I wish I could give zero stars. Meatball sliders were the best part of the meal. But $4 a pop is a little pricey. It was a single meatball on the slider. Only server but "bus girls?" who just looked and didn't help. So the overall service was slow. Beers were over priced vs the menu by $2.50 each. Pizza was greasy. Got there early for a reservation and we had to wait while our future table sat empty. Once we sat it was almost 10 min before we had a drink order taken. read more

Coming from nyc this is the closest to my pizza I have gotten!! The margarita is so yummy. The crust is very thin, then thicker and well done as you finish the slice which is my favorite part. This is the best pizza in the area and surrounding. Plus a large pie (I got half buff chicken and half marg) was 21$!!! My bf and I couldn't even finish the pie- best bang for your buck if you're sharing with even 3 people. We demolished this in the car, in the parking lot, in legit 15 mins one more thing, they didn't include napkins or forks however annoying is great for the earth so thank you for not providing plastic products unless people ask! Ventured out of Mystic to Westerly for dinner tonight with friends. Vetrano's was suggested by our dining companions. It was my first visit and one of their favorites for Italian food. There was a 40 minute wait to be seated so we waited it out at the bar and had a few beverages. They were short staffed and all the employees were working overtime to make sure everyone was taken care of. Rayna ended up being our server and she was great. She was accommodating when we asked for additional bread and oils as well as napkins, water etc. We all ordered different meals starting with the most delicious and huge plate of fried calamari I've ever had. It was tender and insanely tasty. Then came the meals. I had the Rivera Shrimp which is served with a delicious buttery lemon sauce atop spinach and pasta of choice. I couldn't get over the flavor of the spinach and shrimp. It was just incredible. Not to mention piping hot. What a fabulous meal and Rayna couldn't have been nicer. It definitely made the wait worth while and I will be back again with friends and family! Keep up the great work Vetranos staff!!! Despite being short staffed you were wonderful tonight! First time going here. Haven't been doing too much take out due to covid. Up here with a friend who has a beach house. Called and they said "can you please hold," sure. Comes back a few minutes later. Ordered a salad, was curious to know what came on it "the grilled chicken and a bunch of vegetables." Asked if mushrooms and the man said "no." Go to pick it up. I walk in before a man and the guy behind the counter addressed the larger gentleman who walked in BEHIND me. I guess I am invisible, cool. I used to love Vetranos but the service is not very good. Called up to order our usual medium cheese with ricotta on top. Person that answered the phone said the ricotta is what they always put on top. Which was of course not the case once I picked up the pizza. Normally it's baked with the ricotta on top which their solution was to just put a few dallops on top and send me on my way. Kinda gross and disappointed read more

I try not to be biased on my home town eateries...but this place is the bomb! The food is as Italian as Italian can get! The portions are huge and the prices, although some say are high, they are no higher than any other nice restaurant in the area. I've had just about everything on the menu (I go whenever I go home), but my favorites are the Eggplant Parm grinder (for y'all non locals that's a sub), the Carbonara, the antipasto salad is to DIE for (artichokes, olives, cheeses and super fresh Genoa and other Italian meats) and my all time favorite the pasta e fragile (please forgive my Italian spelling) soup! The soup is super rich, you may not even need to get a full plate of food if you order it. Its very smooth and filling. But at the same time it doesn't feel unhealthy...its hearty. This is seriously my new favorite soup! I contemplated asking for the recipe, but then realized "um hello" they aren't going to give it to me....so I guess Ill just have to keep coming back! Unlike many Italian eateries, this place actually orders most of there ingredients from Italy. I know because Ive asked and was floored to find this out. Its obvious the people who run this place truly enjoy what they do and they take great pride in what they do. The only thing about this place I was not as impressed with were the servers. They were a tad slow, and didn't appear to be very happy. The servers didn't match the attitude of this restaurant. It took 15 minutes to get menus ...oredered drinks and got them immediately. Then another 15 minutes to see the waitress again...ahhh here she is ... she's taking our order.. We recieved our apps the calamari.it took about 25 minutes to get....then another 40 minutes for our salads..after we finished our salads it was.followed with another 30minutes to get our meal after finishing our salads... I noticed 2 tables had arrived ate and had left in the time between we had received our apps and our dinner finally. I ordered alla aribiata andb it was pure SALT. Now i know italian food and I know it isn't the healthiest cuisine on the planet but it's very simple to make and it was obscenely salty. I usually come to this place when I'm in a pinch or looking for something a little more upscale obviously the past two times I've come here will be the last time I'm going to tell everyone I know never to go back. I heard that they have new management or something I'm never going to spend another penny in their place horrible horrible between the customer service and the level of cuisine in there. This restaurant was recommended to us by the local staff at The Cooked Goose since they don't do dinner. This place was packed at dinner time, which I was hoping was a indication of a good place. There seemed to be plenty of wait-staff, and bussers, but our service was kinda of slow. We had two rounds of their homemade bread-puffs ( see pictures ) before we got our water and drinks. We ordered Veal Parmigana, Philly Cheese Steak, Kids Pasta and Meatballs and Italian Festival: Manicotti & Stuffed shells. They charge you $2 per 'jumbo shrimp' if you add it to your pasta dish. I only choose to add one shrimp and I was surprised to find the shrimp was a normal sized shrimp and it tasted kinda a funky which made me glad that I only wasted $2 on the 'jumbo shrimp.' The pasta that came with the Italian Festival and the Veal Parmingana was good and the ricotta cheese was delicious. The Philly cheesesteak was like 2 large sandwiches, (the bread was quite hard and flaky and the steak was tasty. We ordered and shared a slice of cheesecake and that was very yummy. Overall it was okay, but I think I'll try a different restaurant next time we're in the area. read more

