Clean and well maintained. Friendly greeting by hostess. I had a medium glass of good pulpy orange juice and an omelette. I chose a spinach and bacon with Swiss cheese and Hollandaise. As add ons I had avocado, sour cream, and spicy salsa. There were crispy hashbrowns and an English muffin on the side. All I all it was a good solid breakfast. I like the unusual addition of hollandaise, it kicked my breakfast up a notch. We don't always eat a meal here. Although we have, this is more a dessert stop. The pies are alway delicious and of consistent quality. Today our stop was for slices of Apple/Cranberry Lattice (1 of their seasonable pies) and Lemon Supreme pie. As expected they were delicious with excellent flavor and just the right size for dessert. Very disheartened..we went with family today to visit as we always do. To our surprise, one of the best waitresses is no longer there. We were told that the president of the company fired her even though she had no write ups or any issues with anyone there. However, there is an arrogant, rude, and inappropriate server there that has many write-ups and is still working there? Wrongful termination? Discrimination? I don't understand why you would want to run your company this way. Unfortunately, we will no longer be going back and will ensure that we tell everyone that we know to stay far away from this place. This isn't about your restaurant, but one of your waiters. I'm very old, and my granddaughter is helping me write this. I want people to know about the type of people you have working for you. Me and my wife go to Village Inn every Sunday that we can, and we always tell them to let Edward be our waiter. He always greets us with a smile and calls us his friends. I say that because we have limited means, and we can't always tip but he still gives us a huge smile and great service. Last night, we went to eat at Sadie's across the street from your restaurant, and we saw Edward eating there when the girl was taking us to our table. We stopped and said hi to him and he stood up and treated us like family. He then told our waiter that he was paying for our bill. We said he shouldn't do that, and he said it was his treat. We were going to share a plate, and he said there was a two-for-one coupon and we better eat good and take some home. Although he always has a huge smile when he sees us, we sometimes wondered if it was just his job. He wasn't on your clock last night, and he still treated us with the same dignity and respect he treats us with on Sundays. That says a lot about the people you have working for you, and it says a lot about him. Brought two visitors in town for Balloon Fiesta on four separate occasions and had great breakfasts every time, with excellent service to boot! Nice clean surroundings including banquettes for really comfortable seating which encouraged us to linger over our final cup of coffee. Eggs Benedict was served hot with plenty of Hollandaise on the side. Corned Beef Hash was good, and a nice complement to a couple eggs served over-medium. Hot coffee in our own thermal carafe was also a nice touch. Note- the various pancakes which we enjoyed, including pumpkin (yummy) were cooked through, fluffy and tasted homemade. I ordered in via Uber the order process and delivery time was very convenient! My food arrived very warm. I ordered the VIP meal with pancakes, strawberry crepe, 1/2belgian waffle and scrambled eggs and 2 strips of bacon the bacon was tasty but it was thin cut so alittle crunchy. My scrambled eggs and hashbrowns were very good. My favorite was the strawberry crepe it was so refreshing, light and delicious the pancakes were decent and did not like the waffle at all, it wasn't a Belgian style waffle as advertised. Village Inn is a dying breed of restaurants and with good reason. Why eat here when there are better breakfast spots? We thought it'd be a good idea to eat here for the crepes, but when we arrived it became apparent this was a bad idea. The host took over ten minutes to get us a table even though several were vacant. Our waitress got the order wrong. Water went empty almost the entire time. My strawberry crepe was tough. The corned beef was dry and tasteless. The oatmeal was okay. A different waitress came over to help us get the check after waiting and waiting. At the end of the day, many of us grew up going to chains like this and there's a certain nostalgia about them. Times have changed though and I won't be back. read more

There aren't many 24-hour places in ABQ, so it was much appreciated that this Village Inn was alive and kicking at 11:30 PM at night on our first day of arrival. We were starved because American Airlines is way too broke to provide a bag of pretzels, so at that point we were kind of han-gry (hungry + angry)! We drove off in our Avis rental car and lo and behold was this Village Inn close to the Sunport airport like a food mecca for late travelers like us. We were more than happy to have dropped in for a quick and satisfying meal. This Village Inn is spacious and clean, and the service is friendly and speedy. I had the most delicious Garden Veggie Omelette which comes with a side of fruit and get this.................... pancakes (http://www.villageinn.com/menu/)! That is unheard of, at least to a New Yorker, that if she wants pancakes with her omelette, would have to have ordered it separately for sure. My fiance ordered this juicy-looking burger, and we were both really happy with the food and overall experience here. They are apparently famous for their pies, so we had to indulge, of course. We had a slice of pumpkin pie, and though no revelations were made, it was a pretty decent slice of pie. Perfect for the season. The prices at the Village Inn are very reasonable. I was stunned that my omelette meal came with the fruit and the pancakes. I can't recall, but I want to say that was under $10!? Can't really ask for more. If I'm ever going to Albuquerque ever again, I am absolutely going back to this Village (Inn). read more

