For an airport restaurant, this place is above average. We each had some glasses of Champagne to celebrate Edwyn's birthday and a meat and cheese platter. The staff were all very welcoming and attentive and we enjoyed our bubbles. The platter, though, wasn't anything special although I did notice that the woman sitting next to us ordered what appeared to be a very well dressed arugula salad with a chicken and bacon sandwich which she enjoyed. Overall it is better than most places to eat in an airport. I plan on ordering that sandwich next time we travel. read more

I was flying on my birthday and needed a good snack. The cheese platter sounded like a great day, but I can't eat goat cheese. I asked if I could double up on one cheese and not get the goat cheese. Since I'm not a fan of Chardonnay, James swapped it for the White Paso Robles Blend -- great choice. Showed up as a single in airport "wine bar"after waiting 10 minutes at seat yourself seating I was asked to move. There were many empty tables. I said I was pretty comfortable but would move if needed. Another 10 minutes went by and clearly I was not going to be waited on. Then four ladies showed up. Despite there being empty tables nearby the kid came to ask me to move. I wish to stress I could not have been nicer and I was proud of myself for holding my ground initially. I've experienced issues being seated as a single before but I have never been treated so rudely . I left and went to Second Bar and Kitchen and had the complete opposite experience. Needed to kill some time before my flight and decided to get a couple glasses of sauvignon blanc at Vino Volo. They present each glass you order with a paper coaster that lists details about the wine you're drinking, which is a nice touch. If you're in the mood for a bite, they do have a decent food menu with several options to choose from. The smoked salmon crostini really stood out to me, but being that I had just had dinner, I decided to pass on the dish this time but will definitely be getting it the next time I'm passing through the airport. Note that the tables are a little small and are close together so it's difficult to do work on your laptop while having your drink and you're probably going to be bumping elbows a bit with your neighbors, but other than that, Vino Volo is a solid choice. read more

They have the worse customer service ever. The location was not busy and was at 25% capacity max around 8:45 pm on a Sunday....I sat at the table right night to the seating area for my flight. There were three other people there that had not ordered drinks. The guy kept harrassing me. First he stated that if the restaurant got full, I would need to leave. No problem. I'm a big fan of Vino Volo since my first visit in SF. It's a great wine bar located in airports all over the country. Since I like to "vino" and chill, this is now my new spot. One of the BEST places to waste time, while waiting to take off. I learned about their App, downloaded it and now I tell everyone about it. The app offers all members when they check in, a glass "taste" of a premium wine of the day for $2. When you get your receipts, you scan the barcode and once you hit $250/year; you get the $2 taste, free amuse bouche and discounts on wine. Since I'm still just a cellar member, I ordered the $2 taste and got the amuse bouche of the day for $4. They have good prices for an airport, wine flights are between $12 - $20 and the appetizers start at $3. We often get the cheese plate for $12, which comes with cheese, nuts, jams and crackers. Vino Volo is awesome and compared to those airport prices on drinks, it's also a deal. read more

There's a very short guy there, I think he's a dwarf or midget or something... I felt bad for him when I saw him because the side of his face is contorted like he got in a fight and lost really bad. Anyways, I don't feel badly for him anymore because I saw him chugging wine and yelling at the customers. Real grease ball! i had the butcher's platter. it was really good, but it's hard to get it wrong w/ chercuterie. the service was excellent and the wines were interesting, i stuck w/ the red blends. i had a 1 hour delay on my flight to NYC, so I spent some time in this place. the ambiance was nice. the design of the place is pleasant and there was live music. the live music was pretty cool. definitely one of the better places i've seen in an airport. i recommend if you're flying out of austin and have some time to spare. read more

