Small quaint repurposed restaurant similar to Salvatore Scaloppini restaurants ( a previous affiliation) but so much better. Everything we've tried so far has been wonderful. Unfortunately Covid has changed some aspects of the restaurant and offerings, they still are favorite. The Chicken Marsala, Brianna steak and the homemade creamy Romano salad dressing are some of the reasons we go back. Desserts are awesome too. read more

I went by myself wishing I was with friends or my husband. This is a quaint Italian restaurant with great decor, great menu and super service. I started with a bread basket and Un-sweet tea the bread was fresh and oh so good with marinara. Then ordered a huge lasagna it was fantastic! Filled the plate and I ate almost all of it because it was so delicious. Bill was $16 not bad! I will be back - next time I will be sure to save room for dessert I want to try their chicken next time because that smelled and looks fabulous. read more

A little hidden treasure downriver. Dimmed Romantic atmosphere. Out of my two experiences so far the food was awesome but service not so great. Loved the restaurant's small, quaint feel. A mom and pop place where everyone knows your name, not a big chain restaurant where servers could care less. Went with the special which was eggplant Parmesan with fettuccine Alfredo. The whole meal was excellent. Finished it off with tiramisu which was equally delicious. 2.5 stars. My wife and I stopped by to have dinner at a place we hadn't been to in the area and wasn't a chain. The place was very busy and we waited about 20 minutes for our table. We ordered the mussels as an appetizer. They were hit and miss for fishiness and the sauce was way more buttery than a wine sauce should be. I had the filet marsala which was very good. Side salad was over dressed but still good. My wife got the salmon with lemon dill sauce. The salmon was so fishy it was inedible; as if the fish was old and freezer burned or something. The waitress did apologize and remove it from our bill, but it was definitely disappointing. read more

Just a great homestyle Italian restaurant. Love the bread (with marinara and dipping oil), the salad with Italian dressing, and especially the Lasagna, Huge Meatballs, and Fettuccine Alfredo! Vic's is really fabulous! It's been a staple of "darn good food" for our family for over 12 years. We love Vic, his wait staff, and Big Will does a great job keeping high standards on the food. They'll accommodate a quicker dinner with no fuss or you can shoot the breeze for a couple hours. My wife always orders the Pasta del Mar (seafood pasta) with the white sauce. I'm all over the map... I've had everything on the menu and these are homemade recipes. If you want Olive........, then go wait with your coupon over there and enjoy your microwaved TV dinners. I'm saddened to see reviews criticizing any of the staff. My family, and this includes extended family and friends, have NEVER witnessed disrespectful behavior and anything other than appreciation from those working there. This is a private establishment and they do their best to get people to return. Good luck finding that at any of the franchises. One last note.... the signature steak is an absolute delight. The recipe is dedicated to the manager's granddaughter and it's a filet. You can't touch a filet anywhere else for this price. It's excellent! Andiamo! Andiamo! Vic's! We were recommended to come here after Magdelano's and Giovanni's were both full for Valentines Day reservations. We were SO glad that we were not able to go to the other spots. Vic's was super cozy, friendly, and DELICIOUS. it was slightly crowded due to it being Valentine's and they do not take reservations. We waited about 35 minutes for a table of 2. We were waited on by Jennifer. She was excellent and very knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered a red wine and my boyfriend got a rum and coke which was generously strong. We ordered the sausage and peppers garlic bread appetizer which was AMAZING. Could've come with a little more bread but it was still great. The salads were great and we both got the Romano dressing. I ordered the chicken francese and my boyfriend ordered the pasta pollo pepperone. Both were excellent! Servings were generous. We finished with tiramisu - it was amazing. All together for 2 glasses of wine, a mixed drink, appetizer, 2 entrees (with salad) and 1 dessert we paid $65. VERY fair pricing. Would have paid MORE somewhere else. Again we had friendly service and even met "Vic" himself. We will be back Only suggestion is to have the bread basket come out warm- ours was "fridge" cold. I posted a review yesterday from a time that my husband and I went to have dinner and it was icy and snowy and had to park a block away,he has issues walking. Not to mention I also commented on the reservation how you have to make a reservation and also how we were rushed out within an hour and how I had asked the server to wait to bring out our dinner so that we can enjoy a glass of wine next thing I know my dinner is on the table and we're being pushed out the door and their response was since when is there snow and ice in May I didn't say it was in May I just said it was a visit that was not the response I expected I think it's very rude. Also I had taken my mother there back in 2020 and 21 for Mother's Day which was very nice at the time didn't need a reservation and it was a good memory for me and with Mother's Day Upon Us made me think of her and the worst dinner I ever had back in November she is now gone and this is why I am thinking of Vics. It doesn't look like much when you drive by it in Dix Rd. But I somewhat heard good things about the place and it's family-oriented. So my family and I thought we'd check it out. I had the Salmon, it was good but not great. I wish I would have ordered something else. My son ordered lobster soup and it was Amazing. My husband ordered some kind of chicken with pasta it was good too and my girls ordered macaroni cheese and they love it. The place is a bit pricey. I wish all the tables and chairs aren't so close. There's hardly space to walk between tables with the other people. Our server was great! I accidentally left my phone at home so I didn't get to take some photos. read more

We decided from the Yelp reviews to detour here for dinner. Wow the previous reviewers are correct. This place is amazing. We got there about 4:30 and there wasn't a wait. We were seated quickly and had a party of 6. All ordered pasta and salad or soup. The Caesar salad was delicious. The chicken gnocchi soup was also to die for. I had their cannelloni, talk about large portions! I had to take half of it home. Had the peanut butter pie for desert. Yummy! A couple of tips. Prepare to spend time eating and conversing. This is a small tight restaurant that can get noisy. The owner was present and a hoot to talk to. It can get a bit smoky from the grill, one of our party had to step out because it bothered her. Both times we were here we received bad service. The first time a couple of years ago, the waiter forgot to put our order in. We had a small group of people with us. It took the waiter a half hour before he realized he never put the order in. They also ran out of Minestrone soup that night too, which is a big pet peeve of mine. The food was decent. I decided to try again today. It took 10 minutes to get a drink and be acknowledged. I think they were understaffed. The food this time was great, although service...not so much. I got the Eggplant parm and Minestrone soup..my boyfriend got the ravioli. Was well worth the wait. I deducted a star for the service. Not gonna write them off just yet because the food is great. I've been here many times and have been really pleased with the food and the experience (see my original review). I have spread the word and I know several other people that now come here as well. That being said, I downgraded from a 5 to a 4 because I had a bad experience (numerous issues) a few weeks' ago when I took my sister who made a rare visit to MI from NC, expecting to give her a great experience. Vic had left for the day just as we were seated and I wasn't able to talk to him about my concerns in person so I sent a message through their website. I have not been acknowledged weeks later. I had to update this review to caution people who might be planning a special night and are thinking about going here. I will think twice in the future. read more

From the bread basket, the homemade sauces and dressings, everything has always been 10/10. They will not break your bank and the food is all fresh and made from scratch. That's the best part! Not overpriced at all and the portions are perfect. Staff is wonderful and they always have the best specials too. It has an old-school Italian, retro vibe. We got the chicken Frances which was breaded chicken in a lemon white wine sauce and spaghetti marinara. It was so delicious and portion was enough for us to share one order. This is the hidden gem of downriver for sure, right in Southgate. From the outside it doesn't look like much but once you go in and try the food you'll immediately see why this restaurant has lines out the door on the weekends!
