I recently stopped by Video Only because I have yet to stop by in the 3+ years I have driven by it. I was not intending to buy a new TV as I have been pretty happy with my 2019 LG C9 OLED. I met Matt inside and told him what I have and that I was just browsing. I went to look at the latest LG OLEDs and he walked me through the new changes that I was unaware of in some of the recent LG OLEDs. I had been disinterested in LG OLED models because the improvements have been extremely minor until these newer panels. So not only was Matt deeply educated, but he also showed me the current deals they had going and it was roughly $700 dollars less than the same model on Amazon. I was also offered free shipping and installation on its stand and a 5 years warranty, including burn-in. It was an amazing deal and put the price of the 77" TV within $300 of the original purchase price of my smaller 65". I let him know I would think about it and took his card. I did additional research online and compared prices to confirm the size of the deal. A few hours later I called him back, and we had a deal after only a few minutes. He was kind, reasonable and respectful. This was one of the best brick and mortar experiences I have ever had. Great service, gentle selling, actually knowledgeable staff, and a truly best deal (I compared Amazon with my % back, Costco with my % back, and B&H). This hotel was historic, beautifully restored, and details were important to whomever did the restoration! The staff were excellent! Kind, helpful, professional, and we loved staying here. I have now purchased from Video Only in Clackamas and thought it was time to leave some feedback. First time I visited them was when I was looking for a new TV. After checking around various stores and online, we ended up purchasing the OLED TV at Video Only. Their prices were much lower than the brick & mortar, big box stores and even lower than online sites. In addition to the price, the service was great (thanks Jeff), and we enjoyed the shopping experience as they had a very large selection of TVs to choose from. We then decided it would be good to have a soundbar to go with the TV. Again, we checked online sites and a couple of local stores before going to Video Only. I had another very positive TV buying experience at this Video Only location. I've bought a few TVs from this spot over the past few years. Jason, the manager, assisted me with my TV buying experience over the last few months, much of which over the phone. He answered my questions and was very down-to-earth to work with. I am very particular about picture quality and know TVs well, and I'm full aware that I am a bit high needs, but Jason was always reassuring while being cool, calm and collected, and I never felt like I was an inconvenience, or pressured to do X, Y, or Z. I was welcomed in the store to check TV settings to compare some of the TVs. I first decided on the S90C OLED, but after a few weeks, I returned it without a hitch for an LG, and Jason was a class act the whole way through. I also got a good deal on an extended warranty. Jason gave me a better price than Costco, Amazon and Best Buy for my new LG C3 OLED TV. It feels like we've finally joined the modern age. Long known for being late adopters of technology, I was amazed when Mr. K agreed it was time to get a nice flat screen TV rather than wait for the 15 year old behemoth in our family room to finally die. As is the case with all of our 'major purchases,' this took a bit of research. Consumer Reports, talking to friends, on-line reviews and visiting several major retailers to check out different models and sale pricing. Our biggest decision was between Plasma and LCD and of course the space limitations of our room. After a thorough review, we ended up purchasing our new TV here. I had the same salesperson on both visits and he ended up being great. In comparison, I almost always leave Fry's feeling slightly creeped out. I didn't feel overly pressured on either visit and once we decided what we wanted, the entire transaction including loading the TV into our car was very quick. The price couldn't be beat. I can't wait for all the bowl games to begin. Watching football in HD is pretty awesome. read more

I just bought a 65" samsung and soundbar from Chuck. My experience with him was excellent. It takes me a very long time to make a purchase, I try and become an expert on anything before I swipe my card. These guys really know what they are talking about and seem to be pretty passionate about it too. Chuck was not pushy, perfect amount of casual and professional and had the answers to all my questions right away. When I started looking at soundbars he even kept saying "you can try it without soundbar first to see if you even need it". Very impressive interaction, even to the point where I asked him if he was even commission. Their annoying commercials aren't lying, they really were a few HUNDRED dollars cheaper than Best Buy, Frys, and Costco. AND I bought it more informed than before. Every time I go in Video Only I'm glad I did. I usually end up getting a better item for less than I planned for. The customer service is amazing (ZERO UPSELL!) and the product knowledge is much better than you'll get anywhere. I was replacing a broken TV and was planning on getting the budget OLED, but because I was "trading in" my broken set I ended up getting the higher end LG OLED C3 for less than I was planning to pay for the A1. Jason knows his stuff and he was able to get me in and out in 30 min since I was on a time crunch. The radio ads are right...don't buy until you go here. Video Only sold me a good set for a good price with a good warranty. The salespeople didn't bullshit me about the set, features, required wiring, or anything else. They didn't try to up-sell me (in fact, the salesperson got me into a model that fit my