Seriously good eats at this restaurant. I found this place by accident while searching in Yelp. It is located on a small side street and not easily found while driving around town. Elegant atmosphere with friendly staff. Service was prompt with minimal waiting. Serving staff was courteous and attentive. The food was excellent. I ordered the fried mozzarella balls as my appetizer. The cheese tasted fresh and creamy. The serving was rather large for a solo guest. The take home goodies were just as tasty the next day. My main course was beef and veal tortellini. It was very flavorful. The portion was plentiful without being too much. Sauce and veggies in the sauce made for a nice accompaniment to the pasta. Lastly I had to order dessert. I could not resist. The crème brulee pie was phenomenal. It was very rich but oh so good. Well worth the calorie splurge. We appreciated that they were able to get us a table on short notice as it was a busy weekend night. As a party of three, we split a number of dishes. Grilled octopus was very good, Mediterranean salad was good but a little heavy on dressing for our tastes. The stars of the dinner were the tortellini (delicious!) and the branzino. Unfortunately the risotto didn't meet basic expectations. It looked and tasted like cooked rice added to some broth and topped with seafood. It supposed to be cooked slowly to extract the starch from the rice which not only softens the rice but produces a creamy sauce. In summary, we would come here again for antipasta, pasta and secondi. My husband and I hosted a Private Party (on behalf of visiting family from out of state) for 40 guests and we could not be happier! The service provided by Michelle and Jack was beyond excellent, they were professional, friendly, attentive and efficient. They had the floor perfectly set up to accommodate all the 40 guests comfortably. The table settings were lovely and very festive looking. The buffet was also set up to make easy access for the guests. The food was outstanding... from the absolutely delicious antipasti which consisted of fresh, thinly sliced prosciutto, salami, tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, along with roasted peppers, zucchini and eggplant and other goodies. The rolls were fresh and the seasoned oil for dipping on each table were delightful. The main course buffet of Pasta with the lightest most delicious Vodka Sauce, the Pasta with traditional Red Sauce, the Chicken Marsala with Tender Chicken and tasty Mushrooms, the Veal Francaise with thin tender Veal Cutlets perfectly battered and the perfectly roasted Potatoes and Carrots was a huge hit. A Lovely Establishment with a warm owner, chef & staff! My date and I visited Villa Vito the night before Easter Sunday around 8pm and loved every aspect of our evening. We were greeted by a sweet hostess who sat us at a window table. Our server recommended specials and opened our wine, (BYO) For an appetizer, we had the Octopus & Shrimp Grilliato which was wonderful. Our entrees started with a house or ceasar salad..Entree selections were the Veal Siciliano and the Swordfish special with Kalamata olives, angel hair and shrimp. The owner touched our table to say hello and ended up sitting with us and having some wine as we spoke about his experiences within the business and what brought us to the area and their restaurant. I am not offering Villa Vito three stars because our experience was good, it was SAFE. The entire meal felt ripped out of a senior citizen's Americana view of Italian food, and it showed in the kitschy Tuscany atmosphere and extremely vapid menu. The balsamic that came with a salad was clotted and filled with sediment at the bottom and could not have been healthy. My chicken parmigiana was swimming in a sauce that was too loose and rendered the breading soggy, not to mention a glob of cheese that steamed the chicken a little rubbery. Ultimately the meal could be appealing to someone that wants inoffensive Italian fare, but doesn't distinguish itself from anywhere cheaper. read more

