I tried Vinaigrette this weekend for the first time. So many amazing salad options! It was really tough to pick. I ended up getting the Salacho and my partner got The Beet Goes On (+ panko-crusted goat cheese). Both were extremely tasty. I was a huge fan of the panko-crusted goat cheese. I highly recommend adding it to your salad if it would compliment. The portion size was great; you'll leave feeling full. And the decor is bright and fun, too. It was rainy so we didn't take advantage of the patio, but I can imagine it is gorgeous on a sunny day or on a cool night. The prices were a bit higher than I expected. We only got two salads and my bill ended up being just over 30 dollars. Also, the server we had seemed rushed and a bit hectic. Overall, though, I am a fan and would go back. read more

I probably go here once a week for the all-kale salad with salmon. It's my favorite Caesar in Austin, and the salmon is perfect. I keep begging them to get gluten-free bread, because their tuna melt is also a favorite, but I can't eat it anymore! I also highly recommend their cocktails and you really can't go wrong with any of their salads. The soups have never been outstanding, but I continue to try them anyway. Punishingly loud dining area means you will have to scream to be heard by your friends. Kind of like a stadium concert venue without the music. I have been here a few times. Love the atmosphere, great for lunch. I recommend sitting outside if the weather isn't too hot. My favorite salad is easily the nutty pearfessor with flank steak. For a salad place, Vinaigrette knows how to cook a flank steak. Sorry I can't give Vinaigrette 5 stars. So what do you want first? The good or the not so good? The good is the patio is one of the best patios in Austin. Also good is the large assortment of salads. What gives the 3 stars? I have to be gluten free and the addition of soy sauce to marinades and many menu items is limiting. Suggestion: you could use tamari instead of soy sauce and it would taste just as good and be way more versatile. I will keep this pretty short and sweet. I loved the salads and sandwiches. We had the Omega salad plus a Tuna Melt and a Hot Turkey sandwich. Everything we ate was very good. Even the waiter was a helpful decent guy. But then came the end. The restaurant was nearly empty since it was the pre-dinner hour. My family and I walked towards the exit to leave, there are at least 4-5 restaurant employees, including our waiter seated or standing near the bar where we exited. And not one of them said a word. No thank you for coming, no have a nice evening, no come back soon. Not a wave, not even a nod or a smile. Crickets. They went and ruined a pretty nice dining experience. I told my wife, the next time I'm in Austin please remind me to never go to Vinaigrette again and to tell my local friends and family to stay away. This place is kinda cool..I went there to get a salad because I heard how good it was and of course didn't get a salad..I got the Reuben and a soup instead of a side salad because all their sandwiches come with either one (although it doesn't say on the menu that u can sub for a soup)..the mushroom soup was tasty but not something I would get on the regular it's super mushroomy so don't order unless u love mushroom..the Reuben was delicious I never order Reubens coz the sauerkraut throws me off but this one was really good! My coworker loves their torta she gets it from there all the time. This is def a place for lighter food which I prefer not to have a coma after eating and their salads looked so huge and delicious so next time for sure! read more

If you're craving some fresh food, you won't be disappointed. I had the Cuban Torta with a side Greek salad and I actually think I enjoyed the salad way more than the sandwich. The meat itself wasn't as flavorful as I thought it would be but the chipotle and sweet relish definitely gave it the kick I was looking for. The Greek salad though...WOW. When I go back it will be just to eat this salad. I'm not sure if the large portion is like this as well, but the side salad was just chopped up veggies on one piece of lettuce as opposed to a traditional salad. This place was absolutely fantastic! The three of us at dinner on Friday evening joked that we could have played musical plates and never been disappointed. The ingredients all tasted super fresh and the three different salads on our table were all distinctly different but equally cohesive in the flavors included. We tried: Eat Your Peas La Pepita The Asian Chop We sat under the beautifully lit tree outside but the inside was so pretty as well. Our server was very informative, attentive, and personable. I wanted to love the restaurant, Vinaigrette as it is in my neighborhood, but unfortunately I left a bit dissatisfied. Their menu is mostly salads, while I don't necessarily have a problem with that, they are some pricey greens. I ordered the kale salad with salmon that I was told was fresh Pacific variety. When my salad came, the salmon was pale and tasteless. I'm not sure if it was farmed.? I then asked for scallops which were good although few. The salads start at around $9-11-just for greens- to add protein it's another $4-8 bucks. I just couldn't help but think, I can get a whole tub of organic spring mix for five bucks. With that being said, The atmosphere and location are great. We sat in the spacious outside patio with beautiful twinkling lights. My consensus however, too expensive for what you get. read more

