This review is only based on their breakfast burritos. Yesterday we ordered a sausage burrito and a veggie burrito to go. They were the worst, we've ever had. Absolutely terrible. I don't know if we'd return for their other breakfast foods, but we certainly won't order the breakfast burritos again. We only ate one fourth of them, then dumped the rest of them. What an amazing experience we had at Village Cafe from beginning to end! My husband, 3 toddlers and myself went in and got sat right away. Service was exceptional, food was amazing and the inside of this restaurant was so clean and cute! My husband and I split the Reuben and they were nice enough to split it for us into two separate plates. We also ordered The Duke which was my favorite, you can taste the fresh ingredients and it was full of flavor! For our side we upgraded to French toast and my kids had the 2x2x2 (2 eggs, 2 bacon and 2 blueberry pancakes) we all enjoyed and devoured everything! I was promptly greeted by a smiling-faced woman as I walked into Village Cafe. As I am from out-of-town, I was looking for a different breakfast restaurant on the same street (which was recommended by Yelp) but despite driving up and down I couldn't find it. When I saw VC packed with large tables of customers, I figured it was as good a recommendation for the food! I wasn't wrong! I had the Chicken Verde Skillet (Wednesday special). The chicken was caramelized and juicy, the red and green bell peppers tender, the red onion tasty, the salsa verde savory without burning my mouth and whole avocado slices and sour cream on top complemented it perfectly! Although I am not a bread or potato fan, the fried potatoes were delicious and perfectly tender, and the rye toast was just the right amount of crispy brown. The coffee was coffee and it was hot and plentiful - flavorful when amended appropriately with the International Delight and sweetener provided. I like that the table was abundantly supplied with all the necessaries (utensils, condiments and napkins) to use at my discretion. And the ever present hum of happy patrons lasted throughout my breakfast. I can say with confidence, this is a place I will visit again if I have a chance. 11/13/22 It's Sunday almost noon & wanted a good ole fashioned breakfast spot with no frills. So we headed to the Village Cafe. Maybe because it's lunchtime & they looked fairly busy or maybe the process in the kitchen is a bit off but it certainly lacked its usual luster. The server who approached us didn't particularly look happy to be there (again, maybe an "off day" for her as well). It took some time for anyone to acknowledge us & take our order so it gave me time to watch & take a pulse at the environs. I ordered a chicken fried steak w/ scrambled eggs with well done home potatoes & hubby ordered a Soyrizo burrito. Of course I opted for sourdough toast because theirs is USUALLY awesome.....not today. At the very least my chicken fried steak was pretty good (definitely way better than Polly's) & my eggs were hot & fluffy good. I usually enjoy the perfectly toasted sourdough bread but today was a miss. It didn't taste as fresh as it usually does. It looked like a team effort because everyone else dropped by instead of our server to attend to us. My home potatoes were not so awesome (because I had it here before & they were perfect). I stopped by a few months ago for a quick brunch with a friend. On a Saturday late morning, we waited about 30 minutes, which wasn't bad at all. Once seated, the service was attentive, quick, and friendly. We appreciated the drink options, and enjoyed the mimosas. I'll start off with what was good... the prices! Especially the kids meal. $6 for a pancake, egg and bacon or sausage. My meal was only $9 for 2 bacons, 2 eggs and 2 pieces of French toast. The food was good. Since I ordered a pretty basic meal, not sure how fancy they could go. Ambiance was cute. Place was very clean. Food came out quick, and while we were seated, it wasn't the most welcoming of an environment. The food is delicious and so grateful to the cooking staff and lovely and kind waitresses who greeted me and my friend. However, it was very upsetting to witness who I assume is the the owner the lady with the red hair talked to her employees and has a very negative and dark energy around her.. she looks like a very miserable person.. I over heard her talking to one of her waitresses very inappropriately becuse of her facial reactions and body language and you can tell this made her employee uncomfortable.. and it's really disgusting for any business owner to treat their employees with disrespect and