Well, so it has been years and years since my hubby played this course. It USED to be beautiful, and now, he says NEVER again. You can actually ruin your clubs if you are not careful. On the first hole, his ball disappeared. ACTUALLY DISAPPEARED, he drove around and around and his buddy finally found it in a GOPHER/SQUIRREL hole. The tee is ok, but the fairways had HUNDRED OF RABBITS !!! WITH POOP all around. I know it is hard to keep a course nice, but geez, it was the worse course he has ever played at. Never again. Should have gone to Alondra Sorry about the bad review, but you gotta call what you see. read more

If you get a good deal on GolfNow or one of those other websites this course might be worth playing. But at their $49 rate I would never play here again. When we arrived a transformer had supposedly gone down and the power to the entire golf course was shut down. So they couldn't take credit cards in the pro shop or in the snack bar. Not that it would've made a difference because they had no electricity to cook anyway. Pace of play was decent and for $20 the course was in decent shape. Not great shape, not good shape, but decent shape. So my recommendation is to play here, but not for a penny over $25. read more

I'll admit it, this used to be my home course. Victoria is like Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer or Tecate. When I'm broke and I need to get my alcohol fix in, I'll drive by the nearest 7-11 and pickup the cheapest beer I can find. I throw it down, get my buzz and I'm satisfied. That is what Victoria Golf Course is for me. I'm running out of money, and I'm frustrated and all I want to do is take out my frustrations on a Titleist Pro V1 golf ball. So late in the afternoon, I'll pay $11 (the super twilight rate) and play a quick nine or more. Once I finished my round, I had my golf fill...I'm happy and ready to take on the real world. Victoria is a nice cheap course to play. There's nothing really special about, except for the nice Par 5's, really long Par 4's and the one drivable Par 4. It's not maintained well and after a rainstorm, there are some lakes left behind on the course. Golf rules say that those giant puddles is casual water and you can take a free drop no nearer the hole. I'll tell you what, if this course was maintained really well and had more money put into it...it could be an awesome course. Seriously. It gets crowded most of the day and on the weekends, they put out fivesomes. So a lot like Los Verdes, expect 6 hour rounds. Last, in the afternoons, there are prevailing winds, and they can be deadly. So be warned, take extra club in the late afternoons. So when in the South Bay and you want to get your golf on. Take the Avalon exit on the 405 and drive a mile north and you'll see the Victoria Golf Course after Del Amo Blvd. read more

If I could this course negative stars then I would. $44 to play on a dirt field with gopher holes and rocks in the bunkers. The only positive were the greens, they were soft and very well kept. It was my first time here over the weekend and I thought the condition of this golf course was terrible. Plus, the staff at the pro shop was the worst I've come across with. He kept putting in the wrong amount on my credit card despite having the green fees displayed on the counter. I told him a few times to correct the charges. The first time he made the corrections and I noticed it was still wrong, he told me he'll just give me a good deal on range balls when I return. Ridiculous! Then I asked, "is this how it works here?" So he made the changes again to the charges, after the changes it was still wrong! There was a small error in the amount in the 3rd receipt but I just let it go, very frustrating! I don't really know if he was just not paying attention to his job or if this is was it really how it works in this place. Bottom line, I won't recommend this place and will not return to play here. read more

