Great place! Parking can be a little tight but there's a city pay lot next door that costs as much as the $6 valet if you're there for any length of time. So keep that in mind. Recently went for lunch. Started with a Mexican lager and shrimp ceviche (be sure to ask for the house hot sauce, it's fire)... The beer was crisp and refreshing... The ceviche was fresh! Plenty of chips and avocado came with it. For the entree, my cousin got the fish tacos with a side salad... He said it was great. I had the coconut curry chicken sandwich. I will highly recommend this. Big piece of chicken fried in the curry batter. Very good. It came with a side salad and a lemon vinaigrette... Great service, amazing views of the lagoon in Del Mar... I've been several times and will be back soon.

Viewpoint Brewing Company is a spacious brewery and restaurant in Del Mar with great views, strong food portions, and a relaxed, upscale-casual vibe. Pros: This place is a really solid all-around dining and brewery experience. The food was genuinely impressive, both in quality and portion size. I started with the shrimp ceviche, which was creamy, well-seasoned, and a great portion for a starter. For the main, I got the mushroom burger, which was huge, juicy, and had really good-quality meat. I also upgraded to the truffle fries for $3, and that was definitely worth it--crispy, flavorful, and a great side to pair with the burger. The beer selection was also strong with a lot of variety since it's a brewery, and the samples made it easy to try different options before committing. The overall space is large, open, and really well-designed, with a nice view of the area and a fireplace that adds to the atmosphere, especially in the evening. Service was also great--friendly staff and quick seating even with a reservation at 7:00pm. Cons: Parking is the main downside. It's $6 valet per car, which is honestly the easiest option. Otherwise, you're looking at street parking or an Uber, but the walk from street parking can be a bit far and inconvenient. Verdict: Really great spot in Del Mar if you want good food, good beer, and a nice atmosphere. The portions are big, the quality is solid, and the experience overall is very smooth. I'd definitely come back, especially for a relaxed dinner or drinks with a view.

Farmer's Market Salad & House Fries

Nice brewery and restaurant in Del Mar that opens out to the lagoon. It was pretty busy on a Saturday afternoon, so make a reservation online instead of just walking in. The farmers market salad was super fresh and definitely big enough to share between 2 people. Very nice wait staff. Food and drinks came out within 10 minutes of ordering. $127 for 3 meals and a couple drinks + parking via valet or paid lot nearby.

If you're looking for a brewery with serious coastal vibes, Viewpoint Brewing in Del Mar is a must-visit. The space is huge, open, and modern, with a really relaxed indoor/outdoor setup that makes it perfect for sunny San Diego afternoons. The highlight here is definitely the atmosphere, you get beautiful views of the San Dieguito Lagoon, lots of natural light, and a breezy, social vibe that works for everything from brunch to happy hour. It's also super dog-friendly, which makes it even better if you're hanging out after a beach day. Beer-wise, they've got a solid rotating tap list with a mix of easy-drinking lagers, IPAs, and some more creative house brews. A flight is a great way to explore since there's usually something for everyone. The food is surprisingly good for a brewery too, think elevated pub food like burgers, fried chicken sandwiches, truffle fries, and brunch options. Service is generally friendly and laid-back, though it can get busy on weekends, so expect a bit of a wait or consider a reservation. Overall: great spot for views, vibes, and casual food + drinks. Not the most "craft beer nerd" focused brewery in San Diego, but absolutely one of the best for hanging out and enjoying the scenery. Would I go back? 100%, especially for a sunset drink or weekend brunch. https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8gDDj3H/

Chicken Adobada Chilaquiles (sour cream & eggs on the side)

Cool spot, great views, and friendly staff. The product itself wasn't my favorite, though. Decent place to try at least once. 1. Parking is paid. There's a dirt lot or valet. Valet is $6 before tip. There are a few free spots near the hiking trail if you're lucky. 2. Myself and many other guests experienced dirty glasses (lipstick marks). Server said they've been troubleshooting improving it so I hope they figure it out soon. 3. Servers all work together to split sections. Ironically, it made it kinda difficult to track things though, since 3 different people might give you 1 update each, but I'd rather have a 1 progressive update on missing items (compared to 3 different people checking from square 1). 4. They were super sweet and apologetic for the delays. Very busy since it was Easter so gotta factor that in. Comped one of our food items and offered dessert. 3 to 4 stars out of 5.

