We had a reservation and although it was mistakenly written down for the wrong night, the staff still seated us right away, which we appreciated. The trains seemed to be passing every 10-15 minutes and they were extremely loud, making conversation nearly impossible until they passed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It wasn't the restaurants fault, but it did make it hard to have a nice meal and catch up with family. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Regardless, it was still better than dining inside which was unbearably loud.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The penne with a hearty bolognese sauce, and the bread with olive oil and balsamic was incredible. The skirt steak and Caesar salad also looked delicious. A couple of small things: there were no salt and pepper shakers on the table, and my uncles water glass had a small crack, but it was quickly replaced by our server. We got a couple margaritas, a paloma, beer, and an old-fashioned. The old-fashioned was not great but the margaritas were excellent, especially the strawberry jalapeño! We ordered six drinks, two appetizers, one salad, and three entrées and our total was $120! We tried the meatballs (they were gigantic as the menu showcased), the Caprese salad, chicken Parmesan, gluten-free vodka pasta with chicken, and their chicken wings The service was great, she actually took the old-fashioned off our bill and let him swap it with a different drink because it tasted a little weird. Service was terrible. After we got our drinks, I took us over 20 minutes to come back. We had to ask someone to go get him so we can put in our food order. Then we put in the appetizer and the entrée he brought the appetizer. We finished the whole thing and waited another 15 minutes before we had to ask once again for him to come clear our plates and bring us our entrees . The Host had to go get him twice. The service was particularly concerning--the waitress was unfriendly, unhelpful, and, at one point, even threw a menu at our table. That behavior was unacceptable and left our entire group feeling upset and unwelcome. Beyond the service issues, we were also dissatisfied with the food and the overall dining experience. The quality of the food was below expectations, and the experience as a whole did not justify a return visit based on this occasion alone. While I am willing to give the restaurant another chance under different circumstances, it is disappointing to see patrons treated this way. I visited this place after hearing people rave about it for months. Their happy hour is jaw dropping- 50% off the ENTIRE menu! That is unheard of in delray. On top of that, they offer an entire menu of cocktails and beverages for happy hour. While this is only available at the high tops outside of the bar, they have more than enough seating to accommodate those interested. I went with a classic margarita and the chicken Parmesan. The classic margarita was pretty tasty and I appreciate the bar tender asking if I wanted salt or sugar. He was quick, attentive, and helpful! My meal was surprisingly huge. I actually was able to share with my mom and we were both stuffed. The chicken was butterfly cut, breaded, then topped with light sauce and a generous heaping of cheese. It was perfect. I will go back for Mario alone. This guy is like your Italian uncle, you are his long lost family, and he wants to make sure your visit is the best. I sat outside with some friends and just had cocktails while watching the people and the train. He brought a basket of bread and a full carafe of water, as he said it was important to stay hydrated, and checked on us without making us feel rushed or in the way. Their bread is a ciabatta roll, opened, buttered, toasted with garlic salt, Italian seasoning and Parmesan cheese sprinkled on it, and cut up into strips. Amazing by itself. Stopped here on a whim while walking to the beach. I got the Nonna's Sunday Gravy and my friend ordered the Rigatoni Alla Norma with a side of mashed potatoes. I thought the Sunday Gravy was great with thick robust noodles and plenty of meat, was able to take home half for a second meal later. My friend said her pasta was good and her mashed potatoes were very smooth, but lacking some seasoning. Service was a bit on the slow side for the amount of people inside but not bad. I also noticed that my table was not served complimentary bread when it appeared other tables were, but that may be because we were taking advantage of their happy hour and sat at a high top. The restaurant is cute, just very warm since they keep the doors open and have no fans. The happy hour is a great deal! 50% off all food items until 7pm. 4 stars because without the happy hour this place would be severely overpriced in my opinion. I decided to eat here because the guy lured me in with the happy hour special. I hadn't done any prior research on it. I'm a little torn on how to write this review. If it was just based on food, I would give more stars. I had the veal Milanese. Huge, thin, perfectly cooked piece of fried veal. The arugula salad was a nice portion and very fresh. The happy hour deal is everything on the menu - entrees included - is 50% off. I got a $54 entree for 1/2 price. Not a bad deal. Although I would never pay $54 for what I ordered. The service is what was lacking. I almost felt like an inconvenience. I was dining solo at a table so maybe he was unhappy with that. I was never offered a bread basket as other tables. I had to ask for another glass of wine when he stopped by the table to check on me. Didn't ask about a wine refill and started walking away so i had to ask him myself. I just don't get it. Then he just dropped off the check without asking me if I wanted another drink, dessert, etc. i was very surprised. I had my after dinner cocktail picked out in my mind and was contemplating dessert. He wanted me gone I guess. Maybe he wanted to clear out the happy hour people to get higher checks. I tipped on the real price though. Which I'm regretting a little bit...lol. Have had this spot in mind since New Year's Day and just tried it almost a year of craving. Went to the point with our pastas. Sadly mine wasn't as what i've tried before. Sauce was too thick, cheese seemed to have been mixed with the sauce which what i've had is that the cheese is at the end of the bowl, like the pieces melting underneath it. House sangria was good tbh, some places make it too sweet but this was good. Tiramisu really good. Im picky with my desserts so this were my pistachio ice cream Server was attentive. If I could leave no star I would! My husband and I were visiting from NY as we do every year. We met friends and we walked to the bar to have a drink before dinner, well what a mistake that was. I have never experienced such a rude bartender or Manager.... When my friend asked if Prossecco was dry or sweet. she was basically told he didn't know and she should just deal with it. When she told the manager about the situation he was barely able to communicate in english and basically told her if she didn't like it to leave. Clearly won't be returning! read more
