The food is delicious and so grateful to the cooking staff and lovely and kind waitresses who greeted me and my friend. However, it was very upsetting to witness who I assume is the the owner the lady with the red hair talked to her employees and has a very negative and dark energy around her.. she looks like a very miserable person.. I over heard her talking to one of her waitresses very inappropriately becuse of her facial reactions and body language and you can tell this made her employee uncomfortable.. and it's really disgusting for any business owner to treat their employees with disrespect and intentionally cause harm by making them feel uncomfortable. So for that I will not be coming back again and will tell my friends and family members what I witnessed. read more

Nice cafe with a steady breakfast crowd. Today was my second time there in as many weeks. Wait time is typically 45 mins so either go early or be prepared to wait. On the downside was a 3 1/2 percent charge for using credit card, which I didn't know until after it was run. I am in retail so I understand the crunch but we don't do that - and would have appreciated the server telling me. We came here for a Saturday during the Second Saturday Village Shop. AMBIANCE: Parking: Street parking, neighborhood parking, and plaza parking. You shouldn't have any issues. Seating: Inside seating like a class 1950's cafe with group seating and solo seating. Also outdoor seating for COVID-19 protocols. Feels: The spot is not in the touristy side of Long Beach just your neighborly spot with local businesses serving the community. Not the most cleanest place but it seems like a busy and fun place, especially for skaters. There is a pair of pizza wings which was... pretty creative. FOOD: Reuben Sandwich + Side (Recommended) Yes. Yes. Yes... What's not to love about a classic Reuben sandwich. Good amount of sliced corned beef, sauerkraut, and 1000 island. The bread was fresh and crunchy. We got fries which complimented it well. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Kat was awesome. Attentive and friendly. TL; DR OVERALL: 4.5 Stars. Just picked up my soy chorizo breakfast burrito, and I had asked to swap out the salsa for Spanish sauce and to ADD sour cream IN my burrito. Didn't realize I was going to have to diy it myself‍. I got the sauce and sour cream as sides. Why would I want ingredients that go in the burrito as sides?? Seems like they forgot and this was their lazy solution. Not what I asked for, not trying to open up my burrito and put it back together. It's never the same when you have to do this, it ends up being a loose burrito. The extra steps are not appreciated when I'm starving and trying to eat right away. The potatoes were also super dry. Would have been better if they had time to be mixed in with the sauce and sour cream like I had asked. read more

Food Review: To start off, just go and try their pancakes!! I absolutely loooove their hotcakes and I always compare other ones to this place because it's my favorite!! I recommend the Two Two Two, it's a great value for the amount of food you get, and I definitely recommend upgrading your pancakes to the blueberry pancakes! My boyfriend has tried their omelettes and the Machaca and Eggs and both were very delicious and filling! I usually don't like brewed coffee from breakfast joints, but theirs has to be the best one yet! The coffee tasted just as great as the food! They also have coffee outside for you while you wait!! We were visiting here from Arizona and we brought our dog so we wanted a pet friendly location so our dog could come with us. We were only here a week but this place had such amazing breakfast that we came back a second time. The service was amazing, there was no wait for a table, the tables and silverware were spotless upon arrival, the staff were attentive & they also gave us space to enjoy our meal. Our 3 year old daughter also loved the food and the dog had plenty of space to relax and be out of other guests/staffs way. We are all picky eaters so the fact that we all loved the meal says a lot from us. Thanks and we will see you on the next trip. read more

This is my Dad's go to breakfast spot. It is very small. There is often a wait. They are only open for breakfast and lunch. There are new owners. Thankfully they kept the food. This is my first time eating inside since they did their remodel. In terms of being busy it's hit or miss. As I write this it's Sunday morning around 9-10am and we were able to immediately grab a booth, but there will be times you'll come here and there will be a bunch of people waiting outside to be seated. The ambiance is very diner-esque on the inside with nice lighting, and brand new looking booth furniture. There are about seven 6 seater booths, four 2 seaters and about 8 single seats up at the "bar" area. As far as breakfast goes, it's solid, with a nice selection of everything you would typically want. I opted for the Denver Omelette minus cheese, with a side of tomatoes, avocado and bacon. Delicious just as I remember it. I can see why they have lasted so long and I plan to return more often. read more

This is a great breakfast spot. For more reasons than the food. Rudy, one of the bussers, is just great. Super friendly. Very attentive. Makes sure everyone has coffee. He goes above and beyond all day. Second. The staff is friendly to everyone. Case in point. As I was walking out a dirty homeless man approached the restaurant. The owner? Manager? Walked right out. "Hi Jon... how can I help you today?" He went around the side of the building to wait while she got him something. Kindness. Good service. Good food. Support this place. read more

For the most part, they've been good reviews about the food and service until recently..Unfortunately I am not the only one that notices the uncomfortable vibes between the employees and the owners..Something is going on there and I've now noticed another waitress gone and she was one of my favorites. I've been going in there before this new owner and family took over and several people have left and I've heard it's because they didn't like working for her. I myself have heard her speak to her staff in a very rude and condescending tone. She snaps commands to them even when they are waiting on customers..Once, I came in with my usual group and the waitress that served us had clearly been crying but did her very best to provide us great service..Does the owner not know that good Service is one of the reasons people might come to her establishment? I go out to breakfast several times a week as do many of my friends; we discuss places we like to eat and believe it or not I've heard many negative comments about Village Cafe...they say they feel the rude uncomfortable vibe. There is only one of the original waitresses still there, I wonder how long before she leaves too.. There's plenty of good restaurants in the area so I've decided she doesn't need my business. Came to this place really excited although we did not have a great experience. Our food was cold and not good. My chai drink was extremely watered down as well as my husband's drink. The jelly was in little to go containers and it was a very low serving. The busser was honestly the best experience out of coming here. Really reasonable prices for good size portions in a cozy environment with pretty wall decor and good service. In today's economy eating here makes you think like you definitely got your money's worth. The toast for breakfast was slathered with a good amount of butter and a side cup of jelly where the toast was not dry and for me that's a plus. Their hamburger is a large burger. My daughter had to take the rest home so for a larger appetite it might be enough but still definitely filling. Their biscuits and gravy come with two good size biscuits and a lot of gravy. Their sausage links for breakfast are the real deal- forget Farmer John's frozen boxed links you get at the store. They are the size of a long fat finger with real casing and huge flavor. They have outdoor seating now too which is a nice option and means you get seated faster when it is really busy. Some of our favorites for breakfast are the omlettes, pancakes and French Toast.
