Went there last night for a girls night out with my 13yr old daughter:) It was fantastic! She had the spaghetti and meatballs. It was a very generous portion, with about 5 large meatballs that were better than mine (that's saying a lot!) I ordered the chicken parmesan. The chicken was so tender and their sauce is delicious. As a side, we had the brussell sprouts. They left me speechless. I could have eaten just those with their homemade in-house daily bread. Then.....dessert! I had the dark chocolate crème brulee. I've only ever had the "typical" crème brulee-this was one of a kind! My daughter had the flourless chocolate torte with raspberry confit. Lastly, our server, Connor was great! He was very attentive, but not over the top and he told us the history of the restaurant and the beautiful building it's in. I'm looking forward to returning. read more

This place is filled with great servers and delicious things to eat. We went for dinner last night for our first experience. The server was super friendly and came directly to the table. I guess the only thing I would complain about was how close we sat in between other couples. For me this isn't really an issue, we sat next to a charming couple and chatted throughout the meal. Back to the place itself, you feel like you are in a historical building. The chain of restaurants leading up to it from Ann St are all managed by the same people but all have different vibes. This one is my favorite so far. We got the bruschetta because we heard it was wonderful. This stuff is mouth-watering level good and I can't wait to have it again!! I had the seafood gamberoni and will probably be thinking about it for a few more days. It was wonderful. Vincent Chiccos was a very romantic place for dinner and good for groups. Upstairs dining was for larger groups like ours but elegant as well. The server recommended the soft shell crab ravioli for an appetizer...was not too happy about the price of it when the bill came. Most of the appetizers ranged from $10-$15 but of course the recommended one was $20 and not displayed in the menu. Now don't get me wrong the food was great but it didn't leave that ever lasting memory of the fabulous food/dining experience being stored in my food memory bank. I ordered the chicken piccata and my boyfriend had the veal..he enjoyed his more than me. When I reviewed this place in Yelp it showed $$ and I think it should have been more like $$$. For two people it was over $100 not including tip. That was for the $20 appetizer, a bottle of wine at $30 (the cheapest red wine they offered I might add) and 2 entrees. For a dinner full of carb loading pasta I think I would try a different place next time for Italian. Oh and this place was in an ally way off the main streets and the local taxi driver couldn't even find the place and had never heard of the palace...and the sign out front of the restaurant is smaller than a stop sign making it difficult to distinguish! read more

The server was great. The food was not. I wish I could have returned the product for a full refund because I left spending way too much money for food that was mediocre at best. I was so excited for the burrata cheese and was grossly disappointed. What's up with the low tables and high chairs where you can't even sit comfortably? This was our first time at this restaurant. We had a very good experience. The service was efficient and friendly. The homemade pasta is delicious. The building is beautiful and the atmosphere was lively but not to loud. My husband had the Sunday gravy meal and he said it was very good. I had the chicken piccata with fresh pasta. It was very good but a little too heavy on the capers. We also had a Caesar salad which was delicious. We would definitely go back to this restaurant again. read more

Our first experience at Vincent Chicos was great!!! My wife and I were excited to return. The second time was absolute trash. However, both of us having worked in F&B, we have a 2 out of 3 policy. Everyone has an off day. Our third experience was worse than the second. The service wasn't the problem. I'm not going to go into detail about the food, I'm not writing this to be damaging or hurtful. It's a beautiful space with a lot of potential. "Chef" change? Management change? Sorry, but I think it's totally overrated and overpriced.... Not to mention mercenary. First off, our reservation was for upstairs, when prime seating was available that we were not"allowed" to have. There were no other people up there. Next, people all over were shivering in their seats; no one seemed to care... I ate my meal with a scarf around my neck. The veal saltimbocca was very good but the pasta got cold instantly; the chefs fish was dry and overwhelmed with rice At least four different employees tried to sell us additional drinks, that's all anyone seemed to care about....really. My wife & I happenstanced on Vincents' looking for Italian & we were very happy with our choice. The waiter was very helpful and extremely polite. I got lobster spaghetti was outstanding, the lobster perfectly cooked. My wife ordered chicken picatta and sauce was delicious with capers. Dessert of chocolate semi Fredonia with pistachios tasted irresistible. Excellent meal and worth the price. read more

