    Great local Italian restaurant for pizza and pasta. We had a Bufalina pizza which was excellent and a Rigatoni Norma which was good. Friendly service but it can get a bit hectic. Very family friendly and outdoor seating available weather permitting.

    Between the food and ambiance of the people who frequent the pizzabar, I couldn't tell what I enjoyed more. Leaning towards the food because it comes in large portions and I wound up taking leftovers home. The service was also attentive and helpful, while I struggled with deciding what to get. Thinly cut fries on top of Chicken Parm had not crossed my mind until now. It's been a few weeks and I can't stop thinking about how delicious it was. Also got the beet salad which I devoured instantly. Pro tip: heat it up in the airfryer to get the ideal textural component all around.

    I stopped by Inatteso Pizzabar for a quick dinner after walking around all day. On the advice of my waiter, I ordered the ravioli with sage butter sauce which was quite good. The sauce could potentially be too much sage for some people, but that doesn't bother me. I will say that the portions are on the smaller side but you do get some bread for the table to help fill you up. I was fine with the amount of food but if my husband was there, he would have needed at least two portions to fill up. I sat outside and had a gorgeous view of One World Trade Center. As I was there on September 11th, this gave me the opportunity to watch as the tower lit up blue in rememberance of the 9/11 anniversary. You also can see the lights that symbolize the Twin Towers really well from this restaurant. I will say, though the waiters were friendly, I needed to wave them down when I was ready to order, ready to pack up, and ready to pay. I tried just catching some of their eyes but never was paid attention to. Not a huge bother, but just be aware. All in all, it was a good dinner and I'd go again. Just make sure that if you're STARVING, you may need to order a couple entrees.​

    This place is located a short walking distance from the WTC area. I wanted to grab a pizza to-go so stopped in here and had a glass of wine at the bar while I waited. The bartender was very friendly and provided excellent service. The Pizza Della Nonna was really good. I ordered 1/2 plain and 1/2 mushroom. The crust was crispy and on the thinner side. The sauce was a little on the sweet side but in a good way. Perfect cheese, sauce and topping ratio. It's a cute place. Clean but could feel cramped if really busy.

    Service (4/5): We were seated immediate in the barely full establishment on a Sunday evening around 7pm. The staff came to check often and was polite and quick. Ambiance (4/5): The inside is very dim and intimate which is great for a date night. The dining room overlooks into the brick ovens where the pizza is fired up. The noise level is low. There is also outdoor seating available. Food: Barese Pizza (2/5): The 12" pie can easily be shared between two. I liked the dough but wasn't impressed by the tomato sauce or the toppings. I needed a lot of additional parmesan to give it some flavor. Funghi Pasta: The pasta was extremely oily and bland aside from the mushroom which must have been marinated beforehand. Without copious cheese or red pepper, I might as well have just boiled pasta and added oil myself.

    Inatteso is a modern Italian eatery and pizzeria that opened in Manhattan, New York in December 2008. It was founded by executive chef Eric Lind. Over the course of his career, Lind had the pleasure of working under the mentorship of many talented chefs and restaurateurs in New York City, New Orleans and Italy. Eventually he wanted to open a restaurant of his own and found a location in Battery Park City. Lind named his restaurant "Inatteso" (meaning "unexpected" in Italian) because he liked the idea of having a pizzeria that would offer customers more than what they normally expect. In addition to their Neapolitan-style and Sicilian-style pizzas, Inatteso also offers house-made pasta dishes and modern interpretations of classic Italian entrees. Lind also opened a sister business, Inatteso Cafe, right down the block in 2008 as well. My son and I recently had lunch at Inatteso while we were cycling along the Hudson River Greenway. By the time we made it to the Battery Park City area, we were starting to get pretty hungry. The pizzeria is conveniently located right alongside the popular trail. We walked in right after they opened for the day. I really liked the interior design and the staff were friendly and helpful. My son and I munched on some delicious freshly baked complimentary bread as we looked over the menu. After looking over the cocktail selection, I decided to order a "Lemon Spritz" (gin, Italicus, lemon, soda splash). I think lemon-inspired cocktails are so refreshing during the summer months, and this one was no different. After looking over the pizza menu, my son and I decided to go classic and order a "Margherita" (mozzarella, basil, olive oil). The crust was perfectly crispy on the outside yet a little chewy on the inside; like toasted Italian bread. The sauce was very flavorful, the mozzarella melted in my mouth, and the basil tasted like it was just picked from the garden. This was very good pizza. I can tell that my son really enjoyed it because he barely said a word the entire meal. We both really enjoyed our lunch at Inatteso and we're happy that we discovered it. I'm interested in trying some of their pasta dishes on a return visit.

