Sadly, I was very disappointed recently when i had dinner here. I had not been here in many years, but people said it very good. The restaurant is lovely inside and the live music on a Wednesday night was a treat. Started with the included salad , just some non-descript greens. I ordered veal marsala, it came with roasted vegetables ? The waiter did bring me a bowl of pasta when I complained. sauce was more like brown gravy than with no taste. Mushrooms seemed old with a very chewy texture. I ordered Italian cheesecake which tasted like a lemon cake. Left most of my food including dessert. We can not even begin to sing the praises of the staff, quality of food, efficiency of service, ambiance, and personal care of our funeral luncheon. We stopped yesterday for lunch to meet Dianna and the team. We also had a wonderful lunch. The calamari over pasta and the flounder francese. Both were outstanding and the starter salad and dressing were homemade. Today, we had 4 entre choices which were all delicious, served hot, in perfect time after the antipasto and salad. Everyone was seriously raving. We are not easy reviewers on restaurants. Love to compliment when you get it all from a place like this. Fast to criticize when it does not meet expectations. The food is fine. Nothing special, but fine. A standard Italian restaurant. The portion sizes are good. It's an okay place in terms of substance. However, the service moves at a crawl. We had a 6:30 reservation on a Friday night and weren't done until over two hours later. They took forever to even take our orders. Saturday night was very crowded but you could still hold a conversation. Started out with drinks at the bar which was in the reception area. Some small high tables and a bar to sit at. Well done on the dirty martinis as the were perfectly made. Lovely live background music in the main dinning room. Service was excellent. Shrimp cocktail, clams casino, fried calamari and Cesar salad. Great appetizers. Everyone's Dinner was very good except the pork chop was so overdone that you couldn't get a steak knife thru it. Love the atmosphere, music, and service but the seafood dish I ordered had pieces of crab shell and little pieces from the shrimp tail in it so I had to take pieces out of each bite. Not to mention that the scallops were a little sandy. The dish was flavorful, however, I couldn't really enjoy it since I had to stop each bite to take pieces of shell out of my mouth. read more

This is my grandfather favorite restaurant. So when we come to visit, we come here often. The staff is all super friendly and very on point. The food is great and i don't think I've ever had a bad dish here. If you want a little show for dessert ask for bananas flambe, one of the staff will come out on a cart and cook it right in front of you. And its delicious and tasty. Almost didn't come here because the average Yelp rating was only 3.5 out of 5 stars. We had run out of options and decided to give it a chance. Boy am I glad we did!!! We started with an escargot appetizer that was on the specials menu. The fish was amazingly tender and bathed in a white wine, garlic sauce that we happily mopped up with the semolina bread served with our cocktails. For dinner I had a halibut special that was served with sgitmp, both oreganata style, both perfectly cooked (so many restaurants overcook shrimp) with a side of angel hair pasta tossed with garlic, kalamata olives and sun dried tomatoes. Soooo good!!! Mom had a pasta dish from their regular menu with shrimp, sausage, broccoli and garlic tossed with angel hair pasta. She loved it! And was thrilled to have some to take home for dinner during the week. I'm not sure of the timing, but I've learned that ownership was taken over by some ambitious (and apparently talented) servers who worked for the previous owners. Tonight's experience was awful. The food was good; however, it was extremely LOUD. It was so LOUD in the restaurant that it was nearly impossible to hear the waitress share the night's specials. She indicated that she would "scream" them. If you want to experience good food in the middle of what seems like rush hour at Grand Central Station, this is the place for you. I had looked forward to a nice dinner for two. My head still feels like it left a wedding with an exceptionally loud band. Large parties should not be seated in the middle of the room. After many wonderful meals here several years ago I returned with anticipation for a special occasion. While the appetizer specials were wonderful, our table of 3 had three dinners off the menu. Chicken rollatini, Steak and Veal Parmesan. All three meals were very dry meat - even the steak, cooked medium. Not sure how they accomplished that! The service was terrible. Our porty waiter had to be called over every time something was needed. He never stopped by to check on us, clear a dish or refill wine until it was time to pick up the