We originally discovered Vinaigrette when we were in Scottsdale, Arizon and were pleasantly pleased when we found out there was an Austin location! We love coming here when we are craving a nice salad. My favorite salad is the Frisee and my husband's favorite is the Salacho. Great ambiance and good service. Surprisingly this place is under the radar in Austin. I hope it doesn't go out of business because they have the best gumbo soup and salad IMO. read more

Luckily, the food was great... since the service was typical slacker Austin (ever hear how bad our service is from people from Dallas or Houston? Well, they're right). I ordered a "Fried Egg" sandwich and then later realized I was assuming the egg would be runny (silly me), and asked the server "how is that egg cooked on that sandwich?" He had no idea and asked another server and then replied "it's sort of scrambled." Naturally, I was perplexed. Fried eggs are never scrambled. Over cooked yes, but not scrambled. I got up to look at the menu to make sure and sure enough, it read "Fried Egg." I asked another server, who apparently had seniority, and he replied "I have no idea what it says." Great! There appears to be zero management here. Meanwhile, I was waiting for my sandwich and our server let us know it was taking longer since they had to re-make it. I assumed the kitchen was not happy since our server had never asked me how I wanted the egg cooked (a server at a greasy spoon diner would know enough to ask this). To my surprise, the sandwich was delicious. The bread was crusty, the egg was runny and the ham was for real and not processed. My wife's Huevos Rancheros with red and green chiles from New Mexico was outstanding (very rare to see real New Mex chiles in Austin). read more

A friend of mine's go-to salad spot in Austin. She's a regular there and took me after a work out at Orange Theory when we were starving. Food is fresh, consistent, and healthy. Lots of options depending on what you're in the mood for with a limited brunch menu, tons of salads, soups, small plates, and interesting juices. Both alcoholic and non. Service is extremely friendly and quick. Their to-go option is probably what we should have done, but their hospitality put up with our probably smelly selves. Would recommend for lunch. I was in Austin for the weekend and wanted just a regular lunch menu and every place I looked up on Yelp was serving brunch. Don't get me wrong, I love brunch but I had already had breakfast 5 hours before and wasn't up for that again. Vinaigrette was a great find. It's a brightly lit, high ceiling room with a lovely patio and bar. My friend and I each got a cup of soup, a salad and added a protein. I had the omega with grilled shrimp. The shrimp were large, full of flavor and perfectly cooked. My friend had the grilled chicken Caesar. Her chicken was juicy and so flavorful. The salad portions were quite large. My friend also got a Moscow mule which she said was very intense (in a good way) from the fresh ginger. Service was friendly and attentive. I went back and fourth on whether to give this restaurant 4 or 5 stars. My only reservation was the price. A cup of soup and a salad was $30 after tip and that's a lot to spend on a quick lunch for me. Saying that though, I wouldn't pause on doing that for a relaxing dinner. But overall, I would come back many more times and look forward to the fresh food, superb service, and clean airy atmosphere. read more

