Party of 9, we've been sitting here for 20 minutes and no one still hasn't come to the table. Not even to take drink orders. Finally a waiter came over after 25 minutes and took our order. Waitress was very friendly tho and cute and apologized for the bad service (confusion with waitresses? Idk) Ordered waters and didn't get them served until 10 minutes later. Besides the awful service our waitress was great and deeply apologized for the delayed service. I had the contandina (pasta with squash, zucchini, broccoli, carrots in a garlic olive oil). So so so good, my only regret was ordering it with wheat pasta because I'm on a diet but with regular pasta I bet it'd be 10x better. The rest of the family got pene ala vodka (so good, definitely the dish I recommend the most), Alfredo, grilled chicken salad, pasta with sauce, and salmon special (which my ad enjoyed). No one complained about their meals and they all looked delicious. I would recommend this place, just wish they gave better service so I could rate this place 5 stars. Just okay, not great. There was a short wait even with a reservation, not a big deal. But slow service. We ordered a salad with our pizza but it never showed up and at the end of the meal when we pointed that out to our waitress instead of simply saying I'm sorry, she said "oh yeah I guess they forgot". Hum.... who's they? - Anyway slow service, forgot one of the two food items that i ordered and pizza that was just okay gets you about 2 to 2 1/2 stars. read more

I like this place, but it's never been my first choice to eat there. The food is very good, but pretty expensive. It's usually also kind of cramped in there. Every time I've gone in there I felt squeezed and basically had to yell to talk- but what can you expect in an Italian restaurant in an Italian town? Otherwise, the staff isn't very friendly and up to par. They don't seen happy, and we waited 20 minutes to receive our check after finishing our food. We would return though. read more

Go here a lot. Food is great. But the thing that happens ALL THE TIME is being put on hold and instead of hold, they actually hang up almost every time. It's so annoying that we've actually just stopped calling them. I know that seems strange but it happens over and over. I'm not exaggerating either. Every time I'm put on hold this happens. Forget everything I've ever written about pizza...you know about it being either great or good...I have finally found an "incredible"..Ventranos "grandmas pizza" is the holy grail of pizza..all ingredients made on site...( other pizzas there have dough from NYC)..their homemade dough and sauce is to die for...this square pizza (16 pieces) has the most wonderful crust and sauce...honestly I felt I could eat the entire pie...and it doesn't stop there...salads...beyond fresh...pasta...fantastic...but grandmas pizza ...well...try it...you'll thank me...and ask for Karyn (kah-rinn)...she's the purveyor of info and will deliver the prize... Love this place! The pizza is great. The quality of ingredients is way above almost anywhere else in town. Nice, thin crust with a little bit of crispiness. If you want to go all out, go for the Special Combination - loaded with delicious toppings. Pretty much any pizza you get will be delicious. Also a big fan of the calamari (go fra diavolo style - you won't regret it!) and the chicken marsala. Other reviewers mention price - this place is very reasonable for the quality of food and portion size. Yes, other places are cheaper...and so are their ingredients. Staff is always friendly. They know us when we come through the door and grab our order (we almost always get take-out). They also give you a delicious, hot sliver of their cheese pizza! So yummy! Would definitely recommend. oh...and if you order 4 pizzas, they give you a free cheese pizza. Love that when our basement is full of my husband and his hungry bandmates! read more

Really, really good pizza. We come from the New Haven area so we are accustomed to the finest pizza. This place does not disappoint. Crispy thinner crust, good quality ingredients, flavorful and satisfying. We were debating whether to even get pizza outside of our home town area. It is usually a mistake. But trust me -- you will be happy. We had 1) pepperoni/cherry pepper 2) half bacon/half sausage 3) half plain/half meatball I only wish that we had gotten a fourth because I'm already looking forward to late night leftovers. ABSOFUCKINGLUTELY DIVINE. I come in and it's like I'm transported to heaven and there's just a sea of that garlic bread with the garlic loaded olive oil. That bread has magical powers. After my friends and I eat it we start to get the giggles and make a scene. It's an amazing journey every time I go there. 10/10 would recommend getting the bread and a big ol' grandmas pie. read more