needs better and cost less). They shot straight, and got my business. I was on the hunt for a flat screen TV. Having waited for years for the prices to get reasonable and the technology to advance, I finally settled on what I thought was the best option for me, an LED LCD. After price-comparing all over online and at local stores, I went to a couple of big boxes and found that the prices were no better than online, and many had different model numbers and feature sets. That's when I called up Video Only to price-compare. What I found was a guy who gave me straight answers. I played dumb and asked questions I knew the answers to, and I got them. I then got some more info that I wasn't bargaining for - advice that saved me a bunch of cash and got me in to a better TV. Sounds like a pitch and switch, right? Well, I took the info he gave me, went home, researched it online, and it was all legit. He was basically getting me in to a top-of-the-line plasma with great features for $150 less than Amazon could get it for me. Sold. But the real clincher is the HDMI cables. I know that they're digital signal, and I know that all you need is a basic certified cable. Anything more is simply a waste, and anyone who tries to sell you something more is ripping you off. These guys were 100% straight with me on the cabling. That's the highest-margin item for them. I'll definitely do business again. read more

I was prepared to make a 2,400$ purchase (not including the accessories I would have purchased after obtaining the T.V.s) and spoke to an easy going salesman whose name escapes me (I'll update this review with his name) at the moment. However, when the salesman introduced Orlando Warren, everything went down hill. Mr. Warren treated me like a second class citizen to say the very least. He also persisted in pushing for a credit option after telling him I was unable to purchase the 2 televisions on the spot; I let them know I would have the cash within two days. Orlando kept saying they would hold on to the sets, but if someone else came in and wanted to purchase them they would be sold regardless of my down payment on the televisions. Update: After coming in the very next day, and informing Warren the money wouldn't be available for another 18 hours he happily told me he had sold the televisions to someone else. After hearing the news I asked for my deposit, and he rudely responded by saying " you're just gonna have'ta wait 30 days before we give you your money back." The irony is there was more than enough cash in their tills to reimburse me 13 times over. The very fact that a person like Orlando works with people is baffling. He comes across as an angry misanthrope who hates his job. Update: I ended up driving to Video Only's Beaverton location, and purchased a 52' inch flat screen. Unfortunately, the set blew out two years later, and now I'm out a television, and 1,200$ The lesson here folks is if you are dead set on buying a new television, go to Fred Meyers and pick up any one of their sets. Fred's customer service is always on par whereas VO customer service is bipolar, Fred's tech is more affordable whereas VO tech is vastly overpriced for the quality, and Fred Meyer sets live far longer than two years whereas VO sets seem to die right on the two-year mark. read more

Our family room big screen went out and we went to go get a new either LCD 120 mhz or a Plasma 50/52" so after going on line, then to Costco we decided to go to Video Only! The salesman tried to give us the normal sales pitch but I informed him we were looking for only a couple of models that interested us! He then began to insult MY intelligence as he was going to tell us why they were the best out there! I mentioned that we ALREADY knew what we were going to be buying....I asked him for the best price on each and he began this speech about buying now, not later tonight, are you shopping anywhere else bla bla bla...I repeated: Give me your best price and I am buying! Then the piece of work starts to write down info for him to go see his BOSS for the best price! As we were walking out the door of the entirely empty store he came down $70.00....What a waste of time and cheesy salesmen! Oregon loves anything that isn't main stream or run by "the man." Oregonians are probably the only people I know who will pay more just to support the little guy and damn corporate America. Luckily with Video Only they don't have to. The service here is just as good as any mom and pop store but the prices are better than you will find in any of the bigger chains. Every time I need to help my family get something new or update to the 21st Century (they were still rockin the VHS) I take them here. You should too, you won't regret it. When I compare prices for home audio equipment, Video Only beats the competition every time. Its lowest prices have made me a longtime customer but its superior service has also turned me into a raving fan. Yesterday when the two nice delivery guys could not complete hooking up my new tv to my complex sound system, Chuck, the sales manager, came to my house after his long day of work to personally complete the job. He would not quit until he figured it out. I was floored. I'm 65 years old and had never received such a high level of service before. College basketball makes March a magical time of year for me and 2010 was no exception. My Duke Blue Devils were on fire, and on a fine Sunday afternoon, I was anxiously awaiting the NCAA tournament selection show. I just had to survive the last few minutes of the Big 10 championship game. And then it happened. A huge, black vertical stripe down center of my 4-year-old plasma. Surely this must be just a little hiccup. Let's just turn it off and let the TV reset itself. No problem, right? Wrong. Two hours of internet searches (the most promising of which was a youtube video of a guy