We had a great experience at The Pig. We wound up here because it was the only place still serving food late on a Monday. We originally sat outside but it started to rain so we moved inside. The ambience is dark and cozy, nothing chic - think "stars hollow". The wine list is super affordable, we had a bottle of Malbec for $30(!) which was great. I really enjoyed my steak but regretted not ordering at least a side of the garlic parm Mac and Chz, it was so good!

We had a good meal with good service. We sat outside and were able to push the tables together to accommodate our group which had 2 small kids and a dog. Very relaxed environment and no wait to be seated either.

Updating to 5 stars for the waitress Mae (May? - not sure on spelling). She needs a raise asap! Tables filled in quickly as I watched her take orders, make bar drinks and bring out food as if she wasn't in the weeds...maybe she wasn't, I know I would have been. She's a rock star.

If you're looking for something that is New York City like but with a relaxed atmosphere for any age this is the place. The food was so incredibly good that I was very surprised how a restaurant that I went to last week that was double the price didn't taste half as good. Nothing not to like. atmosphere people and food is great. can't go wrong.

We ordered a burger covered with cheese, mushrooms, and onions as well as the portabella, goat cheese, and spinach quesadilla. They're open 7 days a week 4p-midnight. The burger was the smallest I've ever seen! It had the smallest piece of cheese, about 3 slivers of onions, and about 3 pieces of bacon about an inch long. The quesadilla was barely pan-seared and bland.

Although Poughkeepsie has a decent variety of excellent restaurant options, there aren't a lot of upscale places to select from. We opted to book reservations for Brasserie 292 for a Saturday night. When we arrived, we were nearing the end of the dinner rush. We were sat right away, unfortunately it wasn't all too romantic being sat in the middle of the restaurant but understandably the restaurant is on the smaller side. The waiter was attentive, and addressed any of our questions about the menu, even hunting down the bottle of pinot noir we ordered. We opted to start off our night by splitting a half-dozen oysters which came with their in-house hot sauce, and an order of pouple, which was cooked to perfection. For our entrees we selected the red wine braised lamb shank and the dry aged prime NY steak. Since sides for both entrees were not mentioned on the menu, we also ordered sides - wild mushrooms, brussels sprouts and crispy smoked peewee potatoes. Overall the food was excellent and I'm still dreaming about the mushrooms. If we lived locally, would we go back, maybe but overall we had a great experience. Since this was an upscale restaurant, I opted to not photograph our meals and enjoyed being present in the moment.

But I'm giving 4 stars because what I DID have was really good! I don't see it on the online menu so it may have been a special -- but they did a mushroom/vegetable risotto, which was flavorful and the perfect size to not overwhelm. If I can find out whether this is part of the regular menu, I'll return just for that! Service was great -- we were going to an event at the convention center, and could walk from there. So if you're going to something at the convention center and want a nice meal (especially date night) ahead of time, I'd suggest checking this place out.

I was searching for something that could match up to Maison Bar Vins back home. First off can we talk about the bones of the place. The Taft building which once was a hotel now sits and houses a very charming French restaurant with a chef who could care less who you are or if your camera is permanently to your hand. I sat at the bar and the chef seated me. I opted out for their three course pre fix bar menu. Chef and owner Vincent who had trained under ICONS in the culinary world met me with this good old fashion old school attitude that today's foodie influencers could never understand. Serious poised stern energy that I love so much about old world cooking boh lore. The food was great. The playlist was upbeat, the kitchen had energy. The "petit" portions and prices here are out of control and should be an embarrassment. As an example: The family next to us was a great example of starving children--first world edition. I was thinking about augmenting my salmon dish with another dish, just in case I got hungry, but when the crêpe arrived to the table next to us, the young boy looked disappointed. It was tiny and apparently they are not made fresh because when I asked they said they only had one more. How does one run out of crepes? Maybe no more bananas or Nutella? After he finished eating it, he was scraping every sign of Nutella drizzle from his plate, and then I heard him say what I think all of us were feeling. "Mom, I'm still hungry" with which his mom asked the server for something else, and meanwhile, my husband and I looked at each other and smirked in accord. Our dishes (shown) were about $18 each and we did leave dissatisfied and still hungry. The quality of the food was very good, but two shrimp tacos with barely anything inside them was literally shameful and shocking, and my husband who had low blood sugar was hoping this would help but it did nothing. The place is undoubtedly charming, the servers wonderful and accommodating, but the food on a Sunday brunch needs to be reviewed, and attention must be paid to the fact that brunches are usually the first meal of the day for many, and with that people expect something substantial to kick off the day until dinner. Add another taco. And don't let us ask for more bread or another meal for another $18. It doesn't fly. If you want a hearty brunch I suggest another restaurant.

I ordered an old fashioned that came to the table red, and when I questioned the look the waiter assured me it was an old fashioned. Upon tasting it, it had the correct ingredients, but so little bourbon that the color and balance of the drink was off. Then, for the entrees, we both ordered the filet mignon au poivre. The steak was fine, as were the vegetables, but not worth $44 by any stretch. On top of that, the "frites" were clearly frozen rather than freshly made. The waiter was nice, and we enjoyed the ambiance. But we were blown away by the gap in quality of the food and its cost. When you visit French restaurants you expect a certain tier of cuisine that Brasserie seems to be emulating on the surface but swinging and missing on in reality. Not worth the visit unfortunately. Try elsewhere and you'll undoubtedly be more satisfied.
