This is a bittersweet review. We arrived at the hostess stand and booked our outside table as we had dogs. There was nobody ahead of us and the booking system said we would be seated in 5 mins. 20 mins later we received a text but when we arrived they said it was a glitch in their new system. The hostess said there were two tables seated for an hour and two hours. We waited across the road and those guests were finished eating and just sitting there. Nobody was managing their exit. 45 mins after our arrival we were seated. It took about 10 minutes to get a menu and 30 more minutes to get our food. In total we spent 1 hour 45 mins. The hostess and waitress were very lovely. The food was absolutely fantastic. I'm sad because we had to leave savannah early due to a long drive so I felt this ate into our precious time. I would come back but only if the service was faster. read more

The piano music was awesome beautiful spot great atmosphere and the bartenders were awesome, they had great team work and it was just fun watching them. You need to go to this restaurant! We sat at the bar and the service was amazing! Even going thru a shift change we were treated amazingly. The apps, dinner and drinks were so classy and hip. Way too expensive for what it is. Food is passable but not amazing. Appetizers are ridiculously priced. I ordered the shrimp for $16 only to receive 8 measly shrimp. But it doesn't end there. Then we saw a waitress or bartender make a cocktail behind the bar and sneak a sip of it behind her back before serving it to a customer at the bar. That she crab soup was as good as any I've ever had and that's saying something. Everyone has their thing when it comes to food, mine is shrimp and grits. One of my favorite dishes and I have ate it up and down the East Coast and the south. If you like mild flavored course grits with a mild flavored sauce and mild sausage and shrimp with a touch of spice then you will really enjoy this. Food and service was excellent. We started with Low Country Mules to drink that were very tasty. This was the first time my mom, daughter and I had them since we are from New Jersey. We then had the blue crab beignets for an appetizer which were delicious. I hade the best shrimp and grits I have ever had. The sauce and the andouille sausage was so tasty and creamy with a touch of tomato. My daughter had the creole crust also very tasty. My mom had the Catfish Rachel sandwich which she said was very good and it came with fries with a sauce on the side. Service was great and we enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant. 81 years old and the worst dining experience since I left the military. Oysters on the half shell, so small that they were a joke. She-crab soup, 5 people served. It was tepid but mine was COLD. Waitress brought me a second bowl. COLD. Canceled the soup. Manager came to our table. Was very condescending and arrogant. The table had light lunches....a bowl of french onion soup, plate of the appetizer fried green tomatoes, the strawberry salad with chicken, appetizer ahi tuna. All were enjoyed immensely. Had dinner at Vics River Grill the other night.What a wonderful place! I had the beet salad, not only tasty but absolutely beautiful in presentation. I also had the crab cakes, packed full of crab and delicious seasoning. My husband had the snapper and loved it. Joleen was our waitperson and saw to it that we had everything we needed. We loved this place! Our waitress, Libby, was fantastic! We had questions about the menu and she was able to answer us enthusiastically and really went above and beyond to accommodate us. She even gave me advice about how far in advance I should get to the airport to make my flight. The mignonette that came with the oysters on the half shell was the best I'd ever had! Great location. Right on the river. Neat little place. I loved the old look to it. The small little tiles on the floor was the first thing I noticed. I love old tile. The second thing we noticed though was the amount of dust on the piano in the corner. Ick. Ordered Steak Frites and Panned Seared Grouper and a Blue Moon beer. Didn't order apps. But the waiter asked if we would like any bread for the table. I of course said yes. But then thought to ask if there was a charge for this (because I was use to bread being served but thought I better ask just in case).. I think this sparked a trigger in our waiter...like he was irritated that I even asked. He was not the greatest in terms of friendliness. I decided I didn't need the break. The meal would be enough. About 15-25 minutes after we placed our order the waiter told us our food was on the way. He told us there was a hold up in the kitchen upstairs with the steak. Said that the chefs got into a fight and the steak was being thrown at each other and dropped on the floor. What a weird thing to say. But he said it would be right out. Ok. Fine. Then like 10-15 mins later a manager came over and brought my husband another beer. Said she was sorry it was taking so long and that she wanted to offer him another beer on the house. (I order the steak. Not him. What did they offer me? Not free bread....). She said the food was on its way. 15 mins later our food arrived. Finally. The waiter asked for me to cut into the steak to make sure the temperature was ok. Omg...I couldn't even get my steak knife through it. It had such a weird texture to it. I said the temperature was fine. He walked away. I took a bite. The absolute worse steak I have ever had. Here's my thought. The steak was frozen with the grill marks on it. They had to microwave it because they didn't have any pulled out already thawed. It didn't even come out hot. The steak was at best warm, but barely. The taste was awful. There was no way I could take another bite of my frozen packaged microwaved steak. The Grouper was a bit better. The fish itself was fine. But the broth it came with was not. They offered a dessert on the house. I was not interested. I just wanted to get to the next place and eat a meal. Even if I had to go to McDonald's. We ended up at The Planters Tavern (not McDonalds). I had an app and a drink (or two...) and all was well after that. read more

