    "cheese burger grinder"
    Steve G.

2/26/21 - We've been ordering from Village Pizza off and on for years. But today was the last time. We're done. The quality of the food has declined even more sharply than the prices have increased. Today was the last straw, no more chances. We ordered a pizza and two grinders: a (half) tuna, hot, and a (whole) cheeseburger. The tuna was cold. Hey, mistakes can happen, but this is a recurring theme. The Cheeseburger grinder "is served with cheese, lettuce, and tomato" according to the menu. Mine was ordered with Provolone cheese as the cheese option. The grinder was delivered with what looks like maybe a single, grey-ish patty (obviously from frozen) that had been spread out to try and cover the length of the whole grinder, a small amount of Provolone that had melted away..... and nothing else on it...at all... nothing (see photo... how appetizing, what value!). For this "cheeseburger grinder" Village Pizza charged me $10.99. If they would have bothered to put the toppings on it, they probably could have hidden the sparse amount of anemic burger to a degree, but I guess that was too much to ask. This "cheeseburger grinder" illustrates exactly how much they care about their food, and how much they care about the customer paying for it.

Pizza pasta and salads There are bezillions of small pizza joints in Plainville and this one block must have at least a half dozen. Some are good, some not some good, but I guess it ultimately depends on the individual tastes of the person eating the pizza. Village Pizza is a small and kind of dumpy looking place from the outside. Certainly nothing about the building that is impressive or interesting but the inside is clean and nice enough, if somewhat spartan. The folks working there were efficient and pleasant if not exactly friendly. You get your pizza, pay and leave type of place. I suspect the vast majority of their business is take out. The menu is fairly large with lots of pizzas, pasta thingies, wings and salads. Nothing that really surprises you, pretty much what you would expect from a place like this. The veggie pizzas we ordered were quite good, not greasy and with lots of fresh veggies. Every sentient being in the universe probably has their own idea of what the perfect pizza is and and the very idea of the perfect pizza is probably an abstract idea that isn't obtainable in this reality. However if not perfect, everyone enjoyed the veggie pizzas and there were no complaints. Yes indeedy, there are a lot of pizza joints in this area and Village Pizza Restaurant is just one of the many. Certainly not perfect but it was good pizza, quick service at a good price. Not perfect but certainly good enough.

Every once in a while it's nice to have a pizza that isn't Greek style. Pizza tastes good.

This is the burnt calamari that they reheated with microwave.

Earned a solid 3 stars and although currently this won't be my go to place for all things pizza restaurant it is still an option for delivery. Very simple order which was a large sausage and onion pizza and an order of moooooze sticks. The sticks were pretty amazing. Like DD I give them a 4 out the door. haha If you know, you know. Good pull on the cheese and they were pretty tasty. Good quality sticks at an ok price. The pizza was everything that a Greek pizza fan would enjoy in a Greek pizza. The crust was a decent thickness and actually quite tasty. It tasted seasoned honestly or it was just a really good crust. Either way I enjoyed it. The pizza itself looked like a box pizza from the store although I know it wasn't. Taste was alright too. Sausage was good but not nearly as flavorful as other pizza restaurants. Onion was very aromatic and the mozz cheese was really good. Not too greasy either. If I had to break it down I'd say the pizza was a solid 2.5 stars and the sticks 4 stars as I said earlier. I'm not a HUGE fan of Greek style pizza but I don't mind it at all. I've had much better pies from Pavilion, Hometown and Uncle Sam's within the general area. While this review doesn't paint the picture of a fantastic pie I will urge you to give this place a chance. Everything was fresh tasting and I think it's worth a visit for sure.

Within 3 mins, we hadn't even gotten a beverage order in yet, when one of employees, a kid himself, came over to tell us there was a complaint of noise from our table. 1st- the 2 year was playing with his cousin and let out an occasional screech, which we jumped on right away. 2- The noise level of the FAMILY restaurant was at a level where a normal conversation level wasn't happening. 3- A corner table with 3-4bl kids was continuously load...which was fine, they're KIDS. 4- An actual adult employee should have come over instead of at all. It's a shame that the 2 elderly gentlemen who decided to go a family restaurant on a Saturday didn't see exactly how quiet the 2 yr old got when the fried mozz came or when he and his cousin were watching something on a cell phone. Point is, the entire restaurant was loud, it's not a wide open space, there was no wildness or kids out of control going on and should never have been singled out simply because those old to foggys were behind us. We'll be back every 2 weeks as usual, but this was the first let down we've ever had.

Caesar salad was fine. Wings were odd, we got the sweet and smoky dry rub, which was essentially flavorless. The wings were lukewarm but fully cooked, making us think they had just been sitting in a warmer. They brought ranch instead of blue cheese and it took several minutes to bring blue cheese, while the wings only got colder. The pizza was some of the worst I've ever had. Super doughy, too much low quality cheese. We ate it because we had an event after and we didn't have time to go anywhere else. But it was not good. I was relieved it was only $8 due to happy hour pricing, normal price would have been $15!!?? I would have sent it back for that price. Our server was pleasant enough, but she seemed new and had to keep asking her manager every time we asked a question. They probably can't keep good servers because they aren't busy because their food is sub par. Just a guess. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere but here.
