    Baked Clams Oreganata
    Britt Z.

This review is long overdue. About three months ago my girlfriend and I enjoyed a fantastic dinner here. We had reservations and we arrived a few minutes before they opened. They were kind enough to seat us early, which we appreciated. Positano's serves a forty dollar three-course prix fixe menu every day, year round. Great value. With sixteen entrées on the menu to choose from, there is something for everyone. I went with the baked clams oreganata as my first course. The seven clams were very small but quite good. I had the house salad with creamy Italian dressing for the second course. It was just a basic salad, but it was nicely chilled and I loved the dressing. Ravioli Di Ossobuco was incredible and I am glad I picked that as my main dish. The ravioli were in a marsala type of sauce and this was delicious. I wouldn't hesitate to order this dish again. Portions were large and I had enough ravioli for my lunch the next day. The restaurant is lovely and the service is top notch. I was pleasantly surprised that the prix fixe menu was not only a great value, but really turned out to be an enjoyable dinner. The food is excellent, the service was wonderful and for forty dollars, you can have a nice dinner without breaking the bank. They open daily at 5pm and reservations are strongly encouraged. Highly recommend!

    Inside - Before they opened....

We had an excellent experience here -- from start to finish. In fact, even before we got there. My friend had called for a reservation outside of their business hours expecting to leave a message on an answering machine. A very nice gentleman answered the phone and took our information. She remarked on it to me. We were meeting for an early dinner as she was getting out of work early. As we both were parking our cars right out front, we realized that we were there before the restaurant even opened. It was very hot outside. We decided to see if we could be let in before they opened. And yes, they were nice enough to let us enjoy their air conditioning while they were still setting up the tables for the evening. The ambiance inside was welcoming and cozy. They had a 3-course prix fix menu that we both decided was appealing. Each course -- appetizer, soup/salad, and entree -- had a lot of options. It was hard for me to decide exactly what to order. We both chose their baked clams oreganata. The stuffed clams were tiny but delicious and we both liked them. For the second course, we both chose a salad. She had the house salad, and I had the Caesar. The salad was good as well. For our entrees, I had wanted the trout listed on the menu which they didn't have that evening. They were able to substitute cod for the Francese sauced fish dish. It was excellent. Perfectly cooked in a light but very lemony sauce. The portion was large, so I took half home for another meal. My friend ordered the ossobucco stuffed ravioli. She said it was very good. And she, also, took half of her meal home. We did look over the (separate) dessert menu to see if anything appealed, but we were both quite full. I had a coffee so we could continue to chat and relax after dining. We had excellent service throughout from Thomaso (sp?) who was gracious and efficient. He patiently answered all our questions and professionally handled our special requests. I look forward to coming back here soon. I know my husband and several other friends who would thoroughly enjoy dining here.

I drove by Positano and decided to go for an impromptu dinner and was surprised by how superior the food was than on prior visits. Everything we had was better than most local Italian restaurants and the seafood was better than most South Florida seafood restaurants. We started with a generous and complimentary bread basket and then tried many items and the food ranged from good to excellent. Basics such as Chicken Parm had a cleaner fresher taste than other more expensive restaurants. Often restaurant lobster can be overcooked, dry and lacking in flavor but here it was the opposite and was excellent. Pastas were also very good as was a Stuffed Pepper. We had wine and drinks and prices were very fair and the reasonable prices extended to food. Service was better this time around but the staff seem a little rigid. The dining room is a little too staid and sedate for me and I prefer a different vibe but that's a preference issue and not a big deal. Positano is close to my house and I look forward to going back.

What went well was the food, great professional service and ambiance . I had the eggplant to start with a wonderful bread basket and no room for the whole wheat pasta. The portions were generous in size and delicious . The branzino was wonderful. I would definitely go back!

We were three couples here for a Saturday evening dinner. It was crowded and very noisy. It was very hard to hear our friends talk. Even our waiter misunderstood my order and got it wrong. There were 3 courses. I had the charcuterie to start, then a salad and last, the veal chop Milanese. All were good. Price was fixed at $42. We sat on the porch which had clear plastic walls to keep out rain and insects. It's difficult to appreciate eating out during the holiday season when you want to hear your friends talk.

First time here upon a recommendation from a friend. Indoor and outdoor seating I love the atmosphere. We had a very nice server who brought crusty bread right away with butter. We had the dinner special, an appetizer a salad and dinner and we added dessert and coffee.

We came here…read moreto celebrate a birthday, and it was an absolutely perfect evening from start to finish EXCEPT for the restaurant manager that was at front of the restaurant with the hostess they were both NOT welcoming at all this is why I am not giving them a 5 stars review. The food was excellent--truly authentic, packed with flavor, and cooked to perfection. You can taste the quality in every dish. Beyond the incredible food, the ambiance of the restaurant is wonderful, strikes the perfect balance of cozy and upscale. What really took the night to the next level, though, was our server, Tony. He was hands-down the best! Tony went above and beyond to make the birthday celebration feel incredibly special, attentive, warm, and genuinely welcoming. Make sure you save room for dessert because the strawberry shortcake is absolutely to die for, and the after dinner cookies were the perfect sweet finish. However as mentioned the restaurant manager and hostess need a refresher training in hospitality and customer service.

Food is excellent. They give you some bread with fresh tomatoes to start, along with freshly baked bread and breadsticks. For apps, we went with the eggplant and burrata. The eggplant was great. Reminded me of when we used to take my grandma out to eat at these old Italian restaurants in and around Hoboken back in the day. For dinner, I opted for chicken piccata, instead of the veal option on the menu. The sauce was cooked perfectly, lots of flavor and lots of capers. Each entree comes with mashed potatoes, some cooked carrots and broccoli. Service was very good but I was a little flustered at how quick they wanted to clear everything off the table. I would still like to keep a bread plate if that's okay with everyone! I thought it was a little pricey myself, but hey, we all had a great time and dad paid, so can't complain!

I ordered the Tomato Cream Gnocchi and my boyfriend had the Mediterranean Combo. No exaggeration but this was the best gnocchi I've ever had. The dish changed my view on gnocchi and I'm now a converted fan. The texture was pillow soft with a bit of spring. The magic of this dish is how simple yet delicious it is. I loved a simple dish done well. The Mediterranean combo was a special of the night and it came with prawns, branzino, fried anchovies, and a salad. The combo was also just as goods. The seasoning was yet again, simple but delicious. The prawns were succulent, fish was high quality, and the fried anchovies surprised me. I loved all the proteins. I also tried the squid ink pasta and the seafood linguini. Both were good but the squid ink pasta was unique. I can't put my finger on the flavor but I liked it. Service was incredible and the chef was kind. He came out to talk to us and explained some of the dishes. The restaurant is homey and cozy. I felt like I was in Sicily. While the food was generally good--my veal chop from the prix fixe menu was flavorful, though slightly dry--other dishes were, unfortunately, just average. What truly undermined the evening, however, was the service. Throughout the night, several guests struggled with repeatedly unfilled water glasses and had to ask multiple times for basic items. Our waitress hardly checked in until the end of the meal, with minimal follow-up during dinner. The situation escalated when, after paying, our waitress, Haley B, approached the table in a confrontational manner, questioning me directly--three separate times--about the tip, in front of the entire group. Gratuity should reflect the quality of both service and overall experience; being pressured for a higher tip despite the lack of attention was entirely out of line. To make matters worse, my follow-up call to management was equally disappointing. The response was all talk, no action. Unfortunately, the lack of professionalism left a lasting negative impression.
