    Burger without bun

Burger was good but I need to visit again. Feel like next time I need to experience the menu as is and not remove the bun. Atmosphere is nice for lunch.

Good food. Friendly service. Fair price. Kid friendly. Perfect for that after game meal with the kids. Grab a burger, a killer hot dog, and some adult beverages just keep the kids by your side. It felt like a preschool with parents letting their children run amuck inside, on the patio, and even in the parking lot. While I'm appreciative there are places for kids what I don't like is management allowing the degree. I understand it can be tricky to talk with parents but there're are risks to allowing this behavior. And yes there have been incidents including balls hitting cars and patrons. The playground (there is no actual playground) aside the food is good. I loved my burger and the frozen margaritas flowed well. The staff was super friendly and walked me through choosing the onion rings over the fries based on our conversation. They're awesome (staff and rings) While they are a 4 or even a 4.5 for food and service, even the fresh air patio, the free range kids are not for me. If you need a break from your little ones maybe this is the place for you. I'll be back for the burger but not on a weekend.

Burgers are great the meat is good quality. Definitely worth it. The fries are so good I ordered more and I'm picky with fries.

Ok, village burger bar has been saved in my phone for more than 10 years. I'm a HUGE fan of the paninis, the burgers, the shoestring and sweet potato fries, the best chocolate milkshake on the planet, and most recently the build-your-own chicken sandwiches (if you haven't tried their chicken sandwiches, you MUST...idk how they do it but 12/10 recommend), and the chicken tenders! I no longer live in Dallas, but VBB is always a must, every time I visit. Also, the spiked cherry limeades are perfection. Even their ICE is good. While normally my review would be glowing glowing glowing, I just got home with a takeout order placed online. I actually called in as soon as I placed the order to make a few requests because there is NO place to add any specifications or even ask for anything "on the side" ---- on any of the many online ordering platforms --- which is a real shame because their SAUCES. One request was for a few sides of artichoke aioli. It might be my favorite sauce ever... it's spicy and delicious and now the secret's out. Anyway, the woman who answered the phone didn't even ask my name for the order, so I voluntarily gave it to her since I figured it would be necessary(?), and asked if it would also be possible to get light seasoning on one sandwich. She did not answer if it was possible, but she assured me yes to all the things and she would let the kitchen know. I believed her. I arrived and explained I was picking up, and believed we'd spoken on the phone about sides of aioli. She said yes we had, and she'd check on the order. So I waited. And waited. And waited. It's Memorial Day, and tonight happened to be one of the slowest nights I've ever seen at this location, which is usually packed. Only two or three groups were seated inside, a few outside, and the counter was dead. I kept to myself while waiting and eventually someone handed me the order. The bag was sealed, knotted and secured with a sticker placed on so tightly, I legit had to cut it open when home because there was no other way. I didn't want to be annoying and ask about aioli AGAIN bc that's embarrassing and I'd just mentioned it in our last verbal exchange and I didn't wanna be that greedy aioli girl. So we got home. The first thing I noticed...nothing was lightly seasoned. So that was disappointing. The MAIN point, though, is that while we were given enough ketchup to feed a ketchup-centric army, there are no sides of artichoke aioli to be found. Not. One. And I...am absolutely devastated. VBB, please don't tease people and pretend you'll fulfill their artichoke aioli dreams. I want to be angry. I am angry. But mostly, I'm just let down. Shocked. Disappointed. And heartbroken. And regretting not being that annoying aioli girl. And regretting not getting a beverage bc CLEARLY one would be beneficial right about now. Anyway please don't hate me, I love you. I'm just sad.

Good luck finding much chicken in the fried chicken sandwich.

I really want to like this place but have to give it 2 stars for the inconsistency of the food. I have been to this location 5 times and have had 5 different results. I have had a perfect medium rare hamburger with a bright pink center and it was awesome. Another time medium rare was barely pink in the middle and brown most the way through. I went the other day and decided to try their fried chicken sandwich. Being it is called Village Burger Bar, I probably shouldn't have ordered that. The chicken was non existent (see picture). It was basically a flat piece of fried something with hardly any chicken. If you remember the "where's the beef" commercials well this is "where's the chicken!!!" It was terrible. I'd rather have a fried chicken sandwich from any fast food restaurant. Next are the shakes. They have not been that cold and not thick at all. Basically it was like having a room temperature cup of milk. I think I'll stick to one of the 50 other burger joints in town until I know this place has changed.

Nice little place. Hadn't been there in years. My son loved the burger. I liked the turkey pesto panini. I had a taste of the frozen drinks. Both good. Relaxing atmosphere. Very friendly bartender that took our lunch order. We will be back.

A paloma, Onion Rings and a Avocado Toas
    Luke Y.

