Had an awesome time here! My girlfriend and I loved the experience. We shared a few small plates, and if you're into a tapas-style meal with outdoor seating, this place is a must-visit. A standout moment was when I accidentally got something on my shoes, and a waiter kindly brought over something to clean it--great service! Now for the downsides. Be careful about giving them your email. I visited a few months back, and now I get emails almost every other day. This last one might be a weird criticism for some. While the decor was clean and fairly new during our visit, I do worry it could start to feel a bit cliché or "corny" over time. Walking with a friend after work and selected Villa Yara as a good spot to catch up. The interior is gorgeous. The fixture over the bar is stunning, a sight to behold. And we chose to sit at the bar. The bartenders were always available to take drink and food orders. Out of the four mezza ordered the clear winners were the Fattet Batinjan and the Arnabeet. The drinks were tasty @$20 each. All in at $120 for 2 drinks and 4 appetizers and tip it really was a meal and we boxed of what remained. Villa Yara does not have a happy hour and does not charge and extra "service fee" like other DC eateries. I appreciate that! read more

Just a lovely and pleasant experience from start to finish. When you walk in the ambiance is so well done it feels almost dreamy. The floral theme, interesting lighting options, luxe seating options, personal touches with photographs and a nice playlist to bring it all together. Perfect for a date night, or just to enjoy a nice meal with your people. The mezzeh portions were perfect with options for multiple dietary restrictions, we did the muhammara dip which had a little spice combined with the sweetness of the pomegranate and walnut. We also did the fried eggplant, spinach pie, and potatoes. They all came out timed perfectly and with excellent presentation and great flavor profile. We lingered for a bit enjoying the ambiance and also enjoyed some tea and arak but ended up too full to partake in dessert. Our servers and support staff were all very sweet and hospitable. We just loved our experience so much! Especially for a newly opened restaurant they worked like such a seamless team. It is a beautiful restaurant and Georgetown does need something like that. However maybe the hype sets the expectations too high. The food was just ok nothing from 8 dishes that we've ordered stood out and made us say "wow I will come back for that again". It's lacking flavor. Very bland. Yara's dream dessert had very strong bitter taste, very odd mix of flavors and completely not balanced. However very cute presentation, cute plates. Service was also odd. We got greeted at the table with: "hi how you doing? So you gonna have wine?" Not "what would you like to drink/what can I get you from the bar?/would you be interested in some drinks or wine this evening?" Or first and foremost "what kind of water can I get you?" It was right of the bet a very odd question that already suggests that we gonna have wine, sounded pushy. I personally will not come back. However the restaurant is fairly new and have a lot of things to work on, I hope to see them blossom into excellent service and better tasting menu. read more

I am not someone that has a tendency to leave reviews, especially negative ones, however the evening we experienced at Villa Yara needs to be noted in hopes of avoiding similar situations in the future. Me and friends from university reunited in D.C on the last weekend of May to celebrate our common friend on her special day. Out of all the restaurants we researched we decided to visit Villa Yara because of the lovely ambiance and the accommodating menu. Our reservation was at 8:15 pm (a reservation made days in advance) and we showed up right on time. Unfortunately the restaurant was overbooked, but this was not the end of the world right? Right... The hostess informed us that we would have to wait 30 minutes before being seated but that we could order drinks at the bar as we waited and so we did, not thinking much of it. All of a sudden 45 minutes have gone by and we have yet to be seated, and after nearly an hour we decided to ask the server to sit at the first available table which was outside by the sidewalk. Afterwards we were left at that table for what must have been 10 minutes with no one coming to clean up the food and drinks from the previous guests. When confronting the manager, Nomi Chaudhry he met us with arrogance and negligence, showing very little concern regarding the situation. As a matter of fact he raised his voice at my friend, yelling at her to go sit down as she was talking to him. Finally we were served and this is when the night turned around for the better because our waiter Michael was truly exceptional, professional and polite. So were the two hostesses, Megan and Eve who assisted us through the evening. If I could give a rating based only on their service it would be 5 star but unfortunately taking everything into account I can't give it more than 2. I believe this restaurant would benefit if the manager was replaced by someone more professional and less arrogant. read more