This was our first time here; first time of many to come! My co-workers all love the place and now we know why. The restaurant is super clean and smells like it's well cared for. Our server, Phil, was phenomenal! Hospitality in spades! Recommendations on point! Knowledge shared in the most digestible manner. He was perfectly present and recognized that we were perfectly engaged with each other. We took him up on every recommendation and were not disappointed. (Please guide me any day) The cocktails were Be-F'ing-Yond! A special twist on classic cocktails that made them memorable with every sip. And the food? Yes Chef! Oysters were fresh and delicious! I have a pretty bad gluten allergy and my dish came out fried instead of grilled. The manager and server were so attentive and remade my order as quick as possible and also comped me a glass of wine. They were so apologetic and kind about it. Going out is a challenge and I am very used to mistakes and limited options, but this staff was so amazing and on top of it the entire time. The wedge salad had 4 bits of blue cheese, scant amount of dressing, 3 cherry tomatoes and that's it. Though we did omit the bacon. Asked for more dressing and never received it. Food was at best warm. We had the scallops and the Salmon. The serving size was somewhat small. 3 scallops with a scanty amount of risotto. The scallops were charred not seared as is desirable. Salmon was a nice sized portion. Well prepared. All in all will not return as there are numerous great restaurants to go to in this city. read more

One of my favorites from a recent girls' trip to Savannah. Great food, wonderful service!

Food was awesome! I expected bland overpriced food but was completely impressed. Even my 11 yr old son who is a very picky eater enjoyed the food. The calamari appetizer was delicious and the Shea Crab soup was the best I've had in a long time! My husband had the oyster Po'boy which he said was super fresh. There was nothing we didn't like. Would give this place negative stars if possible. Myself and daughter popped in while celebrating her 22nd birthday. Came in to get a couple apps and drinks and once we walked in the hostess just looked at us, no greeting, no how many in your party...I mean literally just looked at us. I asked could we sit at the bar if they had an available spot and she replied "yeh there are seats". Sat at the bar for 10 mins with no acknowledgment while the bartenders made eye contact with us, joked around with other patrons and even waved to one of the patron's kids that were on FaceTime, but never acknowledged us, offered menus, a napkin, anything. Finally, we got up and went to the hostess stand to get a table since we were clearly being ignored at the bar, the rude hostess responded with well we're are between shifts so it's a 30-35 minute wait ( although they only had two tables seated because they just opened...I don't know how that happens, however, way too many other amazing spots in the area than wasting your time to receive horrible treatment. Last night, we had a large party dinner reservation at VRG and it was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had! I had stopped in before for a cocktail (spicy grapefruit margarita, which was so light and refreshing) but this was the first time eating there. Nicole had set up the reservation for us a few weeks prior and she and her staff went above and beyond to make this dinner special. First of all, the restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. I loved the vibe! Bathrooms were also clean and very nice. They have put a lot of work into making this space exquisite. We sat upstairs and Nicole had made special menus for us and set the tables up with the most beautiful flower arrangements. We felt like VIPs! Our server, Kate, was incredible. She had great recommendations and handled all of our special accommodations with such a positive attitude. She was fantastic. The service we received was absolutely fabulous! Now, on to the food. I'm not a seafood eater so my girlfriend and I shared the burger and chicken dish. Both were absolutely delicious, but that burger...OMG. One of the best I've ever had! I did sample the shrimp and grits (minus the shrimp for me) off of my mother's plate and it was amazing, too! I plan to order it next time I go! Everyone at our table cleaned their plates! The mussels, shrimp scampi, strawberry goat cheese salad, and wedge salads were big hits! I'm literally counting down the days until I can go back! My family was turned away tonight. Spoke to someone at 4 pm who recommended we come by at 5 pm, when they open. We returned a few minutes before 5 and were told they could only seat a party of 5. We had a party of 5 with a newborn. I said that my child doesn't need a seat. We were basically told it was bc we had children with us. Awful customer service.