Ordered a penne with vodka sauce and grilled chicken, besides it having the most unappetizing vodka sauce I've ever tasted, an probably the worst example of a vodka sauce, the chicken tasted like chewy charcoal and on top of it all I've been sick the past two days from food poisoning from this meal ( which I was only able to stomach about 1/4 of the dish ) before throwing it in the trash. Worst dinning experience ever today! They sat us in the back away in the corner. Only one table in the whole restaurant was being used. We had 2 Adults, 2 teenagers & 2 well behaved kids. I should have just left but it was my daughter's birthday and she was so excited to go out to eat there. My pizza was cold, my daughters meal came out way after the rest of the food, the waitress refilled our soda cups with water instead of getting us new cups. Then she put my pizza in the box and folded it over on itself. I get the bill and it was a forced gratuity of 20% without informing us. It doesn't say it on the menu nor did the waitress inform us once. I always tip good. Most of the time over 20%. (Last time my bill was $40 I tipped $20) But the fact I wasn't even informed before I was handed the bill or after was completely uncalled for. What if I didn't read the bill? Imagine how many people probably don't realize a tip was already included. I had an amazing experience the first time. But this time was so uncomfortable I'll never return again. read more

My family have been coming to Vetrano's for years, and have always had great meals. During this Pandemic, we have been doing "Take Out Friday" to support local restaurants we know and trust. We decided on Vetrano's this past week. While the food was good, I was very dissapointed in the entree's my husband and I ordered. We both ordered the shrimp Rivera. On the menu it says served with spinach. We both ordered with with no pasta. When I picked it up and got it home, I was really dissapointed. It only had 3 shrimp sitting in the butter sauce. There was no spinach. I was quite dissapointed as this was also $21 each, and that was all that we got. Yes, we chose no pasta, but we were still expected the spinach with the shrimp. read more

What, was I HIGH the first time I reviewed this restaurant?? This place is fine but the food sucks. I've been there many times since my first review and I have to say that their entrees are flavorless. I still stand by the pizza at Vetrano's but other restaurants in town make it better every time. If they could just figure out how to make their food taste like something, this would be a great local-color Italian restaurant in Westerly. I have been ordering takeout from Vetrano's for the past couple of years and have had a good experience with taking out. However, dining in the restaurant is a completely different story. I was greeted by a very nice and welcoming gentleman and he showed us to the table. From that point we waited over 10 minutes for anyone to come over and greet us. Servers had walked by us several times without saying a word or acknowledging us. It was only because I had gotten frustrated and approached a sever myself to ask if we could please get service that anyone even came over. The server did apologize, and while they were pleasant, unfortunately the service did not improve from this point. We had to wait a while for drinks and before leaving I had to ask for the bread we never got with our pasta to be put in a to go container so we could take it home. I don't think I'll be dining in here again anytime soon. It's unfortunate because I really like the food, but the fact that the server allowed us to walk out of the restaurant without acknowledging how poor our service was, was disappointing. I have had some decent food here over the years but recent experiences have left a sour taste in my mouth. Two fo the last three times I have ordered a take-out pizza from here, I have arrived home to find the bottom of the pizza burnt- I mean bottom of the pizza is black burnt. My fault for not checking after it happened once, but it will NOT happen a third time, as I will not be back to Vetrano's. It also tastes like they have changed the sauce- it is now a very sweet, very watery tomato mix...not very good in my opinion. Vetrano's is an excellent option for Italian food! I recommend the eggplant parmigiana, but the pizza is tasty too. The bar area is a cool local to hang out for a couple drinks as well. If you're a fan of futbol, they usually have a game or two on. This restaurant also has several gluten free options! read more

I come here every time I'm in Rhode Island, the food is great. The service the last time I went was horrible. We went on a busy short staffed Saturday which was understandable and okay. However one of the servers (not ours) was horribly rude to the bus boy Tom. We only know his name because she was complaining so loudly. The poor guy didn't do anything wrong and was working so hard yet she kept criticizing him. Her name was Kate and she made me feel so uncomfortable in there. She kept talking about she needs to have a training day to retrain the bus boys because they don't know what they're doing. Save that complaining for the back and stop puffing your cheeks when the kid try's to explain what happened. Keep up the good work Tom. read more

