The shopping plaza that houses this restaurant is a very busy one. There is plenty of parking, but you may not be able to find a spot close to the eatery. The place has counter seating (with a bar?) and was a bit busy and bustling. There were 15 of us here on a week night for a special birthday dinner. We were given one main server who took all our orders: drinks, appetizers, and entrees. She had very little help and did most of it on her own. It was too much for one person; so, service was a bit slow. We found ourselves eating lots of bread just because we were hungry and needed our food. The first set of rolls that came out were hard as a rock. The second set was softer and more satisfying. We had appetizers that included steamed mussels and egg rolls. Both were good. The main dishes were all over the place with satisfaction levels. Notably, three orders of fish and chips were declared absolutely tasteless. The fish had a heavy breading and no flavor. A chicken dinner was palatable. The Cajun seafood fettuccine was good, so was the shrimp and mahi mahi scampi. There were several drinks ordered at the table and two sent back, including a strawberry daiquiri that came in a 3-inch-tall glass that didn't taste or look like a strawberry daiquiri. There were hits, and there were misses. But we expected better service and better food for the kind of money we spent.

    Cheers!

Guess what! I just found out Village Tavern has Happy hour every day 4-6:30 for wine (and they have Riesling!) and top shelf cocktails! What?? Yes now: don't crowd the space! I'm meeting my Bookclub tonight at the restaurant side... but I'm def coming back for some of those tasty Happy- bites at the bar: I mean tavern nachos $8? Firecracker shrimp tacos $9? Sounds like something worth trying! Plus the ambiance is super smooth and classy, service is prompt and great: I think this is an allaround win! See you there! Enjoy! UPDATED WITH: we ate over on the restaurant side and I have added some pictures of what was ordered. Everything looked delicious and the wine happy hour prices are valid all night long at the restaurant!! Go enjoy

Stopped in on a Tuesday night for dinner around 7:30 pm. There was a 20 minute wait and we got sat about 25 minutes later. We were sat at a large booth. We ordered a sangria and shrimp scampi and the butcher steak. The sangria was a bit too sweet, and the scampi could have used a little more salt and seasoning. The steak was yummy as were the mashed potatoes. The food did take a very long time to come out, as did the drink, which seems to be a pattern for this location.

It takes a Village to bring all the co-workers to Happy Hour but we succeeded and made it to the Village Tavern. Great choice! We had a large group and the staff was acommodating got us a table in a separate private area and promptly took our drink orders. Drinks were great from Margaritas to Dirty Martini and Aperol Spritz we started the Happy Hour with a bang while waiting for our appetizers. In no time, our appetizers arrived almost all at once which was great as we were all hungry. The bacon wrapped scallops were my favorite really tasty but the mussels and spring rolls were just as good too. The crab dip was ok. The artichoke spinach dip could use a bit less spinach and more artichokes. I left just when everyone else was about to order entrees. I'll have to come back to try dinner next time. Was my first time at The Village Tavern and overall was a nice experience. Restaurant has an elegant but casual vibe. Dimmed lights inside and very spacious. Outside seating area if you prefer outdoors. Staff was attentive and quick to bring our food and drinks.

Mostly like this place. Went specifically for their ooey, gooey French onion soup! One of the best around! Have also come just for their creamy, dreamy New England clam chowder. Atmosphere always pleasant. Servers are great...and this place gets busy! But, I have to say the whole dining experience would be so much more enjoyable if diners were not almost forgotten after meal is served and have to actively work on getting some attention to order dessert (Killer warm vanilla butter cake enough for 3 people) or request the bill! I know they are busy! But, please, know this detracts from the total experience. I sometimes hesitate to come here for this reason....but I do come back! And, sorry, we jumped into the cake before I could get a pic!

Went here for a big family dinner and it was nice. Ordered the Ten spice glazed Salmon with mash and asparagus. I could say it was ok, i feel like the mash could've been made a little thicker and with more flavor. Our waitress was great but felt like it was a lot for her since we were about 20 people putting in orders. When it came to the bill it was a bit of a hassle separating orders by groups since only 4 cards were being accepted. Overall it wasn't bad and if i return would try a different menu item.

I have never been to Village tavern for happy hour before and I am so shocked I haven't because it blew away my expectations! They have fantastic specials to include wines, and a ton of shelf alcohols on special. They also have a very spacious and inviting bar. It's dimly lit which is nice for a change and feels more welcoming. They also have a fantastic spread of food to order on HH as well!! To start off I got a bacardi and coke! Fantastic choice it was a nice level of intensity and a great deal. We then ordered lemon drop shots which came out very well too. For food I ordered the cheesesteak springrolls. Wow were they good!! They came sliced in half and they had a special sauce to dip them in. They were crispy and crunchy and tasted super fresh. I would order these every time I go! The nachos are also delicious and come with a large portion great for sharing as well. They have so many other foods I definitely want to try something different next time, but I loved what I ordered so it will be hard to switch. Can't wait to come back again soon! Really great experience and Happy Hour I cannot recommend enough!

the spring rolls were so good! They serve it with a salad and whatever they put on the salad was so good we ordered another one. The calamari and homemade chips were also very good. I also recommend the brick chicken

Butcher's Steak, sweet potato fries, and the shrimp scampi
    Tom C.

Always have a good experience every time I come here. Service was on point but not intrusive, and the place itself is very nice/cozy inside. Food here is always good, I opted for a Butcher's steak and shawty got the shrimp scampi. Both were awesome and they gave me a perfect medium rare on the steak. Definitely recommend, but it is a bit pricey if you get appetizers and drinks.

Brunch also on Saturday? Just found out only on Sunday.. not happy

Only on Sunday. We were upset the Saturday we went and they were closed.

