My friend and I participated in restaurant week as we do every year and we decided to dine at this restaurant. I've always seen this restaurant roaming the city and was so glad to see that they were participating. So the reservations were quickly made :) We walked through the Oculus to get to the restaurant and upon entering it felt like we were in a Trader Joe's, or WholeFoods and we were kind of confused lol so I asked one of the cashiers how to get to the restaurant. He told me that there were three restaurants on the premises, then proceeded to ask me which one was I referring to. I told him Vino and he pointed straight ahead. The host greeted us, and took us to our seats, which was near a window with views of outside. I was staring straight at Century 21 lol. The atmosphere is very relaxed and chill. I love the fact that if I wanted to go grocery shopping right after I could just get up from my seat, grab a basket, make a slight turn and start shopping :) Our waitress came, greeted us and handed us the menus. For starters, I got the Insalata Colorata salad and I added chicken. It was absolutely delicious. My friend got the fried Carnaroli rice balls which I have tasted and it's pretty good. As we sat and enjoyed and finished our appetizer, there was a guy walking around not sure what his title was but he asked us if we were finished and I told him no we were waiting for our entrées. He walked around several times, and my friend and I both looked at each other and said that the wait between our appetizer, and entrées was ridiculous. When our entrées finally arrived I could honestly say I enjoyed my Cacio e Pepe which was so creamy and smooth and well seasoned it was absolutely divine. And my friend got the Pappardelle mushroom ragú which she absolutely loved. And for our desserts, we both got Tiramisu which unfortunately was the worst we have tasted because it was mostly mascarpone cheese and very little lady finger crumbles on the bottom dusted with cocoa powder on top. The first drink that we ordered was the Limoncello Spritz which cost $18 and it looked very refreshing, but as we tasted it, we both stared at each other and stirred the drink and tasted it again, and it was overly sweet. It tasted like we were drinking a glass of simple syrup. So we both told the waitress that we wanted to replace that drink with another. So we ended up getting the Aperol Spritz which cost $16 and it was much better, but there was a bitter taste at the end of each sip. We quickly realized that the bitter taste went away after we ate our food, so I guess that's what they mean when they say certain drinks, pairs better with certain foods. At the end of our meal we received our bill, looked it over and realize that we were being charged for the first drink that we did not like and sent back and brought it to the waitress attention, and she told us that our replacement drink was the same price when it was not so my friend pulled up the menu to show her that the replacement drink was less than the first drink, but she was very adamant, saying that she thought it was the same price. Thinking and knowing is two different things. Overall, I enjoyed my dinner. The best part was the appetizer and entrée I do recommend and I do hope for future reference that the Tiramisu will get better. Cheers read more

Food was subpar and overpriced and service was poor. Our waiter was not attentive and rarely came by to check in or refill our water, his colleague came by more often to check in. Our waiter got our drink order wrong and failed to get us an extra cup of water. Got the calamari with zucchini ($24), but it was 70/30 (zucchini/calamari) - fillers for that price tag! The diavola pizza was soggy and the seafood pasta ($33) was ehh, nothing impressive, the clams were clearly NOT FRESH. We all know clam that does not open aren't fresh/ dead, we brought this up to our waiter and was told "it's normal and expected to have some open, some not." Load of bs! Like I said horrible service in general. Easily find decent pasta anywhere else for $30-40/dish. read more

I came here for Winter RW 2024 and overall, I've had better RW experiences. My friend made reservations for 7:30pm but we were so hungry, we decided to go earlier. It wasn't crowded and it's part grocery store, part restaurant. From my vantage point, I could see cooks/chefs preparing meals--there was some banging but I wasn't sure what they were banging. Our server gave us RW menus and drink menus. For my friend's antipasti option, she got the insalata colorata with chicken and I got the arancini con pomodoro e mozzarella. My option was like fried risotto balls with cheese and tomatoes in the center. I really liked my dish; it was nice and gooey with a light crisp. My friend enjoyed her salad but thought it could've had a little seasoning and also thought that the butternut squash was going to be warm but it was cold. It wasn't bad, just unexpected. It was a nice touch to add pumpkin seeds. For our entrée (or Piatti), my friend got the cacio e pepe and I got the pappardelle al ragù di funghi. I love mushrooms and pasta so it was right up my alley. My friend devoured her dish--I had a chance to try some and it was pretty tasty. Who doesn't like cheese and pepper?! I enjoyed my meal, as mentioned, I love mushrooms and pasta. It was nice to top it off with cheese. It was rich but we weren't stuffed. For our drinks, we initially decided to get the limoncello but it was extremely sweet. I had never had that drink before but my friend did and she said that it was too sweet. This is coming from someone that loves sweet drinks. I was going to ask if we could get some lemon wedges because I wanted to squeeze them in the drink to make it more tart. My friend thought we should ask for another drink. We decided to try the aperol spritz--it was better than the limoncello but definitely has a bitter taste as it hits the back of your tongue. Interestingly enough, as we were eating, we would take sips and it was less bitter. It was a better drink option but I'm not sure I would get it again. The dessert was a fail. We ordered the tiramisu and it was overly cheesy and hardly any coffee flavor. We didn't finish it and it wasn't because we were full. We didn't want to eat cream cheese. Also, I was disappointed in the service. The manager was nice and he came by our table to ask how our meal was. However, it took a long time between our appetizers and entrees. It took so long that another server asked if we were waiting on more food. I want to say that it took 20 minutes from when they took our plates from the appetizer to the time we received our entrees. Lastly, when we got our bill, we noticed that we were charged for the limoncello instead of the aperol spritz. We asked the server and she quickly (almost in a short tone) said, "it's the same price"). It wasn't and I pulled up the menu to show the price. I see why this place is averaging 3 stars. The food for the most part was good but disappointing dessert (which we hardly ever get) and lackluster service. There's definite room for improvement. read more

