I got the Viscious, sweet puppies (shareable with leftovers) and a cranberry mimosa. All of those items were on the $5 menu! This place is so tasty! They have a big variety of choices on their menu I also love the free butters and jams. The only problem is the regular sandwiches are so good you really don't need the extra butter or jams. The employees were very friendly and helpful. When I went it was not very crowded and the employees stopped what they were doing to help me get my leftover. This is one of my top favorite breakfast/brunch spots for when I don't want to wait too long and I am feeling the need to splurge a little bit (in terms of serving size and level of indulgence). I love that you can order your food at the counter and then take a seat and relax rather than be put on a waiting list for what feels like forever because you're starving and ready for breakfast. While waiting for your food, you have to check out the Jam Bar which offers a great selection of butters and jams that you can use to add even more flavor to your meal. My favorites here: fried green 'maters. shrimp and grits, the Holy City Cubano and the Fat Boy. I've tried so many different items on this menu and have been blown away at how good everything was. When you're feeling really indulgent and have plenty of people to share with, go for the beignets! There is plenty of indoor seating as well as a coveted patio. Even on the days when it seems jam-packed, everything flowed perfectly and we have never had to worry about getting a table. The staff is great and they get cleanup done quickly, all while greeting and checking on the tables frequently. Come prepared to eat a lot, as the portions are huge and when you're feeling stuffed afterward, walk it off with a visit to the nearby bookstore (B&N) or a shopping spree at Sephora. It was awesome and the lady at the counter was exceedingly helpful and smiley (even if you have to get up at 6:30 kinda nice). The picture only shows 1/2 of the vicious .. I chose the Flame Thrower (cheddar jalapeño biscuit, crispy fried chicken tossed in Frank's Red Hot, white cheddar, Skully Sauce, Vicious candied bacon, cowboy candy; note that cowboy candy is another term for candied jalapeños). Arboretum has been holding out! Just found out about this place last weekend, so I headed in for brunch. They have knife-and-fork types of biscuits...my favorite kind. They are huge, fluffy, and oh-so-buttery. There are also all kinds of spreads available such as maple bourbon butter and blueberry haberno jam. The shrimp and grits was very good. Impossibly cheesy grits and juicy perfectly sautéed shrimp. Could've used a couple more shrimp given the amount of grits but guess I'm greedy. Lol. Long story short, i was served a cold chicken sandwich after waiting for 20 minutes and only 2 other patrons in the place. One of those patrons was with me. I brought the sandwich up to the front and showed the owner, I'm guessing. The owner took the sandwich to the back and 5 minutes later came out to lecture me on the cold Franks hot sauce. I had expressed that the chicken on the sandwich was cold too. When I showed him initially, I was touching the cold chicken in front of him. Anyway, 10 minutes later and no food . I saw that they had beignets and biscuits so I had to come and give this place a try. I went on a weekday day morning it wasn't too busy. I was about third in line and the line moved at a great pace. The staff was friendly while placing my order. I ordered the fat boy. It's fried chicken pimento cheese and a spicy honey drizzle. I requested that the pimento be on the side. The sandwich was a good size I still had a few bites left over after I became full. It is also a really good sandwich. I also ordered the potatoes extra crispy. They were good. I was able to finish all of them. Lastly I ordered the beignets I didn't realize they had a filling of cinnamon cream cheese it was a little too much for me. I really enjoyed the meal for the most part I will definitely return. They have a spacious dine in area. First time at Vicious biscuit. This is a unique breakfast place. Many of their signature biscuits have something for your sweet tooth and something spicy. I went with the flame thrower and my wife got the Fat Boy which was a chicken biscuit with pimento cheese. The chicken on her biscuit was the smallest chicken beast I have seen and was over cooked and dry. She didn't like the pimento cheese either because she said it was "heavy". My biscuit was pretty good when I ate it with the potatoes. It wasn't the type of biscuit you can pick up and eat like a sandwich so I did what I could with the plastic utensils provided to cut up the biscuit and chicken for consumption. I thought mine needed something else to improve the flavors so I ate my wife's pimento cheese with my biscuit. I'm glad we tried this place but I thought it was over priced ($31.84) and average food at best. Thanks. read more

We love Vicious Biscuit and have been to this location multiple times as well as in other cities and it's always delicious. We first found it in the Charleston area and so happy they brought one to Charlotte. We used to visit this location in Arboretum when it was a previous restaurant and it has an absolutely gorgeous covered outdoor patio on the back pond- Our favorite place for sitting outside. We've tried many of their biscuit sandwiches, an omelette, a traditional breakfast, and also the kids meals and shareable sides. Everything is amazing! The biscuits are perfection and the self service jelly bar is such a great idea. There are so many things to choose from there including flavored butters and various unique jellies. My biscuit fantasies were realized at vicious biscuit. It was the last meal we had on a 2 week trip through southern cities...one in which A LOT of biscuits were consumed. (The doctors say my body is 80% biscuit now...) These were the best of the lot! I had a BYO Cheddar Jalapeño biscuit with egg whites and cheddar. This was delicious. And also, because I didn't know when I was going to be back in the south, I had a side of a buttermilk biscuit to get the true classic biscuit experience. It was GREAT! Perfectly fluffy like a biscuit should be and yummily accompanied by the maple bourbon and honey butter butters I scooped up at the jam bar. Top it all off with the coffee being fantastic too. I can't tell you how many breakfast places I've been at where the coffee was just mediocre...almost every place I went to on this trip did it right, including right here at Vicious Biscuit. Kudos also for having a gluten-free biscuit which my wife got and thought was "okay." If you're a vegetarian like me there's a lot to choose from. Not so much on the pre-set Biscuits or Plates menu (Would definitely give the vibe of being more vegetarian friendly if they did have some pre-set options.) But there is plenty on the "Not so Vicious" menu, as well as a la carte biscuits, the Build Your Own (of course), and sides as well. We ordered the Flame Thrower with an over medium egg added, the Fat Boy, and Beignets. The FT was our favorite. The addition of the egg was spot on and a must. The honey drizzle offered more sweetness than we were wanting on the Fat Boy given the pimento cheese already has a hint of sweetness in the background but nothing a few dashes of Tabasco sauce couldn't cure. The beignets reminded me more of a light fluffy biscuit with strawberry jam and a hint of cinnamon. We enjoyed all dishes tried and look forward to returning to try the grits and other breakfast sandwich creations! This was my second time coming to this brand of restaurant. One in Charleston and my first time to this location. I ordered the Silence of the Lambs biscuit, and the Beignets. The biscuit was right up my alley, I'm simple when it comes to things on a biscuit. I had pretty much a ham and egg biscuit. They also have so many different types of jams, jellies and butters for your food. The service is always great, everyone is so nice and the place is always clean. This was on my dad's list of places to visit while I was in town. We found time to go during breakfast before I flew home after New Year's. It's in the same plaza as the health shop, movie theater, Walmart, and other stores. They specialize in biscuit dishes, often served with gravy or as the bread for a sandwich. You cannot claim a table if you don't have a number. The gal who waited on us was very helpful and friendly. She answered our questions about the best sellers and was quick to check on things if she didn't have an answer off the top of her head. I ordered one of the sandwiches with egg and ham and cheese and a hot tea. My folks bought the same and ordered coffees. (Initially the coffees weren't right and she asked the kitchen to brew fresher ones for my folks.) The jam and butter bar are open - grab as much or as little as you'd like. I saved one side of my biscuit to try with the honey butter and it was delicious. The sandwich was good but a little salty. (Due to the meats) But the eggs were cooked perfectly without any browning on them. Parking was good when we went.