Despicable cash grab from this course. $40 to play on literal dirt fairways FILLED with gopher holes. I know some will say "it can't be literal dirt fairways....", and to them I say "LITERALLY DIRT FAIRWAYS ALL 18 HOLES!!!! The absolute worst course in Southern California, maybe the entire state. It would not be worth the money for $5 let alone 40. They should be ashamed that they are ripping their customers off. The grass is all dead and super long in the driving range. Pro shop employees are a hit and miss here. Some are polite and some are straight up rude. Links at Victoria is probably the worst kept course I've ever played. The fairways are simply awful. $51 for a round with a cart is way more than they should be charging for such a bad golfing experience. Play was very fast... Golf course is really neglected. Day started out at the driving range. Got a small bucket of balls. The mats were all old and beat up, just like the balls. Range balls were so old, the black or red stripes normally used to designate a range ball was no longer visible on most. I think most of the balls were no longer round. Pace of play was quick for our tournament today, because this golf course is a ghost town. Greens were the only decent part of the course. The fairways were in the worst condition I've ever seen at any course in my life. There was more dirt than grass, even straight down the middle of the fairway. Lots of squirrels and gopher like creatures on the course. They may be the reason this place is barren. They probably have a network of tunnels, a la Caddyshack, that has ruined the grass and affected drainage. Greens - average... not much break on any of the putts. Fairways - in horrible shape - grass can be found on the sides of the fairway in small patches Course layout - has some character - very mild elevation changes Water holes - none Driving range - average The course - 1.0 stars I seriously would not play here even if it only cost $10. This place is my home course. I usually play the back 9 on Sunday mornings. I love walking on and being matched up with single walk-on's. So far, everyone I've played with have been cool. Today, my friend and I played in the first group at 3pm to beat the predicted rains today. Victoria GC is a local community course, and for $17 (weekday twilight prices), $25 weekdays, $33 weekends, its not bad. The fairways at some holes are okay and some not. Still, it has some challenges with the fairway bunkers, hazards or the undulating greens. I've played on some $50 courses, $80 courses and $120 course, but to play a quick game after work for $17, you can't beat it. The food at the Cafe is not bad for what it is. Coffee and Donuts in the morning. They also offer Sandwiches, Burgers, Hot dogs, Cigars, Candy, Sodas, Gatorade, and Beers (For you Yelpers). They also have a couple of TV's to watch the current golf game. I wish I could give another half star, because its not quite five full stars. read more

First time playing here today and have to say for the price it was Awesome. Other than the fairways being pretty horrible I had a blast. Joe in the Pro shop was Awesome and a Gentleman. Every golfer has a course that means a little something extra to him/her: this one is mine. I learned how to play golf here when my grandpa started bringing me along when I was only 4 years old. I have seen this course go through the best of times and go through the worst of times. In the recent years this course has gone through some of the worst of its times. Needless to say many who played this course during then never came back due to the poor conditions of the fairways. However, due to a recent renovation project the course once again has grass back in the fairways! I give the course 4 stars because of the following: 1. Greens. Quite easily these are some of the best greens in the area on a public course. As with anywhere, greens have good days and bad days, but these puppies have been through the fire yet still look gorgeous. 2. Design and layout. A Billy Bell course from the sixies makes this course related to the likes of Torrey Pines. Wide open fairways are pitted with fairway and greenside bunkers bound to invite your ball in for a beach party a number of times throughout your round. In addition, certain holes with considerable length, combined with an on shore breeze, prove to be formidable adversaries. 3. Staff I at one point called myself a member of the staff here, and know how patient these remarkable individuals are to have to deal with all the things that they have had to over the years. Now that the course is looking up and up, I commend them for sticking it out. If you find yourself in the shop on a weekday afternoon, be sure to drop in and say hi to good old Joe and talk a little Jazz with him. You're most certain to usually find smiles on people's faces. If you don't, it's probably because you're the one who wiped it off. I do feel that some serious work needs to go into the range. And not necessarily the range itself, but the equipment. They are set up for night practice but they never use it, and their range balls definitely need an update. I prefer more than 6 dimples on my golf balls. If you've played here when the course was at its worst, I don't blame you for not wanting to come back. Had I not been attached to this course like I was, I probably would not come back either. But I call upon your sense of duty to the game of golf to give this course another shot. It will blow your mind how much has changed since you last played the Links at Victoria. I have mixed feelings about this place. The range: First, it is a grass range so that a positive. It's good to practice the way you play and no golf course is all range mats. However, the grass is hit or miss. Sometimes if its full and you can't pick a spot, you end up hitting off patches of chunked turf spots. The range balls were the absolute worst, but they did get a new batch of range balls so that helps. They also have a players club which is $49 per month and you get a $100 range card. You must be in it for 3 months and walk in to cancel. There are other small rules which they can explain to you, but its a decent deal if you practice a lot. The short game area is small and packed usually, so not that great. Sand area is just plain weird so...pass. Putting is decent, greens are ok. The course: I remember when it was really bad, then they did it over and it was pretty respectable and honestly now, its just dog crap. Some fairways are half dirt. The greens are not that bad but the fairways and rough are just in bad shape. It could be a decent track, and I found it to be difficult because its always windy but I don't really come here to play anymore. read more