intentionally cause harm by making them feel uncomfortable. Nice cafe with a steady breakfast crowd. Today was my second time there in as many weeks. Wait time is typically 45 mins so either go early or be prepared to wait. On the downside was a 3 1/2 percent charge for using credit card, which I didn't know until after it was run. I am in retail so I understand the crunch but we don't do that - and would have appreciated the server telling me. Review as of 6/29/23 I haven't been to Village Cafe since 2019 I believe and definitely has been remodeled. Also now apparently a new owner as well. The old booths are long gone and definitely alot more room than before. Parking on street and parking available as well next to the cafe. As shown on photos, beautiful seating outside with ample shade. My dad and I ordered the Big Skillet and I had them remove the onions. I liked my skillet, but my mom prefers the hash browns crispier and not mushy underneath the eggs and sausage. Sourdough was super tasty and exactly as I would like my sourdough, some cafes have "cheap" sourdough, just straight up white bread tasting. Don't forget that peach jam!! YUM !My mom had substituted to no bacon and had cooked spinach underneath her over medium eggs which she enjoyed. My mom gave this. a 3 out of 5 because she asked if she can opt for spinach verses bacon, and when we received the bill she was annoyed. The server did her best to rectify and instead of stressing over giving her a dollar less, she gave us the bacon as it came with the meal. Honestly, customer service as I have been in this industry, a dollar off is no biggie. The server was lucky that I liked bacon. I still gave them a 4 because the pancakes were delicious, not dense and not too spongy, if you know what I mean. The prices were decent and I think $13 was not bad for spending on a breakfast meal verses going to IHOP where one can spend $15-19 dollars for a breakfast plate. Just picked up my soy chorizo breakfast burrito, and I had asked to swap out the salsa for Spanish sauce and to ADD sour cream IN my burrito. Didn't realize I was going to have to diy it myself‍. I got the sauce and sour cream as sides. Why would I want ingredients that go in the burrito as sides?? Seems like they forgot and this was their lazy solution. Not what I asked for, not trying to open up my burrito and put it back together. It's never the same when you have to do this, it ends up being a loose burrito. The extra steps are not appreciated when I'm starving and trying to eat right away. The potatoes were also super dry. Would have been better if they had time to be mixed in with the sauce and sour cream like I had asked. read more

We were visiting here from Arizona and we brought our dog so we wanted a pet friendly location so our dog could come with us. We were only here a week but this place had such amazing breakfast that we came back a second time. The service was amazing, there was no wait for a table, the tables and silverware were spotless upon arrival, the staff were attentive & they also gave us space to enjoy our meal. Our 3 year old daughter also loved the food and the dog had plenty of space to relax and be out of other guests/staffs way. Food Review: To start off, just go and try their pancakes!! I absolutely loooove their hotcakes and I always compare other ones to this place because it's my favorite!! I recommend the Two Two Two, it's a great value for the amount of food you get, and I definitely recommend upgrading your pancakes to the blueberry pancakes! My boyfriend has tried their omelettes and the Machaca and Eggs and both were very delicious and filling! This is my Dad's go to breakfast spot. It is very small. There is often a wait. They are only open for breakfast and lunch. There are new owners. Thankfully they kept the food. This is my first time eating inside since they did their remodel. In terms of being busy it's hit or miss. As I write this it's Sunday morning around 9-10am and we were able to immediately grab a booth, but there will be times you'll come here and there will be a bunch of people waiting outside to be seated. The ambiance is very diner-esque on the inside with nice lighting, and brand new looking booth furniture. There are about seven 6 seater booths, four 2 seaters and about 8 single seats up at the "bar" area. As far as breakfast goes, it's solid, with a nice selection of everything you would typically want. I opted for the Denver Omelette minus cheese, with a side of tomatoes, avocado and bacon. Delicious just as I remember it. I can see why they have lasted so long and I plan to return more often. read more
