I had a hard time deciding what to order there were so many options but I thought some of the entrées were a bit out of line in price compared to what I saw serving size coming out of the kitchen We all ordered something different and were content with our dinner. What a delicious hidden gem in the burbs! My husband and I stopped in this past weekend. It's very big inside, a lot of seating, cozy atmosphere with a beautiful ambiance. It's the perfect restaurant for a romantic date night. We were greeted by the owner, he was very nice. They had live music playing. My husband ordered a glass of wine which he loved, yummy calamari, Penne Mama Rosa, and sausage-onion-mushroom pizza. Everything was fantastic. Next time we come we will go on a Wednesday for the 2 for $20 pasta, or Sunday for the 2 for 1 pasta deal! Can't wait to go back. read more

Well....I've been here before and enjoyed. Having said that..... I brought 4 of my friends tonite.....horrible. Just horrible. I ordered salmon..... so dry I couldn't swallow it......veggies along with it on my plate supposed to be cooked, almost raw and inedible. Easily the worst meal I have had in years. I had the carbonara. it was drowning in oil, lacked an appropriate amount of peas, bacon, etc. Basically just noodles and oil. Decided on Vino Cappuccino for a Pre Christmas family dinner for 4. Arrived at 6:30 for our reserved table and was seated immediately into a half full restaurant. Our waitress took our drink order immediately and returned. We had some issues with the table not being level and water and martinis spilling as the table wobbled. No big deal, tho. We were looking for a relaxing evening with appetizers/entrees/dessert and we received something less than expected. Although we ordered appetizers, our salads and soups arrived first. About 3 minutes later our appetizers arrived and our table was SO cluttered with food! Not sure what our server was thinking. The calamari was excellent. Large and tender pieces, lightly battered with marinara and tarter sauce on the side. The bruschetta was not excellent, however. The tomatoes were fresh but stored in a very cold refrigerator and served without coming to room temp. You really couldn't taste any tomato flavor. Just cold. We had barely finished our soups/salads by the time our entrees arrived. Now we have two appetizers, 4 entrees, 4 drinks, 4 waters on the table... and it's wobbling! It would have been kind of funny if it wasn't so sad. Neither our waitress nor server cared to address the issue, they just kept piling on. No idea about how to manage the delivery of food. One of our dishes was incorrect and had to be returned. When we advised our waitress of this, she said she had heard us order something different, but what she mentioned wasn't even on the menu. Ouch. The entrees were hit and miss. The Lobster Ravioli was quite good. Creamy and sweet with the lobster taste. The Stuffed Salmon was cooked and stuffed perfectly. The small prosciutto and arugula pizza was bland as the sauce had no zing to it and the last entrée was so loaded with baked cheese that you could not taste any chicken, artichoke or mushroom. My first time coming here even though I drive by it everyday. I have never been treated so kindly by a restaurant in my life. When they found out I'm an essential healthcare caregiver they were extremely generous to me. The owner and his beautiful wife were the warmest most appreciative people. The food was excellent too, I got the blackened shrimp skewers with carrots, zucchini, green beans, rice and garlic bread. I don't usually care for veggies but ate every last bite. Wow. Just wow. Went there for dinner with my husband. Food was "okay". I enjoyed my pasta, husband did not... Seriously marred by the obnoxious owner. We were unfortunately seated near the entrance and treated to his loud, belligerent tirades at all of his staff throughout our rare dinner out for our anniversary. I had lunch here today. They did an excellent job of setting up the out side for dining . It was like everyone had their own cubicle . Very well designed. That being said there is a train going through every 15 minutes . During our lunch 5 trains went through. The biggest disappointment was the food . I ordered a turkey BLT. The turkey was lunch meat and was tasteless. Bacon was minimal . Tomato flavorless. On Texas toast with something yellow in the bread . The server was excellent . The server kept checking that we were ok. At the end it was a little annoying because I wasn't finished eating and 4 times they asked me if I wanted a box . After driving by this restaurant at least 100 times we finally stopped in. Actually someone else picked this restaurant and we had no idea what they were talking about until we arrived, like "Ohhhhh, this restaurant!" This restaurant is tucked away in the old part of Brookfield on Brookfield Rd, next to the railroad tracks with a parking area behind it. The enclosed outdoor dining space was buzzing when we arrived. Plenty of Brookfield types enjoying a meal. Inside there were just handful of tables. The indoor space is large with plenty of tables. There are also adjoining rooms with more tables. The bar area is big and well stocked. Ambience seems relaxed but a little uppity because it's Brookfield. The menu appeared extensive with lots of sandwiches, seafood, pasta and pizza options. Honestly though I barely looked at it because the reason this location was picked for dinner is the Tuesday night spaghetti special. $6.50 for a bowl of spaghetti and two average sized meatballs that also includes a side salad or soup. Vino Cappuccino has many appealing weekly specials, like Sunday and Monday 2 for 1 pasta and pizza. Had I known this years ago I might have stopped in sooner. But back to the spaghetti, for the price the spaghetti was decent. I wouldn't normally pick spaghetti at an Italian restaurant but this worked. I did however think the sauce was a bit sweeter than I expected. Our table joked that instead of salt in the water for the noodles they actually used sugar. The meatballs did have good flavor and two was enough for the size of the meal. For the side salad you can have house or caesar. I liked that and opted for the caesar which hit the spot. Service was great. Our server was very attentive and the meal was paced well. He did a great job and had no problem splitting our tab at the end. Other employees were also friendly and professional. My wife and I and our two children, 4 and 2, came on Friday night at 730pm without a reservation. We were prepared a table with a high chair and sat immediately, despite the fact that they looked packed. We ordered calamari, 2 house salads, lobster bisque and lentil soup for appetizers. The calamari was buttery tender, one of the best I've ever had with marinara and lemon aioli sauce. The side salad was fresh and the kids loved it all. For entrees we had two specials, short rib ravioli and cheese stuffed tortellini in cream sauce with prosciutto, both to die for. Our service was outstanding, bring coloring books and crayons, kids waters and accommodations. They had live music, piano player and singer that had great song selection. Nonexistent sense of hygiene. I went with a party of 15 for dinner on 9/30. At a time of a global pandemic, with Wisconsin and Milwaukee particularly badly hit, you expect immaculate standards of hygiene when eating out to prevent people infecting one another. Our food was not a la carte but group platters with self-serve. Starting from the starter salad onwards, not one dish was presented with any clean serving utensils which would stay on the platter, rather than 15 people using their own dirty cutlery to help themselves from the same platters. By the time dessert came - a group bowl of ice cream and some pieces of cake on a single plate, again with no serving utensils, I got fed up and asked the server for a spoon for the ice cream and a fork for the cake. She had an attitude problem and spoke rudely as if I must be crazy to even ask. This establishment must be living in a different world to what we're living through right now. read more

