    Mushroom Stew
    Pree R.

This was my first time visiting Vinaigrette in Austin, and I went on a weeknight with my sister. I didn't realize just how many salads they offer, but I really appreciated that tofu is available as a protein option. What especially caught my attention--perfect for a cool winter evening in Texas--was their mushroom stew with a vegan miso base. We ordered cups of the vegan mushroom stew to start, along with one of the seasonal specials, the yam string fries, and a shared plate of grilled tofu. The mushroom stew was very umami-forward, filled with miso broth and a variety of mushrooms. While it was comforting, it felt like it needed a bit more seasoning--either spice or salt--to really elevate it. I was also expecting something thicker or creamier since it was labeled a "stew," but the base was quite runny and brothy with steamed mushrooms. The grilled tofu was decent, with a nice color on the outside, though it was soft and could have used more flavor. The yam string fries were almost comically thin--extremely shoestring. Dipping them into sauce was a challenge because they were so tiny, but it was still fun to eat them while chatting. What really stood out was the atmosphere. The dining area is comfy and cozy, and the colorful wall décor adds a lot of character. It's a welcoming, relaxed space right on Congress. Overall, Vinaigrette is a cozy Austin spot with casual yet slightly upscale vibes, offering healthy salad, soup, and sandwich options. If that's what you're looking for, it's definitely worth a visit.

One of the fewer nicer places in the Austin area for some fancier salad. Vibe was great! Very pricey for what it is though for sure. I got the tuna salad salad but beware of how significant the capper taste is with the dressing this particular salad had. Veggies tasted fresh!

I am still thinking about this salad ! Delicious and fresh . 10/10 first time being here and I can't wait to come back again.

HEALTHY, SERENE, BUSY! This is the quickest way to describe Vinaigrettes! Usually when you walk in there's no hostess but it's not self seating either so you'll have to wait for someone to seat you. The outside area is stunning with the oak trees as a backdrop. It's nice and shady during hot days like today! I ordered my fav, The Omega which I usually get with the tuna steak but today I ordered the lime shrimp and it was fantastic, -filling and perfect for spring! I love this place! So many healthy food options and great drink refreshers to choose from. It's pricey but worth it every once in a while.

This place is beautiful. Spacious indoors and outdoors. The giant oak tree is breathtaking and provides shade. Gorgeous green tile and lots of natural light inside. Ample parking. At first I wasn't sure if I was at the right place because there's no big sign for the restaurant. Service was friendly. I went on a Saturday evening and was surprised how dead it was.. a few tables of people outside and maybe two parties inside which I thought could be a red flag but everything was delicious! I'm guessing this place gets busy for brunch. Good variety on the menu with many healthy choices. Nice cocktail menu. The appetizers were smaller portions so if you have a table of four or more, order a few so you can share. Mushroom stew 10/10 Duck tacos 10/10 Kale Fritters 10/10 (and I'm not a huge kale fan) Salads are large and could easily be shared. Adding protein on some of the salads is an extra charge but it at least gives you options. Only downsides were the menus were dirty... overdue for a wipe down. And water glasses were jars which I don't prefer to drink out of without a straw (straws were not provided)

I was a fan! Very fresh and light lunch spot while exploring Austin. I was a fan of the look- both inside and outside had great seating and ambiance (not too loud). The service was friendly and personal, and our waitress told us some of the favorites. By far the favorites from our day were the Kale salad and Reuben sandwich

Atmosphere on the patio is incredible. Sitting outside is legit. The oak tree is ginormous. So many salad options. A bit odd they don't have dairy free milk options or gluten free bread. I still give it 5 stars. Servers were very nice.

This is a magnificent place for a beautiful, hearty salad. So many options too! Our salads were amazing. They also have a brunch menu. They have many wellness-inspired drinks as well. Prices seemed a little high, but the quality of the food was great. Indoor and outdoor space. Service is slower paced.

I was in in need of some greens before all of the thanksgiving celebrations this week, so I took a friend to Vinaigrette! There were several salad options to choose from, ranging from sweet to savory. We got: -La Pepita: my fav of the two -Greek with shrimp: your typical (not American) Greek salad with no leafy greens Food was a little pricy for what it was BUT the food was definitely fresh!

I was a little bummed out by our experience at Vinaigrette. A few of my coworkers frequent this spot for business lunches but I'd never been. We stopped in on Saturday afternoon, had no issues parking (which was a shock) and decided to sit at the bar. The bartender was nice, but she forgot the beet drink I ordered. My S/O had to remind her as he was ordering his second drink. I also wasn't blow away by the salads. I got the Omega with shrimp and didn't understand paying $9 for 4 shrimps that tasted so fishy (and not in a good way). I asked for no red onion in it and it came with red onion, which only added to my disappointment after not getting my drink. I didn't say anything because I was starving. We always kinda know when a place is going to be one we frequent regularly or if it's just a one and done and unfortunately, this was the latter for me.

