Tucker, the manager, was more than accommodating to our crew. We came in from New York, and when I say he went above and beyond, he truly did. We were extremely grateful. He made sure we were seated in an area where we could get the maximum amount of air conditioning, as it was a little warm inside, but still very lovely overall. Kennady, the bartender, was wonderful from the moment I arrived for the reservation. Even though I had dined there many times before, she still took the time to go over the menu thoroughly. This was not previously my favorite location, but it quickly became my new favorite because of the level of service we received. Lexi (Alexa), our server, was awesome quick, sincere, and friendly. The food came out perfectly, and everyone truly enjoyed everything. We absolutely enjoyed both the food and the downstairs service. However, when we decided to experience the rooftop area, the experience unfortunately declined. The servers upstairs refused to serve us directly and made two members of our party go downstairs just to place a drink order. Additionally, when we asked for the restaurant's plastic blinds to be closed to keep us from getting soaked by the rain, there was hesitation, and we were told it would become too hot. While we understood the concern, our request was simply to avoid getting wet from the rain. I was able to get a spot right outside and noted the payment is required after 6pm. Going in, you have the option of inside, patio, and rooftop. There's plenty of seating to go around and this place is great for larger groups. Came here for happy hour and the Taco Tuesday special (2 tacos and a shot of tequila for 8 dollars). The happy hour menu is available on their website and has a good amount of items. Happy hour is half off select apps. The Cameron en Agua Chile was our favorite and it has a nice kick of spicy to it. The empanadas were passable, but probably would not get these again. The queso in molcauete bowl was quite tasty. The Tuesday special were street tacos. These are good portions have have a decent amount of meat in them. The meat isnt super juicy, but it's not dry either. Definitely add some salsa though. The tequila shot was decent. We also got the $6 Vidorrita, which was pretty yummy margarita. I liked this spot and would definitely come back. The rooftop is a nice vibe, and the patio also looked chill. First off, let me start by saying the 4 stars they are receiving instead of the 2 I initially was going to leave is solely due to the manager on duty. I believe his name was Allen. He alone saved this establishment with his attention to detail, understanding and patience, as well as his professionalism and issue resolution. Especially considering I can have quite the temper when pushed. My boyfriend and I walked in at 10:05 and were promptly seated. 10:25 rolls around and I proceed to walk to the host stand to make it known we have not been even spoken to. While explaining the issues, the hostess at the front then cuts me off and darts off to the back to find someone. 10:30 is when our server finally comes over. Now, as someone that was in the industry for quite some time, I understand the frustration of getting a table during the last hour. Regardless, you push that aside, or complain in the back, but you still take care of the guests. While her attitude may have been anticipated, I had already been waiting 30 minutes for service and was clearly frustrated. In that moment, a more understanding and professional response would have been appropriate. And the icing on the cake-- the margaritas that we ordered, came out wrong... The manager, Allen, dropped our food off so I explained my extreme frustrations and he went above and beyond for us. Although it was not expected, it was very much appreciated. Again, I was in the industry for over a decade so believe me when I say, I completely understand the emotions that come with anyone walking in at the last minute. Even so, I have been in the shoes of not wanting anyone to walk in even an hour before closing. That does not excuse a 30 minute greet. I say all this to say, as service industry workers, we forget one of the most simple details regarding majority of guests-- most people just want to come in and eat after a long day then get out of your hair. If we would have been greeted timely, we could have been gone well before closing. Because of my time in the industry, I am normally fairly patient when dining out. I understand there can be a list of reasons why a greet would take longer than expected. But in an empty restaurant, there should have been no reason I watched a couple get sat after us and be greeted well within 5 minutes. I wish I could say this was my first negative experience at this location, but unfortunately it was not. I hope they can get back to the Vidorra I knew years ago. TL;DR - the vibe is emasculate and the barrel nachos are as good as they look. We came here for lunch on a Thursday, so naturally there was no wait. We were hoping to sit up on the roof, but they don't open it until 4pm (understandable). We opted for the outside(ish) area and it was beautiful, I also love that we sat on a couch.
