However, it is totally worth it to have the honor of sampling their incredible All that Jazz. This mighty po' boy starts with traditional French bread that could be described as airy but somehow is also sturdy enough for the massive amount of components it is home to, once this masterpiece of a sandwich is assembled. Filling includes turkey, ham, sautéed shrimp, mushrooms, Swiss & American cheese, and sliced tomato. If that sounds like a lot, it is! But that is why it is best shared, as my husband and I did. You want something Po boy style, you got it. Muffaletta, yep. Finally hubby and I settled on their number one sandwich: All that Jazz. All you need to know is you want to split this bad boy with someone or you'll probably have leftovers. All that jazz will set you back $20 but it's $20 well spent. Plus everything is expensive in the French Quarter. So what's on an All that Jazz sandwich you may be asking? Grilled ham, turkey, and shrimp with Swiss and American cheese along with grilled mushrooms and tomatoes and topped with "wow" sauce. It's messy and delicious! We also tried the mac n cheese. A very very very 2am late night spot grocery/deli that everyone seems to find their way to. Off the beaten path, conservatively priced, non-judgmental, good tasting food can be had in the wee hours of the morning. Encountered a bridal shower party, a few local taxi drivers, and others like us who were out and about and just hungry. All of the po' boys are made to order, and most of the other menu items as well. So when told we had to wait 20 minutes we did not blink an eye. As long as the line was in front of us, we did not mind at all. Verti Marte is known for their hot version of the famous Muffuletta. Once we got our sandwiches, we walked back to the French Market, which is only a 5-minute walk, and sat to eat. These sandwiches are huge and one order is technically half a sandwich. We planned on splitting them so we could each get a taste for what they are like. We love Italian sandwiches. This one was thick and packed with the traditional ham, salami, mortadella, swiss, provolone and the signature marinated olive salad. Starting with the cold one, it was pretty good. As you can imagine, an Italian style sandwich, covered in olives is gonna be salty and greasy and it was. I finished my half and dug in to the hot one. This was definitely different. The hot one does have more flavor but it's a salty, briny flavor. The olive salad, meat and cheese, soaked the bread in oil and grease. It was a lot and left you feeling oily and sluggish. We are glad we got to try this sandwich and Verti Marte makes a good one. We would suggest it cold but Verti Marte would suggest it hot. That's up to you!
