I highly recommend the Dental office of Dr Ignacio De La Vega and his staff. Everybody there is so kind and they treat you very well and they all show that LOVE what they do. After my dentist retired, we had a little global pandemic, and then things got busy and ... in 2026 I brought them a mouth some California dentists wouldn't touch without hundreds of dollars in X-ray and lab fees up front. Then wouldn't touch. ​ In two days of care, they replaced a complex crown, did four quadrants of deep cleaning, and filled an embarrassing number of cavities. I paid about two and a half Gs for what I was quoted elsewhere for between $6K and $10K. This is dental work under local anesthesia, so some pain from numbing is expected. They have a deal with a chain hotel in easy walking distance that has an included breakfast with soft foods and a UV water dispenser on every floor. From my initial contact on WhatsApp, to their offer to Uber me to the office, to patient intake and detailed assessment including head CTs (!), 3D modeling (!!!), photography of teeth and individual tooth x-rays, and the competence of the clinical team... I don't believe this level of dental care is available in Estados Unidos. If I have a friend who needs dental care, I will cheerfully refer them here. Note: WhatsApp and Uber are essential tools in Tijuana.​

But dr Ricardo was amazing and actually managed to fix the issue and save the tooth from root canal. I am truly grateful and loved the staff and all I met there. My friend just accompanied me as it was my first time going to Tijuana and walking in and she lives nearer in San Diego and does trips there more frequently. I went in there with an $800 estimate and my partner went in there with a $3000 estimate and we were told that both of those were unnecessary so we were both able to leave with a $40 cleaning. They did provide photos of the damaged tooth, though, showing that the work needed to be done. But I didn't want to pay that much. So, I did some research on tiktok and found Washington Dental. Reached out to them via email and they setup a nice appointment for a Saturday. Crossing the border is easy and if you tell the people at the border crossing you're going to Washington Dental, they'll give you a lift for free and WD will pay. (but, just be sure to confirm this first with your driver). Checked in, and waited five minutes and then they called me in. The whole process took maybe 45 minutes each visit (it takes a total of two to do it), and here I am, 2 months later with a few extra bucks in my pocket and a new crown!

Unfortunately, the actual filling work done by the dentist was very poor. Issues I experienced: 1. The filling chipped and fell off within the first week, in three separate pieces. 2. The contact point between the repaired molar and adjacent tooth was incorrect floss passes straight through with no resistance, creating a gap that was not there before. 3. There was excess filling material left on the outside of the tooth. 4. During bite adjustment, the dentist ground down not only the filling but my actual molar and the neighboring teeth, even though the bite was still off. At this point, the tooth is worse than when I came in. I'm very disappointed in the quality of the restorative work and would not feel comfortable having this dentist perform fillings again. I hope X Dentistry reviews this case and takes appropriate action or provides additional training, as I would not want another patient to go through a similar experience.

Office is clean and the drs are very knowledgeable. If I'm not mistaken dr. Julio is also a dental surgeon and professor at the university. Also they accept most American dental insurance. Mine covered all expenses didn't even have to pay co payment. And covered the braces where here in the US it wouldn't have been because it is seen as cosmetic.