We absolutely LOVE VI especially the one on San Mateo. My boyfriend and I have been proud regulars at this location for almost 5 years and we will continue coming to village inn until we are old and gray! The staff is phenomenal and always makes our visits amazing!! It's one thing when you go to a place so much that the staff starts to recognize you, but Charles (the manager) is now our friend and makes sure we are well taken care of! We love Linda and all of the other servers at VI! I've said it in my reviews before, but I am a picky eater and my boyfriend is even worse. Charles and the VI crew always take care of us! They have our order memorized (we literally get the same thing every time we visit) and they make sure it is made to our exact orders. Alex always gets the all world double cheeseburger and I always get the avocado chicken sandwich. They are THE BEST!!! Yum! My mouth is watering just thinking about it. They treat us like we are family there! The restaurant is always clean, the staff is incredible, the food always comes out on time, our drinks are always filled, and we always have a great experience every time we are there. We have been to other Village Inn's around ABQ and in CO, but none of them compare to the hospitality of the San Mateo location. We will forever be proud VI regulars! read more

Employees are friendly, food is okay. A little expensive in my opinion, but, you can basically sit there getting drink refills and use the wifi until 1 am. Sometimes the other customers make it a little unpleasant. One lady just complained about her food, the bacon, eggs, etc. being burnt, to the point where she said that it hurt the roof of her mouth to eat the potatoes, when asked how her food was. She didn't say anything while she was eating it. She didn't want a replacement, or anything like that. She and her companion were given a free piece of pie each. She asked for a to-go box for the pie. Later I was talking to the waiter about it, who said she did that regularly. She is going to get free pie when she eats there, not just on Wednesdays. I don't really understand this. I like cole slaw, but their cole slaw is truly terrible, inedible terrible. I don't eat it, and I never tell them how terrible it is. read more

I have to say that I didn't used to like Village Inn but I have taken a liking to it over these past many months. I consistently eat here with my father and we always have had good service and food. They cook your meal to order, there is rarely a wait and the waitstaff are professional, friendly and competent. Visited this Village Inn with my wife and a friend. Our lady friend and I both ordered the Cobb Salad and they were horrible. The greens and veggies were OK (though sparce for $10.29), but the chicken was - literally - like rubber and some pieces as hard as a rock. After finding a manager, the replacement chicken tasted like cardboard and like it had been microwaved. I had to get up and physically carry this replacement "food" to the top manager because neither our waiter or the other manager ever came back to check on us. Then, the top manager said she was going to fix things and offered to comp ONE salad because I had eaten most of mine. I told her I did so because I just don't like to complain and I was willing to chew through the chicken while my friend could not. Ultimately, she comped both but even after all that did not take off the total price of both salads. To be fair, my wife had a Pastrami sandwich and a cup of soup which she said were very good. We went to Village Inn because we had gone to other ones on Wednesday nights for food and and a free piece of pie which are pretty good. I love this village inn. They always have great service at this particular location. I believe a lot of managers train here which is why. The servers are almost always excellent, especially Sylene and Britney. The food is always delicious and cooked to perfection. I love the pancakes and their breakfast options. My boyfriend and I were looking for a sit down place that was cheap and near by and open at 9:30, so we headed to Village Inn. We were seated quickly. Our server had to have been the nicest, most normal waiters I've been served by at an all night breakfast place (usually such a colorful bunch). Everyone in the dining room was spread out so the weirder patrons and the normal people all had comfortable distance. Their dining room is overwhelmingly tan. It dates the place a lot, which I think detracts from the atmosphere. I had the strawberry creeps. They always please, but the bacon tastes like the kind that's ready made that you can nuke in the microwave. My boyfriend had the Bacon and Cheese Skilled. It was unremarkable. I came in here at about 1:00 pm on a Tuesday afternoon. It wasn't busy, everything looked clean. Sat down and was greeted by a nice lady who happens to be from the east coast which brings back great memories. I got the reuben with fries and it was really good. Cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The only problem I had was the iced tea, it tasted a little off, like it was old or something. Overall this place was really good.
