We are new to Clarkston and have dined in once and ordered out several times. Our dine in experience was good although my wife didn't love her pasta dish. The sausage and meatball deal. More recently we have been ordering take out. Again my wife didn't care for her pasta, in our most recent order. Alfredo this time. Not great, not terrible, just meh. I always get the same thing and it is usually good. Tonight i was calling in an order and asked if I could substitute a side of pasta for the soup which has yet to be worth eating or the salad which is usually good. I was told they would not do the substitution by the kid on the phone and then had it confirmed by the manager. The owner is not letting them do it they said. No sir, even if we charge you extra, you cannot substitute a side of pasta. This place is Italian right? I informed them that I actually drive by Andiamo's to come to their business and that we take out at least once every two weeks (still unpacking). Still, they remained vigilant in the protection of their pasta. Despite being informed that they would be losing a customer, they wouldn't budge. Funny thing, the pasta isn't that great, I just think it goes better with my dish than clam chowder????. So for like $1.50 worth of pasta and marinara, they lost a customer. Their loss will be Andiamo's gain. I will not be eating their mediocre strip mall Italian again. read more

My family and I have now been here several times and it really is excellent. It is a very small place - really a hidden jewel. The service is very good and all of the food items we have ever tried are delicious. Pricing is quite reasonable for the high level of service and quality of the food. During this time of emergency and restaurants being closed except for carry out, a friend recommended Via Bolognas in Clarkston. We have eaten here many times and food has always been good. We ordered the chicken picatta dinner special. It was $39 but we couldn't believe all the food we got. 6 pieces of chicken, vegetable combo, large bowl of penne pasta and tomato basil sauce, large fresh greens salad and dressing, whole loaf of bread and 4 cannoli. It was delicious and we have enough food for 2 of us for likely 3 meals. A real value and we thank Bolognas for being open and serving the public at this time. NO price gauging here for sure. I cannot believe the few bad reviews VB has gotten. It's a great Italian restaurant with a both traditional and creative menu (been to Italy numerous times). What, you miss Alexander's? My family and friends have never been disappointed there. Don't slam the waitstaff, as there's not a huge waitstaff talent pool out here with mostly HS kids available. Ok so they have good food but the combination of the high cost and the Long amount of time we spent sitting and staring at each other while waiting for our food and/or any attention from our server was Not worth it. I feel going to Olive Garden would be a better use of our time. Also, when asked if we wanted parmesan on top of our meals we said "yes please" to have her never come back until we were done with our meal. Disappointing. Tried the Andrea pizza today...OMG, the best we ever ate. 4 good sized pieces, just the right size for 2 people. Hot out of the oven with dripping ricotta cheese, crispy fried eggplant, fresh spinach and a mild tomato sauce on a thin, crispy, crust. Really good. Next time, we're going to try the rib pizza. Great little hidden romantic spot. I really love their entrees, especially the eggplant. My ONLY wish is that they offered a better salad/salad dressing and that their bread was more flavorful, it's really missing something. They give you oil and herbs to dip, which is just ok. ~Updating my review from Dec 2015. We still go back to Bolognas but most always for take out. The food quality is really very good and we typically order the same thing about 2-3 times a month. Good amount of food for the money and it is the best Italian food around Clarkston. My one issue is the quality control on the takeout orders. We almost always order spaghetti with 2 meatballs as one entree and probably 1/2 the time the meatballs are not there. I now check the order every time. The food is sooooo good. My three favorite dishes are the calamari, eggplant rolentini, and spaghetti bolognese. I love the fried calamari with the spicy lemon wine sauce. I suggest dipping the bread in it. Oh the bread with oil-balsamic dip is really good too. Next I love the eggplant rolentini and lastly the spaghetti bolognese with meat balls. Big wine list. Very nice friendly staff, I always see the same servers. Food seems to take a little bit longer than other restaurants but it is homemade and worth the wait. I just moved nearby and was excited to try the Eggplant Parmesan. I ordered takeout and inquired about what it comes with, it doesn't come with anything, just the dish. For ten dollars a small side salad or two breadsticks should accompany it, but whatever. The hostess said 15min, I arrived on time and the young hostess said she had to check on my order (a to go bag was on the counter next to her). She returned and didn't address me at all, after a few min. I said excuse me you didn't tell me how long. She responded the waitress is getting it now. After about ten min. a waitress came out and asked if I'd been helped, I said the hostess had. The hostess then said to the waitress I was waiting for a to go order and the waitress said it's right there ON THE COUNTER! I told the hostess I thought it would be cold, she felt the bottom and said it's still warm (no apologies). Irritated I went home (2min away), it was cold. Reheating a dish like this in the microwave is not the same! Very disappointed and I would not recommend the terrible service to anyone. Customer service is lacking... read more

