If you're ever in Carson City, this is a pretty cool spot to go eat or just buy meats! Villa Basque Cafe, has delicious meals as well as amazing deli cuts like Portuguese sausage! I recently went to have breakfast and had the Basque Chorizo dish. It was very good and tasty! The taste was very fresh and the Portuguese chorizo was nice and spicy. I've only tried this dish as I've been here before, but everything looked and smelled amazing. I also ordered a cafe mocha which came out quick and tasted great with the meal! The service is amazing, where they immediately attend to you and you feel like family. The ambiance is a casual, plenty of tables, but be warned this place is popular so you may have to wait for some tables as it gets busy. The parking is plenty as there is a lot where you can park for free and the price is very reasonable. This place also offers sausage and meat cuts you can buy to go, which is a little taste of old world basque shops. This was my second visit here yesterday. I wanted to make another visit before doing a review. Our first visit was more of a business meeting. So I didn't feel I had the time to give the menu a good look over and appreciate the good food. I read several of the reviews and this looked to be a great place to visit. It isn't hard to find and it has that old country villa style to it. From the building to the inside. As you walk in the is a front seating area and a seating area in the back of the building. That is where there looks to be a deli of sorts. Where you can take home different kinds of meat or other items you may want. They also have refrigerators in the front seating area stocked with different items. Both visits were very good. A gentleman seated us and he has a great sense of humor. It kind of catches you off guard. Like he's a smart ass. But he's really cool. There's also a waitress who has a great personality as well. I find the service here very good. The first visit I ordered the chorizo with eggs. It comes with beans and rice and tortillas. I figured since they're famous for chorizo I would make that my choice. The wife ordered the brisket hash with eggs and potatoes. The food didn't take too long and it looked pretty good as it arrived. Although mine looked like it had been sitting for a while. I figured they were working on my wife's order and wanted to bring them at the same time. Not a big deal. Because the food was great. Wife didn't care for the brisket hash. But I thought it was good. This was just too different for her I guess. We came away thinking this visit was just ok and thought we would come back another day and try it again. Which we did yesterday. This time I chose the chicken fried steak with eggs and potatoes. Wifey ordered the enchilada stack. I believe that's what it was called. This was definitely a great meal. I know that I have raved about Pete's place before but I had my favorite burger there recently (yup, the one with a spicy basque chorizo patty along with beef patty) so incredibly good!!!! My daughter and I split this big boy and still can't finish it. Also took home a ton of frozen chorizo and even some fresh rolls. I love the freezers in front room. Makes Christmas gift giving easy. I'm a stupidly big fan of the spicy basque chorizo here, it's over the top delicious. Sometimes I wake up thinking about the stuff. Nice selection of basque imports too. It's at best a no frills cafeteria looking place in dining area, but longtime staff is so great and food/friendly atmosphere is simply old Nevada at its best. Always clean and always packed. Not sure what Pete adds to his chorizo that makes it so good (think it's love). I love my burgers and having an In and Out in Carson makes my visits, but I simply cannot visit our capital city without a visit to Pete's for an epic meal and great memories. read more

For all the hype it was just okay. We went after an appointment in Carson and it was during the week so it was nice and quiet at this time. Our server was quiet and that's okay but it seemed he was slightly upset when we only ordered two burritos and an orange juice. My burrito was better with the diced ham since the ham chunks were nice and large and not too fatty. My bf said the burrito with the chorizo was a bit much and caused indigestion all day. I did like the size of the burrito and also the salsa that it was served with. Since most of their menu is all about Chorizo, I think I'm okay only eating here once. read more

I have been to Villa Bass Café many many times, but my daughter-in-law had never been there so I wanted to take her in. The menu is incredible. It's hard to decide what to have but their lamb French dip with cheese is to die for. We decided on having the quesadillas I had the chicken quesadilla, and she had the breakfast quesadilla both of them were amazing. Their tortillas look like they are homemade. They are so fluffy and light and crispy and the chicken was generously piled on top of these tortillas and grilled with cheese, peppers and served with salsa, sour cream, and guacamole. We took an order of biscuits and gravy home to my son and they look very good. Service is always great even though they were very busy, very friendly and attentive. I wanna go back and have their paella, which is incredible and I think I'll take my kids there since it's a pretty big order. The restaurant has been there over 27 years and they have amazing chorizo that you can buy fresh and take home. They also have imported olive oil and the best balsamic vinegar I've ever had. Next time you go out to lunch and want something different try this restaurant, you will not be disappointed. read more

HIGHLY recommend. Excellent food with impressive portions, especially outstanding and unique is the chorizo recipe that Pete brought with him when he moved to Carson from Battle Mountain. Customers of his that previously would travel from Salt Lake City to his former place just for that now come all the way still. The staff is incredible and unlike most other places they've all some years there which tells me a lot of his workplace dynamics. Quickly served, we've never had to ask for a drink refill and they always get it right even when it's super busy which is almost all the time now. Lots of seating, I've not seen anyone ever wait for a table. Downside? Maybe the parking on occasion but even that's rarely ever an issue. It wasn't quite as I remembered, but as a self proclaimed B&G snob, this is THE BEST in our area. I order the same thing every time and you can't stop me. We've been going here a couple of times a month for 20 + years and the food has been good, but has been going downhill lately. Today the omelet with bacon, avocado and cheese was awful. The cheese was not melted and instead was one big slice at the bottom of the omelet. There was such a small piece of avocado it was hardly noticeable and was gross... It has a homey, family friendly type of feel and I was excited to try some basque cuisine. Most of the menu seemed to be a basque and Mexican fusion made with their own basque chorizo. It's been several years since I last visited, so I bought several hundred dollars of their chorizo so I can take it back to California. They also offered me samples of their goat cheese. Service was excellent and very attentive from both people helping us out. Their orange and carrot juice are fresh pressed to order, and sodas are extra extra crisp so that's a plus! Ordered the red chicken enchiladas and wasn't too crazy about them. The tortillas were slightly tough possibly undercooked and so was the rice unfortunately. I also tried a bite of my aunt's chorizo and I have to admit, I make better eggs and chorizo from chorizo from the grocery store. Some of the BEST breakfast you can get anywhere in Carson City or really, anywhere in area can be found right here! Obviously, Basque is what they do best and their chorizo is simply awesome and not greasy like a traditional Mexican chorizo can be but they do offer plenty of other outstanding dishes as well. My personal favorite is their massive Basque Breakfast Burritos which come filled with eggs, chorizo and potato and I always get it with jalapenos and of course, their simply to die for chorizo gravy. My wife always likes to get their Breakfast Quesadilla but I'd be lying if I said that both of us also enjoy many of their other dishes including their Spanish Chicken Omelette and Enchilada Omelette. I should note that seating is first come first serve and you can help yourself to any table you see open and I have always found the service here to be friendly and fast and my coffee always topped off. Keeping things real, the atmosphere may be the only thing that is a little lacking and that is the reason for my 4 stars there. Overall, it's fine but the decor is practical and simple and lighting may be a bit too bright and that gives it kind of a cafeteria feel. There is a front part to the restaurant that is cozier though if that's what you prefer. One thing you do need to be aware of is that they are closed on Sunday and Monday and parking in their immediate parking lot is somewhat limited but there is plenty more near by. Be sure to check their specials as when they have them, they are typically super delicious and worth trying. Need I say, this is one of my favorite breakfast restaurants and one that I bring all my out of town friends to and let me tell you, they all LOVE it just as much as I do! read more

Our second time here. It's now our regular when visiting friends. Today had the chicken quesadilla....wow, touch of spice from jalapeño and chicken was delicious. Wife had the Basque burrito.
