Second time visiting, didn't care for the food the first time around. I had the gumbo, and while the flavor was delicious, it was skimpy with the portions, I had two small pieces of sausage. Second time around did not disappoint, I chowed down on the Jambalaya. While the portion and taste were great, it was far from the best Jambalaya in New Orleans. Every time I come to NOLA I pass by this place and the music is always what peaks my interest. Decided to try the food today, and I'm glad I did. To begin, everyone I met was so kind and welcoming, which is a huge green flag for me. I ordered the shrimp and grits (duh) and no lie, these were some of the best I've had here in NOLA, mainly because sure the grits were so SMOOOTH! The sauce I believe was jambalaya sauce, and though jamabalaya is not my fave, over grits and shrimp, it was perfect. The portion was huge, so I couldn't finish all the grits, but I made those delicious well seasoned shrimp disappear into my face. And the band kicked on around 10:30am as promised. Its a great place to take a break and have a cold beverage on a hot day. Lots of people here on this day but most of us were just resting and drinking. Just flavorless. I've tried many restaurants in New Orleans and wow this by far was one of the worse places I've been. Nice views of the city but it ends there. The drinks were ok. The food was just not good. The food comes out quick but they might want to take their time and actually put some seasoning on the food. Would not recommend this place & we tried a few things (boudin, alligator bites, shrimp po boy & a Cajun pasta) & the only tasty thing were the alligator bites. Susan has the patience of a saint especially as my husband kept changing his dang order to suit his sensitive stomach. After finally setting on root beer, I ordered the Bavarian mocha, and we shared a 1/2 muffuletta sandwich rightfully so cuz this was super huge and even then I couldn't finish the half of a half. This was on my wish list for quite a while, having a real muffaletta. So, when in New Orleans....... It is a specialty in NOLA with an Italian bun layered with sliced ham, salami, mortadella, provolone and swiss cheese, topped with olive salad. It comes with a small container of an olive oil and vinegar mix. Nice to sprinkle on. The bread was a bit dry, but that oil mix improved it. I had a half, more than enough. Stopped into this establishment after walking for almost miles through the French Quarter with my colleagues to find something to eat :). We walked in and were seated promptly. Woohoo! I like the muffaletta and the alligator but everything's pretty reasonable. I was there this evening A server was subjected to degrading comments from a customer and actions and shocking behavior. The guest should have been asked to leave ...(most places would have )...Then I discovered the customer wasn't sanctioned the server was sent home loosing money for whole shift ..