This is our second visit to this restaurant. We have loved our experience both times. The food is delicious and super accommodating for people with food allergies. Our waitress Emily is wonderful! Attention to detail is on point. Salad came out with no croutons! I always forget this restaurant is literally around the corner from me. One day at work I was dying for something super tasty and I remembered them and thought let me take a look. I could pick it up on the way home. I was able to do on line ordering and set the time I'd be there. I ordered Gamberi Imperiali which is 4 large shrimp stuffed with lump crabmeat with risotto on the side covered with a lobster sauce. OH. MY. GOSH. It was beyond flavorful. I couldn't even eat all of it so I had leftovers for the next day. When I got there the staff was super friendly and my order was out in moments. I HIGHLY recommend Villa Vito. During this challenging time it's nice to find a place that doesn't slack on taste. They now offer outside dining but know this it's a byob which is fine. I'm definitely going back and soon!!¡¡ EDIT. This is a beautiful restaurant. The food is often very, very good. Normally I would give 4 or 5 stars. But yesterday, while we had a nice time, I felt some things could have been improved. We went for lunch yesterday to celebrate my Dad's birthday. Our server Georgia was very nice and accommodating but even after I asked if the bill was incorrect I was told no - they charge now for salads at lunch. I paid the full amount but my father had ordered the Bistecca Dinner Entree $26 - I do believe he should not have been charged for salad. The rest of us ordered lunch entrees which on the website say they come with soup BUT I heard our server tell another table they had no soup that day so they were substituting salads. Hmmmmm. I had asked for a pasta that I had eaten there a few years ago - it was fabulous then. Yesterday the Penne Arrabbiata which should be SPICY - had no real spice. I will say it was perfectly cooked - a perfect al dente but the sauce was more of a tomato paste - not the best. It was not an arrabbiata in any way. I added peperoncini. We had ordered the Antipasto which was good. My Father loved the olives and I really liked the grilled veggies. I had asked if they would make the grilled squid/ calamari that I had there a few weeks back. It was very kind of them to do that since it was not on the menu itself as an appetizer. The first time I had it it they grilled the whole calamari tube and it was unbelievably tender and delicious. Served with just olive oil and lemon over broccoli rabe. Yesterday we got various pieces of squid and it was not as tender. The grilled flavor was good but unfortunately my Father could not chew it. The girls enjoyed their lunch Chicken Parm. I still love the atmosphere here and of course we will return but I felt that our bill should have been adjusted when I mentioned it to our server. If you are offering soup with lunch but are out of it you need to compensate and not charge. And certainly if someone is ordering a dinner entree at $26 they should get a soup or salad with their dinner - not even bread was offered to anyone at the table. I was having such a great time I just paid the bill and we went to celebrate some more. Next time though I will be more diligent in questioning the bill. read more

I ate here for the first time with my husband because we are new to the area, and Villa Vito came highly recommended. We made a reservation, and upon arrival we were seated promptly. Be forewarned, this little gem is tucked away off street and if you blink, you're likely to miss it. This restaurant is a BYO, and our server was quick to open our bottle. Off to a good start! We opted for the chef's tasting (we usually do this when the option presents itself). Our starters were good - nothing out of this world - but they were tasty. Our server, although pleasant, was rather unsure of what she was actually presenting us with. We didn't mind, however we are sure some patrons would find this disappointing. When our main entrees arrived (pasta dishes in this case), we asked the server what the Chef prepared for us and she responded with "pasta"....we can see that. After a good chuckle and this poor girl trying to feel her way through the dish, a gentleman popped over her shoulder to explain the dishes to us in great detail. Again, the server was a sweetheart and we weren't put-off in any way, but it was quite funny. I have to say, the main entrees of the tasting were DELIGHTFUL. Perfectly prepared and full of flavor. SO, TLDR: food was good, above average but not the absolute best I have ever had. Service was fine and the atmosphere was cozy. We would dine again if the opportunity presented itself. read more