    Can men wear shorts?

    Yep

Does the restaurant have a private room for events?

I have been there several times with a group (10+). There is not a separate room but they will use the area behind the hostess station or the area at the far right (facing the hostess station) against the windows. It's worked for my groups. Good…

    Is it dog friendly?

Yes they are welcome on the patio. I have a certified service dog, so I am allowed to bring him inside the restaurant. However, he is incredibly well behaved and trained so as to be nearly invisible. Our server didn't know we had a 105 pound…

    Opened Thanksgiving Day?

Sorry, they will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.

At what time is the happy hour on Monday?

Happy Hour is Monday thru Friday 4-7 pm...

    Do they have live music?

    No live music.

We were on our way back from our optometrist appointment and were starving. This place has been opened for a while and we never tried it. It was a Saturday afternoon and it was dead, which was great for a first time experience. We decided to sit at the bar, which is usually our preference. It was dark in there but it was daylight and the way the building is, it was like that with the previous restaurant as well. We were greeted shortly after sitting and offered menus. I decided on mimosas since it was a Saturday. Hubs went with a beer. As we were browsing the menu, we were struggling to decide on what to order so we ordered several items. I ordered the wedge salad and Brussel sprouts to start. Omg the Brussel Sprouts were so good! The wedge was tasty. I ordered a filet with bleu cheese and it was good. It was cooked the way I ordered. We enjoyed our food and definitely were not hungry when we left. I feel like the prices were a little steep but more reasonable than many other places. The place was clean and the bartender that served us was attentive.

I don't know if it's standard practice. From the looks of what would be the bar, I assume there is no liquor license. Many bottles of wine and limited beer options and no liquor bottles. The waiter said the owner doesn't serve cocktails tonight. ‍‍ The ice machine was broken. For the prices on menu items, there's no way that's acceptable. They could have brought in bags of ice, and we would have never known. We had no ice to go with our water and coke, and the beer was barely cool. Finally, we see bags of ice brought in and wasn't offered any. ‍‍ Tomahawk steak medium well was good, but I needed a little more seasoning. Mash potatoes tasted like freshly smashed potatoes and needed a little salt and butter, and the oyster mushrooms were a bit chewy with a charred taste. 3 Lamb chops were serves medium rare so it was requested to be well done then it was good, the spinach was bitter with no flavor and the rice tasted old as it was leftovers from previous day or days. Rice didn't taste freshly cooked at all. Bone in Ribeye medium rare was good with a Cesar salad that tasted strange. The Cesar dressing tasted like a blue cheese mixed with ranch and a vinegar. I don't know it just wasn't a good Ceasars dressing, and it was iceberg lettuce, not romaine. Overall, they prepared good steaks and good lamb chops, but they need to step it up on the sides. For the price of steak, they need to give a better portion and more than 3 lamb chops. For the quality of food it's an overpriced restaurant. Though the digital menu is up with technology, it's not truly functional. It's not user-friendly for older persons, and it had a glitch. They should consider a QR code. Overall, the ambiance is nice. The food was ok but overpriced. Stop in to support a small business. 1 issue I did have, the waiter didn't help us while ordering. My dad ordered rice with his lamb chops, not knowing that it came with rice, and the waiter said nothing. I was bothered, but 2 sides come with the steaks. My son didn't order any sides, so I requested that the rice be a side of my son's order. They corrected that with no problem. the spinach and the rice were removed from the bill. We moved to Georgia about a year and a half ago, which was a great move for us and we have truly loved our new home and hood, but the only thing we don't have in our new area is good Argentinian food. That's why when we got to town, we knew we were going to look specifically for a good churrasco. We discovered Alta Vaca Grill on Yelp near our airbnb and had it on our first night. Normally, hubby and I would split a steak but on this visit we each got our own and cleaned our plates. Alta Vaca definitely hit the spot! We each had a churrasco cooked medium with fries for me and rice for my husband. Every bite was music to my tastebuds! We loved it so much that when making dinner plans with friends a couple days later and the night before our flight back home, we knew we wanted to return to Alta Vaca one last time before leaving. I made a reservation for 8 and I'm glad I did because the space inside is somewhat limited and they were slammed. Despite the place being jam packed and us being a large party, our server was incredible as was their entire staff. Our food came quickly and tasted just as divine as the first visit. I ordered the churrasco again but this time with potato salad instead of fries. I asked if the potato salad was vinegary because I tend to be picky about those, but I was assured that if I didn't like it, I could switch it to something else after. This was great to know but not necessary as I ended up loving it along with the delicious steak. I savored every bite and lamented at the fact that I could not take the whole place home with me as I was not ready to let go. If we had Alta Vaca Grill near our new home, I would be there at least weekly without question. Amazing service with mouthwatering food and reasonable prices makes this an easy 5-star rating in my book. If we are ever in the area again, returning will be high on the priority list. If you are lucky enough to live nearby and haven't tried them yet, I suggest you run, not walk there, sooner rather than later because you will not be disappointed.

We had chips and guacamole and shrimp dishes on the table and they were scraped clean! The food was so good that no one took leftovers because we ate everything! The chairs and bench seats are super comfy so if you're like our group, you're going to want to stay for a while. We kept moving around to talk with others in our group because it was like being in someone's house. The bartender and server were excellent. As the person who suggested Burton's, I loved that I didn't have to worry about anything. Stephen Fithian, the manager, is really focused on making sure everything is smooth. Nothing gets past him, and judging from the professionalism of the servers and runners, that focus is on every level. Everyone at our table got the right drinks/food. We had such a great time that, while in the restaurant, my friends asked me to arrange another happy hour at Burtons. Will do!