check. Then he was right there and reached across to get the check with barely an acknowledgement. We saw him standing around, it's not that he was busy. I couldn't even address his service in the check as a 20% gratuity was automatically added. If that wasn't enough they had a piano player/singer who was so loud we could barely speak to each other. I have been here many times now due to the fact that my parents live in this area and they love it. They apparently do not know good food nor good service. This place has neither. We recently celebrated my Mom's 80th birthday there and I brought a rather expensive custom made specialty cake as a surprise for her. I tried to remember to tell the waiter every detail on what to do with the cake. Refrigerate it, bring it out for us to put the candles in it. I don't trust their wait staff as they have never shown me good common sense service here. After they took it from the table after she blew out the candles, they took it to the kitchen to cut it. On the top was a custom made inedible record with a "Happy 80th Birthday" written on it. Because I was too busy trying to socialize and actually enjoy my family, I forgot to tell the idiot waiter to make sure he removed this and returned it so she could take it home as a memento. Sure enough when I did remember to ask for it, they had the nerve to give it to me in a take out tin and it was smeared and had junk all on it. It was quite clear they picked it out of the trash to give it to me. Really!!!! I have to tell your dumb wait staff every play by play and what to do? Common sense would say "hey let's remove this to the side and ask if they would like it back". Noooo. Not at this mismanaged restaurant. Besides the horrible wait staff who doesn't know how to properly serve a table, (reaching over a person to give the plate to the person next to them), instead of coming around the person, the food is sub par. They put a carafe of white wine in the table that were not chilled. They should have been in ice buckets to keep them chilled. Sangria was included but that was no where to be found. No one oversees the parties no one checks these incompetent wait staff. The owner is a joke. Do you actually think your restaurant is a 4 or 5 star? Far from it!! Nothing to write home about. No taste in any of their dishes. Nothing impressive. I was so annoyed and disgusted but I should have expected it. This place never disappoints me with their bozo wait staff. This must be the only Italian restaurant in the area because not sure why it is busy, or I am spoiled because I live in North Jersey where there is a plethora of quality Italian restaurants that would put Villa Vittoria out of business if they were nearby. We recently had our daughters baptism here and everything was fabulous. The owners Nelson and Dago were very accommodating. The food was excellent and came out hot which everyone was impressed with for serving a party of about 70 people. The only downside I would say is that the vodka sauce was watery, although the flavor was excellent, we wanted to drink it up! Our family is Italian so they know good vodka sauce, and everyone said they wish it was thicker and would stick to the pasta better. Service was excellent and the drinks were great too. I believe they overbook reservations, because there was a line beginning to overflow into the parking lot. Ok, so u think, wow this place must be good. We ordered Steak au povrie n veal Parm. They need to get better quality control and throw food away if it's bad. Came in a large group, and many of us got sick from the food. The food was not that great, in my humble opinion, but that was not the worst of it. My brother and sister-in-law had dinner here for everyone after my nefew's communion. At least 5 of us got sick with food poisoning or something from the food. My husband and I got sick, my brother-in-law was sick, and 3 other people got sick. We still cannot figure out specifically which dish got us sick, but this is the only meal we all had together and all got sick on the same day for about 48 hours. The review was filtered, but there is another patron who has reviewed this place on Yelp and said they got sick. It was not the same day. I'm sure others have gotten sick here too, but they didn't say anything or didn't know which meal did it. Ordered stuffed mushrooms, sea bass with grilled vegetables and strawberry zabaglione. Mushrooms tasted like they were frozen and defrosted, fish was very good although the veggies were too oily. Zabaglione was great. Ordered espresso martini which tasted like watered down milk shake. It was pretty awful. My mother-in-law got violently ill after the meal. My wife was serenaded by a guy with an accordion early & the singer they had later on did a great job - nice touches, for sure. For appetizers, we had calamari & eggplant rollatini - both very good (though the marinara could have used some more kick).