Went to Vino Cappuccino in Brookfield last evening. My date and I were the first people to experience sitting at a piano top table. The grand piano is covered with a sheet of glass and 4 bar stools are lined up around it. It was a unique experience overall and I'd recommend it if you are ok with some noise near you. The pianist and singer covered multiple genres of music and took requests. Being that we were the first couple to try this experience, they politely asked us whether the sound level was suitable. My date and I were able to easily hold a conversation and at times I even forgot we were eating off of a piano. As always, the food and service at Vino was superb! They have a Victorian wallpapered wall, cheesy painted walls designed to look like cracking brick, a wall painted like a forest, a wall painted like wood panels, and a wall of stone, all in the same room. I have no idea what theme they are trying to achieve. That in conjunction with the loud reggae music just leaves you distracted and confused. The food is okay. Pretty basic Italian, nothing really makes an impression. The desserts were bad. We tried several and each was as unappetizing as the next. It also doesn't seem to matter what you order, you will wait...a long time. You will consider just leaving before your food arrives. I am also deeply annoyed at their pesto pizza. It's not a pesto pizza. It's an Alfredo pizza with spinach. Stop calling it pesto. All that aside, the pizzas were really dry and unpleasant. The staff is usually very friendly. No complaints there. My recommendation would be to come for drink and bruschetta. This place has a great bruschetta and great bar lighting. Step your game up Vino, and ditch the reggae. read more

This was on my "To Try" list for awhile...It's tucked way they heck out on Brookfield Road, not the most convenient location. But, it's been getting a lot of hype so I wanted to partake. Stopped in on a Wednesday after work. Just happened to be Wine Night so they were running a wine sampling. I didn't go for it because it was about $15 for a tasting selection on three premium wines. I'll just put it out there right now, I'm no wine connoisseur so for me it was a tad pricey. The place was completely empty, I'm always creeped out by that. We did, however, get great service being the only one in the dining room! They had half off appetizers as well so we went with wine off the list (solid list with good options at all price points) and split the Chicken Frites and goat cheese prosciutto wraps. The wraps were well done, goat cheese was fresh. The Frites were just so-so, nothing special in my opinion. We then split a Goat Cheese, tomato, and black olive pizza. Thin crust was good, but a little soggy. All in all, I'd be hesitant to come back and pay full price (Yes, I am cheap) for a meal after feeling less than impressed by the appetizers and pizza. I love the concept, and the space is adorable (It's right next to the train and the building has a train stationy feel), but the food is just okay. read more

