out. Interestingly, when we asked the cashier for a menu with updated prices, he said there was none. There was a menu in the front of the store but the prices were not updated. It all felt a little shady since he just gave the price of the sandwich we asked about and we didn't know the prices of the other sandwiches. I don't think it would take much effort to put out an updated menu but that's just my opinion. Also, they prefer cash and there is a 4% convenience fee when using cards. read more

Specifically the deli in the back serves some of the best Po boys in the area. We were super disappointed to find out that when we arrived, just after 11:30 pm, that the deli had just shut down for the next hour to do a shift change.