Had an amazing experience last night! My boyfriend and I just got engaged and had some friends in town so we wanted to celebrate with a nice, delicious dinner. I made a reservation at Vincent Chicco's because I read a great review on my favorite local food blog (Queen of the Foodage) and they seriously blew us away. The server, Kyle, was AWESOME. The sommelier was great. They went completely out of their way for us! Everything from complimentary prosecco to three different desserts. We will absolutely be back. Went here while in town and absolutely loved it! It was by far the best restaurant we went to. The server was super nice and provided wonderful service. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. They also seemed to really enjoy what I got. I can't remember the name but it was some type of lamb ragù on a bed of delicious fresh made fettuccine.The ambiance was amazing, excellent lighting and décor. Stared at us the second we entered. Hostess had to ask a question about us, I guess to the manager, then we were seated. Waited ten minutes, no one waited on us. Felt like the employees were starring at us. Not sure if it's because we were wearing casual clothing...but if it was, they should have told us they wouldn't seat us. I've never felt so awkward entering a restaurant. My girlfriend and I got up and left, as we were walking out the hostess gave us an awkward smirk and didn't say a word. Very weird!!! I've never gotten up and left a restaurant before. I felt like it was a joke and we were on camera it was so weird. There was only 2 parties in the restaurant too...what the hell?! Just wanted to have a few drinks and eat a nice dinner. Walked down the street! I'm not one to write reviews, but this was absolutely pathetic service. read more

We took a party of 45 from a bus tour. Of course, had reservation. Arrived 6:30, they were unprepared. One waiter was all we had, most of the time. It was served family style. Not big enough portions for the six people seated at each table and food was not warm. We were finally finished at 9:40. Very disappointing. read more

We enjoyed our meal. There were some good aspects to the meal but it wasn't memorable at all. The staff was very young and the demeanor of the two who waited on us was too casual--could be perceived as flippant but will give them the benefit of the doubt. We ordered appetizers, salads and entrees at the same time. I was asked if I wanted the salads to be served with or after the apps--of course, after. there was a ~15 minute gap between the apps and the salads and another ~15 minute gap between the salads and the entrees. Way, way too long. The wine list is unremarkable and low end so I was drinking wine by the glass. after 20 minutes of an empty glass I had to walk to the bar to order another--our waiter had disappeared and the restaurant looked to be woefully understaffed. The seating is tight and there was a 50-ish couple on their first date next to us and her laugh was loud and annoying (no wonder she's single). The guy was a blow hard working too hard to impress so we had to endure that as well. read more

What a great atmosphere in a very tasteful redo of an old warehouse and home of the "fighter of prohibition". All of this is music to our ears; we being transplants from Chicago, the home of the best bootleggers and speakeasies for sure. We were there for two birthdays. The two birthday "boys" had the duck breast, restaurant week three for $30. They loved the appetizer and desserts. The duck breast was not so good BUT WORRY NOT. The classy maître d' was most upset and attentive. She offered another meal (but alas the boys had chewed through most of it...hungry they were) or an adjustment to our bill. MIND YOU we are not complainers and her handling of the issue was most professional. We did not ask for her or for any adjustment. The excellent waiter noticed and reported it. Service was perfect! And an important criteria for us is the ability to enjoy dinner conversation and not be over powered by "the buzz" that some people love...not us. AND, the ladies' meals were wonderful! Another three for $30 was the lasagna and my friend almost licked her plate it was so good. I enjoyed the veal picatta (a must do favorite of mine); it was seasoned well and a most generous portion (read that like dinner for tonight!). After dinner, the ladies made the obligatory trip to the restroom. While returning, we saw the maître d', mentioned how lovely the restaurant is and she asked if we would like a tour. Visited Friday night for business dinner and was "wow"-ed from start to finish. From cocktails and apps in the social club to dinner at chiccos, food and service was outstanding. Highly recommend bruschetta and salumi board with cheese. Also, fresh catch (wahoo), pasta dishes (lobster spaghetti and fettucine funghi) and chicken piccata - all expertly prepared. Ate hear Sunday, January 19th. The decor and feel of this place is outstanding. Very classic, and classy. The bar (admittedly brand new) is a wonderful polished dark wood, the flooring a black and white tile, and the lighting is lovely. Is is the sort of place where you feel like you might walk in to see Sinatra knocking back a Martini or a scotch. The food: all pasta noodles are house made. The portions are solid. And, I found the pricing to be wonderful for the quality of the dishes. I had the lamb shoulder tagliatelle with ricotta and lavender mint. I have frequented every Italian restaurant in Charleston, and I would place the above dish on par with anything similar offered anywhere in town, and a bit more affordable at that. Seasoning and presentation were lovely. My girlfriend had the veal bolognese, also outstanding. Not to be missed, is the roasted tomato bisque. Get it. The service across the board was warm, friendly, and genuine. My only complaint, and it is a small one, is the absence of years on the wine list. This is particularly problematic with offerings like Brunello and Barolo where the age is a truly significant factor in the approachability of the wine. The Barolo listed presently is an '09. Overall, this is a welcome addition to the city's food scene. I look forward to more satisfying meals in the future. Give it a try! You'll love it. read more