I love Vino Volo, it is a great stop pre-flight. They're consistent location to location as far as customer service and quality, plus it's a chill vibe. If I had one complaint - and I do - it was the cavatappi dish. It's $24 for a small portion of food. It's 1/4 of the portion of, say, Olive Garden and more expensive. I'm not arguing for a bigger portion, it's perfect, but $24 for 1.5 cups of pasta (max) seems absolutely ridiculous. Anything above $15 for that dish is completely stupid. The wine flights are totally reasonably priced, the food should be, too. read more

Mimosa was good. I hate when you get more OJ than champagne in a mimosa. This was not the case. I brought food from schlotzky's to eat and they had no issue with it. I got my check in a timely fashion and made it to my gate on time. read more

I love Vino Volo. I love Austin. Put them together and I'm over the moon. I'm writing this some time after having visited, and since this is a place I drink wine I tend to get a little fuzzy on the details. I know I've had great service, staff going the distance to recommend the best local wines (because I always ask) and trying to come up with something vegan for me to eat. Usually I end up with fig jam and crustini. Once I came home with a white wine called Swim Spot. It smells like summer, and tastes like rain. Yeah-eh-eh-yeah. Seriously, it was a good recommendation when I visited July 2016. Drank it at a cook out. I was there again in October that same year. Came home with a lovely tempranillo but I can't recall the name. I duly hang my head in shame. During the October trip, another table decided they didn't want their fancy almonds and gave them to me. I can't recall what led me to accepting snacks from a couple strangers. Tasty, as are the olives, but I'd love if they could offer vegans something more substantial to eat. read more

Best option for the wine drinker, as they have a nice variety on the menu and the option to try one of their pre-made tasting flights. This is often the route I go, as it's affordable and usually ensures I don't have to suffer through drinking a full glass of mysterious airport wine. Also, though I try to avoid chains in favor of local fare, I always appreciate that Vino Volo is pretty consistent across many airports. I've had similarly great experiences in Philly, Seattle, and MSP. Austin just happens to be home base. The food is good. I am judging it against other airport foods I've had in my day, and grading on that scale I might even say it's excellent. Salads are fresh, rarely overdressed, and are a decent size for the price. Cheese plates tend to vary with the season, and feature interesting components. One of my long time go to dishes has been the lamb meatballs, which do a nice job filling you up but not feeling heavy- nobody wants to get into an airline seat feeling the bloat on its way. Service here can be hit or miss, and at busy times the tables do fill up. The tables themselves are also quite small and a little cramped. This rarely bothers me when traveling alone, but larger/taller people or groups might struggle a bit more. Unfortunately, there is really no scenery or airport view-ability at this place. They have done a nice job of constructing their mini-restaurant to have a pleasant, rustic feel, but there are no windows and no way to watch airplanes move across the tarmac or take off and land on the runway. As a lover of airports and airplanes, and simply watching all the pieces move, this is always a huge disappointment. In Austin, if you want to plane watch, your best bet is to get your food to go. read more

Menu is a little spartan on the "by the glass" side since it's limited to usually 3-4 choices based on what is offered for flights (and not all of the wines I find appealing). So we've been to many airport bars/wine bars and Vino Volo in the Austin TX airport stands out. They have a very good selection of wines, reasonably priced for a glass and they sell flights. If you're a red wine drinker, you may want to try the Taste of Texas flight, 3 very nice reds from right here. Saniovese, Agianco and Mourverdre were on my flight. I preferred the Mourverdre myself, but they were all very nice wines. They switch up the menu pretty often, so I guess it'll be hit or miss. I wanted to unwind after a long week, and this was the perfect place for that. I got two glasses of merlot before boarding my flight. But, if you're ever departing from ABIA from Gate 14 and have time to kill, this is a cute little respite where you can enjoy wine and gourmet meat & cheese plates, sandwiches. The space is defined by their wood floors, on which you have stay to enjoy your beverages. Glasses of wine range from $14-20 if memory serves me, and their selection is impressive for being an airport wine bar. I much prefer biding my time in a place like this than in a rowdy airport sports bar, so 4 stars from me because I think ABIA sorely needed this option and it's now one of my favorites. read more