We loved Patricia our server, she was on top of her game! As for the food, I have an opinion on the Uovo Crocante new dish on the brunch menu, the dish was very delicious but one egg , really?!? It's brunch, the dish screams for a slice of bread! I love small plates but just too small. The pizza was delicious. The staff was horrible. We were in the city to celebrate my daughter's birthday and got caught in rain storms last Saturday afternoon. This was the closest place that could seat us. Our waiter was slamming plates down and the hostess was stone faced. The waiter that brought us cheese was the only friendly smiling face we saw our entire meal. My 11 year old daughter even commented she couldn't wait to get out of there. Talking about overrated. My food was not great. My husband liked his. I asked for a little butter to go with my parma. The girl called over the waitress, who said she could not give me butter. So then came the GM, who asked if there was a problem. I said I spent $25 for some parma, can I have a little butter. He said they don't have any (although "butter" was in the name of the pasta dish my husband had). We paid $220 (with tip) for this meal, and I could not get a little butter??? Run from this place. Even happy hour food is really expensive and small portioned.. cured meats and cheese were amazing but we were pretty disappointed with pasta. Not sure how they can charge almost $25-30 for a pasta dish that's cooked like for kids with just barely some sauce and pasta.. it's a good place to catch up with friends as it's hustling bustling but definitely touristy. First off, let me start by saying that I love Eataly and I go there all the time for all kinds of purposes. This is my third visit to Vino e Grano and my least favorite experience. We were seated in the main dining area and it was a semi-busy night. I have previously tried their pizza and pasta and been satisfied with both food, wine and customer service. This time however we wanted to try out the main courses so we ordered the short ribs and the hangar steak. I found it outrageous that these meals cost ~$35 and were the most bland dishes I've had. The hangar steak came with some cooked farro, corn and squash that had NO flavor what so ever and looked liked something that could be served in a school cafeteria. Not even the added truffle had any flavor (!) I ordered my steak medium but received medium rare and again it was missing any type of seasoning. The short ribs tasted very average and wasn't served hot. We were served the wrong dish twice so overall it seemed like the staff was unorganized although it wasn't that busy. The waiter did not check in to see if everything was ok, if we needed anything else nor did he refill our water at any point. Even when collecting our plates we were not asked how it was. To me, this is the minimum you'd expect from the service staff at restaurant like this. I'm deeply disappointed with this visit so my recommendation would be to stick with the pizza and pastas if you do decide to go and hope that the level of service will be better. read more

On our NY trip, our daughter turned 16 and we stopped for lunch at Eataly (we love the one back home in century city). We were seated immediately and had a lovely waitress (Michele). My son ordered an "on the side" pasta dish and while we received our meals, his didn't arrive. After we let our waitress know, it quickly came out. After a few minutes, Madeline, the manager came over, apologized, comped our sons meal and refilled my husband and mine's glasses of Rose. Nice touch and very professional! Went here yesterday evening for my sister in laws birthday and was very happy to be seated immediately. We made reservations, but modified them several times and the restaurant still made sure to accommodate our party of 8. We had a great time tasting some wine that our waiter who is on his path to become a master sommerlier recommended. We ordered the gran misto platter which had five meats and five cheeses to share as a group and loved the variety of the platter and also the presentation. We then each ordered an entree ranging from the hanger steak to variety of pastas. Amongst our group, the standout entrees were the papperdelle (amazing housemade egg pasta with a sausage cream sauce) and the octopus pasta (so tender and expertly seasoned). I ordered the brasato (short rib) that came with polenta and must say it was my least favorite dish among all of our orders. I found the portion size confusing with very little plenty and a gigantic piece of short rib that was a bit dry for my liking. I would certainly order one of the pasta dishes if I return as I think that is where Eataly out performs every other restaurant in the vicinity. Therefor you will be eating inside of a market similar to the Arthur Ave but classier. This restaurant really relates to the Italian communal way of eating.
