My adult son liked and frequented this place. I went by myself in May 26, 2022 to pick up donuts & coffee as a first time customer. Dustin (or maybe his name was Justin) was so rude to me when I asked for a medium coffee, he wouldn't look at me and said I didn't know the right names for the cup sizes, he got mad when I asked how many ounces were in each coffee cup size, since obviously I didn't know the fancy words for cup sizes (I do not drink coffee). I was shocked and shaking, he was the rudest service person. He continued to be belligerent to me, and there was a line of customers behind me. Another kind female worker intervened and finished taking my order, with apologies and grace. She even gave me the coffee free to try to make up for his rudeness. He kept taking others orders, although he should have been fired. Unless he's gone by now, don't bother eating here if he's going to serve you. It's not worth being treated so poorly. This place is very charming. I had a french toast donut which was pretty delicious and huge! I also had a vanilla glazed cake which tasted more bread-like than cake-like, so it wasn't my favorite. I loved all their interesting flavors! They are open until they sell out. read more

My 3 year old and I went for a doughnut run this morning and wanted to try something different. They were amazing! My personal favorite was the French toast doughnut. Delicious! The 2 women working were so sweet and gave my son a doughnut hole right when we walked in the door so he was sold right away. If you haven't tried this place go for it. Just visited and it was truly a lovely place to visit and had to check it out. I had the the lemon lavender which had an amazing slightly herby taste and my friend had the chocolate cream donut and that too was delicious. Regular coffee was very good as well which says a lot. To have a unique donut, have it tasty and in a pretty and contemporary environment was a terrific Sunday morning experience. read more

Sometimes you need to throw any semblance of a diet out the window. When that urge strikes, this is the place to go. I had the bacon maple donut and even though the flavour was very good, I found it to have an almost leaden and heavy texture. I've had similar gourmet donuts that don't have that same "lump in the gut" feeling. Having said that, if you're looking for a unique treat, this is the place to go. read more

Ok so I'm riding down Tower Groove and I see this donut shop that make their donuts from scratch, so I MUST STOP!!! so to my disappointment they're closed, BUT there's a guy coming out the door, I ask are u close he answers yes come back tomorrow at 6am, I tell him I live in Creve Coeur so yeah, he says wait come in to my surprise he gives me to giant donuts... Disappointing and inedible. Donuts were somehow both raw and dry. I tried 3 different doughnuts and threw all three out. The first one was the turtle. This one was cooked the all the way through but was dry and tasted more like dirt than chocolate. The second and third were white cake donuts with vanilla frosting. First, there was too much frosting. Then the outer part of the donut was dry and crumbly while the center was gummy and doughy. Easily the worst attempt at donut-making I've encountered outside my mother's ill-advised attempt to make them at home. read more

First time @ Vincent Van Doughnut, I was anxious to try them since I had heard there was a restaurant in the Grove.. The guy working couldn't of been nicer & more helpful...I ordered 4 donuts, the cake iced donut I tried first tasted old & extremely dry after two bites I threw it away..I later tried a different donut & it was equally stale & dry..I got two donuts for a friend & he said his long john & other donut wasn't good either.. I had super high expectations. A few days before was national donut day and I read an article that said Vincent van doughnut was ranked #1 in Missouri. I had to try it. That weekend I convinced my family we had to try this place, Sunday morning we woke up and headed to VVD 4 adults and 2 kids. We walk into the doughnut shop and everything looks amazing and so delicious, I want to try everything. We order 10 different doughnuts, 2 breakfast pockets, 4 coffees, and 1 quiche. We decided to split everything to try a little bit of all the doughnuts. We cut up and sampled all the doughnuts, breakfast pockets, and quiche between the 6 of us. We sat there In almost silence as we ate our food not really sure what to say or do. As we cleaned up and head out side I spoke up and said I wasn't a fan. The sound of relief from everyone as they agreed and shared our mouth experience with each other. We all agreed that the quiche was super dry, like had to drink my coffee while trying to chew dry. Doughnuts, like I said in the beginning they look amazing but taste like they sat out all night just dry and ok. The pockets where the best thing cheesy, delicious, and not dry. Unfortunately I must agree with a few previous posters about grease soaked donuts that tasted like old/burnt oil. I bought 4 different kinds today and only 1 did not taste like it had been fried in last week's grease. Very disappointing for how expensive they are. They need to address quality control issues because there are plenty of better, more reasonably priced donuts in the area. read more

Probably the best donut I have ever eaten... AND it was VEGAN! Vegan food is usually a toss up for me but the donut tastes exactly like a normal donut would taste! So first let me confess ...... I don't actually like donuts that much. I mean I just don't eat them often. Second, I just picked up a few for Christmas Eve with my family from this establishment and I have not had one yet. With that being said, I am a fan of hospitality and good people. Therefore I'm writing this review based on that. I live in the neighborhood and I support local businesses. I was glad to be at Vincent's. First, the gentlemen opened maybe 5 minutes early and said "come on in I won't make your wait." The other gentlemen inside behind the counter was still making some donuts. They both chatted me up and explained how they charged for donuts. I got 7 large donuts (shareable for sure) and I felt like the price was more than fair. They look delicious and I'm sure they will be delicious, too. I got a lavender and I'm exited to try it later. Thank you Vincent Van Doughnuts for being good neighbors in the Grove. I went by today and tried two donuts - the maple bacon and the chocolate. These are like bread with icing - not donuts. The donuts are huge - which I suppose could be a plus - but not really. They are large and bready - not tasty. There are a lot better yeast donuts in st. louis. The two I tried were disappointing and expensive. read more

With several incredible, historic donut shops in town, the bar for donuts in St. Louis is always high. VVD is fairly new, and you can tell it is a product of the era that bore it. The interior is very clean and modern, and the donuts look like they were made for Instagram. Unfortunately, they were. By that, I mean they look a lot better than they taste. The toppings, colors, and funky, square shapes all look fabulous, but in reality, the donuts themselves aren't spectacular. My favorite was the blueberry cheesecake. While the blueberry and cheesecake flavors were decent, the actual bread part of the donut was indefensibly dry and dusty. What really rubbed me the wrong way was that my four donuts, two biscuits, and two coffees were $35. I get that they are selling themselves as a premium establishment. Yes, the donuts are pretty and huge. Regardless, I could go to Donut Drive-In, get a dozen donuts and two coffees for $12, and I would enjoy them SO much more. Additionally, the guy working the counter seemed downright annoyed to be there. All-in-all, I am very disappointed. I just don't get it. read more
