Great lunch spot just around the corner from my office. Food is fresh and really flavorful. Also major props for their happy hour, one of the best in Belltown to be sure. Order the tacos or the mole when you come in, both are equally mouth watering. Another major plus is the pricing, they could be charging at least $3-$4 more per entree based on the quality and portions. My wife and I have dined at Villa Escondida a few times and have enjoyed the food, but lax management has had a negative effect on our overall experience there. Our biggest complaint is that the restaurant does not update its website, so customers are getting conflicting information about when the business is open. The website states that the restaurant has a Happy Hour from 3:00 - 6:00 on Monday through Friday. Based in that information, we arrived there at 4:00 on Monday. When we got there, however, the door was locked. There were some employees inside, but they didn't acknowledge us and continued about their business. At that point, we figured that perhaps there had been a mistake on their website and the Happy Hour began at 4:00 instead of 3:00, so we decided to wait a few minutes more for them to open. We waited outside until 4:10 but there was still no sign they were ready to open, so we went elsewhere for dinner. This is not way to conduct a business. Not only did their website give incorrect information about the restaurant's hours, but the employees seem to have arrived at work late and didn't open on time as they were supposed to. Does management know about this? Another discrepancy between the restaurant's website and reality is its weekend hours. The website states they have a Breakfast/Brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm. Based on that information, we went there at 9:00 am on a recent Sunday only to find the restaurant closed. When we got home later, I checked Yelp, which stated that the restaurant was only open for Brunch on Saturday from 8:00 am to 11:00 am and that it was closed on Sundays. WTF? Is there no one connected with that business that cares enough to keep its website updated and accurate? How many other potential customers have gone out of their way to go to that restaurant only to be turned away because of faulty information? I can't see how a business can survive operating like that. read more

The wet burrito and pineapple pork tacos were both visually stimulating and smelled delicious. The salsa had that spicy kick that I look for in a garden salsa and the chips were fresh. We randomly came across this place a few months ago and we have been back several times a month. Food - great authentic Mexican favors for brunch, happy hour, and dinner!!! Ask for their house spicy sauce! Service - family owned, which means they take extra care of their customers. Our food came out pretty fast and fresh. Villa Escondida should be packed every night. The food is fresh and exquisitely prepared. The menu is small but I think we've tried everything and we always have a great meal here. All sauces are made in house, and the tomatillo sauce is especially phenomenal. My favorite is the tacos de carnitas - the carnitas are juicy with crispy edges and just the right amount of salt. Everything is great. The entrance looks a little dark, but don't let that deter you. Give it a try - the food is fantastic. read more