My fiancé and I have always gone here after a long day at the beach. This year we decided to drive to westerly and have lunch. We walked into the restaurant and the cook told us to choose our own seat. We sat down and the waitress came over to ask us what we'd like to drink We ordered sangria and a glass of water. I'm unsure if the water is tap water -it tasted kind of funny. Sangria on the other hand was just "ok". The base red wine that was used was very bitter. I'm not exactly sure what fruit was in the sangria, nothing that I thought was edible. We then ordered chowder and salad with chicken. The soup was delicious and the chicken seasoned for the salad was very delicious. Our bill came to $70 without tip. For what we ordered I think it was a bit too much. (Just my opinion) read more

You're going to find the best places in Westerly just like this...in strip malls. The bread and oil they give you to start is so delicious - warm and fluffy! The menu is just like what you'd picture at an Italian restaurant: salad, soup, pizza, and pasta. I love the baked ziti or veal parmesan, and all entrees come with a salad. I don't think they have it anymore, but they used to have a Rigatoni 4 Formaggi dish that was AMAZING - basically grown up mac and cheese. Please bring it back, Vetrano's! read more

Some great, traditional think crust pizza. They also have really good specialty pizzas (e.g., buffalo chicken, BLT). The other Italian meals are okay, but you can find better (esp for the price) elsewhere. But many think this is the best pizza in town. read more

My wife and I spent three days in Misquamicut Beach and this last Sunday night we went here for dinner. We arrived at 8 pm, an hour before they closed. I ordered Zuppa di Pesce and my wife ordered Chicken Parmesan. The Zuppa was inedible. The shrimp, which still had the tail ends on, something you see in a shrimp cocktail, were hard and chewy, the calamari was like rubber bands. I couldn't go any further, even the manager agreed if not cooked correctly. So, I settled for a slice of pizza instead. My wife had her favorite dish, chicken parm which came smothered and flooded in tomato sauce because the chicken was over cooked. If they were closing so soon, they should have given a choice of simple, fresh food that could have been served instead of the disaster that came out of the kitchen. At least I wasn't charged for my Zuppa or slice. Three years ago when we last vacationed there, it was great. The service on this last Sunday night was great, very understanding and the manager came to the table and apologized. BTW, we were the last customers to be seated and when we left the restaurant was empty. The chef must have gone home and left an assistant in charge. What can I say? read more

Stopped in for dinner with my hubby. We received prompt friendly service. All staff was great. The food was delicious . Free focaccia bread with dipping oil and garlic. Yum. We both had creamy bacon potato soup -special. I had chicken scampi special and hubby had Borbone-pasta dish with local sausage. Waitress informed is they use as much farm to table as possible. It tasted it too. Portions were large and we got house salad included with meals. Plenty of food to take home. Only 2 minor gripes if I had to say something ... That for the pricing they should have fresh grated Parmesan cheese not the shaker kind that they set at the table. Also, again minor item, would prefer if salad wasn't served in plastic bowl. For some reason I don't think to go to Vetrano's even though I live right around the corner. We went on Friday night and had very good meals. I had shrimp scampi (fabulous shrimp) and my husband had Chicken Vetrano. Loved the bread and garlic dipping oil to start! Very nice hostess, waitress was pleasant although we never did hear the specials. I have to give a "shout out" to the young man (bus boy) who was hustling around bringing fresh bread, taking dishes away. Not a fan of the calamari (I'm a bit of a calamari snob - very seldom is it really good but I keep trying everywhere I go) and my husband wasn't a huge fan of the Pasta e fagioli but all in all it was a good meal. When you imagine NY thin crust, you think of greasy, gooey, perfect slices of quattro formaggio pizza cooked in a stone oven with the crust a beautiful golden brown--the pizza itself the size of rims even the God Father could appreciate. That's KINDA what you get at Vetrano's. Kinda is being generous. The slices are over prices and underwhelming, the cheese is sparse and the sauce is bland. You'd do better to get a thin crust somewhere else. On the flip side, the rest of the Italian food ain't half bad. Vetrano's makes a pretty good marinara sauce that makes the flavor with almost every item on the menu. My Irish mother can do better "traditional" Italian. The interior design of the restaurant is hilariously tacky. It's straight from the 80s with Italian country side murals and pleather booths. read more

The food is classic Italian and delicious. I had an arugula salad with cranberries, pine nuts and gorgonzola that was out of this world. It was drizzled with a balsamic vinaigrette reduction. Heaven! My only complaint would be the deafening noise level during times when it is crowded. Of course, there is always take-out. read more
