Possibly the worst "Thai" ever! Not only is the food complete garbage. The service is beyond shit. The Thai food here is cheap, no flavor so I don't understand what some people are saying it's "good" they obviously haven't had good food yet! Drive up the street and out of the valley! I hate having lunch at work cause all you have is cheap Chinese, some malnourished fast food joint, or one of these so called restaurants that serve ethnic foods that don't take pride in their own cuisine. The sweet and sour chicken is just sweet not even sour. Not as pungent as you would expect it to be due to the color plus I've had better sweet and sour at panda and it's just a sauce they serve!!! The "panang curry" I ordered over the phone turned out to be some random curry watered down colorless, flavorless and all you taste is that nasty bamboo shoots they added. This is not legit Thai food. Not like I'm Thai myself, but add some flavor! Even the chowmein has bamboo shoots. I'm not a fan of bamboo shoots obviously you can tell. So the way this restaurant uses them "religiously" is just not my cup of tea. So I def won't be returning to this run down establishment. P.s. Cash only. I just moved away from this area. I always thought these place was good. It wasn't until I moved away I learned how good their food was. In our new area I've try several Thai food restaurants and none of them come even close to Vim. I can honestly say that Vim is the best Thai food I have tried. I highly recommend this place. I remember before they remodeled, the amount of people and the line is so long, people are willing to wait outside the restaurant. Oh Vim!!! This is def my childhood spot. Especially on a rainy day, my family would drive (to the Vim in LA) and order the shrimp fried rice and of course the seafood soup!! Since then it's been awhile since I've had it. I happened to stumble upon this location as I was driving home and screamed like a lil girl who has just seen Justin Bieber walking down the street (don't judge me lol) I quickly head into the parking lot and walk inside. It's cash only and I was only craving the seafood soup. The food comes and the sweet server throws in some rice for free (which was super nice) Once I got home I was in heaven. This place used to have the best pad Thai. Pad Thai Ayutthaya used to be amazing. Thai people would eat there and order that dish. It is no longer the same dish they used to make. This place just recently opened and I just LOVE it. It's basically a sister restaurant in the one in LA. This place has Chinese food as well as Thai food. You just have to know what to order if you want traditional Thai food. I've had multiple dishes here: Pad Thai Ayudthaya (must say "Ayudthaya;" it's different from the original Pad Thai), Lard Nah, Pad See Ewe, Duck Larb, Fried Spicy Catfish, Pork Jerky, Seafood Tom Yum Hot Pot, Chicken Basil, Pineapple Fried Rice, etc. Those are the dishes I recommend. Their dishes are also huge and I never could finish everything. They have great service. The only thing I have to say is that this place is small and they definitely need to expand this location. And all Vim's location only accept cash, so you might want to hit the ATM first. read more

Me and my family came to this restaurant for the first time. The food was okay - but their customer service was terrible. When we were done we noticed that they charge you a tip with taxes apart from your taxes for the food. I don't think a any person would leave a tip with a horrible attitude and service they gave us. I will never again set foot in this restaurant. Vim's has several locations & I grew up going to the one in Los Angeles. I'm from The Valley & was ever so happy to have this location. The food is served family style to share. HIGHLY recommend the seafood soup. I now live in Las Vegas & anytime I am in The Valley I make a stop here just for the soup. I ordered the chicken with bamboo in coconut milk #83.. It was fantastic full of flavor a bit spicy but all and all very good. My husband had #81 had a bigger kick of spice, delicious and the sticky rice was very good. The portion of food they give you is more than enough that you can take it home and have it later.. Outside Dining -The tables are spaced out enough so not to worry . The wait is a bit long to receive the food but it is worth every penny! This is the best place in East Hollywood to have Thai Food. WORSE WORSE place ever!!!! Some of the waitreses are very rude, be careful not to make a mistake on your order because they will come back to you with attitude n in a rude manner. We ordered food and it never came, they said there were orders before us but we had ordered about 30 mins ago. They seemed more interested in cancelling our order so we did because they seemed more pleased pushing towards a cancellation instead of practicing custumer service and apologizing and work on our order. She is from the Esan region and she is thrilled with the quality and caliber of the food here! I'm a full figured "Farang" and the pineapple fried rice (leave me alone... I'm NOT eating that authentic spicy stuff) was delicious! Seafood salad was fresh and spicy and perfect for my wife who sometimes tires of the American fast food options which surround us. 3 stars for food quality and taste- 1 star for service. I wonder sometimes if these mom and pop restaurants have any clue on how to treat customers? Some things are just common sense. It took me over 45mins to get my take out order, all while I patiently waited and witnessed multiple people arriving after our selves, and placing and receiving their food order before us. It doesn't take 5 employees to man the register on a moderately busy day!? After I politely hinted at the employee that we had been waiting for a while and that part of our order had been sitting in the counter for over 20 mins in clear sight, and that we were waiting longer than some people that came after, the female employee, without care, shrugged her shoulder and made no comment. I also saw several other customers walking up to the front asking for various items that any attentive waiter would typically bring to the table.