I would be giving a higher review if the service had been better. but if took a while for someone even to acknowledge that I'd sat down. (No one greets you at the door, so I had to just surmise it was a 'seat yourself' establishment.) Then, I ordered a salad, pasta, and a glass of wine. I had to ask for water and, 10 minutes later, still no wine. Then I got served my salad and entree together (still no wine), when I was expecting the salad first. I was disappointed to get everything together! I still had no flatware or napkin, at this point. The gentleman who was trying to get all the things the waitress had forgotten was very sweet, but the dark-haired waitress didn't seem to give a shit about her customers. I gave her 15%, which she didn't even deserve. On the upside, I got the gorgonzola salad and the mushroom pasta and the food was good! But, do something about the bread you serve which was gummy and disgusting. read more

I was so excited to try this restaurant but was immediately disappointed after waiting almost 15 minutes for a server to greet our table. We then waited another 10 minutes before getting our first drink. 2 of the 4 entrees came out wrong so again, we waited. Although the server and manager were clearly aware of the poor service, nothing was comp'd. Just bad! I wish the food over compensated for the horrendous service, but it didn't. Can't say enough about how nicely the Holy City group designs their restaurants. First class beautiful all the way around! Absolutely perfect atmosphere. The two tops are very close together, though. So be prepared for a New York City dining atmosphere if you are just going with one person. Our favorite restaurant is Coast so every comparison is always going to be against it. Based on that I can say that the service and people are just as great but the food still has a ways to go. I have no doubt it will get there, but it isn't there yet. I had a Gorgonzola salad to start. The greens were OK but the salad was, unfortunately, missing the gorgonzola. My wife had the house salad with Italian dressing and it was much tastier. I had a pasta dish they called "Sicilian Gravy". It was a red sauce with pork, veal and beef served over your choice of pasta. I chose the long pappardelle noodles vs. the cavatelli they serve it with. Apparently they only serve the cavatelli al dente and, call me crazy, I like my pasta cooked. The sauce was spicy and quite delicious, however there was so much of it absolutely took over the homemade pasta. So I have no idea how good or bad it might be because each piece was totally infused with the red sauce. My wife had the Brodetto which was like a seafood stew. She enjoyed it thoroughly and said it was perfectly well done. She had three glasses of the house chardonnay which was quite tasty. I had a glass of Pinot Grigio to start. The first glass must have come from a bad bottle because it smelled like kerosene but the next glass they brought me was much better. The house bread is foccaccia. I would prefer that an Italian restaurant served the same amazing Italian bread they serve down the street at Coast but it is what it is. The foccaccia was dry and, frankly, kind of boring. The dinner took a long time to get to us because they are still working out the kinks so they comp'ed my dessert. I had a piece of lemon blueberry cheesecake that was, like the bread, pretty dry. It had good flavor but next time maybe I'll go with the tiramisu or panna cotta. The coffee was fine. Via a hallway near the restrooms you can get to their cocktail bar and then their new steak house. All three, again, are amazingly classy and between Rue de Jean, Coast, the steakhouse, the cocktail bar, and Vincent Chioccas there really isn't any reason to go anywhere else for dinner in Charleston! Jamie was our server and she was great. We'll see how things evolve and will definitely go back, but I'm not sure when. Coast is just so darn good that it is tough to justify spending money anywhere else at this point. read more

A hidden gem that isn't downtown along all the hustle and bustle of the tourism area. It's a 5-8 minute walk from the Renaissance Hotel on Wentworth, in which we've enjoyed dinner a couple of times while vacationing. Eric was our waiter for the 2nd time, and he didn't disappoint again! Why does this place not already have 5 stars?? The chef is brilliant... I did a Chef's tasting menu. All 5 courses were unbelievable. Hubby did an Italian gravy dish. And a gorgeous antipasto and cheese platter as an appetizer. Our server, Conner, was adorable. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and was perfectly attentive without ever hovering. Everyone came by at some point to ask how everything was and they actually cared about the answer. You could see personal pride in all the staff as we raved about the food and the excellent bottle of wine. So happy we accidentally stumbled in here. Do not miss this gem of the Holy City. read more

I was just at the restaurant the other night from walking down the cool alley I loved the vibe. We started with drinks at the bar and our bartender was the best. Cocktails were beyond yummy and his knowledge in the history of the building was so fun. While waiting for our whole party we started speaking to our server, he made a great suggestion about a seafood tower so of course we got 2 and couldn't of been happier. From the apps to desert was spot on yummo!! The service so so good I thought I was in a 5 star restaurant! If you reading this I'm telling you, go! Excellent food, excellent personalized service. I looked up their menu in Charleston restaurant guide and was very disappointed they did not have Vegetable Lasagna as per the guide. The chef personally came out and promised he would fix a good dinner for me. He made excellent tomatoes (fried green, roasted cherry, stuffed green) for appetizer. For main course he made Eggplant and vegetable Parmesan, he actually talked my carnivore husband into a mushroom pasta which he really enjoyed. Their Chocolate cake was delicious.