    Visited a friend who was in town, and picked this just because it was the closest sit down pizza restaurant. I'll be honest, I was not expecting to be so blown away but this pizza was incredible! I literally just had Fornino's yesterday and Lucali's a couple weeks ago so I felt like I was kind of in a hard to impress state for pizza. The crust is delicious and wonderfully charred, and the basil was added early enough that the pie had this amazing herby aroma and flavor. I also thought the toppings were really nice and did not overwhelm the key ingredients- the crust and sauce were still the main feature. I also really liked the starter salad we got and the bread, which I had to do everything in my power to not just eat 10 pieces of. Service was nice and quick though at one point at the end we had to flag them down for the check as it started raining and they were still inside. No harm no foul though as we had a great experience overall and loved the food.

    Despite some very tempting NYC Restaurant Week options, I had a very specific hankering for Neapolitan style pizza yesterday and didn't want to walk too far during a heat advisory. This place caught my eye (and nearby Sauce & Barrel, which I really liked during my first and only time there, closed earlier this summer), so my chum and I wandered over yesterday. I've walked by this place a handful of times; it's a very gentrified area and for me, a lot of the buildings/businesses kind of blend together - it's basically the NYC equivalent of Newport right across the river. That's not a ding on Inatteso, but I think a lot of the establishments in this neighborhood by definition have difficulty standing apart because of it. Your mileage may vary. That said, this is a very pleasant location in many respects. If it hadn't been insanely hot, we likely would have eaten outside and taken in the view - this is about a block from Battery Park and right on one of the rare wide avenues in downtown Manhattan, so it actually feels more laidback than a lot of nearby counterparts. I decided to go with a Margarita pie ($21), which was okay. It came fairly quickly - one of the great selling points of traditional Neapolitan pies - but personal palate-wise, I'm not crazy about big chunks in my tomato sauce. There were a few noticeable pockets of oil still lingering on the top of the pie, and the dough was more chewy than airy for me. The cheese was fine, but fairly indistinguishable. I still had four slices, but I left the remaining half of the pie in the work fridge for the public to consume. I also had a Paloma ($16); also fine, but I think I'm officially over that cocktail - it's refreshing on a day like this, but for me it just seems bland and a little too tart. That's also not something I think is necessarily an issue with Inatteso specifically, but their cocktail menu isn't lengthy (and half of it is negronis) so in the future I'd stick with a glass of wine; THAT part of the menu is pretty extensive. The service was fine, and the price point here is pretty competitive for the area; underscoring that fact was that the clientele was a solid mixture of nearby residents and tourists passing through. This isn't a bad place but I just personally wasn't crazy about it.

    So my Fiat isn't starting and I've called AAA! Ugh time to eat anyway walking over three blocks, to Inatteso! I've been coming to Inatteso for many years. It's the only Italian place on this side of West Street. When I first started coming here, the manager was Irene, who made sure you had an amazing experience. She moved on some years ago and the place has had a big turnover of staff. The place is very upscale with a modern, hip look. The kitchen with the oven is visible in the center of the restaurant. I prefer to sit up front with the huge windows making it bright and appealing. The inside area is darker and more intimate, for those looking for a romantic experience. During the day, the place attracts an upscale tourist crowd, coming off the ferries from Liberty and Elise Islands. There's also a big takeout business!! Tonight I've order Montepulciano and sparkling water. Then their fabulous ravioli with spinach and grilled chicken contorni. The Raviolis come within minutes but seems like the chicken had been delayed. Oh well it's raining out who's in a rush!! Wait! I've just received a call from Triple A. The tow truck is en route! But I have time for one more glass of wine!!! Btw the grilled chicken had come and it's delicious!! Great job Natasha!!

    Great food but iffy ambiance! My only complaint is that there were SO MANY really loud kids in the restaurant when I was there. There were probably 20 and they were running around (literally) and screaming. I like kids but that was a lot for a restaurant. Anyway, the pizza and service were really good! My pizza was a little expensive but it was truly a great portion. It had a great crust, great cheese, and great sauce. No complaints there! I did think the broccoli rabe was REALLY spicy though, so beware!

    I really liked the decor and ambiance on the inside. Service was fast. I got Tagliatelle Alla Bolognese and it was decent. I'd say portions are slightly less than expected. I also asked to not put parsley in my dish but it was there anyways.

From offering to keep leftovers in the fridge until a customer was done at their broadway show, to offering a scone to a young child while he and his father waited for their pizza to be done, it was more than just flipping a table and onto the next tip, it was humanity at its best. I will use another pizzeria in Bushwick that exemplifies it perfectly. It is a hipster pizzeria in a hipster neighborhood. Through balance, it creates an ambiance both welcoming and warm without losing any of its Bushwick character. It does this by not beating you over the head with hipster vibes, just enough to let you know that you are in Bushwick. The band Franz Ferdinand was playing as I was wrapping up. Rather than take the pizza out, I suggest you throw it out. Overall pizza rating: 1.7/5