This afternoon was probably our fourth time physically eating at Vinaigrette, and we've gotten takeout too many times to count. We've tried most of the salads here, and our favorites are La Pepita, Asian Chopped Salad (has way too many noodles though), and the All Kale Caesar. We've tried the sandwiches (tuna melt and the roasted veggie & provolone) as well, which are fine, but nothing impressive. Today we tried the mushroom stew, which was pretty bland. As far as the drinks, the ginger turmeric cocktail is a favorite. We love the ambience in here and sitting outside by their massive live oak on a beautiful Austin day is as good as it gets. Plus, this place started in Santa Fe--and we love Santa Fe. The only reason it doesn't get five stars is because of the service. IT SUCKS. The waitstaff are so brusque and unfriendly (especially that older/surly bartender who is always there). It seems so strange that the management there hasn't done some kind of training to improve customer service, as we see that other people have mentioned the problem in their reviews. What a beautiful spot. They really knocked it out of the park on location and the design of the building. They've also hit on something people are looking for - a generous salad. Salads are usually anemic and overpriced. The good news is that these are in no way anemic -- but they are IMHO overpriced. The price range here is $13 - $20 per salad dependent on your addition of a protein. I had the pea salad and it was odd. I'm happy to chalk that up to me mis-ordering. The peas and funky mushrooms and extra extra cheese were not a good combination. My friend had the kale caesar. I love the idea but again, tons of cheese. She also added the scallops. Scallops should not be fishy. While it's true that I'm overly sensitive to "fishy" flavors, these smelled and tasted awful. I had a small bite of hers and was secretly grateful I hadn't chosen to get scallops. In the end, it's a $40 lunch for salad and maybe a drink. I'd rather build a salad at Salata for $12 (protein included) and skip the fuss. Also, dial back the cheese if the idea is to provide something "healthy." read more