The other night I made a reservation when we heard that they had re-opened. When we got there the couple in from my of us had a mix up with their reservation and were there at the wrong time. Our table was given to that couple. With no seats left we were sat out on the patio uncovered without as much as an apology. I called today just explained my disappointment and it was met with a manager who said "all I can say is I'm sorry I can't do anything else, you were not the only one who has had a reservation, what can I do?" Then she proceeded to hang up on me when she got angry at me. We supported this business throughout the pandemic and it ordered a couple times from them and encouraged our friends to do also. I hope this was our servers first day on the job. No knowledge of the soups, literally left the table mid-order to find out. Gave us our appetizer with the meal, without the accompanying dipping sauces, saying "the kitchen/cooks are really good at what they do, please don't blame them, we are just so busy with the pizza orders" (Sunday did look like a busy take out day) Don't throw the kitchen staff under the bus because you put our appetizer order in late. I can recognize the difference between kitchen mistakes and lack of server experience (the server adds the sauces after the meal has been prepared), and one of the sauces we just plain never got. I got tired of asking. We kept reminding "uh hey, what about our appetizer?" Kept getting very odd responses. The food. The pizza was great. Cracker thin crust, good toppings, good subtle sauce. The roasted red pepper bisque was spicy but good. Stuffed Mahi-Mahi entree was fine, but the tomato pilaf was watery and not great. I watched a line slowly forming to the door from the register for people picking up takeout pizza orders; I will take a cue from them and do the 2 for 1 pizza deal on Sunday. Ambiance is fine. What a blessing! I just happened to be in Brookfield the other day visiting a long lost friend, and chose this divine delicatessen as our luncheon getaway. FABULOUS. I am extremely critical of food and restaurants, and have little if any negative comments to expulse against Vino Cappuccino Cafe. A commendable wine list and selection for a small cafe, with at least one wine by the glass for most of the major styles. Even Gewurztraminer! :-P I do agree with some previous grievances that the check total can increase exponentially in a short period of time... My friend and I had a $50 lunch tab, but I regret none of it. (glass of wine, salad, two soups, and two entrees - relatively reasonable). The service was fine, the food selection was appealing and interesting. I believe that the sign out front reads Pizzeria and something else, the pizza section composed one of the most extensive menu segments... so keep that in mind. They had a smattering of quality pastas, I had one as my entree. They readily modified the entrees for us, which was a hot treat. Slip, scrabble, slide and squeal on into Vino Cappuccino and at least give it a first try. Chances are you will be back for more! I believe there is a heaping heavy hopping happy hour that drives flocks of patrons scurrying through the doors to soak up snacks and drinks... but I couldn't tell you what those specials may be if they are in existence. Breaking my Yelp hiatus to review this gem of a place. In all honesty I can't believe I haven't done it sooner seeing as I have visited Vino like 100 times. (I wish that was an exaggeration) I come here a few times a week, because I work across the street and it a super convenient place to grab a bite to eat, or a glass of wine *heavy emphasis on the wine. As I said, I mostly spend my time at vino drinking wine, but sometimes I order food and everything I've had has been really solid. The cheesy breadsticks are straight up addicting! The ambiance is pretty nice, its a great breakaway from all the chain restaurants that seem to permeate Brookfield. The real reason I like coming to Vino is because the service is awesome. The servers are really kind and accommodating, and if it's not crazy busy they take time to make conversation and get to know you. This summer while running my dance intensive across the street our faculty ordered to go from Vino everyday. They loved the food and were really impressed with how quickly and accurately they put our orders together. Vino was also amazing yet again this summer while I was hosting dancers for a show. Between rehearsal and work we had a really small time frame to get food and Vino was able to get our orders out quickly every time. Overall its a great option if you are dining in Brookfield. I've been to Vino Cappuccino numerous times and had mixed experiences. The food is usually very good, but there have been exceptions. However, this review is based on my last visit. When we arrived, a female staff member came to seat us. It was apparent that she was quite ill by the way she looked and acted, as well as repeatedly sucking in her mucus. After pouring water into our glasses while holding them near the rim (a nasty practice under normal circumstances), we were uneasy about dining there. I tried to reassure myself that everything would be fine once we asked our server to bring us new glasses. Then the same woman came back to our table and introduced herself as our waitress. We got up and left once she walked away. To me, the greatest fault lies with the management. Many restaurant employees report being forced to work when they're ill. I believe that was the case here, as It was very obvious that this woman was miserable and did not want to be there. Needless to say, we won't be going back any time soon. read more

Attractive setting & a wonderful waitress. Not bad fish fry. But $11 for a glass of Moscato? Big fancy wine glass, but it wasn't even 1/3 full!!! Not what I would call a 'full pour' for a glass of wine, even by today's standards. (I worked one summer as a bartender many years ago, so I know.) What a disappointment.
