I originally liked this dentist office. Reception is so friendly and kind. But hygienist will not state if she or the dentist are vaccinated. Which is fine and good, but if you are going to be putting your fingers in someones mouth, and breathing on them in very close proximity it is disgusting if you are not vaccinated. I think the whole office is in denial about COVID. I cancelled my apt and I will not be back. read more

After the horrific experience with SmileCare Dental, I am glad Dr. Mancheva is my dentist. I agree she is an honest dentist, unlike SmileCare. The staff is friendly and warm. I have had a few cavities fixed here, and come here for regular cleanings. I have never had any problems, everything always goes smoothly. If she finds a cavity, she can fix it the same day. Zanka Mancheva, DDS is unscrupulous and seems to care more about the bottom line than her patients. I went here because at the time the reviews were not so bad and she was very close. I had a dental HMO with my insurance, so I went in for a cleaning (never having had a cavity in my life). I called to make an appointment and they told me that I would need two appointments, the first for X-rays and consultation and the second for a cleaning. I booked both appointments at the same time. I went into the office and everyone was very nice. They took my X-rays and told me I had very strong teeth, healthy roots, no cavities, etc, but I had some recession in the gums and most likely clenched my teeth while sleeping. They said it would cost me around $2,000 to bond the teeth at the gum line and make a custom teeth guard, and none of it would be covered by my dental HMO insurance. While I do have some recession on the gums, I told them that I was not able to afford the extra work at this time, but would see them in a week for my cleaning. Their faces changed when I told them that and in a couple of days I received a letter from them telling me that they had dropped me as a patient and would not do the cleaning! I was shocked. I called the office and the receptionist (who was so nice at the beginning) said that the dentist dropped me because I did not agree with her diagnosis. I explained that it wasn't that I disagreed, but that I simply could not afford to do the work at this time. She did not care, just dropped me before I could even get my teeth cleaned. I then called my insurance to tell them what had happened and they told me they could change dentists, but that I would have to wait another month and at that time, I may have to start the whole process all over, including new X-Rays, etc before I could get a cleaning. I know the only reason they did this was to avoid the cleaning work, knowing that they would not get the $2,000 from me in extra services. So if you choose this dentist, be forewarned especially if you have HMO dental insurance and are planning to come in for a simple cleaning! It's too bad because right after this incident a commission check came in, I found an amazing dentist on Groupon and not only getting a fantastic cleaning ($35), but ended up going forward with most of the work that was originally recommended by Mancheva. Shame on you Zanka Mancheva, you give dentists a bad image. read more

Wow. I have never had such a phenomenal dental experience. It had been a long time since I could afford dental work and I was treated with so much honor and respect from the whole staff. I had never had a filling before and I felt so safe and cared for as she worked on my mouth. They explained everything going on as they did each step and I felt really cared for emotionally and psychologically, on top of being cared for physically. I had ZERO PAIN. She used a topical anesthetic and then shook my gum and applied pressure as she inserted the needle (this confuses the nerves, if you're wondering) and I felt zero pain. There was a slight bit of pressure, that's it!! I just want to run around and give everyone her card! read more

****AVOID****Dr. Mencheva has zero bedside manner and even less compassion. Any dentist that actually makes you feel worse is definitely best skipping. I needed some work done and once the front desk manager let me know that my insurance wasn't going to cover the work, which I did not know until I got there, Dr. Mencheva treated me like crap, knowing I couldn't come up with the 2,000 dollars worth of work, she provided no guidance; and was basically finished talking to me. Beyond rude; unscrupulous; and uncaring. There are plenty of dentists, do not go to this one. She's not just a bad dentist, she's an awful person. *****UPDATE: the 1200 dollar work, which was "30% off the 'regular' price I was quoted, and then treated like crap when I seemed surprised by it? I have always liked going to Dr. Mancheva's office, for the last 7 years or so. It has the feel of a family office, the way Gloria is so friendly and helpful, and Ceci, the cheerful hygienist, chats you up as she cleans. Dr. Mancheva is always friendly to me as well, and encouraging when she sees I have been taking good care of my teeth. A big plus: Gloria babysits for me when I visit, ever since my daughter was about 5 months old =-) It is nice to not have to drag along a family member to watch her... I am fortunate not to have any cavities in my life (knock on wood), but when I did have an issue (their x-rays revealed bone loss due to gum disease), they referred me to a good periodontist in Escondido (Dr. Tucker), who gave me a deep cleaning. With more frequent visits, Dr. Mancheva tells me my gums look better and the pockets have closed a bit. She and Ceci offer good advice on how to maintain my tooth and gum health. I hope I can stay with them for a while, they have always been very good to me. read more

If you have kids, don't bother with this office. With my HMO dental plan, my whole family must be assigned to one dental office. I like Dr. Mancheva and think she is a good dentist. However, her office policies make it next to impossible for me to bring my kids to this office. First, they will only see kids in the morning so I would need to take them out of school. Then they told me that they can't see both kids on the same day. I would need to miss work on two different mornings just to have their teeth cleaned. No, thank you. I'm a native from San Diego before I moved to Denver two years ago and spent 30 years living in North County. I found Village Square when living in Encinitas and was very pleased with every visit to their office and the level of service provided. it was always a joy to talk with Dr. Mancheva. In fact, my new wife and son started going there as well. I must say the review back in July about being dropped as a client is not the Dr. Mancheva I know. I seriously question the veracity of that story. She is very pleasant and professional. She has always been a straight shooter about what I need and never pressured me to have something done now, rather just presented the possible outcomes if I put off treatment and let me decide. I had the need for a crown and told her I didn't have the money at the time and certainly didn't have the experience of the other client, rather she fully understood. I had the crown done later there once I had the money. In fact, after going through my files recently I found an old statement from them for services they performed KNOWING there was a very low likelihood that my insurance would cover it. They told me in advance that my carrier was notorious for denying paying for this procedure before they did it, but that it was the right procedure to do. Village Square ended up eating the cost. The premise in the prior post that she is only about the buck is obviously not true. Looking at the angry tone in the prior post, I suspect this person accused Dr. Mancheva of insidious motives in some way about her diagnosis in front of her staff. I too would cut ties with an abusive client. Ironic that her diagnosis was spot on. Also, ironic that I logged on to make sure their address was the same, since I wanted to write them a check for those services they performed knowing they most likely wouldn't be paid for them. I honor that kind of client first business ethic. read more