Grilled fish tacos

Not locals to the area but had some time to kill and decided to stop in. The brewery has ample seating indoors and outdoors and its nice to sit outdoors if the weather is fair. There's a nice view of the lagoon and trail if you choose to sit outdoors. It is about a 10min walk to the bridge. Its dog friendly! I noticed several water bowls throughout the property. Parking was tight. It was a week day, middle of the day so I can't imagine how parking is on the weekends. Just as we were leaving, we saw signs for valet parking at $6, perhaps this goes into effect at 4pm and onwards ? The food is underwhelming. I ordered the grilled fish tacos. There simply is not enough fish in the taco. I requested more avocado crema and put both the orange house made salsa and additional avocado cream to my tacos. The ceviche is not prepared traditionally and had an ailoi. There was also not much seafood in the dish. The chips that came with the ceviche didn't taste fresh. They were not warm, no signs of grease and were actually kinda hard. Lastly, my friend ordered a caesar salad. It was odd to see kale in the salad and according to him, the whole salad tasted off. He felt it was prepared with a different type of dressing. I didn't try it. Long story short, come for the brews and the view, the food, not so much. Service was great.

We stopped by Viewpoint Brewing Co. without a reservation and were seated right away at one of their communal tables. The shared seating and beautiful views made for the perfect setting. there's nothing better than enjoying a fun evening with friends while meeting new ones along the way. The service was excellent: friendly, attentive, and quick. We enjoyed a glass of wine from their well-curated selection and were especially happy to find a Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley. The flatbread was warm and soft, and the mac and cheese was rich and wonderfully creamy. Overall, a great spot for good food, good drinks, and great company. Parking is a pain--$20 bucks at the lot. Or $6 valet.

The places got some nice seating and views and I don't drink beer so there's no review on that. There's some TVs with sports going, but the real negativity is the food. I did not like the farmers burger and chose the salad over the fries with just plain lettuce.. The burger was hard to eat. I tried to cut through. It could not do to their fried onions. My friend got the fish and chips and he did not like it at all. Also, it's important to know that there is no free parking either pay a dollar per 15 minutes or six dollars valet

Found this place while in san Diego for soccer. It was a cute location with a nice view. Got seated quickly. The food was really good we had different options. We will definitely be back. Our server was nice and attentive

Stumbled upon this gem of a brewery looking for a place to go before a concert at the fair. I sat at the bar, the service was phenomenal and every single food item that came out of the window looked amazing. View overlooking the race track and fair was spectacular.

Shrimp tacos

Our family met at Viewpoint for lunch today. I have to say this is a nice set up with patio seating and a view . There are plenty of food options on the menu. I have to say, The food was very good with healthy portions. I had the Shrimp tacos and they were very tasty. Unfortunately, they only had one server for all of the patio tables, so it took a little longer to order and get our food. Our server was nice and the restaurant and bathrooms were clean. Parking is tricky, it's either valet or paid parking in the adjacent lot.

Terri G.

Viewpoint is a fun brewery with great views and atmosphere. The food was delicious and they serve overall generous portions. I ordered the fish tacos and while the amount of fish was skimpy, the plate was large and I very much enjoyed the citrusy salad that came with the tacos. Service was a bit slow at first but once the waitress took our order, the food came out relatively quickly. The parking lot is valet so that sucks, but the only other option is a paid parking lot next door. Overall, I probably wouldn't return because it didn't wow me enough to choose it over trying something new.

Belgian Dubbel
Jason L.

