    German beer of course!
    Michelle B.

Food is always great, service sometimes lacks though. For example we walked in and stood there for about 4 minutes before someone came out to say hello and seat us. If you can get past that this is absolutely a great German place to come enjoy. Great beer as well

Makes me sad to write this, but my once favorite German, this place spot seems to have fallen victim to the high costs and overall changes in the industry. I can't place my finger in it, but our favorite dishes just didn't seem what they once were. Also, at one time every meal came with the house salad. This is the one thing I look forward to the most when coming here. If I would've known this, I would have ordered completely differently. I also have to say, it's still fairly off putting when it's urged to make a reservation when it's 4:30pm and the restaurant is fairly empty. We came on a whim because we love this restaurant. This is not to say the food is not good. It's still tasty, and the portions are very large. The one major complaint I have was our stuffed pretzels were very burnt. The pretzels that came out prior to our apps and meals were much better. They also did not have my favorite German chocolate cake. Not sure if they were out, or they don't feature it anymore, but this was so disappointing. Their cake is my absolute fav and Hubs got a whole one for me for my birthday one year. At least I hope it still is my favorite. With the bakery gone, I'm not sure if they are still making their cakes in house. It was actually our first time sitting in the area that was once their bakery. They did a great job of making this part of the restaurant cohesive with the original space. Still feels like we went to the old country for a bit. Our service was great although be prepared to wait a while for your food. It's made to order. Are we running to go back....not sure if we are anymore, maybe I'll have to because I still miss my salad.

Came back to the lindenhurst area to see A show so we had to stop by the Village Lantern because I wanted to get the Stuffed Cabbage w schnitzel. Come to find out, it isn't on the menu anymore! Big dissapointment. So I got the pounded veal crusted and fried with the schnitzel. My partner got the Meatballs with the egg noodles and gravy. The Meatballs were our least favorite. Guess we'll have to find another place that makes authentic Stuffed Cabbage.

A lovely liter of Hofbräu hefeweizen.

I love German food, and had been to the Village Lanterne once before, for my birthday dinner in 2013, and really enjoyed it, but for whatever reason hadn't gotten back there. Our fencing club recently had a club lunch at the Village Lanterne's beer garden so I got to try them out again. I noticed they offered a special platter called "The Schwab," which included sauerbraten, jägerschnitzel, weisswurst, spaetzle and red cabbage. Now, before I was born, my German grandparents used to teasingly call each other "Schwab" (my late grandpa Ludwig actually was a Swabian from Oberstdorf), so of course I had to order this, and it was grand. I didn't need to eat any dinner! Also shared some fine potato pancakes with a clubmate. Washed it down with a lovely liter of Hofbräu hefeweizen. The biergarten is pretty (though make sure you get one of the shaded tables), and the service was friendly.

Ok hands down ....best German restaurant I've been to in years! Food was fantastic from start to finish every appetizer and entree one better than the next. The live music was so fun first time I can ever say I've seen anyone play Metallica, and kiss played on an accordion. We had a large party and the accommodated us with great service. Can't wait to go back this summer s the most fun I've had at a restaurant in forever.

Holy Schnitzel this place is amazing!!! I am in town for work and always like to find local/ interesting places for dinner and had to check this place out. I sat at the bar and the bartender was great! Wednesday nights all of their Schnitzel nights... "I don't give a Schnitzel" So I had to obviously get the Reuben schnitzel and omg was it incredible! The restaurant transports you into a restaurant in Germany and is adorable. There is also live music!

The staff are so lively and wonderful! Food portion was huge and definitely needed a to-go box. The drinks and beer options were plenty and tasty. Definitely glad this caught our eye and popped in. It was an over great experience, around great people.

Came here in a Thursday night with my brother and a friend. Was able to get seated even though we didn't have a reservation- very busy. Very nice waitress with some great recommendations. She recommended the Reuben Eggrolls which were amazing. My friend ordered the Wiener Schnitzel, my brother the Rouladen, and I got the Angry Mike's Schwabie Platter. Food was great. Can't wait to come back again.

Stopped in for New Years and was very impressed! I've never had sauerbraten before but was blown away by it! Might be my favorite German food now. All the other appetizers and dinners were also great! Also, if you like beer, this place does not disappoint!

    What about parking?

Parking for this location is either metered out front on Wellwood or in any of the municipal lots behind it. There is also free side residential street parking. Just make sure there aren't any extra signs that say only certain days/times.

Do they have a accordion player?

I've been there on a Friday night and they have a polka band that goes from section to section. It's a lot more fun than it sounds actually.

