Quite a classy wine bar in the Stone Oak neighborhood of SA. My friend suggested this when we met up here in late April. A reviewer mentioned that being here gives the feeling of hanging in someone's wine cellar which is the impression I got as I set foot in here. With the word wine being the in name of the establishment, you will find an extensive selection of wines available by glass and bottle and categorized by white types and red types. Being a Zinfandel guy, the bartender turned me to the Girard "Old Vine" Zinfandel. This is a pricy wine at $25/glass. I enjoyed the hell out of it as it's one of the better Zinfandel's I've ever had. Definitely steep at $25. I probably should've gone with the wine flight which is what my friend did before he switched to a Malbec. I forgot which one he did but the flights are all prearranged to compliment one another. It makes for a nice experience if you're not sure what wine you want to zero in on. As for food, we paired our wine with a charcuterie board. It's a standard board with some baguette slices and a mix of cheeses and meats with a candied jalapeno spread. A very nice compliment to wine. They have happy hour, wine of the month, and a wine/dine theme for every month where they pair wines with a themed menu. Plus sangria is available as well. Also there is wine tasting every Wednesday so the place gets packed from what I heard. But I'd certainly be open to attending one. Can't wait to come back here! read more

This place was recommended to me by many people, and I'm glad I had the chance to visit. The wine was delicious, and it was my first time trying a rosé Vinho Verde. It was nice and slightly effervescent, just as I expected. I enjoyed the charcuterie plate and the bruschetta, but next time, I would skip the meatballs. I also want to try their pizza on a future visit. The service was lovely, and the staff's suggestions were great. I found the little cautionary signs around the place to be both helpful and humorous. I appreciated them, especially since I wouldn't want to be the reason for a bunch of wine bottles falling off the wall! My favorite part about being there was feeling like I was inside a wine cellar. The place was very classy and upscale upon entry. Definitely the local spot for professionals getting off of work. The upstairs was closed and most of the tables were full, so we snagged a couple of seats at the bar. Service was amazing, the wine selection was great, and we definitely went the best route by getting two different small pizzas instead of one larger pizza. The ingredients were fresh and delicious! That first Italian red... it had such an interesting flavor! It honestly tasted like Italian sausage! I was not expecting it, but it paired perfectly with the La Verdad pizza. I LOVE Copa! I frequently go here to meet friends, go on date nights, and pick holiday/special occasion wine. They always have fun, tasty new wines that can be sampled everyday in addition to a wine dinner every last Thursday of the month. The owner is so nice and is always available to answer questions but the staff is very knowledgeable too. Copa has great food and wi e specials and a pretty good happy hour. Nice little spot with a cute aesthetic. The staff was very kind. Happy Hour white sangria was awesome! The sparkling sangria wasn't as much of a hit. Brisket Nachos were okay, It would've been good to know it came with individual pieces and how many, the size was kinda disappointing. A lovely place in the middle of a sterile strip mall. I felt as if I had stepped into an tavern with all of the wood paneling and the lovely staircase. The staff was very attentive and knew the wines that were available and knew how to make good recommendations based on what I normally drank. I got an Argentinian Cabernet Franc that tasted spicy and complemented the charcuterie board I ordered. And speaking of, the meats and cheeses were out of this world. We had a bottle of Prosecco and a charcuterie plate here and enjoyed both. The prices were reasonable and the service was great. The cheeses and meats in the board were delicious and were accompanied by candied jalapeños, apricot preserves and baguette slices. They have an extensive menu of wines to choose from as well as some beers. They have an upstairs area as well that was not open when we went on a Saturday afternoon. After driving past this place after work for years, I finally went with a friend who loves this place. I've been missing out on this cozy, local wine bar! This is a great local place with a lot of wines available at different price points (generous pours). In addition to the variety of wines available, the food we tried was really good. They did a great job paying attention to the extra details to turn a simple dish into the next level. The Mediterranean dip had toasted bread and the fries included your choice of sauces. Both were so good and I'd immediately order again. We also tried the special crawfish stuffed mushrooms. Although I'm not normally a mushroom fan, I liked those and, again, appreciated the sauce that came with them. My friend and I were there for HOURS with many glasses of wine and our total bill was a little over $100. We were never rushed, service was great. read more