Viewpoint Brewing is a unique restaurant/brewery in an old warehouse sitting on an inlet with views of said inlet and the Del Mar Fairgrounds. It isn't much to behold upon pulling in but, once inside, it's far more spacious than it appears from the outside and has a pretty nice view. They offer up about 30 beers in a nice variety of styles. Yours truly had the Belgian Dubbel and it was quite nice. The food is mostly new American; burgers, sandwiches, some tacos mixed in...charcuterie...you get the idea. I had the fried Thai chicken sandwich and it was aromatic, homy and delicious (and came with a ton of fries). Our server couldn't have been friendlier and service was prompt. $6 valet-only parking out front. Would 100% go back.

Kid cheeseburger with fries. HUGE for a kids burger. We got pickles added.

Ask the Community - Viewpoint Brewing

Is their vallet free?

I believe it was $5 on Saturday during my last visit

Do they accept cash?

Yes

Are there TVs? Would this be a good spot to watch football?

This is not a sports bar vibe. I wouldn't recommend for games.

Is there a happy hour menu?

I don't think so. More like Happy to get a parking spot and Happy to get a seat, especially if the weather's good.

Do they have any vegan options?

Yes, a great veggie mezze type entree and other sides and salads that are vegan or vegetarian and could be made vegan.

What is parking like here?

they have their own (tiny) lot. Theres a dirt lot paid parking as you turn on the road. Beware they limit you to two hours so dont pay for more parking time!

Is there a dress code?

Shoes and shirt required. Flip flops welcomed.

Do they allow dogs? Inside or outside?

They allow dogs

How's their happy hour?

No happy hour but great prices all day

Does this place offer any drinks other than beer? Have a gluten allergy but going with a group. Thanks.

They offer wine - no hard alcohol, and may have a gluten-free beer? You may want to give them a call - they are very helpful!

Is it kid friendly?

Yes, there's outside seating that is nice

Is this place kid friendly?

There is an area for planning but not generally a kid environment

Is this dog friendly?

i am not a dog....but i've seen dogs there. you could ask them

Is the food good?

It's good, not great. I found it priced high for the portions/value, but good accompaniment to beer.

I am interested in dining here but the wine prices look outrageous. Really? By the way, I'm talking about the bottles of wine, not by the glass...especially the premium bottles.

Let me see if I get this straight...you're going to a brewery. For wine. And the prices don't suit you. Especially the premium bottles? I want you to read that back again. Say it out loud.

We started with cocktails, including the Prickly Lady, which was watery and completely tasteless. I then ordered the trio of dips, which were equally underwhelming--nothing memorable or distinctive, and no better than what you could buy at Trader Joe's or throw together in a blender in a couple of minutes. While we were trying our best to enjoy the drinks and appetizers, we also couldn't help but notice the very blah ambiance around us. It was quiet, cold, and insincere. There was truly nothing charming about the place and the whole vibe felt off. That should have been our first red flag, but we tried to ignore it to make the most of our rare date night. For my entrée, I ordered the branzino piccata. This was especially disappointing because branzino is one of my favorite dishes, and when you commit to a whole fish, there's no turning back. While I'm used to navigating bones, I found a bone in nearly every other bite, which made the dish unpleasant to eat. Worse, the fish itself was incredibly dry and completely lacking in flavor, accompanied by nothing more than a few warm cherry tomatoes. There was no cohesive sauce or flavor profile to speak of. Dessert followed the same theme. The s'mores cake was also dry, with a barely-there chocolate ganache center and a marshmallow topping that was honestly laughable. Unfortunately, the food wasn't even the worst part of the evening. At the end of the meal, we were told we could not use a gift card despite having called 24 hours in advance to confirm it would be accepted when we made our reservation. This led to an interaction with the owner and chef that was shocking and completely unprofessional. He caused a scene, raised his voice, and yelled at my husband and me, the paying customers. He repeatedly cut me off mid-sentence while allowing my husband to finish speaking, which felt blatantly disrespectful. When I calmly asked if there was anything he could do for us, given that he's in the hospitality business, his response was simply: "No. You can pay the whole bill and leave." I have truly never been treated this way at any restaurant in my life. Between the consistently dry, flavorless food and the hostile, misogynistic behavior from the owner, I am genuinely shocked this place is still in business. Sadly, the restaurant seems to be run exactly the way the food is cooked--poorly.
