Today, on our #UTcurbsidediningadventures , we tried Vessel Kitchen ( @vesselkitchen ), in Sandy, UT! This was our 1st time there. They have a pretty wide variety of options, both hearty and healthy! We decided to try 2 of their "Winter Market Plates," which include one protein and 2 sides (either hot, like mac n' cheese or cold, like a caprese salad). We got braised beef and 2 helpings of mac, in one, and shredded chicken/mashed potatoes/caprese salad, in the other. I'm a sucker for #pastas and #potatoes ! Gimme all the starches! Lol They also have flatbread tacos, soups and other salads! Their plates and helpings are huge!!! These two plates alone, fed 4 people! It almost felt like Thanksgiving! So great! Keep supporting your local restaurants, they're worth it!!! read more

Vessels Kitchen's is a healthy choice. Just be aware the trout is a little more than you might expect. Although the trout is really tasty it's going to cost you $9.00. It's cooked just right and is a delicious addition to your salad. But if you add a local kombucha at five dollars You will be paying over $28 with tax and tip. If you want to keep your expenses down , then I suggest you just get the trout and the salad it's really good. read more

The eatery is new and hip-and serves a seasonal, locally sourced menu of delicious ingredients that will do your body good. You won't find anything boring here-it all looks like it could be in a food magazine. The staff is friendly and eager to serve. The atmosphere is clean, fresh and vibrant. The dining area is open and drinks, utensils and condiments are self-serve. You also bus your table after you eat-but don't throw away the dishes. There's a space to clear them off and return them (yay for not using disposable dishes.) There is a large parking lot, but on a busy day it fills up since there are a few restaurants that share the lot. That's a good thing! We love to see people out enjoying themselves. Trendy new restaurant! Everything is fresh and made that day. Our favorites were the beef and chicken. Their sides were good; I had never had Hash before and their sweet potato hash was tasty. Their chicken beet salad was good too; I'm not a big beet fan, but I ate a lot of beats in that salad and I'm not complaining so I'd say that's a win! My hubby thought the Mac n Cheese was a little dry, but I liked it. Their mashed potatoes were better than other restaurants I've gone to. Their soda fountain is the trendy foamy sodas like black cherry and unique other ones. Pretty good. read more

For the price of the food ($12-20 a meal) you have to be expecting quite a lot more. The flavors are all pretty bland to be honest, and I found myself using more salt/pepper to try to get a nice flavor than I normally would. the fact that the portions are pretty BIG is what get's them to a 3-Star versus the 2 I would have left. I also feel that a place like this is more about the experience and the service, which was REALLY BAD. The staff seemed super annoyed that my daughters were asking about some of the ingedients and preparation in the vegan menu, which is always sad to see happen. We quickly realized that maybe things were a bit off, so we made our order and ate at home; the space was not that inviting to us anymore. I kinow others like it, but we will unfortunatley not. Don't let the empty parking lot fool you. Don't judge the food by its interior. I have to say, perhaps the best salad I had in a long time. LOCATION I can't recall if it was able to spot from the main road, but I do remember driving up the drive way and turned to confirm it was the spot. PARKING Plenty of parking on a weekday afternoon (Which, by the way, shouldn't the staff be in school right now?) EXTERIOR I thought it was a 700sqft dining space inside from the outside. Once you enter the double doors you will find it stretch to the left into a much appropriate size. There seems to be a tables and seats on the right (of me) where you can dine outside. INTERIOR Dirty chairs, some tables are wiped down, some aren't, scrapes and scuffs on the dividers are visible at a distance. Needless say, it's needs a little attention. FOOD As I have mention in my epic intro, best salad I had tasted in a long time. You have the option to custom plate and salad. I chose the salad option: Chicken Breast (super tender, flavored) Arugula Couscous Corn Esquites Rice + Quinoa Fresno Aioli dressing (the deal breaker) Absolute delicious, consistent and perfect. SERVICE I was greeted with a smile (which is always a bonus for me in my book) by everyone. Including by one of the staff who was grabbing food for lunch. VERDICT (1) Can we have this in Redwood City CA? We came here yesterday for our first, and today for our second time. We live twenty minutes away and just had to come back today. This heat Ely might be my new favorite restaurant in Salt Lake. The service could be terrible and the food would definitely still make this place worth a visit. We ordered the Med 5.0, the Good and Plenty, a falafel naan taco, and both a custom plate and a custom salad with the Lemon Dijon Roasted Chicken. All 10/10. read more

The food here is fresh and quite tasty. It's not a full service restaurant and doesn't try to be; perhaps that's how they keep the prices somewhat reasonable. Quality of food is high. A nice business lunch spot if fancy isn't what you need. read more