Food and service did not disappoint and the restaurant was well-decorated for Christmas too :) Yes, meals are a bit on the pricier side but portions are generous and (as someone who LOVES German food), I have to say the jagerschnitzel and sauerbraten were spot on! We started off with the obligatory Bavarian pretzel, which is cooked to order and easy to share around for a family of four. We also ordered a bowl of their onion soup which had a surprisingly flavorful broth and was delicious down to the very last scoop. It was a nice departure from some variants where once you pierce through the top cheese layer, you're eating boring beef broth. I wish the family well (believe they're retiring and trying to sell the business) and maybe keep my fingers crossed new owners will keep up the German cuisine!

We started off with appetizers- which are really great for sharing- perogies for the Hubby and I had the liver dumpling soup- both were fantastic. Hubby had the German mixed salad with his meal, the special was sausage with both chicken and pork Schnitzel and potatoes, I had the sauerbraten with potatoes and we both had a side of the sauerkraut. We took a To-Go of the stuffed chicken breast with mozzarella and spinach and soup, with broccoli and an order of perogies. 2 Root beers, and he had the apple strudel and I ordered the Bienenstich. Our server was Karen- I want to give a huge thank you to her, she was an absolute delight, sweet, friendly and made sure our dinner was perfect, she is wonderful and next time we come for dinner, we hope she is our waitress. Food was incredible, I have not had "family" style German food in probably 13 years if not longer- I used to eat all the time at Alpine Village in Torrance Ca and at Phoenix Club in Brea Ca- both I was a long time foodie at, and never had a bad meal! It is so great to know that Sebastian's is our new place for delicious German food. Dinner for the 3 was roughly $180.00, but before you say "that's a lot", the food is delicious, the wait staff is amazing and both my husband and I gladly pay good money for fantastic food, like what we had here at Sebastian's.

This is a nice little pub and bar in Atlantic Beach just outside of Long Beach, NY. We went here after visiting the Irish festival for the weekend. We decided to get dinner here and chill and enjoy the live entertainment that was outside. When we walked in, we were seated right away. Our waitress was very professional in taking our orders and making sure we got everything we asked for. She checked in on the table in a timely manner too. I ordered the crispy pork, my wife had the cod sandwich, and my friend had a sandwich as well. All the food was fresh and cooked just right. Everything was delicious too. We were very happy with our food. It is a little on the pricier side, but it's definitely worth the price you pay. This is a German food must stop place. I had a group dinner here for my parents and my boyfriend's mother to meet for the first time. This is perhaps not the perfect location for this type of thing, as it was extremely loud in the restaurant. I ordered the goulash and kasespaetzle. The goulash was rich, well seasoned and filling. The spaetzle was soft and creamy, covered in lots of flavorful aged cheese with salty bacon bits and sweet onion. A very rich dish. Although I didn't technically order an entree, I still found myself pleasantly full at the end of the meal. The rest of my dining companions ordered either the schnitzel or the wurstplatte. All seemed very pleased with their food, and some even had leftovers to bring home due to large portions. This restaurant is certainly a fun spot to come, reservations recommended. This place is the things you'd want in an outdoor Beer garden - casual eats in the Brat Haus and beers on tap. Not to mention the in-house private event space that does have air conditioning. Perfect for parties of 20-700! Says it on the website and I wouldn't have believed it until I saw it myself. This review is for The Hive restaurant specifically since that's where I had my meal. A beautiful bar with a Stein wall with lockers for patrons who wish to store them - you see that just past the host station. The indoor dining room just beyond. We started with the Wurst Sampler Platter. Think bratwurst, knackwurst, krainerwurst, and jalapeno cheddar bratwurst. I had no idea there were so many varieties and it was paired with the best potato salad I've ever had. Authentic and delicious sauerkraut to match. Also ordered the House-Cured Slab bacon, paired with a blackberry gastrique. Excellent choices I must say. For dinner, we just had to try the Schnitzel. Admittingly, it was hard to decide (all were veal options and there was one chicken option)! I chose the Champignon Rahmschnitzel and hubby got the Jager Schnitzel. Both were topped with sauce and mushrooms - but entirely different. The Rahmschitzel was breaded veal and had a white creamy mushroom sauce. So delicious! And the Jager one was pan-seared veal with a demi-glace sauce. Outstanding as expected...I was literally drooling at every plate that passed me by. Topped my meal with some hard cider and I was golden. Stuffed and happy! Plattduetsche Park is so rich in history and they have established roots in the community going back 100+ years (established in 1901). What a fantastic place to be - come for the great cuisine and the culture. No special occasion needed. (Reservations suggested for The Hive restaurant - opens daily starting at 3PM).