The potato waffle with salmon and apple butter was a good combination with a pino gris, the delicious butternut squash bisque soup was complimented by very a smooth and tasty merlot, the glazed pork loin roast was perfectly prepared, moist and flavorful. This is a nice spot. Came in around 630 on a Friday and it was already pretty packed. It was unclear if we were supposed to seat ourselves or wait to be seated. A server ended up pointing us to a couple of options. It does feel kind of tight in there, but everyone is in good spirits, drinking wine. There are LOTS of flight options on the menu which is super cool! We got the chardy party and the call me a cab. We love getting flights and these didn't let us down. It was a nice price for a four decently poured samples. We enjoyed the food menu, as well. There were lots of nice vegetarian snacks. And sooo many dipping options for the fries. It was kind of absurd the amount of options. We got a cheese plate and I expected more of a charcuterie board. It was fun being able to snack on different things. This was my first trip to Copa Wine Bar and had a good time. I met a friend in San Antonio on a Wednesday afternoon. You would never guess the cozy European interior from the outside as it looks pretty nondescript. Service was good and the pours were generous. I would have like to see some better offerings on the happy hour menu. We ended up getting the personal pizza's which were really good and the right size. We didn't realize, but it was a wine tasting night and the place ended up getting very packed. I would like to come back for the wine tasting night, it looked like a lot of fun. read more

Upon walking in is a small area with lots of tables. Me and my friend were able to sit immediately anywhere. The sangria was sweet and fruity. My fave drink was the sparkling watermelon. What a fun place!!! I can't wait to go back! My boyfriend and I ordered a flight of wine each... wow it was a lot of wine! I got the Rose "Shades of Rose?" flight and he got the "Training wheels" Sweet Red (they have a better name for it I just can't remember!) so fun to try new/different wines and flavors. They even put thought in to what order the wines go in to drink (light to heavy). Just really fun! We stayed for another 2 glasses each because we loved it to much! We have gone to Copa several times per year since they opened. We were there last night with a group of friends. We had reservations for 6. It was a good thing we did. The place was full. We all did the wine "tasting" ... 6 pours for $25 pp. The pours were a bit on the small side, but the server was very adept at pouring each one the same amount. One of us made a silly comment about not getting as much in her pour as her husband and I think that irritated the server. We were just joking. The server's attitude seemed to go down hill pretty quickly. She was not friendly or pleasant. She came by with our 3rd pour and I was the only one ready so she decided she'd come back later so that we all had ours at the same time. I have no problem with that. But, after quite awhile she came back with the 4th pour. We told her we hadn't had the 3rd one yet. She looked at us like she didn't really believe us. She did go get the other bottle and the tasting proceeded. When she came back with the 5th pour, one of our guests had not finished the 4th. She served the 5 of us that were ready and left. When she came back with the final pour, we explained that my friend had not had the 5th pour yet and it was really evident that she thought we were lying to her. I assure you that we are all extremely responsible adults and would never do anything like that ... and we don't need to. Her attitude was a pretty big buzz kill. Copa has a great vibe. The employees are generally pleasant. The food is good. The meatballs are very good! The wines are delicious. PS They used to have something on the menu called the zeta pizzette. It was a SUPER thin crust pizza with tons of mushrooms. I miss that. It was absolutely amazing. read more

We had a server named AJ - party of 5. Came during happy hour with no more than 3 tables on a Monday. Bussed our own table and was reprimanded for putting dirty dishes on her clean bar. Furthermore, had to literally get up twice to request a refill on wine glasses. Had an additional guest join us and AJ brought a water glass without even asking if she needed a drink... when requesting a drink we received a huge eye roll... and then received our checks with 20% gratuity added. When questioned about this and the lack of service- we were explained how she has 10 years of serving experience... So the food was good - the wine was average and the service sucked.. to be polite. read more