Just experienced a disastrous and disappointing dining experience here Sunday evening, 9/29. Our beleaguered server did her very best to apologize for the chaos in the kitchen which resulted in most tables waiting for well over an hour to receive their entrees. Evidently the computer POS system was not working properly which caused orders not to be transmitted to the kitchen (server had to manually hand in orders), PLUS, we were informed that a new chef was "in training" in the kitchen! Our orders of veal Marsala literally had no Marsala in them rendering them tasteless. A woman who appeared to be in "management" visited our table and actually admitted our entrees were improperly prepared ("We'll work on that next time"). Not only did we and all other tables get shafted, but there was no good will offer of a complimentary coffee or dessert after waiting forever to be served tasteless meals. We have been repeat customers of this restaurant since it opened, but after how we were treated last evening we will not be returning. Imagine fresh piping hot crusty bread straight out of the oven served with extra virgin olive oil ! We just had dinner there for our daughter's birthday and the whole experience was terrible. Our waitress, Emily, was very rude and unfriendly. When our son in law asked for an iced tea, all she said was coke and diet coke, never explaining that was all they had to drink. Service was slow and when we finally got our dinner, it was cold. I was very disappointed in this restaurant. We went to the lunch service which may have had something to do with the poor quality since it's mostly a dinner joint it seems. The food was bland, I even dissected what I ordered and the veggies just tasted like oil, the cheese was tasteless, the bread was soggy. The fries were the only ok thing on my plate and those seemed to be store bought. The service was lackluster, our waitress seemed a little disinterested in serving us, we were the only people there at the time. The menus had prices crossed out and rewritten in marker which looked unprofessional. I think including the drinks on the lunch menu would be a good idea. I originally was intending to dine at The Butcher and Barkeep, but upon arriving on a Wednesday night, we were told the wait was 45 minutes. I immediately opened up Yelp on my phone and searched for the highest rated places in the area. I found Villa Vito was less than a mile away and called them up, they had one table left open for us -- what luck! We arrive and are greeted by some awesome hostesses and a lovely waitress. The fresh bread and pesto olive oil were heavenly, but be careful, you're going to want to save room for later. Service: Pretty much the holy trinity of service: Warm, inviting, and accommodating! I give them an A; the bread and oil took a decent amount of time to show up, but when it did! Pollo Parmigiana ($22) (Breaded Chicken, topped with Marinara Sauce and Mozzarella, Served with Penne) First, I substituted the Penne with Linguine and it was absolutely no hassle at all, they actually said they were glad I substituted because our table was "too easy." Love it! Our table was gifted bowls of Parmigiana and crushed Red Pepper flakes and they hooked me up with my guilty pleasure: fresh basil. The portions were humongous and the cheese was melted perfectly on the well-seasoned breaded cutlet. The tomato sauce was a great consistency & quite sweet, which are hallmarks of a GREAT sauce! The pasta was al dente and emulsified nicely with the sauce. Grade: 97/100 Lamb Chop Toscano ($28) (Grilled Lamb Chops served over Gnocchi in Pesto) This dish gave me backyard BBQ vibes all-the-way, in the best sense of the term. The grilled flavor comes through and the dish screams authenticity and breaks apart from the traditional preparation of lamb chops in fine-dining. I loved the flavors in this dish, the Gnocchi is just icing-on-the-cake and pairs nicely as a potato-centric dish to complement the grilled Chops. They also drizzled a balsamic glaze around the perimeter of this dish which added a great acidity and sweetness to the dish -- so good I'd tell the chef to double the balsamic portion! Grade: 89/100 Pappardelle Bolognese ($18) (Italian Meat Sauce Made with Ground Veal, Pork, and Beef) An Italian classic! This lived up to the standards set in the Old Country -- an oval trough piled high with thick Pappardelle noodles and a rich, multidimensional Bolognese sauce. The sauce tasted like the meat was ground at the time we ordered, very fresh and pronounced flavor! Perhaps going away from authenticity, but I always enjoy this dish more when adding crushed red pepper flakes, Parmigiano-Reggiano, and fresh basil. Grade: 90/100 People who follow my reviews know how much I value dishes coming out piping hot -- they were an A+ in this department as well. Will certainly return here! read more