Just moved here from California and was bummed to find out Utah doesn't have any Mendocino Farms. I made it a mission to find a good salad place in the area. I tried the Jean Salad and it was pleasantly flavorful! All the ingredients were fresh and complimented each other well. The portions were pretty generous. My boyfriend made his own bowl which was delicious too. There's plenty of toppings, proteins, and sauces to choose from the menu. This is one of my favourite places to eat in Utah!! If you're into meats and good quality salads or related vegetables, this is the place to go!! I love their customized plates, you pick a meat and 2 cold or hot salads. I literally enjoyed every meat, the falafel is a great vegetarian option too! I've been to Vessel Kitchen enough times now to know that the food is consistently delicious and the portions consistently generous. My go-to is the Med 5.0 but I've also gotten the Good 'N Plenty and loved it too. I'll get the Med 5.0 if I don't care if my food is hot (the broccoli salad, hummus, and cous cous are all cold or room temperature) and the Good 'N Plenty if I need a heavier, warmer meal. The dining area is typically bustling for lunch or dinner and seems to be a great spot to meet friends, family, or business associates for a bite. I love Vessel mainly because they offer menu items that are fairly unique and the food is well-seasoned. To sum: Check out Vessel if you haven't already. Try the Med 5.0's falafel or the Good 'N Plenty's oven-roasted brussels sprouts. I was pleasantly surprised with the location and the aesthetic of the building very clean and trendy! My cousins and I came here for dinner and we all got the chicken breast with different sides (I got the Mac and cheese with the mashed potatoes). The food was delicious and it tasted pretty healthy! I also liked that the water cups were reusable- way to go for sustainability! They were pretty quick to bring us our food and it looks like it's a very popular spot because by the time we left the place was packed! I will definitely be coming back here. The only thing I would say is that the prices are a bit high for the food portions. However, I can understand why - it's located in SLC, the food is high quality, and healthy. This spot was just okay for me. They have a good range of different healthy items for lunch and dinner, which is fantastic! I also liked that the food tasted fresh and had good flavors, I think for me I just got a odd combination of foods in my bowl, and they didn't blend well. I ordered the Chicken +Grains bowl and it was good but again the flavors just did not blend well. I think it may have been the peppers that just seemed to throw the off the bowl a little, but it was fresh and the rest of the items in the bowl had great flavor. Will most likely visit again to try out some other items on their menu and hopefully I find one I like. Was very underwhelmed by thios place. Heard a lot of hype and was very excted to try but the flavors did not mesh well together. I ordered the Chicken + Grains menu and it just had too many strong flavors togther in one bowl. Cilantro, fire roasted peppers, and coconut seems like it may be a good mixture of falvor but unfortunately ti was not. However, the chicken in the meal was lean and cooked really well. Would possibly consider going back int he future depending on what is on their menu! I love this place! I cannot wait to continue to see their expansion as a brand because they truly have some of the best food! Hummus that is out of this world, amazing pita chips, I ALWAYS recommend the trout. Any of their market plates that are their chef creations are truly satisfying. I really appreciate how conscientious they are and labeling all their meals indicating what has gluten, dairy, vegan, etc. The food is good, but not excellent in my opinion. I had Braised Beef with mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese. Although the Mac and cheese could have hade a deeper/richer flavor it was serviceable. The braised beef and mashed potatoes lived up to expectations. Admittedly, this is not my typical fair, but they served plenty of good homemade food. This wouldn't be my first choice to eat, but I wouldn't but I would go if someone else wanted to go. My wife, on the other hand, loved it and would give them 5 stars. Vessel Kitchen is an inspired concept phenomenally executed. There are not enough possible stars to give. We found Vessel via an internet search of vegetarian options close to the spot we were refueling our transport, which was already a point in their favor, because we knew there would be vegetable options. We attempted to order ahead online first, but there were just too many good choices that we decided to head in and order in-person by sight and smell. This is nothing against the online ordering platform which was clean, functional, and intuitive despite the complexity of the customizable menu. When we arrived, we were impressed by the bright, clean look of the place that managed to feel cheerful and welcoming rather than industrial even with heavy use of white and chrome in the kitchen and house. The young staff that helped us continued that welcoming and cheerful vibe, so that we developed a pretty high expectation of the food before it touched our lips, which, I might mention, took all of 7 minutes from order to table despite my adding an extra plate halfway through. Our elevated expectations were blown right out of the water when we tucked in. I could write a whole novel extolling the virtues of veggie dishes and proteins alike, but I'll sum it up with the simple fact that we tried about a third of the menu and there wasn't a bad or even mediocre dish in the lot. In fact the only way our experience could possibly be better would be to relocate the business about 500 miles southeast so we could drop in more often. read more

The opening of the Sandy location and their family feast meals have been quite the life saver during Covid times. The food is nutritious and they have quite the variety of sides that you can mix and match it's easy to keep coming back or contactless delivery from door dash if you're like me. My favorite go to is their braised beef, Thai salad, sugar snap and mint salad and it's a toss up between the couscous, broccoli and beets, they're all so good!! Love the concept and was really excited for a healthier option to cut through amongst the other chains. If you're from Utah this place could be a 4 but it's only a 3 if you are from anywhere else Great variety of choices, menu notations for dietary restrictions and fair portion sizes but honestly the flavor and freshness were lackluster across all our choices. Would I give it another try and maybe go for a salad or something totally different? Sure. But also I think I'd be just as happy at Chipotle.