I've been reading some of the reviews and comments about Victoria Links and I have to admit, I agree with both positive and negative. First, the negative. The fairways are bare and result in thin lies. Having said that, I hit so few fairways that it's kinda irrelevant if there's grass or not. (I actually had some pretty good surface to hit from). I don't use the driving range so the lack of one doesn't bother me. The positive. The cost is very reasonable. Here's the caveat. You lower the greens fees, you get lower quality (slower) players. The comments about slow play have to be taken with the grain of salt. (Or sand) If you are a good player, go find another course. This holds true EVERYWHERE I've played. You want bargain prices? Expect slower play. High handicappers aren't going to play Trump when they can get 4 rounds in somewhere else. OK. Enough soap box. Go play this course. Take along patience, beer and a sandwich. It's still a pretty good course. read more

Absolutely the most slimiest, grimiest, dirt bag course I have ever played. I went last week with a few friends I have been meaning to golf with. Let me just say to golf on a concrete street would be much better than playing here. To give up golfing would be a much better choice than to play here. I thought when you hit a good drive your ball should land on a nice fairway with grass but not here. Hitting a good drive was never rewarding as our balls would land on a desolate fairway no grass and rock hard dirt. I can't believe how this place can even be open or how anyone can even think of playing there. And they have the nerve to charge you $40.00!!!!!!!!!!! This is a course for local players. I went to Victoria because I heard they had a grass driving range and I wanted to test some new lumber. As I walked in, I met an employee in the parking lot who was very polite and helpful. I always appreciate good service. The course on the other hand looked dry and burnt. I only saw it from the range and club house but I chose not to play based on the initial appearance. Plus, if I read it correctly, the course costs $40 to play and I could get on Los Verdes for that. The range was okay. I would have enjoyed some shade but the grass was well kept. It was worth about 2 stars and I would travel to play here. But it's perfect for local players. read more

Just played this course. I had to pick someone up from LAX and needed to kill some time. I had read bad things about this place but it was close to the airport so it was convenient. Overall not too bad. They have a nice practice facility with large putting greens and a chipping green. As mentioned the course isn't in perfect shape but I've played worse. It looks like they are making an effort and doing some work. The fairways are a patchwork of different lengths and color grass with patches of dirt in some areas. I'd say 70% grass and 30% dirt. In my round I didn't really have any bad lies and the course was quite playable. The tee boxes and greens were in good shape. The turf around the greens was in good shape. I'd say if you spray your ball all over the place you'll find some poor conditions. If you keep your ball in play the course is very enjoyable. If I was local I'd play here all the time. It's a good value and it has great potential if they ever complete their renovations. read more

This is hands down, unquestionably, the worst golf course in the United States (that's still operational). It's in terrible condition, the greens are decent but trying to play a second shot from dirt with hardly any grass to be seen makes for a frustrating round. This place gets a bad rap. Yes, the fairways are bare, but the greens and tee boxes are as good as any around. I play this course regularly and the pace of play is much better than any course around, usually play in 4 hours or less on a Saturday mornings We play liberal rules in the fairways, which means bump the ball to grass when needed, not a big deal. The layout is good and friendly and the staff is great. Give it a try. read more

I understand people are stressed, but I go to the course to de-stress. Play a nice round even though the course needs work. Regardless when I see people being rude and obnoxious to the young man trying to help them from the pro shop. It is so wrong. He is doing his job and not being rude back. While it is true that the fairways at The Links leave a lot to be desired, the greens are immaculate, as are the tee boxes, and with a slope of 123, the track is challenging enough to hold interest. Regarding the bare, hard pan fairways, we play preferred lies from the fairway, and play it as it lies outside of the fairway (which is usually where there is actually good grass). The attraction here, is that this track is a lot of bang for the buck. You get to play, and ride, for cheap. I love the design of this course. The hills that separate the fairways always gives me a feeling as though our group is the only one out there, because you never have to see anyone, except when they're walking off the green. The track is under complete renovation, which is a blessing and a curse, because once renovations are complete, it will be a fantastic golf course, but will probably quickly become a crowded favorite. I consider this golf course to be a hidden gem about to be rediscovered. read more

Stay away.Worst condition fairways I have ever played. They even gave us a discount of $38. HA! When we got to the course we were informed that a water main had broken and flooded the hole area around the office and restaurant and that there was no food available and if you wanted to go to the bathroom you should use the one on the 6th hole. I should have just dropped trousers right there to improve the condition of that course. I understand that there is methane killing the grass but at least roll the fairways and fill the gopher holes. You could break an ankle if you don't watch your step. The only good thing were the greens. Very sad that they have let this course die. read more