Tuna Salad Salad with Seared Ahi Tuna

What a beautiful, airy and bright space! Loved the fresh and organic feel when you walk in. I noticed they even had a bin of books about plants near some chairs at the entrance to lounge. Came in for lunch and it was perfect to have a healthy and not super heavy meal. We all loved our meals. We shared one of the specials of the day which was the Mexican Meatballs. Had a chorizo flavor to it and we all agreed it would taste amazing in some queso! For my meal I had the Tuna Salad Salad. It comes with albacore, but you can add the Seared Tuna Steak for a total of $26.50. The portions are large. I couldn't finish it all. I really enjoyed the different flavors. The artichoke gave it an occasional bite of caper like tang flavor that I loved. Our waitress was beyond attentive and making sure our drinks were always filled. I can't wait to explore more of their menu and patio on a cooler day!

We were in the mood for something healthy and this place was nearby so we decided to give it a try! Beautiful space, bright and airy with a fun crowd of all ages! Service was fast and friendly. Went with a couple of specials from their menu - a fabulous carrot and micro green salad that was so good, I want to try and replicate at home and loved the peppery olive oil dressing ! On the side we got the healthy- ish jalapeno poppers which were phenomenal, best I have had and they are better for you than the traditional version! Will definitely return as the weather warms to enjoy that outdoor patio!

Asian chopped salad with flank steak
    Greg B.

Although the salads are superb (the Asian Cop Salad with flank steak $25), the service was terrible. It took us ten minutes to flag down a passing waitress to take our order. We only saw her twice afterwards: when lunch was delivered and when she brought the check (again after flagging her down). The dining room is airy and comfortable and looks out on a magnificent oak tree in the patio. Getting good service shouldn't be such a challenge.

However, upon opening the front door I was met with beautiful fine dining ambience: exotic ceramic-tiled walls, cherry-finished wicker furniture cushioned with satin pillows, and of course the enormous golden cherub statue in the center of the room which delicately sprayed chicken tortilla soup into the Venice-like channels that crosshatched the restaurant. A hostess in a gondola rowed us to our table singing a song in another language (maybe Italian?) before letting us know that the Soup Man would be with us shortly as he was very busy today. The warning was unwarranted though, as the Soup Man shortly thereafter appeared at our table addressing, us by name and apologizing that the hostess didn't realize what esteemed guests we were. Bashfully I stammered that he must have me confused with someone else as I'd never been to this establishment before, but he softly shook his head and with a smile said, "I know all who live within this city." and pulled a steaming bowl of turkish wedding soup (my favorite!) from behind my ear as if to prove his point. Overall it was a wonderful experience! I am docking it one star because they were out of oyster crackers to crumble on my soup. Will be back!

My only complaint and why this isn't a five star review is because they pretty much had one person making coffee and taking/delivering orders. There were two other employees there while this was happening, but one guy was on his phone until he saw the entire line looking at him before he skulked off to the back and another person washing pans. She was busy but when she finished, she just stared at the line and then walked to the back as well. I get people may not be trained for every job, but this poor girl getting slammed and doing everything herself needed help. At least pretend to ask. An older gentleman walked in and went behind the counter, surveyed the line, checked a pastry fridge to make sure that it was stocked up, went to back briefly and walked out. No one ever helped the poor girl at the front counter. Food is amazing, but you may be waiting quite a while to order if they keep this up. Will we return....heck yes. I just hope they get the front area more help.

The bowl itself came loaded with meat--they definitely weren't skimping to save money here. The meat-to-noodle ratio felt great, and every bite actually had substance instead of leaving me fishing around for toppings. As for the broth, I landed somewhere in the middle. It wasn't quite as clear or light as I personally prefer, leaning toward a fattier, milkier undertone that almost reminded me of a Vietnamese pho take on tonkotsu. The flavor itself was undeniably very good, but the richness may have been a bit too much for me personally. One way I usually judge how much I love a pho broth is whether I want to sip the bowl down to the very end, and this one wasn't quite light enough for me to want to do that. I've had richer and deeper pho flavors elsewhere, but I still appreciated the flavor profile here and could absolutely see why this place is so popular. It feels hearty, comforting, and satisfying in a way that clearly resonates with many people. Despite how packed the restaurant was, the atmosphere ended up being surprisingly pleasant. Service moved very quickly, which honestly impressed me given how busy everything felt. Even with the crowd, I didn't dislike the spacing or setup at all--the restaurant still felt comfortable, and the sound of people enjoying their food all around added to the lively, welcoming energy rather than making it feel overwhelming. Overall, Pho Phong Lưu ended up being one of those places where I completely understood the hype, even if it didn't become my personal favorite pho spot.