Their pizza is New York style and it is extremely good, worth the visit alone! They also offer main Italian dishes .. This past Saturday evening (around 5 PM) we ordered a Large Pepperoni Pizza for take out. Arrived before the 20 minute estimated ready time. Pizza was boxed and ready to go. Got back to the house within 10 minutes of pick up. It was very clear that this was not a "fresh" pie - it was dried out and room temperature at best. The do have pre-made pizzas at the counter for sale by the slice. Pretty sure that the pizza they gave us had been sitting there for awhile. Very disappointed! read more

Hello all This was our first time here for dinner. We have had take away pizza several times which has always been good. My wife had the pasta with fresh Tomatoes with anchovy and oil sauce (similar to pasta puttenesa). She said it was very good. I had the Zuppa de Pesce which was very nice indeed. The dish included 3 mussels, 2 little neck clams, 3 shrimp, a few chunks of of scallops, plenty of squid and a little Scungilli. I would have liked more Scungilli included, but that's me. The sauce was also tasty. The decor was traditional family style Italian and the service was "OK". Our server did not tell us about the nightly specials (we overhead another table after ordering) a BIG MISS. We decided to have cannoli for dessert which for some reason were served with chocolate sauce dripped over them making it too sweet for me. Sometimes it pays to let the food speak for itself (don't get too cute with it). The issue for me is the sever could have asked if we wanted the chocolate sauce up front. I did not eat mine. Our server chose not to remove the cost of one of the cannoli's from the bill, so I removed it from the tip. Overall, good food, fairly priced, but a little upfront communication would be helpful. Expensive. Two slices of pizza will be almost $10. I typically find the thin crust not that impressive but all my friends LOVE it. There is one really meaty thin slice that I find excellent though. I do love the thick Sicilian slice with it's crunch and great sauce. I've had friends eat there for an actual meal and have told me it's good. The price keeps me from going for that option...the price per slice already makes this a very occasional bite. Worth exploration for sure! read more

Italian food made with love. You cant fake this stuff. The antipasto has sopressata made locally and our pizza had wonderful riccota with local sausage and a thin crust that didnt wilt. I realize now since I currently live in a largely culinary black hole how good I had I had it growing up in Southern New England. The pizza is good here - the ingredients are fresh and they actually sell pizza by the slice, something that is uncommon in this area (If you want pizza by the slice, go to NYC). They make a wonderful Sicilian pizza, much like you will find in NYC or on Long Island. Yesterday, we bought a vegetarian red pizza for take out. A little bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. Loaded with toppings, including yellow pepper slices. They have about a dozen specialty pizzas available, but you can't go wrong with just plain cheese or Sicilian. Dinners are good also, although I usually come for the pizza. Vetrano's is usually crowded, so plan accordingly. They have a small section where you can sit and wait and watch TV. Vetrano's dining room is small, no more than 20 booths and tables combined. The place is easy to get to - right on Granite Street (Route 1) next to Radio Shack and Sunrise Market (also recommended). You might have to park at the side of the building, depending on what time you arrive. Overall, good food, friendly atmosphere, polite service, good for families, good for visitors and convenient to get to. read more