We live within a mile and had never been so we thought it would be nice to try for a birthday dinner. We had a 6:30 reservation that wasn't ready until 6:40 despite them calling to confirm earlier in the day. Once seated we ordered two antipasto boards to cover all 7 of us. These came out fairly quick. It then took almost an hour until our salads, which were 14 small pieces of lettuce (member in our party counted) and one forgotten soup. Another 30+ minutes after finishing the salads until our dinners arrived - the food was decent but not worth the wait or price. Our server apologized for the delays and cited the larger (and obnoxiously loud) party that she "wanted to get food out to and out of the way." That, to me, shouldn't be my problem nor should it impact my dining experience. $240 dinner bill for my party of 7 and almost 3 hours of time. A shame that a larger group impacted our experience and more than likely won't return. read more

Have given this place several tries and it just doesn't cut it. Lots of promise but just not quite delivering. Service has always been great. Young staff but all pleasant and professional. The food is lacking. The calamari fritti is large, chewy and last time had such a strong fishy odor and taste I couldn't eat it. Salads are very small and unimpressive. Entrees are good portions (not too big) but often lack in full flavor. On the plus side they don't drown the dishes in sauces. I really want to like Villa Vito. The first time I was in Villa Vito was 3 years ago. It surprised me that this was here, passing it on Main Street for years. Its tucked in off the road a bit, so you can't see it from Main Street you can only access it through Alumni Avenue or Maple Avenue. That being said, I'm so glad I found it!! The parking lot may be small but don't let that discourage you. It's pretty classy looking and the food is delicious! Italian food is my favorite, so I always hold it to the highest degree. I greatly enjoyed what I got, the servers were all polite and efficient. It is worth stopping in for sure. Came to Villa Vito for a birthday dinner last night! It was pasta night (Wednesday) for $24 you receive salad, soup, a personal sized appetizer, your choice of a pasta and sauce. A pretty great deal if you ask me! Although it was enticing my party opted for all pasta dishes instead. The seafood risotto that the birthday girl got was AWESOME, hands down the best meal of the table! I got the veggie pasta dish (came in an eggplant boat- such a cute presentation). Overall our dinner was very good. This was our 2nd or 3rd visit. This was the first time we were seated upstairs and it was very nice. The service is always excellent. The Stuffed Portabella Mushrooms and the Grilled Calamari were delicious. Everyone , we're a party of 6, ordered something different. All my friends were very happy with there meals so I did my best to bite my tongue and be happy. At the end of the meal the waitress asked everyone if they liked their meals, I guess she noticed I didn't say anything so she asked me again and I had to offer that what was served as Lamb Chops , were not Lamb Chops. My own fault, I should have asked in advance. I was expecting Lamb Chops, 2 or maybe 3 Chops, 1-1.25" thick. I ordered them medium rare. What I got was half a rack of some little imported lamb, that was French Cut then each little rib bone was cut to was is served as Lamb Chop Lolipop appetizers like at fancy cocktail party. They were cooked that way too. Barely a 1/4" thick, the were medium to well done and cooling down by the time I got them. Had I known I was getting half a rack of Lamb, I would have ordered it rare, thankfully they tried to hit medium rare because they were not too gamey like overlooked Lamb typically tastes. On top of that there was no Currant or Port Wine sauce to go with them. Just 4 little skinny Lamb Chop Lolipops. One still was slightly pink at the bone. My dinner was a disappointment. Lamb is tricky, anyone that orders it must be a fan. Why not make them tell everyone how great it was? read more

Went there for dinner and our excitement for an excellent Italian restaurant was so high! Everything was FANTASTIC!!! Mixed review. Small salads do come with entrees. My entree was very disappointing. It was the chicken with Luna Rossa. It was suppose to be lump crabmeat with fresh mozzarella and asparagus. The crabmeat was not lump and the asparagus did not taste fresh. The mozzarella did not seem like fresh mozzarella either. Bread and oil was good. husband had the Gamberi Imperiali which he really enjoyed. Service was slow. Had to wait for bucket for white wine. we only saw one being used. THey had plenty of bus staff.