Where do I even begin? From the minute you walk in, to the minute you exit, this place is filled with warmth, love, TASTY FOOD, and ambiance! I have been to villa yarra twice, and they have always gone above and beyond with my needs and wants. Made sure the food was as requested. My server, Yemil, has been great. Villa Yara provided a wonderful dinner for a professional group celebration of almost 40 people. The private upper room was the perfect setting that allowed our group to all be together. The menu was set in advance and care was taken to ensure it would work out for our group's financial boundaries. It was easy and quick for us to all get food/drinks -- it was SO delicious and plentiful! Everyone left very satisfied. Mounira was such a pleasure to work with in setting up the reservation. She was very attentive to three of our guest that had dietary restrictions and they felt they had great options to choose from - thank you for making sure they could be a part of celebration! Messi was one of our servers and took such good care of us -- that's not always an easy task with large groups, so her high-level service was SO appreciated! I did liked the ambience of villa yard it was cute. But I wished I enjoyed the food better at villa yara. I ordered the sambousa and it was $14. I thought it would have been plentiful or at least big but it was small 3 sambousas and I was really disappointed. That reflected to the rest of the meal where it felt overpriced with small portions. Was recommended this by a family friend back in Jordan, saying this was the most authentic Levantine Arabic food in DC. I can confirm he was totally right. Everything here is perfect. I really tried to give this place a chance. One of the worst dining experiences I ever had. It took so long to get the food, came out cold and that is not what we paid for with the We arrived at 5:30 with a reservation and were seated in about five minutes or so. Upon sitting down we put in an order because we were very hungry immediately. It took over an hour and fifteen minutes or so to get our food. When *some* of the food came the kabob were cold and the hummus came without bread. We waited another 20 minutes or so for bread after which we had already almost finished the hummus. Yet that is not the icing on the cake, we had to wait another 20 min or so for the rest of the food to arrive. Overall the food was good but not amazing. It was brought out cold and although I liked some of the dishes -- like the Yara's kibbeh -- it truly wasn't worth the wait. The waitress incredibly kind, responsive and empathetic but it really wasn't in her hands she wasn't the cook. Also the poor lady she was one of the only ones handling the entire restaurant. We recently decided to go to Villa Yarra, as part of my boyfriend birthday celebrations. My boyfriend and I had just started dating a few months ago and we were super excited to try out the restaurant.  Our reservation was for 8:30pm on a Friday and we got there on time and were seated at a table outside. We ordered a few appetizers and entrees and drinks and were having a great time, until things started going sour. With 2-3 plates of our food still on our table, four staff members came by and started clearing the table. I asked my boyfriend if he was done with his food and he could not even say wasn't as he did not understand why there were four people around our table. We both thought that they were perhaps clearing the table, to bring us a cake, sing us happy birthday, as we saw that happen minutes ago for someone else's birthday. Before this even happened, the waiter had given me the check, even without asking if we were through with our food and drinks! By the time this had happened it wasn't even 1015pm on a Friday night and there were still guests in the restaurant. My boyfriend and I decided to leave but we decided to speak to the GM, who really had no clue how to help. She offered to bring us the food that the staff took away, which was strange enough, then offered me her number and told me to call, without giving any context. It was incredibly bizarre. Throughout this experience,all we wanted to do was to have a great time and enjoy each other's company. I came here a second time to bring some clients and partners along because I had such a pleasant experience the first time. What a disappointment. The food was not only subpar at best, and the service was less than mediocre. I can't even describe how upsetting it was that our group had high expectations based on my previous review of the place, and were left with nothing but tasteless food and even worst, bad service. We were very disappointed with our experience; the food lacked flavor, the lamb kafta had almost no seasoning and barely tasted like lamb, the hummus with lamb had small hard pieces of lamb sprinkled on top, we waited so long for our hummus to arrive and were so disappointed for the amount of lamb on top (we counted 10 tiny total dry pieces on top that honestly did not taste like lamb and were so dry! The food comes in parts, which I understand for mezze, but it took 30 minutes after we had received our kafta and salad for the hummus to arrive, a bit too long in my opinion. Also our food arrived and drinks were still not served. The server was very sweet, but so very busy and when we asked the girl who delivered our food about our drinks her answer was "oh check with your waitress." My 16 dollar glass of vinegary wine had a lot of cork pieces in it. From the bar to service and kitchen everything was a fail. The family beside us were also very frustrated. read more

This restaurant is truly extraordinary in every right. From the hospitality to our amazing server Amir, Villa Yara has everything that Georgetown needs. By far the best rush on the menu was the Fatteh Araydis, a creamy and scrumptious yogurt and tahini dish. Our server, Amir, was so kind and hospitable. Villa Yara has yet to be beaten as my favorite Mediterranean restaurant in DC (as a vegan). I've been on a more casual lunch date and also a parents-in-town dinner and it was phenomenal both times. My favorite thing about it is that all the dishes have the same, like, color/tone if that makes sense?? So you can order anything and it all tastes great together. My bestie was in town so on Thursday when we made plans, I suggested we do brunch at this spot since it had recently popped up on my IG feed. They weren't on OpenTable or Resy but their IG page had a link to their site to book a reservation, which I did for 1pm. Mind you, my friend is from a different state so her time here is limited and valuable. She arrives there at 1 and they at her outside , under the sun with no umbrella. It was a very sunny day so she asked to be moved. By this time , it was around 1:20 and I'd joined her. When I sat down, only her side of the table had been set up with plates and napkins. No complementary water or menu. After patiently waiting for service, since no one attended to us, I nudged a waiter for a menu. At this point, it was around 1:45. (So 45 minutes into reservation and we were just getting a menu). At the same time, I noticed that 3 groups around us getting sat and attended to. We finally ordered our appetizers and a drink just to get things going and it got worse. ALL the people that set down and ordered after us, received their food. Mind you, it's now 2:15 and we don't even have our food. At this point , I spoke with a manager to communicate my dissatisfaction. I wanted to leave immediately but my friend wanted to at least try the food we ordered. We of course asked for the check at this time. Food: the few items we had an opportunity to eat were bland. The potato was extremely dry and the cheese rolls undercooked. The fried cauliflower didn't have much flavor as well. After we repeatedly said no to dessert. The manager decided to send it out. We didn't eat it. By 2:30, we paid for our $100 check and went on our way. I was still hungry and extremely shocked about the experience. I've never been to a restaurant that selectively serves their patrons. I was the only person of color and of course I can easily make an assumption but I won't. However, after this experience, I don't plan on returning and brining any of my family and friends. Friends, I love mediterranean food and I was so excited to discover what I'd hoped to be a gem but it was unfortunately not the case. Keep that in mind. read more