beating his plasma with a plastic wiffleball bat) later, I was no closer to the solution. TV repair quotes were up to half of the set's value with no guarantee of a fix. Weeks of sporadic home-TV-repairman hi-jinks ensued until I realized that it was time to pull the plug... literally... for good this time... seriously. After years of hearing the ads, I decided to give Video Only a shot. I did my homework on the models available and came home with a 50" Panisonic plasma at a price that beat Best Buy and rivaled Amazon. I loved the set for the first few weeks until I lost a line of pixels in the middle of the screen (different TV manufacturer, but eerily familiar defect). Video Only has a great return policy that allows you to return the set for pretty much any reason in the first 30 days. The only reason that I'm not giving up 5 stars on this review is that, when I tried to return the set, I was not able to immediately reach the salesman I had dealt with during the purchase, Matt. The guy I talked to tried to give me some runaround about how I needed to contact such-and-such TV repair company instead of just swapping out the set in-store. I called again 15 minutes later and was able to talk to Matt. He had me come to the store that afternoon to get my replacement. He was really friendly about the whole thing, bringing a hand truck to my vehicle so I wouldn't have to carry the set in myself. One last thing to note about this Video Only location. Getting to their driveways is a traffic disaster. You either have to be going east on Harmony/Sunnyside or north on 213/82nd. It's a bit of a pain in the rear, so I thought I would share that knowledge and save you a few minutes of frustration at that busy intersection. read more

I have been a loyal video only customer for decades. 4 TVs, 1 receiver, and 2 camcorders. Almost 2 weeks ago, I purchased a big screen Sony from them. Was comparing between a Samsung and this Sony. The salesman told me the Sony was better quality. I asked if it was going on sale soon since it was last years model. He said he didn't know but if it did they would give me the difference within 30 days. Got home with the purchase and saw that RTINGS says the Samsung is better quality. OK, maybe just the salesman opinion. Then I see Video Only has cut the price a hundred bucks, so I call to see about getting the difference as promised. Oh no, it's considered clearance and no way are they giving this one time long time customer. Oh well. All good things come to an end. Not the same customer support they had years ago. Spontaneous big ticket item buying does not come naturally to me. I like to research, check prices, comparison shop. But yesterday, with the heat, with our crappy small TV Olympic viewage, with the marginal Wii clarity/precision, we broke down. Broke down hard. Broke down to the tune of 37" LCD Panasonic Viera. And it's beautiful. First we were at Sears getting tools or some such, and I wandered past the lustful Dyson's and into electronics. We'd been talking about a new TV. Look around, meh. Very expensive. Why not try Video Only? (I said, 'Cause if we don't, we'll be sorrrryyyyy")... Our saleman, Jeff, was attentive. He hung around just enough to give us the dish, but knew when to back off so we didn't feel pushed. He showed us the Consumer Reports article that listed our preferred set as the top rated TV for it's size. 1080dpi don't you know. And $200 rebate to boot. He told us to get to Comcast to get the silver box instead of the black, then we'd be rocking the HD into the closing ceremonies. We did it. The only drawback is that yesterday was the last day of the sale, and this Video Only was out of stock. So Jeff knocked off $25 more and we drove to Beavertron to pick it up. Jeff even called to make sure things were OK and he answered more questions we came up with. And it's glorious. Even in SD the Olympics are bright and beautiful. Wii play is fucking coooooool. Three stars because it is neither a great nor terrible place to shop. It is a no frills store that sells "Video Only". The shelves are old and basic and the whole place needs an update. But I didn't stop there to buy decorating ideas, I wanted a good price on a good tv. The salesmen are a toss up. I have bought several items here and usually get very good salespeople, but I have gotten a couple that were over-aggressive or condescending if you didn't know everything about every brand you were looking at. Those things being said, I can almost always count on getting one of the lowest prices here. They found me a power cord for the type of tv and plug in I had and it works great. They didn't charge me anything or pressure me to buy something. I usually avoid salespeople at other stores but when I walked in here and started talking to Cyle it was apparent that this was a different environment. He was actually knowledgeable about the products that they were selling and even gave us a quick demo of their showroom system. Our family bought a tv here a few years ago and we're having some problems with the remote control so we stopped by to ask what they can do and to also see their selection of blu rays. The same salesman that sold us our tv, Jason, was there and showed us the blu rays. There wasn't much selection and he said we should come back in a few weeks when a bunch of new models come in. I mentioned that our tv's remote sensor seems to be broke and he gave us a number for a good repair man. Then, off handedly, I mentioned that we had lost the remote for the blu ray we already owned. He thought for a second, then said they had a bunch of sony remotes in the back that are of no use and one of them would probably work! He gave it to us, and we we're on our way. Went in to buy the 55" LG OLED., wound up buying a 55" SONY OLED, substantial upgrade. But it's obvious this is the standard they need to strive for.
