About 3 weeks ago. Panicking for a way to wash, I called Fernando, based on his reviews. As others have said, he is very nice, punctual, and accessible. He had almost sold out due to quarantine, had 2 washers to choose from. So I asked him to access which was better mechanically. 3 weeks later, so far, so good. Plus he delivered and installed for just a drop more. And was very thoughtful about not scraping the cheap vinyl I had just put in. Good guy. So this is a month later, using the old machine a lot, and it just started leaked from the bottom. Fernando came right over. Put a new pump and I'm good to go. Needs an extra read more

My less than 5 year old Kenmore Elite refrigerator freezer stopped getting cold enough. I called Village Appliances. The man who answered said, in effect, that Kenmore Elites were pieces of junk in which the compressor was most often the problem. He stated this without asking me one question about the cooling issue, then proceeded to tell me it would be a $150 service call to even look at the fridge, and in the same breath offered to sell me a new fridge. Clearly this company is not in the business of repairing refrigerators, but trying to sell you a new one. read more

I am incredibly impressed by Village Appliances. I couldn't use my washing machine. The drum on my washing machine was so far off center after someone in my house (who will remain nameless, but it may have been me) washed an unbalanced load with one dog bed in it. I honestly thought that we were going to have to buy a new machine but opted for the hail Mary pass of having someone come fix it just in case it could be salvaged. Since Village Appliances has great recommendations, I chose them. I called on a Sunday hoping to schedule something for early in the week and was surprised by the quick call back and offer to swing by that afternoon. I opted to have them come the next day. They arrived promptly and immediately got down to business, fixing my washing machine in around 20 minutes. This was four or five weeks ago, and the worksmanship has held up. We haven't had any issues since, and the machine is running better than it had before we fixed it. The best part? It was only $80 and both father and son were great to talk to and incredibly honest. I'll definitely use them again if we have something wrong with one of our appliances. read more

Village Appliances ROCKS!!! I spent a week calling around and going to various used appliance centers because my washer had stopped working. All these places advertise $99 washers (which was about all I had at the time) and when I go look, most of them were 25 to 50 years old...well, you know what I mean. I'd not pay $100 for a washer like that. Then, everything else was $199 and up. Don't waste your time with any of the used appliance places around town, they are just trying to rip you off. I then tried Craigslist and Facebook but everyone thinks their 10 year old washer is worth a fortune and the few that did not could not deliver. I don't have a truck and could not afford the ridiculous delivery fees charged around here. So, I called Village Appliances and they came the same day (they came Saturday around 9PM). I texted them a photo, told them what it was doing and got a diagnosis, a price and the base service charge if they did nothing (way lower than anyone in town). They came, they conquered and I am back in business for $150. I could not find a decent used washer for that amount. Great job guys. I will be recommending you to all of my friends. I have to let everyone in the Raleigh/Durham area know about a wonderful secret! When I moved into my home, the washer and dryer smelled terribly. The washer had years of filthy mold, hair, slime, detergent, and many other foul substances caked all through the insides. If you opened it, a horrible smell would hit you. If you washed anything in it, terrible brown pieces of sin stuck to your laundry (I only washed some rags). I was about to throw it away when I found my new best friend, Fernando. He completely cleaned my machine, changed several parts, and had all of it done in two days. He only charged me $150 dollars, which is hundreds cheaper than a new machine or paying some technician. He also cleaned my dryer and replaced the thermal components on the back for $70. Now I have two brand new machines. They will run for another 25 years if properly taken care of. If you need your machines (washer or dryer) cleaned or repaired, you must call Fernando. He can clean or fix any machine and diagnose any problem! I am going to call him back out in three or four years to clean the machines again. This way I won't need to replace the machines unless I somehow fall prey to the aesthetic desires of the stackable front loaders (And I won't because I am married to Gary). Wow. This guy came to my house 30min after I called him... on a Sat PM! Now, you'd expect to pay extra for that, but his diagnostic fee was actually cheaper than the guy who couldn't come until Mon, and he fixed my washer (and cleaned out my dryer vent and changed the fuse) for $200. He seemed honest. He and his son work together, and it seemed like they'd done this a million times before. He also sells used W/D's, and is glad to do an assessment and let you know if it's worth fixing or if it's time for a replacement. read more

Unfortunately, this place is not honorable. Contacted for quote after seeing several online ads mentioning their $35 diagnostic fee but it was a bait and switch. When I reached out I was expecting the $35 as that was the only fee mentioned in their ads. Instead, I was told the fee would be $70. That's double the advertised price! The money is not the issue, as I would pay for good service. However, advertising at one price and then switching to another is not right. I would not recommend doing business with Village Appliances until they have full transparency with their pricing. When I mentioned the discrepancy to the owner, I was met with a rude, snarky response rather than an apology for being mislead. read more

We are very disappointed considering the high reviews. I called this company about our dryer. The man who answered the phone was not very friendly and abruptly asked me for a picture of appliance. I should have known not to communicate further based on his tone. I sent pictures and then he trxt me again and instead of calling me back asking if I wanted to sell or repair. I was confused as I had called him in first place about a repair. I went along though answering via text that repair was needed. He then texted me the diagnostic fee. I then had to text again about his next available appointment. He told me the next day Friday between 12-1 and I told him ok great. Instead of him showing professionalism and confirming appointment and other details by phone or text, he goes radio silent. The next day when the appointment rolls around We dont hear from him. When I text him for eta, He then tells me I didnt give him my address so he booked other appointments. At this point it was clear that this company is not professional and has poor customer service. I will take my money elsewhere. What this company failed to understand is that you miss out on repeat business and future referrals when you treat potential customers any kind of way. read more

Our washing machine had gone on the fritz, and I happened across the Yelp site for VIllage Appliances. I was so intrigued I had to call them. After using them I was so impressed that I had to review them. These guys are TOTALLY up and up, trustworthy and I just can't say enough about them. I would recommend them to anyone. I called them on a Friday evening. My call was returned in five minutes, and an appoinment time was set up. They called in route to confirm the appointment. WIth in ten minutes of arriving, the problem with the washing machine had been diagnosed, and repaired for less than the initial quote. I love these guys, and now have them on speed dial so that I can share their number with my friends and coworkers at a moment's notice! read more

I never write Yelp reviews, but felt compelled to do so about Village Appliances. My washing machine broke at 8:30pm on Friday night. I found a recommendation for Village Appliances, saw they were open until 9pm so called hopeful to set up a Saturday appointment. Fernando (son) on the phone was super nice and totally professional. He asked me to text a picture of the washing machine and called me back immediately to tell me what the problem was most likely. He estimated what the cost would probably be, and also what the service call fee was if it couldn't be repaired. He called at 10:30am to let me know Fernando (father) was on the way He arrived at 11:00am. By 11:10am my machine was working. Fernando (father) was very nice to my son and engaged him in conversation. He also thanked me for the business, because giving him a job helps him, which is something I've never experienced before.