I am going to give three stars because they had table cloths (otherwise only two stars). You dont have to eat on a naked table. But that was the only highlight. Our waitress didnt pay attention. It took her ten minutes to bring as the menu after we sat down at our table. Our son didnt get any water - we were three people and we only got two glasses of water. We ordered a bottle of wine, got dirty and too small wine glasses (customers at the other table got big red wine glasses). I got my side dish (noodles with tomatoe sauce) five minutes before I got my entree (veal). So I had to eat it separate. The noodles and the sauce were not self made. That was for sure some supermarket stuff. The meat was ok. We got two pizzas. But this was just an Amercian Pie Pizza (not a "real" Pizza at all) and didnt taste anything. We found can vegetables on the pizza - not fresh. That restaurant is better than a lot of other ones but doesnt meet our understanding of a good standard (no fresh food, not self made, less taste, bad service). read more

If I could give zero stars I would! Went here for the first time tonight. Waited forever for drinks. Waited forever for food. Waitress, although sweet, kept going behind the bar to check her phone. Food finally served. My dish, the fried gnocchi-- yuck! I took two bites and let the waitress know that I didn't like it. She asked if I wanted something else but after how long we had already waited I politely declined. Check came - was still charged full price for my dish! Told waitress I was surprised that I was charged and she apologized and told me that her Manager told her because I personally didn't like the food and it was no fault of the kitchen I still had to pay full price. We were hoping to find a go-to Italian restaurant without having to drive too far. After reading several good reviews I thought this place could be the one. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed. Our first clue should have been that there were only a few patrons in there on a Saturday evening. The atmosphere was quaint, considering it is in a strip mall. Our server was not on par for this type of restaurant. She was friendly, but lacked some basic etiquette; she didn't tell us about the specials, or engage us with any suggestions. We started with wine - typical wine list with average prices. I ordered the lasagna, and the house salad. My husband ordered the baked penne with meatballs and sausage, and the cream of mushroom soup. The salad was a small plate of lettuce, one half of a cherry tomato, a chunk of cucumber and some garbanzo beans all drenched in dressing, ugh. The soup was actually tasty. The bread and dipping sauce were ok, nothing great. My lasagna was a good size portion, but the sauce was sweet and reminded me of jarred sauce. I was hungry so I ate it. The ricotta flavor was lost in the taste of the sauce and melted cheese. The lasagna pasta was way over cooked. My husband's dish had the oddest tasting meatballs. They tasted like they were mostly breading, and could've been frozen from the grocery store. The penne was over cooked as well. It had that same jar-like sauce as the lasagna. He took about three bites, then told the waitress he did not care for it. She asked if he wanted to order something else, but he was so put-off by the taste that he didn't even want to eat anymore. He had her take his plate. We got our bill and the penne was not taken off. When we questioned our waitress she said she was not able to remove the meal, and that the manager said to keep it on the bill. Not a very good way to do business or get us to come back for a second try. I guess the restaurant needs every dollar they can get, seeing that they aren't pulling in customers on a Saturday night. What a shame. We obviously won't be back, and we will be telling others to stay away. read more

My family used to go here years ago when it first opened and after it became Joe Bologna. We stopped going due to quality and service issues years ago. We decided to try it again tonight. Party of 9 people Wait time: Sat immediately, ordered within ten minutes. Bread arrived ten minutes after ordering Food arrived in stages starting 45 minutes after we ordered. Food: My wife and I ordered a pizza to split. The pizza was disgusting. Tasted like freezerburned frozen pizza. Crust was tough and burnt. Middle was soggy and greasy. Pepperonis were burnt. Waitstaff: Our waitress was distant at best. Once food arrived, never came back to check on us. In fact, no waitstaff was around at all after we got our food. Only came back when they thought everybody was finished with food. They asked my dad numerous times if he wanted a box, even though he was clearly eating, as if they were trying to rush us out. Waitstaff regarding issue: I advised our waitress that the pizza was horrible, she made an offhand apology and took it away. I would have done so sooner but nobody could be found. She asked us if we wanted anything to go, but we didn't want to wait another 45 minutes for a salad or something else. Brought us a hard, bland cannoli on the house. Not my idea of good customer service. Also, they only cur out bill for the pizza in half. Should have been taken completely off. Management visibility: None. Not even after an issue with food. Anyplace else I've been, if there was a problem, management would have been out in a heartbeat. Especially a place this small that was only about half full. Portion sizes: Very small. My brother ordered Chicken Parm. For $15, he got two small pieces of burnt-looking chicken that had a little bit of cheese on top, covered with watery marinara style sauce. No pasta or anything. Could have had more chicken parm + pasta for less at Olive Garden. Our pizza was tiny too. Barely could be cut into 4 pieces. Value: The pizza wasn't worth even the $4.25 we paid. The chicken parm my brother had was DEFINITELY not worth $15. Overall: The food was lousy, the service was extremely lacking, time to get food was bad, and they clearly don't know how to handle a displeased customer. You do not get your money's worth at this establishment. Definitely not the upscale Italian eatery it is touted to be. I will never be going back here. read more