It was in the heat of Texas summer so despite the lure of the beautiful outdoor oasis surrounded by a wonderful garden we opted to dine indoors. The restaurant is illuminated with natural light as two of the walls are made of gorgeous glass. The decor is simple with crisp white with a few splashes of red and green throughout the restaurant. I ordered a glass of rose and the Omega salad with added protein. The generously portioned salad was absolutely amazing. It was chock full of chopped greens, cilantro, sweet corn, diced bell pepper, tomato, creamy pieces of avocado, red onion and toasted pine nuts topped with four plump perfectly cooked cilantro lime shrimp and a vinaigrette dressing on the side. I enjoyed my salad so much that once served I almost forgot about my glass of vino. Heather F let me have a bite of her cheesecake topped with a lemon glaze and drizzled in raspberry sauce and it was fantastic. One thing I did not see on the menu was appetizers, enjoy a green drink or save room for dessert instead. Vinaigrette's outdoors would be a lovely place for date night or night out with friends. Santa Fe, Albuquerque, and now Austin... Vinaigrette offers great, fresh, local meals. Owner Erin Wade seems to have nailed the recipe for farm-to-table fare, and all of the produce comes from her 20 acre farm in Bastrop. All Kale Caesar! with Scallops was an excellent meal, tasty and fresh... maybe a little salty, but I liked it. Jeff Krolicki of Maker Architects did a fantastic job on the design and Drophouse built most of what you see, including the custom, beautiful window/door system. My only complaint is about the entry door and how it is not completely clear that it is a door at all. Do we push, do we pull? a tiny sign with an amazing font would clear it all up. Waxed floors cause the tables to move a bit, which will likely be addressed soon. Sandwiches look amazing, will updated as I return... Spectacular solo brunch. I came here once about a year ago when they first opened and it was so delicious. My second visit didn't disappoint. I arrived about 15 minutes before they opened and was greeted by a friendly "We'd be happy to seat you and get you a cocktail while our kitchen finishes their prep". SO much better than "We're not open yet"! My server was Natalie and she was a dream. Kind, positive and managed to get the kitchen to agree to all my substitution requests -which if you've ever worked in the industry, you know is a small miracle! I started with a turmeric mimosa. This spin on the traditional was great with the nuance and bite of turmeric. When I asked about the soups of the day Albundigas and Moroccan Chicpea) , Natalie offered to bring me a sample of both of them! Again blown away. And it worked because although I went with a different entree, I got a bowl to go! I had the Vinny Steak and Eggs (pictured) and they accommodated my request for a Savory Cilantro-Corn Pancake (main) as a single cake side. YUMMMMMM. Although the steak was way over-cooked (I requested medium and it came out well) the quality of meat was so good it was still tender and delicious. The red and green chile sauces really set it of with a burst of flavor. I'll probably be here working for another couple of hours and trying new fresh cocktails like That Green Drink (easy name to remember) made with celery, kale, jalapeño, lime, ginger and Ixa Silver Tequila with a Himalayan pink salt rim or the Mango Carrot Daiquiri made with mango, carrot, raspberry, lime, bitters and Rhum Agricole. I found this on Yelp while house hunting before our move to Austin. I told my relator we were going there and she almost jumped out of her seat said " I LOVE Vinaigrette!" We decided to go on a Saturday around noon. It was very easy to get to, but once we got there it was kind of hard to figure out where to enter. Once in, we were seated on the patio very quickly by the very friendly host. It was a great sized outdoor seating area with cool swings in the corner for kids.. or adults. The large oak in the center was pretty cool too. Been TRYING to eat (and drink) right so we passed on cocktails .... but the options looked fantastic. Everyone around was enjoying some sort of spirits and they all looked very well made. We couldn't pass not the mac and cheese to for a starter though. It was slightly more "wet" than I like, but it was extra sharp as advertised and we demolished it. I got the Salacho salad which is kind of like a taco salad, but the waiter mentioned that getting roasted chicken instead of beef/chorizo was sometimes a good option. I decided on that, and I'm glad I did. First the salad is very generous and all the components were very balanced. I saved some for later but certainly could've kept going. Everything was very fresh and it just tasted different (in a great way) than the salads you normally get when you eat out. She got the apple cheddar salad with pork tenderloin- and loved it. Again, generous portions and the pork was perfectly moist and a great combo with the apple and cheddar. Our server was great from beginning to end and I love that the patio is dog friendly. My ALL KALE CAESAR! SALAD (How cute is that name?) from Vinaigrette was probably one of the best kale salads I have ever had. It was light, but very flavorful and I appreciate the fact that the Kale was soft and NOT bitter whatsoever. However, the one thing I was a little disappointed with was the size and price of the salmon I added on. It was $9 for a small piece of salmon that was definitely overcooked (-1 Star). Come on... I make better salmon!!! Anyway, I have to give it to them though since I really enjoyed my ALL KALE CAESAR! SALAD (Shredded kale, lemon-anchovy vinaigrette, fresh parmesan, chopped Marcona almonds and anchovies; $10.25). The dressing wasn't heavy or overwhelming and the fresh parmesan was so perfectly shaved and delectable. I also love how the Marcona almonds were chopped so nicely. It really complemented the entire salad and tied it all together. Vinaigrette just offers such a unique and delicious variety of salads and other healthy dishes. I also love their vast selection of mocktails made from fresh juices! I ordered a Frozen Vinny Palmer (Blended hibiscus iced tea, fresh lemonade, real pomegranate grenadine; $4) which was refreshing, but also a bit sour! Just FYI! The interior of Vinaigrette is very relaxing and makes you feel like you are in a lovely, airy greenhouse. There is also a peaceful and lush outdoor patio area with a ton of oak trees! Go for the sandwiches. I had a delicious Cuban Torta (although I had to rearrange the ingredients, since all the pork ended up on one half - cook was in a hurry, I suppose). Salads are HUGE, too big to finish in the restaurant but not great to take home for later, since they're, well, salads. And salads with dressing don't usually make good leftovers. Plus, their lettuce looks like it gets run through a very fine shredder, at least in the salads I and friends have ordered. Tastes okay, but makes for a strange texture and visuals. The place is over the top noisy, too. So eat on their beautiful patio if you can, even in hot weather. The humongous oak tree is wonderful to sit under and there are fans outside. But inside, truly, you cannot hear yourself or your dining partner talk without shouting, which is why the place is so noisy! What is it with Austin restaurants that have to be all concrete, glass and wood? It's lovely, of course, but holy shit, there's no way to have a conversation at peak times. Maybe eat inside at 3pm when there are fewer people. read more

It's one of my favorite place to go! The atmosphere is relaxed and clean, the waiters and waitress are always attentive and friendly. It's on the end of SoCo but has it's own parking, which is the best part. The only thing I might suggest would be if they could write down the calories intake for each dishes. I love their salad but also know for a fact that they add oil on it, which from time to time made me wonder how healthy they are. Other than that, a great place to go! read more