I am happy overall and with the quality of this establishment and staff! Great people and burger quality! This will mostly just be about the new item, the avocado toast thing. The staff are friendly and on the ball with detail (almost with the exception of the avocado toast item.) they did great with my cheeseburger, I got it dry with the patty cooked rare/blue rare, onion rings, friends. And a couple of other drinks like a margarita and a paloma. The only contention I did have silently, was the new avocado toast dish. It's not bad per se, there's just too much ricotta cheese (to me at least) to blend in properly with the toast, avocado and the cherry tomatoes. I think a lighter streak could MAYBE help with the blend of taste and texture. Which unfortunately I do have to input, that I did ask for a light spread of the ricotta cheese instead of the normal spread. It didn't feel like it was a light spread so makes me beg the question of how THICK is that ricotta on the dish or if my request was ignored for my order. Like I said, it's not bad nor was I angered but it did get me thinking. I'd say look into it and I think you would have a fantastic dish to share with the world. Less thick and make it a smooth experience. I will return when I am in the mood for a rare cooked burger. Fucking fantastic. One of the only few places to make it happen!

I came to this location on a Saturday afternoon and they were quite busy. But there was plenty of outdoor patio seating. I think one of the main things I was disappointed and was that I did not see the tables being sprayed down in between visit. In fact for the most part customers were busting their own tables as did I. Luckily I carry my own disinfectant around with me and so I was able to disinfect my table myself before sitting down. The food was decent, probably a 3. But 2 stars overall for not being extra cautious during a pandemic.

We ordered the dougie burger, a regular cheeseburger, truffle fries, regular fries, Shiner Bock beer, and a sangria Dougie burger tasted great.. lots of flavor with the added egg Regular burger was just okay.. adding an egg makes a huge improvement in taste Truffle fries were good but needs more "truffle" Overall, price is pretty cheap for a burger restaurant ($7-$8 per burger) I'll definitely be coming back

Turkey and goat cheese salad - sub chicken instead of turkey
    Lori W.

This was really disappointing. The restaurant smells amazing and the staff was friendly and helpful. But this was the smallest salad I've ever paid $10 for. It's supposed to have spiced pecans in it, and I counted 5 of them. I will say though that the greens were super fresh,, so that was good.. We also got an order of onion rings. 3. Three onion rings is an order. They're very large, but the breading doesn't stick well to them. I might be back for a burger next time, just to see if the experience improves.

This unassuming restaurant tucked in a corner of nondescript row of stores has stood the test of time. My first review of the place was in 2013. Here it is 13 years later then it is still going strong. I went for lunch with the family on a snow day. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table. No numbers, they just remember who you are. I always get combo number 1 and add sweet potato fries. The prices are great and not much more than McDonalds but the difference in value is significant. The burgers are not thick but this time I noticed the double burger (#2) is just a couple of bucks more than the the single patty in #1. Note to self for next time. Although the patty is thin, the flavors work. The burger comes with lettuce, tomato, onion, and mustard. No ketchup, you add that yourself. The bun with sesame seeds always comes out piping hot. Sweet potato fries are crispy and not greasy. The combo comes with a drink for $10.99. That's a deal. I hope they stay in business another 13 years!

The neighborhood may continue to change around it, but Chip's remains the same. My Overall Rating - 4 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Chip's has an old school, nostalgic feel. The restaurant has an iconic sloping roof with a yellow outdoor exterior and a big green sign with its logo. Inside, there are plenty of booths, a bar, and even outdoor seating. Chip's has grown and expanded over the years but to me that adds to the nostalgic charm. 1 Star. Service - Chip's may have invented counter service. Upon entering, you look at the menu posted on the wall and place your order. You'll get a number (or they'll ask for your name), and you grab a table, and when your food is ready it comes out. Fast, efficient, and the staff was super friendly. 1 Star. Food - Chip's is known for its poppy seed hamburger buns. While it's pretty and tasty, the most important part, the patty, is pretty average. Honestly, there are many other great burger joints in Dallas. On the other hand, the fried onion strings are a must order for your side. While I wasn't a fan of the burger, the fried onion strings saved my meal. The Oreo and Fresh Banana shakes were also a nice cold, creamy, sweet ending to my meal. 1 Star. Will I Return? - Yes. I hope Chip's never changes. The restaurant has an iconic look, it's part of Dallas history, and the staff is great. 1 Star.

Once they were less volcanic, they were good. We split a burger with fried onions, and it was dry. The meat was overbooked, the bun was over toasted, and the whole thing needed plenty of beer to go down smoothly. The fries are fine, and we did appreciate that they had some steamed broccoli on the menu. Our daughter was happy with her kids cheeseburger meal, and she did like the chocolate-caramel malt shake she scored at the end. A main reason that we're landing on three stars is the ice cream situation.
